Borehole radar is a radar used for underground resources and geological exploration purposes. It needs a high-speed sampler to transmit electromagnetic waves with a pulse width of several ns and to receive reflected waves of several tens to several hundreds of MHz reflected from the object to be surveyed. ETS (Equivalent-Time Sampling), which can achieve sampling performance of several GHz with a sampling frequency of several tens of MHz, is suitable for use as a sampler of a borehole radar receiver. In this paper, we propose a method to control the sampling clock delay, which is the most important factor in ETS sampler design, using four clocks with phase difference of $90^{\circ}$ for one clock source. The proposed method can reduce the time required to acquire the data within the set interval by 1/25 than the conventional method using the delay generator. When the implemented sampler is applied to the receiver of existing borehole radar, it is possible to accumulate 58 additional times due to the shortened sampling time. In addition, by using one delay control logic compared with the conventional method using several sampling clock delay control logic in order to satisfy the target sampling range, it is possible to omit the correction process which was necessary in the past. As a result, the structure of the system can be simplified and a uniform sampler can be realized.

Since the depth of tunneling with tunnel boring machine (TBM) becomes deeper and deeper, the expense for site investigation for coring and geophysical survey increases to obtain the sufficient accuracy. The tunnel ahead prediction methods have been introduced to overcome this limitation in the stage of site investigation. Probe drilling can obtain the core and borehole images from a borehole. However, the space in TBM for the probe drilling equipment is restricted and the core from probe drilling cannot reflect the whole tunnel face. Seismic methods such as tunnel seismic prediction (TSP) can forecast over 100 m ahead from the tunnel face though the signal is usually generated using the explosive which can affect the stability of segments and backfill grout. Electromagnetic methods such as tunnel electrical resistivity prospecting system (TEPS) offer the exact prediction for a conductive zone such as water-bearing zone. However, the number of electrodes installed for exploration is limited in small diameter TBM and finally the reduction of prediction ranges. In this study, the theoretical equations for the electrical resistivity survey whose electrodes are installed in the face and side of TBM to minimize the installed electrodes on face. The experimental tests were conducted to verify the derived equations.

There have been many studies on subject tests for 3D contents using 3D glasses, but there is a limited research for 3D contents using autostereoscopic display. In this study, we investigated to assess usability of electroencephalogram (EEG) as an objective evaluation for 3D contents with different quality using autosteroscopic display, especially for lenticular lens type. The image with optimal quality and the image with distorted quality were separately generated for autostereosopic display with lenticular lens type and displayed sequentially through lenticular lens for 26 subjects. EEG signals of 8 channels from 26 subjects exposed to those images were detected and correlation between EEG signal and the quality of 3D images were statistically evaluated to check differences between optimal and distorted 3D contents. What we found was that there was no statistical significance for a wave vibration, however b wave vibration shows statistically significant between optimal and distorted 3D contents. b wave vibration observed for the distorted 3D image was stronger than that for the optimal 3D image. This results suggest that subjects viewing the distorted 3D contents through lenticular lens experience more discomfort or fatigue than those for the optimum 3D contents, which resulting in the greater b wave activity for those watching the distorted 3D contents. In conclusion, these results confirm that electroencephalogram (EEG) analysis can be used as a tool for objective evaluation of 3D contents using autosteroscopic display with lenticular lens type.
Recently high spatial resolution space-borne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems have launched and have been operated successfully. Interferometric SAR (InSAR) processing with the space-based high resolution observations acquired by these systems can provide more detail information for various geodetic applications. Coherence is regarded as a critical parameter in the evaluating the quality of an InSAR pair. In this study, we evaluate the coherence characteristics of high-resolution data acquired by TerraSAR-X (X-band) and ALOS PALSAR (L-band) and intermediate-resolution data acquired by Envisat ASAR (C-band) over western Texas, U.S.A. Our coherence analysis reveals that the high-resolution X-band TSX (3.1 cm) data has a high coherence level (0.3-0.6), similar to that of the L-band ALOS PALSAR data (23.5 cm) in short temporal baselines. Further more, the TSX coherence values are significantly higher than those of the C-band (5.6 cm) Envisat ASAR data. The higher coherence of the TSX dataset is a surprising result, because common scattering theories suggest that the longer wavelength SAR data maintain better coherence. In vegetated areas the shorter wavelength radar pulse interacts mostly with upper sections of the vegetation and, hence, does not provide good correlation over time in InSAR pairs. Thus, we suggest that the higher coherence values of the TSX data reflect the data's high-resolution, in which stable and coherent scatters are better maintained. Although, however, the TSX data show a very good coherence with short temporal baseline (11-33 days), the coherences are significantly degraded as the temporal baselines are increased. This result confirms previous studies showing that the coherence has a strong dependency on the temporal baseline.
Recently, the grounded electrical-source airborne transient electromagnetic (GREATEM) system with high power source was introduced to achieve deeper investigation depth and to overcome high noise level. Although the GREATEM is a transient electromagnetic system using a long grounded wire as the transmitter, GREATEM data have been interpreted with 1D earth models because 2D or 3D modeling and inversion of vast airborne data are complicated and expensive to calculate. Generally, 1D inversion is subsequently applied to every survey point and combining 1D images together forms the stitched conductivity-depth image. However, the stitched models often result in abrupt variations in neighboring models. To overcome this problem, laterally constrained inversion (LCI) has been developed in inversion of ATEM data, which can yield layered sections with lateral smooth transitions. In this study, we analysed the GREATEM data through 1D numerical modeling for a curved grounded wire source. Furthermore, we developed a laterally constrained inversion scheme for continuous GREATEM data based on a layered earth model. All 1D data sets and models are inverted as one system, producing layered sections with lateral smooth transitions. Applying the developed LCI technique to the GREATEM data, it was confirmed that the laterally constrained inversion can provide laterally smooth model sections that reflect the layering of the survey area effectively.
The traffic management schemes through traffic signal control and information provision could be effective when the link-level data and trip-level data were used simultaneously in analysis Procedures. But, because the trip-level data. such as origin, destination and departure time, can not be obtained through the existing surveillance systems directly. It is needed to estimate it using the link-level data which can be obtained easily. Therefore the objective of this study is to develop the model to estimate O-D demand using only the link flows in highway network as a real time. The methodological approaches in this study are kalman filer, least-square method and normalized least-square method. The kalman filter is developed in the basis of the bayesian update. The normalized least-square method is developed in the basis of the least-square method and the natural constraint equation. These three models were experimented using two kinds of simulated data. The one has two abrupt changing Patterns in traffic flow rates The other is a 24 hours data that has three Peak times in a day Among these models, kalman filer has Produced more accurate and adaptive results than others. Therefore it is seemed that this model could be used in traffic demand management. control, travel time forecasting and dynamic assignment, and so forth.

