The Changes in the Dietary Pattern and Health and Nutritional status of Korean During the last one Century (지난 일세기 동안의 한국인 식습관의 변화와 보건영양상태의 추이 분석)

  • The changes in the dietary pattern of Koreans during the last one century and its consequences are summarized as follows; 1. Until the beginning of 20th century, Koreans used variety of cereals, vegetables and fruits for their staple food, but the variety has been largely reduced by the agricultural development and urbanized life style. 2. The well balanced traditional dietary pattern of Korean had been deeply deteriorated by the food shortage during the Japanese occupation and Korean war. 3. The deteriorated nutritional condition of Korean was not remedied by the restoration of traditional dietary pattern, but attempted to overcome it by the adoption of Western food habit. 4. The people were trained to eat milk and flour-meals during the starvation of Korean war, and it was continued after Korean war through the animal husbandry promotion policy. 5. The importation of food and feed cereals has been increased rapidly during the economic growth in 1970's and the food self-sufficiency droped below 50%. 6. In 1970's, the food supply pattern of Korean was restored to the level of early 1900, but the consumption of lipid increased extraordinarily. 7. The overconsumption of animal food and lipid continues in 1980's, and it coincides with the rapid increase in the occurence of food related degenerative deseases. 8. The establishment of Korean dietary goal which is based on the traditional dietary pattern is needed.

Profitability Analysis Based on Cropping System of the Land Use Changes in Paddy Field (논 타작물 재배 작부체계별 수익성 분석)

  • A comparative analysis of farm incomes was performed from the new composition system of crops, such as feed crops, including soybeans, Italian ryegrass, soybean-potatoes, and soybean-barley planted in rice fields. Through this analysis, the suggested implications were derived, and the technological solutions were determined. The profitability of the composition of soybean-Italian ryegrass showed that the soybeans yield was 325kg/10a, and the sale price was ₩3,962/kg, leading to a gross revenue of ₩1,288,000/10a. The yield of Italian ryegrass was 1,584kg/10a with a sale price of ₩125/kg, showing a gross revenue of ₩198,000/10a. The net income of soybeans was ₩284,000/10a, which means a net income rate of 22.1%, whereas the net income of Italian ryegrass was -₩30,000/10a. The composition of soybeans-potatoes and soybeans-barley showed a gross revenue of ₩930,000/10a and ₩375,000/10a, respectively. The crop composition types have been developed for the Income Type, Production Type of Forage, Improvement Type of Food Self-Sufficiency, and Corresponding Type to Climate Change. On the other hand, regional types have not been developed sufficiently. In addition, various selections of alternative crops and the establishment of crop composition congruent to the specific regions should be developed systematically in terms of the production technology. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the technological establishment of the crop composition through continuous related studies with the mid-to-long term objectives of land utilization and grain self-sufficiency rates.

Growth, Productivity and Forage Values of Winter Cereal Crops at Paddy Fields in the Southern Region of Korea (남부지역 논에서 동계 맥류의 생육특성, 생산성 및 사료가치)

  • In order to select high-quality winter cereal crops with high yield and to increase self-sufficiency rate of forage, their growth, yield, and feeding value of several cereal crops cultivated in winter were investigated in the paddy field of the southern region. Four wheat cultivars and green barley headed in early and mid-April, while oat and Italian ryegrass headed in early May. Fresh forage yields of wheats, green barley, and oat were significantly higher than that of Italian ryegrass, and dry forage yields of wheats and green barley were significantly higher than those of not only Italian ryegrass but also oat. In particular, the yield of a wheat cultivar 'Cheongwoo' was the highest. Mineral contents of wheat forages, even though low, were in the range 27.8~33.7mg·g-1 DW suitable for feeding cattle and young female cows. Crude protein content of a wheat cultivar 'Cheongwoo' was high up to 7.6%, similarly to 7.0% requiring for feeding cattle. Feeding values such as total digestible nutrients (TDN) and relative feed value (RFV) of wheats and green barley were superior to those of oat and Italian ryegrass. In addition, dry matter rates of 4 wheat cultivars and green barley were in the range 30~40%, indicating that wheat cultivars and green barley could be used for various feeding purposes such as green or dried forage, and silage. Based on these results, wheat cultivars including 'Cheongwoo' and green barley could be encouraged to be cultivated in paddy fields, as high-quality winter forage crops with high yield.

