This study was conducted to reveal the effects of pork consumption on the renal and hematochemical indices of workers occupationally exposed to an unclean environment for 6 weeks. Forty-five free-living volunteers were recruited from the workers employed in a car-engine part factory and a leather dyeing company in the Gyeonggi area. Volunteers were to submit a subject consent form prior to the study. They were asked to complete a questionnaire on dietary habits, and blood and urine samples were collected before and after the pork consumption trial. Pork dishes were fed twice weekly (150g per meal) as part of lunch or dinner at the work place. Urine N-Acetyl-${\beta}$-D-glucosamidase (NAG) levels were reduced after the trial, but total-cholesterol, HDL-and LDL-cholesterol levels did not change. However, triglyceride levels did increase significantly (p<0.005). The Zn, Pb, and Cd concentrations in serum tended to decrease, though without statistical significance. In conclusion, the regular consumption of pork may be beneficial for renal functions, however further research in this area is needed.

Purpose : Efforts to predict long-term outcome of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis(FSCS) have been made but have yielded conflicting results. Reports are rare especially in Pediatric patients. In this study, we reviewed the predictable prognostic factors in patients of FSGS Method : Fifty children who diagnosed as biopsy-proven FSGS at department of pediatrics at Yonsei university were studied retrospectively. Based on medical records, response to treatment and pathologic slides, we compared normal renal function group and decreased renal function group, assessed the factors affecting renal survival and progression to renal failure. Results : The mean age at onset was 8 1/12 years, sex ratio was 2.3 : 1, and the mean duration of follow-up was 7 1/12 years. The overall renal survival rate was $34\%$ at 5 years, $8\%$ at 10 years Five-year survival rate was $74\%$ in normal renal function group and $27\%$ in decreased renal function group. Between the two groups, there were no significant differences in age at onset, sex ratio, amount of proteinuria, incidence of hematuria and hypertension, mesangial hypercellularity. Decreased renal function group showed higher serum creatinine level, poor response to treatment, higher percent of glomeruli with sclerosis, moderate to severe tubulointerstitial change and vascular change(P<0.05). The prognostic factors of renal survival rate were same as above and incidence of hypertension also affected renal survival( P<0.05). The progression rate to renal failure did not show statistically significant factor. Conclusion : We reviewed the factors affecting long-term outcome of FSGS. Serum creatinine level, steroid responsiveness, and the degree of glomerulosclerosis were significant prognostic factors. (J Korean Soc Pediatr Nephrol 2001 ;5 : 125-35)

This paper proposes CMOS optical receivers to reduce effective area and pulse width distortion (PWD) in high definition digital audio interfaces. To mitigate effective area and PWD, proposed receivers include a frans-impedance amplifier (TIA) with dual output and a level shifter with threshold convergence, respectively. Proposed circuits are fabricated using $0.25{\mu}m$ CMOS process and measured result demonstrated the effective area of $270\times120{\mu}m^2$ and PWD of ${\pm}3%$ for the receiver with a dual output TIA, and the effective area of $410\times140{\mu}m^2$ and PWD of ${\pm}2%$ for the receiver with a threshold convergence level shifter.

센싱(Sensing)기술은 우주기기로부터 가정 전기제품에 이르기까지 넓은 분야에 적용되고 있다. 특히 최근의 센싱기술은 마이크로 일렉트로닉스의 발전으로 마이크로화, 인텔리전트화, 디지털화, 네트워크화라는 키워드로 표현될 만큼 진보하고 있다. 앞으로도 신기술은 폭넓은 분야에서 소비자 니즈에 대응하기 위하여 새로운 센서디바이스(Sensor Device)를 개발하고 또한 새로운 센싱시스템(Seneing System)을 구축하여 신기능을 실현시켜 가는 것이 필요할 것이다. 센싱기술의 발전경위를 종합해 보면 다음과 같은 것을 새각할 수 있다. (1) 아날로그에서 디지털 방식으로 (2) 전기, 기계에서 일렉트로닉스, 메커트로닉스로 (3) 스탠드얼론에서 시스템화, 네트워크화로 (4) 자동화, 최적화에서 인텔리전트화로 (5) 1차원 센싱에서 2차원, 나아가 3차원 센싱에로 이롸같은 기술의 배경으로는 다음과 같은 것을 들 수 있다. (1) 마이크로 일렉트로닉스의 발전에 의한 고성능$\cdot$저가격 마이크로 프로세서의 출현 (2) 센싱시트템을 실현하는 통신$\cdot$네트워크기술의 고도화 (3) 신소재, 미세가공 기술에 의한 센서의 고성능화 (4) 소프트웨어, 정보처리기술의 진보 특히 마이크로 프로세서의 진보는 테크놀로지 드라이버로서의 역할을 다하여 시스템의 소형화, 고속고정도화, 저가격화 등을 실현해 가고 있다.

21세기 기업의 경쟁력은 인터넷에 자신만의 비즈니스를 얼마나 효과적으로 접목시키는가에 달려있다. 이런 의미에서 최근 기존 시스템을 인터넷 환경으로 전환하려는 움직임이 일고 있다. 이 글에서는 인터넷 시스템 구축을 위한 애플리케이션의 추이와 파리크라상 점포지원 시스템 구축에 사용된 Oracle Designer, Oracle Developer & Server 6.0의 신기능 및 Feature에 대하여 간략하게 살펴본다. 더불어 인터넷 애플리케이션 구축 사례로 파리크라상의 점포지원시스템에 대하여 살펴 보도록 한다.
