Optical Evaluation of MR8 Material spectacle Lens with a New Method for the Analysis of Blue Light (새로운 청광 분석법을 적용한 MR8 안경재료의 광학적 시험 평가)

  • Purpose : We present a novel method for the analysis of blue light applied by the analysis method of David L. with optical experiment and blue light by measuring the transmittance by dividing it by the refractive power in the spectacle lens made by MR8. Methods : The lenses of -8.00D, -7.00D, -6.00D, -5.00D, -4.00D, -3.00D, and 0.00D manufactured by MR8 being sold in the market, were selected. The transmittance was measured at the intervals of 5 nm from 200 to 1000 nm with UV-VIS Spectrophotometers (SolidSpec 3700), and they were in range of the blue light (380 to 500 nm) analyzed by a David L.'s analysis method. Results : All of the MR8 lenses selected for this study almost completely blocked at the UV range. A lens of -8.00D was measured as the lowest transmittance of 59.56% in the blue light area and low values were measured at the blue areas 1 and 2 according to the analysis of David L.In the infrared ray area, the transmittance of all lenses gradually decreased. The average value of the luminous transmittance was 23.67% ~ 26.33% and then gradually decreased from -4.00D. Conclusion : Applying the analysis of David L., a minimum of 41.28% and a maximum of 46.60% were measured at the blue light 1 area and a minimum of 87.30% and a maximum of 97.55% were measured at the blue light 2 area. A minimum of 86.83% and a maximum of 96.55% were measured at the blue light 3 area, and the average was 94%. The luminous transmittance of the -3.00D lens was 26.33%, which was the highest, and that -8.00D was 23.67%, which was the lowest.

The Developement of Small 360° Oral Scanner Lens Module (소형 360° 구강 스캐너 렌즈 모듈 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose the development of a small $360^{\circ}$ oral scanner lens module. The proposed small $360^{\circ}$ oral scanner lens module consists of a small $360^{\circ}$ high resolution(4MegaPixel) lens optical system, a 15mm image sensor unit, and a small $360^{\circ}$ mouth scanner lens external shape. A small $360^{\circ}$ high resolution lens optical system produces a total of nine lenses, the outer diameter of the lens not less than 15mm for use by children through the ages of adulthood. Light drawn by a small $360^{\circ}$ high resolution lens optical system is $90^{\circ}$ flexion so that image images are delivered to image sensors. The 15mm image sensor unit sends the converted value to the ISP(Image Signal Processor) of the embedded board after an image array through the column and the row address of the image sensor. The small $360^{\circ}$ mouth scanner lens outer shape was designed to fix the race to the developed lens. Results from authorized testing agencies to assess the performance of proposed small $360^{\circ}$ oral scanner lens modules, The optical resolving power of $360^{\circ}$ lens was more than 30% at 150 cycles/mm, $360^{\circ}$ lens angle was $360^{\circ}$ in vertical direction, $42^{\circ}{\sim}85^{\circ}$ in vertical direction, and lens distortion rate was 5% or less. It produced the same result as the world's highest level.

  • The setup of the moir$\acute{e}$ deflectometry using the virtual grating was done, so the convergence and divergence of a pencil of ray was determined. The light source was He-Ne laser(3mW). The focal length of the first lens, the second lens being 18 mm, 250 mm respectively was used for the setup of the beam expander. The optics of the moir$\acute{e}$ deflectometry determining the vergence was used a diffraction grating(pitch = $1.6{\mu}m/line$) and a front flat reflection mirror. The effective focal length of the trial lens set was measured and compared with the theoretical value.

  • 1)iscussed in this paper are the effects of phase modulation on the line spread functions (LSF) and MTFs of ;I binocular objective system. The binocular objective lens is made in Korea. It has rotationally symmetric aberrations. The LSFs and MTFs are measured experimentally. The phase modulation is carried out by applying phase retardation $\pi$ on the aperture. The area where the phase is not retarded presents a double annular type. The OTF curves of phase modulated aperture are compared with that of unmodulated aperture. The comparison shows that there is the aberration compensation effect in aberration loaded system. Therefore the performance of many optical system can be improved without any loss of light energy by properly modulating the phase on the aperture.