Landsat TM band ratio algorithms were made by in-water optical measurement data of each sampling points for water quality monitoring of coastal area using Landsat TM satellite data. The algorithm was derived from in-water optical reflectance data which was measuring by the PRR(profiling reflectance radiometer). And, in-water optical reflectance data were applied to Landsat TM bands. Relationship between in-water optical reflectance and pigments proposed by the ratio of TM band 1 and band 2 showed to as follows; $Y=3.8352{\times}(R(band\;1)/R(band\;2))^{-2.1978}$ ($R^2$=0.7069) and, relationship of the ratio of TM band 1 and band 3 as follows; $Y=23.288{\times}(R(band\;1)/R(band\;3))^{-1.5243}$ ($R^2$=0.8062). Calculated the upwelling radiance of water surface and radiance of TM showed the ratio of atmospheric effect. In the coastal area Rayleigh and Mie scattering of atmosphere is to make over 80% of normalized radiance of Landsat TM. In order to apply in-water algorithm obtained by PRR, we had to calculate the atmospheric effects at sampling site. And, the quantitative analysis of in-water components using Landsat TM data need the calibration of in-water algorithm and effective method of atmospheric correction.
In this paper, we propose a video enhancement method using generative adversarial networks to remove raindrops and restore the background information on the removed region in the coastal wave video imagery distorted by raindrops during rainfall. Two experimental models are implemented: Pix2Pix network widely used for image-to-image translation and Attentive GAN, which is currently performing well for raindrop removal on a single images. The models are trained with a public dataset of paired natural images with and without raindrops and the trained models are evaluated their performance of raindrop removal and background information recovery of rainwater distortion of coastal wave video imagery. In order to improve the performance, we have acquired paired video dataset with and without raindrops at the real coast and conducted transfer learning to the pre-trained models with those new dataset. The performance of fine-tuned models is improved by comparing the results from pre-trained models. The performance is evaluated using the peak signal-to-noise ratio and structural similarity index and the fine-tuned Pix2Pix network by transfer learning shows the best performance to reconstruct distorted coastal wave video imagery by raindrops.

In this paper, we propose ubiTrack, a system which tracks users' location in indoor environments by employing infrared-based proximity method. Most of recently developed systems have focussed on performance and accuracy. For this reason, they adopted the idea of centralized management, which gathers all information in a main system to monitor users' location. However, these systems raise privacy concerns in ubiquitous computing environments where tons of sensors are seamlessly embedded into environments. In addition, centralized systems also need high computational power to support multiple users. The proposed ubiTrack is designed as a passive mobile architecture to relax privacy problems. Moreover, ubiTrack utilizes appropriate area as a unit to efficiently track users. To achieve this, ubiTrack overlaps each sensing area by utilizing the TDM (Time-Division Multiplexing) method. Additionally, ubiTrack exploits various filtering methods at each receiver and utilization module. The filtering methods minimize unexpected noise effect caused by external shock or intensity weakness of ID signal at the boundary of sensing area. ubiTrack can be applied not only to location-based applications but also to context-aware applications because of its associated module. This module is a part of middleware to support communication between heterogeneous applications or sensors in ubiquitous computing environments.
This study was conducted in reducing the involuntary motion artifacts because of lungs and heart movements as well as the aliasing artifacts generated during the use of the reduced-FOV EPI technique while performing breast MRI. Performed on a total of 38 obesity female subjects who visited the clinic for pre-examination before surgery within the period from August 1 to November 30, 2014. The 3.0T MRI scanner equipped with a breast scanning coil. Qualitative and quantitative analyses were each used for the evaluation of the acquired images while an Paired T-test and Wilcoxon rank test were performed to check the statistical significance. The variation ratio rose by 15.69% with the additional application of a pre-saturation pulse in the lesion, by 13.72% near the lesion, and 20.63% in the fat and the contrast-to-noise ratio rose by 10.58% in and near the lesion and by 12.03% in the lesion and fat, respectively. there were increases of 22.05% and 21.42% at 0 and 1000 respectively in qulitative evaluation and growth of 16.10% in apparent diffusion coefficient. it showed a statistically significant result(p<0.05) in signal to noise ratio, contrast to noise ratio, diffusion slope coefficient and apparent diffusion coefficient. The involuntary movements artifacts that occur in the phase encoding direction and the aliasing artifacts are considered to be reduced to obtain the best image in the additional use of the pre-saturation pulse as DWI is acquired.
