Application of HWAW Method to Detect Underground Anomaly in Shallow Depth (지표 근처 지중 이상체 파악을 위한 HWAW 기법의 적용)

  • A new alternative method based on HWAW method to detect underground anomaly was introduced. The location of underground anomaly can be estimated by using 2-dimensional image of phase velocity image with position and wavelength based on distortion phenomena of surface wave due to underground anomaly. Overall procedure of proposed method such as field testing, signal processing and interpretation of the result was introduced. Numerical verification study was performed by using various ground models containing underground anomaly. According to the condition of anomaly, the propagation and reflection characteristics of surface wave were different and this could be more easily shown in the image of phase velocity. Some rules of distortion phenomena were found and these become clues for estimating underground anomaly in interpreting real field data. Field verification tests were performed with conventional geophysical methods such as DC resistivity method and GPR. Though field condition is not homogeneous like numerical models, similar distortion phenomena were found in the testing results and estimated location of underground anomaly was agreed well with the results of another geophysical methods.

Development of Physics Simulation for Augmented Reality Billiards Content (증강현실 당구 콘텐츠를 위한 물리 시뮬레이션 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose a physics simulation for augmented reality (AR) billiards content. The characteristics of the physics simulation for the proposed AR billiards content are as follows. First, physical equations are derived by calculating the force and moment of inertia applied to the billiards ball to realize the motion of the billiards ball similar to the real one in the AR environment. Then, we determine the velocity and angular velocity of the virtual billiards ball associated with the rotation of the virtual billiards ball with respect to the impact point. Second, using some vectors such as incidnet vector, normal vector, reflection vector, the trajectory of the virtual billiards ball would be implement. these equations are applied to AR environment so that AR billiards content could be implement. This physics simulation allows users to feel like the real world using a virtual pool table and induce them to interact with the real environment. As a result of the experiment, the accuracy range between the path of the real billiards ball and the path of the virtual billiards ball was calculated to be 97.75% to 99.11%. Therefore, it was determined that the performance of the physics simulation for the AR billiards content proposed in this paper performs similarly to the path of the real billiards ball.

Experimental Observation of the Settling Velocity of Coarse Particles and Comparative Analysis (조립입자 침강속도에 대한 실험적 관찰 및 비교분석)

  • This study conducted experimental observations of the settling velocity of a coarse particle in water varying material type and particle size and compared the results with preexisting empirical equations. Three types of materials, which are polyacetal, glass and steel, were used in this study and the diameter of particle ranged from 1 mm to 20 mm. Experiment results showed that the settling velocity of coarse particle had a significant difference from Stokes equation which is known applicable for a fine particle smaller than $50{\mu}m$. In addition, the observed particle velocity showed a significant difference when compared with other empirical equations, which was proposed for estimating the settling velocity of a particle regardless of particle size, depending on the material type and particle size. The results from experimental observations indicated that the settling velocity of a coarse particle was relatively in smaller difference to other empirical equations for the particle size smaller than 3 mm, but as the size increased the difference in the settling velocity also increased. This study clearly showed that the settling velocity of a coarse particle velocity can be significantly different depending on particle size and density and the empirical equations may not reliably estimate the settling velocity of a coarse particle so that they should not be used as it is and a verification of them is necessarily before any use. The study results would provide a useful information for a better understanding of settling velocity of a particle in water.

Measuring and Generation the speed of reaction wheel for Spacecraft Dynamic Simulator using the T-Method (위성동역학 시뮬레이터용 T-방식을 이용한 반작용휠 속도 측정 및 펄스 생성)

  • The M-Method that measures the speed of actuator with counting the number of Reaction wheel Tacho Pulse has the many advantages such that a realization is simple and measuring time is uniform, but it also has the disadvantage that measuring speed becomes worse as the wheel speed goes lower. On the contrary, the T-Method that measures the time duration between the pulses is more accurate at lower-speed and its time delay is smaller than M-Method, but its realization is more difficult than M-Method because measuring time is varying with wheel speed variation. Thought M/T Method mixing M-Method with T-Method is widely used in order to measure the speed in the motor industrial area, one of two methods has been used in the spacecraft design area. Therefore, we try to apply both methods together to measuring the speed of Reaction Wheel, the core actuator for low earth orbit satellite. This paper provides the Reaction Wheel simulation board located in the Spacecraft Dynamic Simulator, ground support test set.