  • One dimensional inhomogeneous aperture modulation effects on the MTF of optical system was investigated. The lens under test was a doublet made in Korea. It has 10 mm effective diameter, 87.8 mm effective focal length. The ray-fans and spot diagrams were calculated and presented on the picture for on-axis and off-axis (field of view, $1^{\circ}$ and $2^{\circ}$). Aperture modulation was carried out by positioning a aperture modulator close contacter with the lens under test. We bought two modulators from Edmud Company in U.S.A. One was linear type and the other was stepped type. The MTFs were measured on the best of focus for each modulated aperture where the MTF has the highest value for 60 line/mm and were compared with one another. For on-axis, the MTFs of some modulated apertures had higher values than the MTF of unmodulated aperture in the high frequency region. In the case of off-axis, at the field of view $1^{\circ}$, the MTF values of some modulated aperture are improved prominently and some other one are disimproved. At the field of view $2^{\circ}$ most of the MTFs of modulated apertures had lower values than the MTF of unmodulated aperture except the MTFs of linear and inverse linear type aperture in the high frequency area. But the values of MTFs in high frequency region were too low for actual use.

Analysis of Evaluation Methods for the Efficacy of Protein Removal Agents for Soft Contact Lens (소프트콘택트렌즈 단백질제거제의 효능 평가법 분석)

  • Purpose: The present study was conducted to establish the experimental condition for the proper evaluation of protein removal efficacy when developing protein removal agents. Its protein removal efficacy was further analyzed and compared with the result from protein removal efficacy against protein deposition on contact lens to suggest the evaluation method for efficacy of protein removal agents. Methods: Protein digestibility assay presented in the Korean pharmacopoeia was selected to establish the evaluation method for efficacy of papain, pancreatin, subtilisin A and protease itself as a ingredient and protein removal tablets or solution containing those enzymes and find a suitable test conditions. Furthermore, the cleaning efficacy of commercially available protein removal tablets and solution on balafilcon A lens deposited with protein artificially was measured and the correlation between two evaluation methods was further analyzed. Results: When pancreatin itself and the product containing pancreatin was evaluated by protein digestibility assay, both reached 28 IU/mg, the standard value of protein digestibility suggested by the Korean pharmacopoeia. In case of protease and subtilisin A tested with trichloroacetic acid B solution, both of them met the enzyme activity level proposed by the manufacturers when they were evaluated by protein digestibility assay however, papain and subtilisin A tested with trichloroacetic acid A solution were not reached the enzyme activity level. Among protein removal agents, three products except a product containing pancreatin did not meet the enzyme activity value specified by the manufacturer when they were evaluated by protein digestibility assay. However, actual protein removal efficacy of three products except a papain-containing product on the lens was greater than 90% protein removal. In the case of papain-containing protein removal product, its effect was not measured by protein digestibility assay however, its actual protein removal efficacy on the lens reached 73.72%. Conclusions: From the results, it was confirmed that the efficacy of protein removal agents for contact lens should be evaluated by different method according to the type of proteolytic enzyme contained. That is, the protein removal agents containing pancreatin, protease and subtilisin A can be evaluated by protein digestibility assay and protein removal efficiency evaluation and the products containing papain can be effectively evaluated by only the evaluation method for protein removal efficiency employing the lens.

Study on the Optimization of the Optical Structure of Lenticular-Lens Films for LCD Backlight Applications (LCD 백라이트용 렌티큘라 렌즈필름의 광구조 최적화에 관한 연구)

  • The optical performance of LLF(Lenticular Lens Film)-based backlight was studied by using optical simulation as functions of the aspect ratio and the refractive index of lenticular lenses. In order to perform reliable simulation, the BSDF(bi-directional scattering distribution function) of the scattering dots on the bottom surface of the light guide plate was obtained as a superposition of the Lambertian and the elliptic Gaussian distribution components by comparing the experimental results and the simulation for the luminance distribution on the light guide. Based on this approach, an appropriate BSDF of the scattering dots of the light guide was constructed. The resultant values of the optimized aspect ratio and the refractive were found to be 1.25 and 1.65, respectively. In spite of the hybrid aspects of LLF incorporating both diffusing and collimating functions, the optical performance, in particular the on-axis luminance of LLF-based backlight was inferior by about 20% compared to that of conventional backlights adopting one prism film. However, the combination of two lenticular lens films resulted in comparable luminance gain as well as smooth decrease in the luminance with the viewing angle without exhibiting any side lobes.

