  • This study evaluate user feedback such as physiological response and facial expression when subjects play a social decision making game with interactive virtual agent partners. In the social decision making game, subjects will invest some of money or credit in one of projects. Their partners (virtual agents) will also invest in one of the projects. They will interact with different kinds of virtual agents which behave reciprocated or unreciprocated behavior while expressing socially affective facial expression. The total money or credit which the subject earns is contingent on partner's choice. From this study, I observed that subject's appraisal of interaction with cooperative/uncooperative (or friendly/unfriendly) virtual agents in an investment game result in increased autonomic and somatic response, and that these responses were observed by physiological signal and facial expression in real time. For assessing user feedback, Photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor, Galvanic skin response (GSR) sensor while capturing front facial image of the subject from web camera were used. After all trials, subjects asked to answer to questions associated with evaluation how much these interaction with virtual agents affect to their appraisals.

  • This paper has been shown for the extraction of Doppler signature from the radar signal for an air-breathing targets tracked in the ground radar. For the extractions, a Doppler resolution is confirmed from mathematical modeling of PT(pulse train) waveform. Doppler signatures of air-breathing target are varied to radar aspect angle of engine and are determined from physical parameter of jet engine. To confirm such Doppler signatures, the radar signal reflected from the air-breathing target is obtained by our radar signal storage. After this extraction, radar aspect angle of engine has estimated from tracking information. Relative differences of Doppler signatures to radar aspect angle of engine is verified from these results and Doppler profiles for radar target identification appliance are presented.

  • In this study, for the purpose of collecting and analyzing target-specific RCS data of target signals simulator for verification/improvement of radar system performance, VHF band monostatic/bistatic RCS of civil aircraft(B-747, B-737) and fighter(F-16) models were analyzed by EM simulation tool. In order to reduce the RCS analysis time, the analysis time and RCS data were compared and cross-verified. Also, the analysis range was selected by examining the interpolation error according to the analysis angle resolution. The RCS data obtained for each model were analyzed separately by the incident/reflection elevation angle and frequency. The RCS characteristics according to the shape of the aircraft and the incident/reflection azimuth angle were described. Finally, the statistical RCS distribution value of each model is presented through RCS distribution histogram analysis. In the future, the RCS database obtained by this study will be used for the target signals simulator of the VHF band radar system.

  • Objectives: With the object of finding the appropriate conditions and algorithms for dimensional analysis of human EEG, we calculated correlation dimensions in the various condition of sampling rate and data aquisition time and improved the computation algorithm by taking advantage of bit operation instead of log operation. Methods: EEG signals from 13 scalp lead of a man were digitized with A-D converter under the condition of 12 bit resolution and 1000 Hertz of sampling rate during 32 seconds. From the original data, we made 15 time series data which have different sampling rate of 62.5, 125, 250, 500, 1000 hertz and data acqusition time of 10, 20, 30 second, respectively. New algorithm to shorten the calculation time using bit operation and the Least Trimmed Squares(LTS) estimator to get the optimal slope was applied to these data. Results: The values of the correlation dimension showed the increasing pattern as the data acquisition time becomes longer. The data with sampling rate of 62.5 Hz showed the highest value of correlation dimension regardless of sampling time but the correlation dimension at other sampling rates revealed similar values. The computation with bit operation instead of log operation had a statistically significant effect of shortening of calculation time and LTS method estimated more stably the slope of correlation dimension than the Least Squares estimator. Conclusion: The bit operation and LTS methods were successfully utilized to time-saving and efficient calculation of correlation dimension. In addition, time series of 20-sec length with sampling rate of 125 Hz was adequate to estimate the dimensional complexity of human EEG.

  • This paper proposes a fast direction of arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm that can rapidly estimate incidence angles of incoming signals using a pseudo covariance matrix. The conventional subspace DOA estimation methods such as MUSIC (multiple signal classification) algorithms need many sample signals to acquire covariance matrix of input signals. Thus, it is difficult to estimate the DOAs of signals because they cannot perform DOA estimation during receiving sample signals. Also if the D0As of signals are changing rapidly, conventional algorithms cannot estimate incidence angles of signals exactly. The proposed algorithm obtains bearing response and directional spectrum after acquiring pseudo covariance matrix of each snapshot. The incidence angles can be exactly estimated by using the bearing response and directional spectrum. The proposed DOA estimation algorithm uses only concurrent snapshot so as to obtain covariance matrix. Compared to conventional DOA estimation methods. The proposed algorithm has an advantage that can estimate DOA of signal rapidly.

  • Deramping technique has been widely used to acquire high resolution SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) images for the advantage of the data size and the processing time. However, unwanted spurious signals caused by SAR hardware can be leaked in the process of converting into a digital signal through the ADC(Analog-Digital Converter) and added in a echo signal. These tones make image quality degrade significantly. In order to solve this problem, the unwanted tones need to be detected by analysing the characteristic of the noise tone and then effectively removed from raw data. In this paper, we propose a method for efficiently removing noise tone on the raw data based on the characteristic of spurious signals.

  • In this paper, we present the enhancement results such as availability and accuracy using the GPS L1 and Galileo E1 signal combination. To enhance the acquisition and tracking performance of signal processing in GNSS receiver. several tracking loops with integrator, discriminator, and loop filter module are applied. Also, this paper presents the performance comparison results between prototype receiver equipped with hardware board and software receiver. Also the tracking loop performance of real hardware receiver is verified by comparing with tracking accuracy, sensitivity occurred by the Spirent simulator. Especially, to process the Galileo E1 signal, it is used the a power early late type which is the typical type for DLL discriminator.

  • In various fields of basic science and engineering, in order to present signals and systems exactly and acquire useful information from spatial and timely changes, many researches have been processed. In these methods, the Fourier transform which represents signal as the combination of the frequency component has been applied to the most fields. But as transform not to consider time information, the Fourier transform has its limitations of application. To overcome this problem, a variety of methods including the wavelet transform have been proposed. As transform to represent signal by using the changing window, according to scale parameter in time-scale domain, the wavelet transform is capable of multiresolution analysis and defines various functions according to the application environments. In this paper, to detect features of signal we analyzed wavelet the spectrum by using the basis function of the fourier transform.

  • This paper interprets the relationship between the physical activity of the human and the signal of the brain to show the meaningful results in the process of sending and receiving information to the connected muscles. When a person works or thinks, a specific brain signal is generated from the brain and being trasmmited to the connected part. The EMG signal, which has muscle activity information, outputs the result of the muscle activation as an electrical signal, which outputs muscle activity information usually due to muscle contraction and relaxation. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the two signals, which are difficult to identify easily by visual data extraction and data acquisition by extracting such EMG and EMG in real time.