Resolution and Image processing Methods of Tomogram and There impact of Computational Velocity Estimation (토모그램의 해상도와 영상처리 기법이 속도예측에 미치는 영향)

  • Physical properties of rocks, such as velocity, are strongly dependant on detailed pore structures, and recently, pore micro-structures by X-ray tomography techniques have been used to simulate and understand the physical properties. However, the smoothing effect during the tomographic reconstruction procedure often causes an artifact - overestimating the contact areas between grains. The pore nodes near a grain contact are affected by neighboring grain nodes, and are classified into grain nodes. By this artifact, the pore structure has higher contact areas between grains and thus higher velocity estimation than the true one. To reduce this artifact, we tried two image processing techniques - sharpening filter and neural network classification. Both methods gave noticeable improvement on contact areas between grains visually; however, the estimated velocities showed only incremental improvement. We then tried to change the resolutions of tomogram and quantify its impact on velocity estimation. The estimated velocity from the tomogram with higher spatial resolution was improved significantly, and with around 2 micron spatial resolution, the calculated velocity was very close to the lab measurement. In conclusion, the resolution of pore micro-structure is the most important parameter for accurate estimation of velocity using pore-scale simulation techniques. Also the estimation can be incrementally improved if combined with image processing techniques during the pore-grain classification.

Mechanical Properties and Microstructural Analysis of Sn-40Bi-X Alloys (Sn-40Bi-X 합금의 기계적 물성과 미세조직 분석)

  • 저온용 무연 솔더의 대표 조성으로 고려되고 있는 Sn-58Bi(융점: $138^{\circ}C$) 공정(eutectic) 조성은 우수한 강도에도 불구하고 연성(ductility) 측면에서의 문제점이 지속적으로 보고되고 있다. 따라서 이 합금계의 연성을 최대로 개선시킬 수 있으면서도 실제 상용화가 가능한 합금 조성의 개발 연구가 요청된다. 본 연구에서는 Sn-Bi 2원계 조성에서 최대의 연성을 나타내는 것으로 보고된 Sn-40Bi 조성에 미량의 합금원소를 첨가함으로써 최대의 연성을 확보하는 한편, 그 연성 특성이 변형속도에 어느 정도 민감한지를 인장 실험을 통해 결정하고자 하였다. 합금원소로는 0.1~0.5 wt%의 Ag, Mn, In, Cu를 선택하였으며, 인장 시편을 제조하여 $10^{-2}$, $10^{-3}$, $10^{-4}\;s^{-1}$의 3종류로 변형속도를 변형시켜가며 응력-변형 곡선(stress-strain curve)을 측정하였고, 조성별, 변형속도별로 최대인장강도(ultimate tensile stress, UTS) 및 연신율 결과들을 정리하였다. 합금원소를 첨가한 조성의 경우는 모든 시험 조건에서 Sn-40Bi보다 우수한 연신률을 나타내는 것으로 측정되었으나, $10^{-2}\;s^{-1}$의 빠른 변형속도에서는 그 향상 정도가 상대적으로 감소하는 경향이 관찰되었다. 특히 Sn-40Bi-0.5Ag 조성의 경우 느린 변형속도에서 특히 눈에 띄는 연신률 값을 나타내며, 모든 변형속도 조건에서 가장 우수한 연성을 나타내었다. 한편 Sn-40Bi-0.1Cu 조성의 경우 변형속도에 따른 연신률의 변화 정도, 즉, 변형속도에 따른 연신률의 민감도가 매우 커 $10^{-4}\;s^{-1}$ 속도에서는 Sn-40Bi-0.5Ag에 버금가는 연신률 값이 측정되었으나, $10^{-2}\;s^{-1}$ 속도에서는 가장 나쁜 연신률 특성을 보여주었다. Sn-40Bi-0.2Mn 조성은 최고의 연신률 향상 특성을 나타내지는 않았으나, In을 첨가한 경우보다는 대체적으로 우수한 연성을 나타내었다. 이상의 각 합금별 연성 특성은 인장시험 전의 미세조직 관찰 결과와 인장시험 후 파면부의 조직변화 관찰 결과로부터 해석되었다. 그 결과 석출상의 형성 여부, 인장 시험 중 재결정 조직의 형성 여부, 라멜라(lamellar) 조직의 분율과 라멜라 간격(lamellar spacing)의 정도 또는 $\beta$-Sn과 라멜라 조직 사이의 결정립계와 라멜라 조직 내 결정립계에서의 슬라이딩 모드(sliding mode) 변형 정도, 석출상의 크기와 분포 정도 등이 연신률 및 변형속도 민감도와 같은 연성 특성에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 인자인 것으로 분석되었다.

Performance Test of Hypocenter Determination Methods under the Assumption of Inaccurate Velocity Models: A case of surface microseismic monitoring (부정확한 속도 모델을 가정한 진원 결정 방법의 성능평가: 지표면 미소지진 모니터링 사례)