MenuGen: Menu Planning and Recommended Menu Search System for Promotion of Self Sufficiency of Korean Food (MenuGen: 한국 식량자급률 향상을 위한 인터넷 기반의 권장식단검색 및 식단작성 프로그램)

  • This study was conducted to develop menugen program: Korean recommended menu planning and search based on internet to promote self sufficiency of food in Korea. This program manipulate menu and search 432 Korean recommended menus which have been developed in combination of population characteristics of 9 age level, 3 residential areas, 3 income groups, four seasons and male or female. Clients can select the high self sufficiency recommended menu by inputting their age, residental area, income, season and sex in using Menugen program. MenuGen can analyze nutrients and compare with Korean Recommended Allowance about clients' menu based on their age and sex. It can access the food, dish and menu databases. And also client can use MenuGen program for menu planning and analysis nutrients. Client's menu data can be store, delete, modify and print through MenuGen too. It will be able to read the nutrition analysis data of the foods, the dishes and the menu. Therefore it provides convenient user interface to not only users but also dietitians and nutritionists, who take charge of making a menu, and experts in the field of food and nutrition. MenuGen will help the nutrition policy accomplishment and the food self-supply rate improvement of the nation with use of menu drawing up program of internet base.

  • 우리나라의 농업은 주곡의 지속적인 자급기반을 마련하고 이제 단순한 농사형태에서 벗어나 새로운 소득작목을 개발하고 합리적인 경영개선을 통하여 소득을 높이는 상업농시대에 접어들게 되었다. 따라서 상업농시대에는 농업도 새로운 기술을 바탕으로 질 높은 농산물을 안정적으로 생산공급할 수 있는 기술의 확보가 더욱 요구되고 있다. 최근 농산물수입개방 시대에 접어들게 되면서 우리 농산물도 국제경쟁력향상을 위한 품질향상 및 새로운 소득작물의 개발이 절실히 요구되는 시점에 와있다. 여러 지방지치단체에서 그 지방에 알맞은 소득작물을 개발하여 많은 소득을 올리고 있는 사례를 많이 볼 수 있다. 예로서 보성의 녹차, 무안의 무화과, 구례의 오이 등이 대표적인 예라고 할 수 있다. 여러 농업연구기관에서도 과학적인 토양연구로 세부정밀토양조사를 실시하고 작물재배의 부적지에 대해서는 토양개량방법을 연구하고 있으며 그에 따른 시비추천과 소득작물의 적지적작추천을 하고 있다. 국내에서도 GIS의 발전 및 RS의 발전과 더불어 친환경농업의 일환으로 정밀농업분야에 많은 관심이 집중되고 있다. 정밀농업은 농업생산기술 분야에서 아직 생소한 접근방법으로서 여기에서는 지구측위시스템(GPS)와 지리정보시스템(GIS), 원격탐사(RS)기법들이 많이 응용되고 있다. 또한 농업의 1차(식량생산)적인 목적에서 2차, 3차(소득증대 및 부가가치 증대)적인 목적으로 변화되고 있다. 각 지자체에서 그 지역에 적합한 농산물 재배를 위한 재배단지 확산방안 연구가 진행중에 있으며, 과거 토양속성인자를 가지고 재배적지 선정을 해왔으나, 본 연구에서는 GIS와 RS을 중첩하여 적지선정에 관한 최적의 시스템을 구현하였다. 이런 적지 선정을 통하여 유기농업의 실현을 도모하여 소비자의 욕구에 맞는 작물 생산 및 농촌관광단지 조성을 통해 부가가치증대 및 소득증대를 꾀함으로 농촌문제 해결에 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다. 본 연구를 통해 GIS 와 RS의 기술이 농촌분야에 더 효율적으로 적용될 것으로 기대되며, 농업기술센터를 통한 정보제공을 함으로써 대농민 서비스 및 농업기관의 위상이 제고 될 것으로 기대된다.

Recognition of Farmer and Urban Resident on Pesticide Toxicity (농약의 독성에 대한 농민과 도시민의 인지도 분석)

  • This study examined how does farm producers and urban consumers recognize the toxicity of pesticides application to agricultural production. The survey was carried out with quesuonnaires, and found tile fellowing results. The 60% of the total respondents in urban residents acknowledged that it is necessary for farming to apply pesticides. Nevertheless, they think that pesticides application have excessively been done more than necessary, and they would cause the problem of agrochemical-residual in agricultural products. They preferred to the crops produced by organic-farming. But they do not believe that the organic crops are pure one that pesticides are not applied at all. They thought that pesticides remained in the crops and they cause a chronic toxicity and cancer, though their degree of causing cancer would not be high. The other hand, farmers among the total respondents expressed that pesticides are absolutely needed to farming. However, about half of the total farmers' respondents did not follow the recommended guide line for proper use of pesticides and applied its double amount of the recommended dose. The most of farmers thought that the applied pesticides would be persisted into the crops. The 69 % of the total respondents did not know that crops over MRL(Maximum Residue Limit) of pesticides must be discarded and tile farmer who distributed the crops over MRL of pesticides have to pay some kind of penalty.

