Accelerometer Signal Processing for a Helicopter Active Vibration Control System (헬리콥터 능동진동제어시스템 가속도 신호 처리)

  • LMS (least mean square) algorithm widely used in the AVCS (active vibration control system) of helicopters calculates control input using the forward path transfer function and error signal. If the error signal is sinusoidal, it can be represented as the combination of cosine and sine functions with frequency and phase synchronized with the reference signal. The control input also has the same frequency, therefore control algorithm can be simply implemented if the cosine and the sine amplitudes of the control input are calculated and the frequency and phase of the reference signal are used. Calculation of the control input is implemented as simple matrix operation and the change of the control command is slower than the frequency of the error signal, consequently control algorithm can be operated at lower frequency. The signal processing algorithm extracting cosine and sine components of the error signals are modeled using Simulink and PIL (processor-in-the-loop) mode simulation was executed for real-time performance evaluation.

The first article is naturally confined to the basic tools namely random process analysis and characterization of random signal by covariance function.

A Study on a Signal Processing Method for Detection of the Weld seam by Using Laser Displacement Sensor (레이저 변위센서를 이용한 용접선 검출에서 신호처리에 관한 연구)

  • The weld seam tracking sensor is indispensable to improve the flexibility of automatic arc welding systems. Among the position sensing methods available, a laser displacement sensor is one of the most prevailing methods. In this study, a laser displacement sensor was examined on detecting the weld seam of lap joints in sheet metal arc welding. The output signal of the laser displacement sensor may ontain severe fluctuation from the effect of arc light, spatters, fume, etc. So a variety of signal processing methods was applied to smooth the output signal of the sensor. And then the weld joint was determined by using the central difference method. It was revealed that the quadratic mean method plays an important role in detecting the weld seam during welding especially.

  • This paper proposes an improved heartbeat signal extraction method for ballistocardiography(BCG)-based heart-rate measurement on mobile environment. First, from a mobile facial video, a handshake-free head motion signal is extracted by tracking facial features and background features at the same time. Then, a novel signal periodicity computation method is proposed to accurately separate out the heartbeat signal from the head motion signal. The proposed method could robustly extract heartbeat signals from mobile facial videos, and enabled more accurate heart rate measurement (measurement errors were reduced by 3-4 bpm) compared to the existing method.

  • The proposed method uses a signal of the smae frequency as the input modulating carrier frequency and of a different phase. This signal is generated in the digital automatic frequency control part to decide the input color demodulated signal. And the phase error from the burst signal is calculated. The calculated phase error is utilized to rmove the phase error contained inthe demodulated color signal. In this paper, digital signal processing of automatic color control is proposed for VCR system campatible with both NTSC and PAL TV systems.

Elderly Speech Signal Processing: A Systematic Review for Analysis of Gender Innovation (노인음성신호처리: 젠더혁신 분석에 대한 체계적 문헌고찰)

  • The purpose of this study is to review systematically the literatures on the research of the elderly speech signal processing based on the domestic gender innovation and to introduce the utility and innovation of the gender analysis methods. From 2000 to present, among the 37 research papers published in the Korean Journal, 25 papers were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. And gender analysis methods were applied to gender research subject and design. Research results show diversity of research field and high gender recognition of R & D team are needed in research and development of engineering of gender innovation perspective. In addition, government-level regulation and research funding should be systematically applied to gender innovation research processes in the elderly voice signal processing and various gender innovation projects. In the future gender innovation in the elderly speech signal processing can contribute to the creation of a new market by developing a voice recognition system and service that reflects the needs of both men and women.

  • In DS/CDMA system the number of output signal levels increases as multi-channel signals are summed, hence the power amplifier with high linearity is required. PW/CDMA is a transmission technique that performs pulse width modulation on the multilevel signal synthesized from multiple channel data. In PW/CDMA system the signal level is maintained to be binary, hence the modulation and demodulation circuits become simple. In this paper we derive the probability of bit error of the PW/CDMA system in AWGN environment. The results are compared with DS/CDMA system and are verified through the computer simulations.

  • In this paper, we want to implement a noise canceller by using FIR filter on DSP(Digital Signal Processor). The FIR filter was designed by Blackman window together with desired band width and center frequency. We adopt Motorola DSP56002 and Crystal CS4215 (A/D and D/A converter) for our purpose. we generate input sinusoidal signals and noises by differential equations and pseudo random sequences on DSP also. The input signal including sinusoidal and noise passes through the FIR filter. The FIR filer output is a sinusoidal signal with noise reduced.

  • Ultrasonic imaging is the most widely used modality among modern imaging device for medical diagnosis and the system performance has been improved dramatically since early 90's due to the rapid advances in DSP performance and VLSI technology that made it possible to employ more sophisticated algorithms. This paper describes "main stream" digital signal processing functions along with the associated implementation considerations in modern medical ultrasound imaging systems. Topics covered include signal processing methods for resolution improvement, ultrasound imaging system architectures, roles and necessity of the applications of DSP and VLSI technology in the development of the medical ultrasound imaging systems, and array signal processing techniques for ultrasound focusing.