저궤도 위성 지상기능시험 결과분석을 통한 별추적기 건정성 확인

  • 위성은 발사 후 임무수행을 위하여 필수적인 자세정보를 획득해야 한다. 별 추적기는 궤도상에서 별의 위치를 파악하여 상대적인 위성의 위치를 확인하는 데에 사용하는 감지기이다. 별 추적기는 태양, 지구, 달 등의 광원으로부터 오는 빛을 차단해 주는 시야각제한기(baffle), 광학계소자(CCD) 및 렌즈, 열제어소자(cooler) 그리고 전원 및 전자박스 등으로 구성된다. 위성은 발사 전 조립시험 기간 동안 전자파, 진동, 열/진공 등의 환경시험 통하여 수차례의 성능 유무를 확인한다. 이 환경시험 전과 후에는 위성의 모든 전장품의 기능시험을 수행하여, 각 전장품의 환경영향 유무를 판별한다. 특히 벌 추적기 관련시험으로, 광학계 성능 검증을 위한 광학적 자극시험과 전자박스의 구동확인을 위한 전자박스 점검시험이 있다. 본 논문에서는 지상에서 수행한 별 추적기의 기능시험 결과를 분석하여 건정성 동향을 분석하였다.

  • 과학기술위성 3호의 주탑재체인 MIRIS (Multi-purpose InfraRed Imaging System) 적외선우주관측카메라의 인증모델이 조립을 마치고 현재 성능시험이 진행 중이다. MIRIS 적외선광학계는 구경 80mm의 광시야(f/2) 굴절식 망원경으로서, 총 5매의 렌즈로 구성되어 있다. 렌즈들은 S-FPL53, S-TIH6, Fused Silica 등의 재료를 사용해 가공되었으며, MIRIS 관측 파장대역($0.9\sim2.0{\mu}m$)에서 투과율이 극대화되도록 반사억제 코팅이 적용되었다. MIRIS 광학계 및 광기계부 설계에 있어서의 주요 고려사항은, 1) 상온에서 조립된 상태에서 발사 시 위성체가 받는 충격과 진동을 견뎌낼 것, 그리고 2) 발사 후 위성 궤도상에서의 복사냉각을 통해 180K로 열수축된 상태에서 최적의 광학성능을 발휘할 것 등이다. 이러한 설계 개념을 바탕으로 MIRIS 광학계를 제작하였으며, 조립된 인증모델은 진동시험 및 열진공시험을 통과하였다. 이 발표에서는 MIRIS 적외선우주관측카메라 광학계의 인증모델 제작 과정과 부품별 시험, 그리고 조립 후 상온 및 저온성능시험 결과에 대하여 논의 한다.

Empirical Fitting Curve for Luminous Transmittance in Tinted Lenses Using Superposition of Exponential Decay Curves (지수감소곡선의 중첩을 이용한 착색렌즈 시감투과율의 실험적 맞춤곡선)

  • Purpose: To find an empirical fitting curve to represent the relationship between the luminous transmittance and tinted time in tinted lenses using exponential decay curves. Methods: Total ninety tinted lenses were prepared with CR-39 lenses and six different colored dyes. Single, double and triple exponential decay curves were used as trial curves in order to find the empirical fitting curve. Result: The results showed that the best empirical fitting curve was triple exponential decay curves. Conclusions: We propose triple exponential decay curves as proper empirical fitting curves to represent the tinted-time dependence of the luminous transmittance in tinted lenses.