  • 자연자원은 부족하고 국토는 협소한 대신 인구는 많은 우리나라가 경제자립과 자주국방을 달성하기 위해서는 과학기술의 개발이 무엇보다 중요하다. 그간 우리나라는 공업화추진의 필요성과 과학기술의 중요성에 대한 깊은 인식을 바탕으로하여 과학기술개발을 강력히 추진한 결과 개발도상국으로서는 하나의 보범적인 발전을 이룩하게 됐다. 그러나 앞으로 중화학공업의 건설과 국제경쟁력배양을 통한 수출의 획기적인 신장, 농촌근대화와 식량의 자급, 국내부존자원의 활용의 극대화등 우리경제가 해결해야할 어려운 문제들이 많다는 데서 과학기술의 급속한 발전을 위해 더욱 주력할 필요가 있다. 과학기술처는 우리나라 과학기술의 발전을 위해 지난 1동안에 70년대의 과학기술진흥시책방향인 과학기술의 기반구축, 산업기술의 발전, 과학기술의 풍토 조성등 3대시책방향에 합치되도록 모든 역량을 집결시켰다. 그 결과 중화학공업의 건설과 수출전략산업을 구축하기 위한 5대전략산업연구소의설립과 국내연구체제의 획기적인 정비를 위한 대덕연구학원도시의 건설사업을 계속추진하여 왔으며 과학기술의 풍토조성을 위해 새마을기술봉사단의 활동을 강화하는 동시 재구 한국인과학기술자를 초청하여 학술회의를 개최하는 등 각종 학술활동을 지원하였다. 또한 두뇌개발과 기능숙달에 역량을 두어 한국과학원에서 첫졸업생을 캐출하여 고급두뇌를 처음으로 우리 손으로 산업계와 과학기술계에 내보냈으며 국가기술자격검정을 본격적으로 실시 (16만9천명 대상)함으로써 산업계가 필요로 하는 많은 기능자를 확보하는데 이바지하였다. 한편 서울연구개발단지내 제기관의 활동도 활발하여 KIST는 국내최초로 미니콤퓨터를 개발하였고 KAERI는 원자력의 평화적이용의 일환으로 대단위방사선가공처리시설을 완공하였으며 KORSTIC은 TK 30 소형전산기를 도입 정보처리의 전산화를 이룩하는등 괄복할만한 성과를 거두었다. 75년도에 과학기술처가 이룩한 주요성과를 요약하면 다음과같다.

Status of Maize Production and Distribution in South East Asia (동남아시아 옥수수 생산 및 유통현황)

  • The maize production in South-eastern Asian countries showed a continuous increase with increasing poultry-livestock from the beginning of the 1990s to early 2010. Also the need for a new variety development of each contries was increased rapidly in the same period. Single-Cross hybrid varieties have been developed and supplied from 2001 instead of multi-cross maize varieties since 1992 in Indonesia. In Cambodia, CP group is mainly manufacturing feeds with most of the forage maize from farmers who are growing its seeds from the company. Cambodian main cultivars are varieties of multinational corporations such as DK8868 from Monsanto, NK6326, NK7328 from Syngenta and CP333 from CP group including local business company. Vietnam is the main maze importing country in South-Eastern Asia which had imported 13 times scale of amount compared to exports in average from 1990 to 2011. Vietnamese government has developed a range of varieties for improving their efficiency in production, such as the LVN-10 with political investments. Their production has been reached to 80% of the total. According to the 2012 MIFAFF (Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) data in Korea, domestic edible maize cultivation area was approximately 15,000ha. It showed 74,399 tons of production, 3.8% of food self-sufficiency in maize and around 0.9% of grain self-sufficiency rate. The consumption of grain is mostly rely on imports in Korea. To overcome the limit of the domestic seed market and increase maize self-sufficiency, the need to develop maze varieties for world-class is increasing at present through analyzing the market trend and prospect of the seed industry in South-eastern Asia.

Prediction of fertilizer demands up to the year of 2,000 from agronomic view points - Review and Discussion - (농경학적(農耕學的) 입장(立場)에서 본 서기(西紀) 2,000년(年)까지의 비료수요(肥料需要) 전망(展望) - 종합고찰(綜合考察) -)