  • The hypocenter distribution of microseismic events generated by hydraulic fracturing for shale gas development provides essential information for understanding characteristics of fracture network. In this study, we evaluate how inaccurate velocity models influence the inversion results of two widely used location programs, hypoellipse and hypoDD, which are developed based on an iterative linear inversion. We assume that 98 stations are densely located inside the circle with a radius of 4 km and 5 artificial hypocenter sets (S0 ~ S4) are located from the center of the network to the south with 1 km interval. Each hypocenter set contains 25 events placed on the plane. To quantify accuracies of the inversion results, we defined 6 parameters: difference between average hypocenters of assumed and inverted locations, $d_1$; ratio of assumed and inverted areas estimated by hypocenters, r; difference between dip of the reference plane and the best fitting plane for determined hypocenters, ${\theta}$; difference between strike of the reference plane and the best fitting plane for determined hypocenters, ${\phi}$; root-mean-square distance between hypocenters and the best fitting plane, $d_2$; root-mean-square error in horizontal direction on the best fitting plane, $d_3$. Synthetic travel times are calculated for the reference model having 1D layered structure and the inaccurate velocity model for the inversion is constructed by using normal distribution with standard deviations of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 km/s, respectively, with respect to the reference model. The parameters $d_1$, r, ${\theta}$, and $d_2$ show positive correlation with the level of velocity perturbations, but the others are not sensitive to the perturbations except S4, which is located at the outer boundary of the network. In cases of S0, S1, S2, and S3, hypoellipse and hypoDD provide similar results for $d_1$. However, for other parameters, hypoDD shows much better results and errors of locations can be reduced by about several meters regardless of the level of perturbations. In light of the purpose to understand the characteristics of hydraulic fracturing, $1{\sigma}$ error of velocity structure should be under 0.2 km/s in hypoellipse and 0.3 km/s in hypoDD.

Implementation of Ray-Tracer on a Java Parallel Environment (자바 병렬 환경에서 동작하는 광선 추적기 구현)

  • 광선 추적법(Ray-Tracer)은 물체에 직.간접적으로 영향을 미치는 빛의 반사 및 굴절 경로를 역추적함으로써 실제감있는 이미지를 생성하는 렌더링(rendering)기법이다. 이러한 광성 추적법을 장시간의 계산을 필요로 하는 단점이 있으나. 각각의 광선을 병렬적으로 추적함으로써 속도의 향상을 피할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 자바를 사용하는 메시지 기반 병렬 프로그래밍 시스템인 JPVM 상에서 동작하는 병렬 광선 추적기를 구현하였다. 병렬 광성 추적기를 사용자에 의해 지정된 장면 정의 파일(Scene Defintion File)을 읽어 들여 피싱(parsing)한후, 생성된 장면 객체를 각 worker프로그램에게 전송한다. 병렬 광선 추적기는 전체 화면 영역을 분활하여 각 worker 프로그램에 할당하며, worker프로그램들은 자신에게 할당된 영역의 이미지를 병렬적으로 생성한다. 실험 결과, 병렬 광선 추적기는 단일 광선 추적기에 비해 빠르게 렌더링을 수행하였으며, worker프로그램의 수가 증가함에 따라 수행 속도가 향상되었다.

Mesh Simplification for Volume and Boundary Preservation (볼륨과 경계보존을 고려한 메쉬 간략화)

  • 대부분의 3차원 모델을 가시화해주기 위한 시스템들은 삼각 메쉬를 기반으로 한 모델 표현법을 사용하고 있다. 이러한 시스템들은 복잡한 3차원 모델을 원격 엑세스할 때에는 모델을 가공하지 않으면 전송 및 랜더링시에 많은 제약이 따른다. 이러한 전송 시간과 랜더링 시간, 저장공간을 줄이기 위해 모델을 간략화하거나 압축하는 많은 기법들이 소개되어져 왔다. 본 논문에서는 메쉬 간략화를 위해 소개되어진 많은 다른 방법에서 사용한 에지 축약(Edge Collapse) 기반의 간략화 알고리즘을 제시한다. 기본적인 접근 방법으로는 기하학적인 메쉬 구성요소들 중에서 에지의 특성에 따라 제거 기준을 설정한 후 간략화해 나간다. 에지 축약을 위한 우선순위와 축약 이후 새로운 정점의 위치는 원본 모델을 참조하지 않고 간략화 단계의 모델에서 삼각형의 연결성(connectivity)과 정점의 위치만을 이용하여 계산하였다. 실제 이 방법은 방대한 다각형 메쉬를 간략화할 경우 메모리를 효율적으로 이용할 수 있으며, 처리 속도를 개선할 수 있다. 또한, 간략화이후에도 원본 모델의 위상(topology)을 유지할 수 있는 기법을 제시하고 있다. 세가지 모델에 대한 실험 결과에서 기하학적 에러(geometric error)를 최소화하였고, Heckbert가 제안한 방법(QSlim V2.0)과의 비교에서는 처리 속도가 개선되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 유전 프로그래밍에 기반하여 복잡한 주가지수를 예측함에 있어 사칙연산만을 사용하여 유전 프로그래밍을 구현하는 실험을 소개한다. 전통적인 방법의 주가지수 예측은 적용 분야에 대한 전문 지식과 복잡한 수학적 연산을 요구하여 구현의 어려움과 수행 속도에 문제가 있었다. 본 논문에서는 적용 분야의 전문지식에 의존하지 않는 유전 프로그래밍과 빠른 연산속도의 사칙연산만을 사용하여 이러한 문제점을 극복하는 전략을 사용하였다. 제안된 전략은 실험 결과를 통해 실제 주가지수 변화에 상당히 근접함을 확인하였다.
