KSLV-II Cost Estimate using TRANS COST 7.1 (TRANSCOST 7.1을 적용한 실용위성 발사체 비용추정)

  • Space launch vehicle development needs many kinds of technologies synthetically. Nowadays, KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute) has developed a space launch vehicle, KSLV-I (Korea Space Launch Vehicle-I), that is able to load with an 100kg payload. After that it plans to develop Korean Space Launch Vehicle. As space launch vehicle becomes more complicate and larger, it needs a scientific and analytic development cost estimation. In this paper a cost estimation for KSLV-II using TRANSCOST 7.1 was studied.

  • In December of 1997, Korea Aerospace Research Institute begin to develope the conceptual design of Kompsat2 as the Kompsat1 design is nearly completed. Basic direction of this design was set up to utilized the heritage of Kompsat1 and modify the payload module to accommodate the new high resolution space borne camera. And in the early stage of this design, total system configuration design study was conducted based on 1st level payload information. In this paper, mechanical system design at various stage is documented and this will be used as a path finder or guidelines in the future feasibility study or conceptual design.

  • 다목적실용위성 2호에 탑재 되어 있는 탑재소프트웨어는 위성의 자세, 전력, 열 제어 및 지상 명령 수신, 측정 데이터 수집 등 여러 개의 소프트웨어 모듈로 구성되어 있으며, 각 소프트웨어 모듈은 실시간 운용체제인 VRTX에 의해서 제어된다. 다목적실용위성 2호에서 사용하는 탑재소프트웨어는 일반적인 소프트웨어와 달리 고도의 신뢰성과 안정성을 보장해야 하며 지상과의 통신이 없는 상태에서도 위성을 정상적으로 운용할 수 있어야 하며, 위성 시스템의 장애가 발생시 위성을 안전 모드로 전환 할 수 있어야한다. 본 논문에서는 다중프로세서 구조를 갖는 다목적실용위성 2호의 탑재소프트웨어 초기화 및 태스크를 관리하며 위성의 Health 관리를 담당하는 Executive CSC(Computer Software Component)의 설계와 구현에 대하여 설명한다.

  • 다목적실용위성 2호(KOMPSAT-2)에서는 위성자세 제어를 담당하고 있는 RDU(Remote Drive Unit)의 성능 향상를 위하여 80386 CPU와 함께 80387 Coprocessor를 장착하여 임무수행을 담당한다. 다목적실용위성 1호(KOMPSAT-1)에서는 수치연산을 위하여 상용소프트웨어인 PACLIB를 사용하여 수치연산을 80C186을 이용한 에뮬레이션 방식으로 수행하였지만, 2호기에서는 실질적인 코프로세서를 이용한 수치연산을 수행하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 다목적실용위성 2호에서 사용되는 80387 코프로세서의 초기화 과정과 예외사항 발생시 처리 방법, 80387 코프로세서를 이용한 수치연산 함수 구현 및 libtary 구성 방법에 대하여 설명한다.

  • In this paper, solar cell array of KOMPSAT 1 was modeled and analyzed. The modeling results of solar array were achieved by neural algorithm, which is a powerful nonlinear system modeling tool. Using solar cell array modeling, the solar cell array was analyzed and verified by simulation considering solar cell data of KOMPSAT 1. The characteristics curves and power generation of the solar array are analyzed by using the modeling.

Exploration on Possibility of the Disciplinary Convergence of the User Studies and the Research in Practice (이용자연구와 실용연구 분야의 학제적 융합 가능성 도출 연구)

  • This research aims to discover various aspects of the user studies and the research in practice and also to propose collaboration methods by empirical analysis of the data. To determine the application applicability of the user studies in other subject areas, the degree of keyword overlap between the user studies and the User Experience (UX), one of the research in practice discipline, was measured. The quantitative information science methods including simple frequency analysis were applied to more than ten thousand published papers to generate the network mapping and ranking as well as comparative analysis by time. The analysis result showed that there were slightly lesser overlap between the user studies and the UX in the domestically published articles than the international ones. It also revealed that there is a relationship between the actual occurrences of collaboration and the keyword overlap. The temporal analysis showed that there is increasingly more keyword overlap between two disciplines and thus it is possible to predict the active convergence in the future.

  • Korea is developing a Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite I (KOMPSAT-1) as one of Korea National Space Program, which will be launched in 1999. The EOC (Electro-Optical Camera) is the primary payload for KOMP-SAT-1. The main mission of EOC is to provide the images for the production of scale maps of Korean territory. This research is focused on methodology and possibility for the production of topographic maps using EOC sensor. Since the imagery from EOC is not yet available, SPOT Level 1A image data which are quite similar to those of EOC, and Intergraph Imagestation (Digital Photogrammetric Workstation) are implemented in the process of sample digital map generation. The sample digital maps generated from SPOT stereoimages were compared and analyzed with the existing 1:50,000 scale digital map produced by National Geography Institute. The feasibility and problem encountered in 1:50,000 scale digital mapping using SPOT stereoimages were presented. Based on results, the feasibility and further research areas for KOMPSAT-EOC in the line of 1:25,000 and 1;50,000 digital mapping were discussed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to present improvement measures for enhancing practicality through case analysis of Inner and Outer-Temporary Housing. Method: First, the basic functions and types of Temporary Housing, were discussed through prior research analysis. Second, a practicality problem was derived by analyzing cases of Temporary Housing. Third, improvement measures were proposed to ensure the practicality of Temporary Housing based on the problems identified. Results: Factors such as habitability, economics, construct ability and operation methods that should ultimately be improved in Temporary Housing, and these elements were divided into production, transportation, construction, and storage according to the life cycle, suggesting matters to be improved in order to improve practicality at each stage. Conclusion: The proposed improvements are considered to help develop inner and outer-temporary housing.

  • It has been more than 20 years since the launch of KOMPSAT-1, and so far, a total of 5 satellites have been successfully launched. Until now, KOMPSAT has been used in various fields, including the production of various thematic maps, land change, environmental analysis, and marine monitoring. Many researchers have conducted research to process, analyze, and utilize KOMPSAT images. According to the national space development plan, the KOMPSAT series will be continuously developed to meet the demand for satellite images at the national level. If the ultimate purpose of satellite development is to utilize acquired images, systematic research to effectively utilize the developed satellites should be followed. This special issue introduces the recently conducted research on the use of KOMPSAT images.
