Psycho-acoustic Evaluation and Analysis of the Indoor Noise in Cabins of a Naval Vessel to Specify its Allowable Limit (함정의 실내소음 허용기준 설정을 위한 청감평가 및 분석)

  • The noise inside a naval vessel is very important in considering the need for hearing protection, improving the working environment and maintaining good communications for crews living on board a naval vessel. The indoor noise of a ship usually is specified by the A-weighted sound pressure level, but other evaluating parameters are required to reflect human senses more effectively. This paper uses additional noise indices related to room acoustics, such as NR(noise rating), NC(noise criterion), RC(room criterion), PSIL(preferred speech interference level) and loudness level to evaluate the noise inside cabins on a naval vessel. Using these psychological noise indices, allowable limit of noise level in cabins is suggested through psycho-acoustic evaluation for the noise in cabins.

Interior noise prediction of the Korean high speed train using sound source contribution analysis and sensitivity analysis of wall′s transmission loss (소음원 기여도 해석 및 벽면 투과손실에 대한 민감도 해석에 의한 한국형 고속철도의 실내소음 예측)

  • The interior sound pressure level of the Korean high speed train is predicted using ray acoustic method. The motor car, motorized car and passenger cabin are investigated under the environment of passing open countryside and inside tunnel Calculated sound levels of KHST are compared with the those of KTX prototype which vehicle shows similar acoustic behavior with KHST for the purpose of assuring the calculated data. In order to reduce the calculated SPL in systematic way, contribution analysis of sound sources and sensitivity analysis of concerning wall's transmission loss on the SPL of the designated receiving points are carried out. Finally, practical design suggestions are proposed.

  • 일반적으로 건설장비의 운전자 소음은 자동차와는 달리 주행 시 소음에 관한 것은 크게 문제되지 않는다. 다만 모든 작동부들이 유압력에 의해 구동되므로 유압 이음이 새롭게 대두되며, 엔진 사용조건 또한 자동차와는 상이하다. 그러나, 운전자가 느끼는 관점에서 운전실내에서 안락함의 요구는 점차로 강해지고 있을 뿐만 아니라 소비자들의 직접적인 구매 의욕과 직결된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 굴삭기 운전실에서 문제시 되는 부밍(Booming)소음에 대해 고찰하고, 구조 기인 소음(structure-borne noise)에 초점을 둔 실험적 기법의 도입으로 주 소음원을 규명하고 주요 인자들에 대한 기여도 분석을 통해 운전실 소음 저감을 구현하였다.

  • 차량의 주요 소음원부터 실내 탑승자의 귀의 위치까지 도달되는 소음의 전달에 대한 전체적인 경로 및 주파수특성에 대한 해석은 차량의 구조-음향적인 특성이 복잡하므로 매우 어렵다. 그러나, 중-고주파수에 대한 대책에 있어서는 흡차음재가 유용함은 이미 알려진 사실이다. 차실 벽면에 사용된 흡/차음재는 소음레벨에 부분적인 기여를 함은 물론이고 음질에도 영향을 미친다. 소음 레벨에 있어서는 수백 Hz 이하의 저주파수 성분이 주요하며, 음질에는 중-고주파수 대역의 소음특성이 큰 영향을 미친다[1]. 본 논문에서는, 실험적으로 측정된 소음원의 특성을 수치해석 모델에 이용하여 소음레벨 저감과 음질개선을 위한 흡/차음재의 개선방향을 모색하였다.

Present Condition of Indoor Noise Level in One-Room Type Multi-Family Housings around Campus (대학주변 원룸형 다가구주택의 실내소음수준 실태)

  • The present study is a preliminary research improving the dwelling quality of one-room type multi-family housings around the university campus. The purpose of the study is to investigate the present condition of Indoor noise level using · residents' responses and field measurements. The respondents are 104 residents living in one-room type multi-family housings. The field measurements on equivalent noise level of indoor and outdoor were carried out in 6 subject house units during the $26th\~28th$ of November 2002. The results are as follows. 1) The residents show relatively non-positive responses at evening and night on the present condition of indoor noise. 2) They answer 'living equipment foise' and 'water hammer' as major types of indoor noise of house unit. 3) Outdoor noise levels, basic factor of noise environment in 6 subject buildings were distributed $52.8\~65.3dB(A)Leq_{5min}$ and were inappropriate to the standard for environmental noise, $55 dB(A)Leq_{5min}$. 4) Indoor noise levels of subject house units were measured as $27.5\~63.5dB(A)Leq_{5min}$, the average of each house unit except one house unit was higher than the level feeling as noise, 40dB(A). 5) It was found that the differences of indoor noise levels between subject house units were caused by 'residents' living noise', 'living equipment noise', 'water hammer', and 'walking and talking noise in stairs and corridors'. 6) Therefore, it is required to plan for improving the quality of noise environment in one-room type multi-family housing around the campus. For example, soundproof construction (including double window with pair glass and balcony), outdoor garden with trees and water for increasing natural sound, interior materials with sound absorbing power to absorb living noise, soundproof pipe or double surface pipe for decreasing 'water hammer', and noiseproof floors, etc. are required.

  • Articulation test is a good predictor of spatial speech transmission quality. Like many other languages, articulation testing method using Korean language was proposed in 1989, and which was proved as a valid indicator in rooms with static background noise. In this paper, the testing method is examined in variable noise conditions. According to the experiment performed in 26 classrooms with variable background noise, the proposed articulation testing method using Korean Language is still in variable conditions.

Evaluation of the acoustic environments of open-plan offices in Korean public buildings (국내 공공건축물 개방형 사무실 음환경 평가)

  • Poor indoor acoustic environments negatively affect occupants. Previous research has shown that indoor acoustic environments affect not only task performance and job satisfaction of the occupants, but also their health and well-being. This study aimed for evaluating indoor acoustic environments of open-plan offices located in public buildings in Korea. It also aimed to review the matters that need to be considered in order to improve occupants' acoustic comfort. Indoor noise levels were measured in 13 sites; the measurements were conducted for five consecutive working days from Monday to Friday. The noise levels were evaluated based on the levels recommended by the ISO and the EU ALDREN project. The study found that most of the indoor noise levels measured in the sampled sites during the working hours met the ISO standard. In the case of the levels under unoccupied conditions at night, those at three sites did not meet the recommendation of the ALDREN. In addition, some characteristics of the sites had significant effects on the noise level. Since the exact acoustic performance of the building envelope could not be identified, future research is needed for investigating the relationship between accurate building performance and indoor acoustic environments.

Sound Quality Characteristics for Interior Noise of High Speed Train (음질평가를 통한 고속철도 실내소음의 객관적.주관적 특성 분석)

  • In Korea, the high-speed train is one of the most important mass transportation. Due to its fast speed, the interior noise level is high and it is one of major reason for passenger complaints. In this study, the response of passengers to interior noise was evaluated using sound quality parameters. The effects of various parameters, such as train types, travel speed, rail road, on the calculated sound quality were investigated. The characteristics of interior noise were identified. The obtained results were compared to auditory experimental data. For precise comparison of noises of similar loudness but with different characteristics, paired comparison method was used. From the comparison, important parameters that have influence on the annoyance and loudness of the noise were determined.