  • The objective of this paper is to summarize and disicuss the results of studies for the prediction of fertilizer demands up to the year of 2000, from the agromic biew points. 1. The approximated demands of fertilizers figured out from the view point of nutrient requirement and fertilizer efficiency of major crops are 1,162,000M/T (N;554,100 M/T, $P_2O_5$; 360,100 M/T and $K_2O$, 247,000 M/T) at 1980, 1,471,400 M/T (N: 694,800 M/T, $P_2O_5$;465,400M/T and $K_2O$ ;311,200 M/T) at 1990 and 1,764,00 M/T (N;812,500 M/T, $P_2O_5$; 592,300 M/T and $K_2O$;359,200 M/T) at 2000${\cdots}{\cdots}$ (Approximation I) 2. Upon the basis of approximation on the yield levels of major crops per unit area and on the expansion of arable land, the demands of fertilizers at the years of 1980, 1990 and 2000 are predicted as 1,149,300 M/T (N;603,700 M/T $P_2O_5$; 305,500 M/T and $K_2O$, 240,100 M/T) 1,551,100 M/T(N:814,700M/T, $P_2O_5$;412,300 M/T and $K_2O$;324,00 M/T) and 2,253,800 M/T (N;1,183,800M/T, $P_2O_5$; 586,400M/T and $K_2O$, 470,900 M/T), respectively${\cdots}{\cdots}$(Approximation II) 3. When the recent relationships between the increases in yeid of major crops and the amounts of fertilizers for those crops per unit area are brought into consideration for the estimation of future demands of fertilizers, the predicted demands at the years of 1980, 1990 and 2000 are 1,287.600 M/T (N;677,100 M/T, $P_2O_5$; 342,000 M/T, and $K_2O$;268,500 M/T), 2,085,600M/T (N;1,096,700 M/T, $P_2O_5$;533,900 M/T, and $K_2O$;435,000 M/T and 3,380,600 M/T (N;1,777,800M/T, $P_2O_5$;897,800M/T and $K_2O$;705,000M/T) respectively (Approximation III) 4. Approximation I will be closer estimate under such condition that only rice will maintain self suficiency and other food crops will be covered by domestic production by around 50 percent, which is not desirable situation. 5. When higher self suficiency leveles of major food crops are sought through the introduction of improved varieties and expansion of cropping area and arable land by increased land utilization and reclamation of hillside land and tidal land, the Approximations II and III will become close to reality, If improved fertilizers and improved method of fertilizer applications are widely applied at the farmers fields to increase the fertilizer efficiency the former will be closer figure, if not, the latter may be better estimates.

  • 우리나라의 간척사업은 고려시대 중엽부터 서남해안에 다수 산재되어 있는 천혜적인 간척 적지를 대상으로 지속적으로 추진되어 국토확장 및 식량 자급달성에 기여하여 왔다. 그러나, 최근 들어 쌀 수급 등 농업정책의 변화, 비용에 대한 경제성 평가의 변화, 개발과 보전에 관한 이해당사자간의 대립 등으로 신규 간척사업의 추진이 어려워지고 기존 간척지의 토지이용 목적 변화와 이치수 기능개선을 목적으로 배수갑문을 확장하는 등의 사업이 추진되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 방조제 상류지역 및 지천에서 이상홍수 유입에 따른 방조제 안정성 검토를 실시하였다. 호내로 유입되는 빈도별 홍수량에 따른 각 지점별 수위변화를 이용하여 방조제 비상대처계획에 대한 재난관리 지표로 활용할 수 있는지를 확인한다. 이를 위해 선정된 방조제를 중심으로 빈도별 홍수량을 산정하여 수문학적 안정성을 검토하고, 빈도별 홍수량에 따른 호내의 홍수위 변화를 통하여 비상대처계획 시나리오를 구성하고자 한다. 새만금 유역의 수치모델링에 필요한 범위를 설정하고, 모델 구성 및 자료를 입력한 후 검 보정을 통하여 모델의 신뢰성을 검증한 후 모델운영 조건을 설정하였다. 새만금 종합개발계획(MP)이 완료되었을 경우를 가정하여 통합운영을 실시하였다. 호내 관리수위에 따른 100, 200, 500, PMF 홍수량 유입시에 호내 홍수위 모의를 수행하였다. 또한, 비상단계 중 초기단계인 '관심단계'를 "이상홍수 발생부터 관리수위 EL-1.5m까지"로 설정한다면 방조제 초기 재난대응이 유리해 질 것으로 판단된다. 또한, '주의단계'는 "관리수위 EL-1.5m부터 호내 관리홍수위 EL+1.5m까지"로 '경계단계'를 "호내 관리홍수위 EL+1.5m부터 제당 내측사석보호공 홍수위까지", '심각단계'를 "제당 내측사석보호공(만경유역 EL+4.5m, 동진유역 EL+2.5m) 이상의 홍수위"로 설정한다면 방조제 관리자에게 세부화된 정보 및 지표를 제공해 줄 것이라 판단된다. 방조제 비상상황 단계별 분류에서 이상홍수위 발생후의 시간을 수치모의를 통해 구분하였으며 정성적인 위기상황 판단이 아닌 구체적인 수치로 된 지표들을 방조제 위기상황 재난지표로 활용한다면 상황 관리자의 위기상황 판단과 대처를 위한 의사결정에 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.
