  • There are various ways of the conventional market boost are suggested for an urban renewal recently. Presently, the government has decided to invest total 8 hundred and 10 billion dollars, including a budget of 4 hundred and 60 billion dollars and a capital of the local government, for it for the next 3 years. But, Since Its business has been focused on the redevelopment of the surroundings; remodeling, building parking lots and elevators etc, it has not solved the basic problems of the traditional marketplaces themselves. This research shows the right way to boost the traditional markets with the characteristic of them through case studys from the different cities, revaluation of their images besides the western styled wholesale markets. The survey targets on the traditional marketplaces and the wholesale markets around Tea-Hwa river in Ulsan. And, the different impressions of them are evaluated based on SD(semantic differential method) with citizens' general point of views of them, the sampled pictures and relevant adjectives. The conventional market boost finds the way to be succeeded through the analysis of a primary element base on the survey.

Practical Study on Methods to Revitalize Traditional Market (전통시장 활성화 방법에 관한 실제적 연구)

  • The The purpose of this study is to have a positive impact on the evaluation of the traditional market revitalization project by discussing the business details and implementation process of the commercial district revitalization project in depth. The research method uses practical methods for traditional market revitalization projects. First, the activation method of the place was examined through the concepts of Oldenburg's 'Third Place' and Carr et al.'s 'Five Demands for Public Space' and the theories related to non-face-to-face transactions were examined. The first study case was the commercial district revitalization project of the Cheongju Global Market Development Project(Seongan-gil Street Shopping Mall and Yukgeori traditional Market), which discussed revitalization of open space, revitalization through reproduction, and revitalization through festivals. The revitalization project through representation is a project to install a symbolic sculpture at the estimated location of the 'Namseokgyo' buried in Yukgeori traditional Market. The revitalization through the festival is the Korea Sale Festa, which is a vibrant business due to increased sales at traditional markets and shopping malls and floating population in open spaces. The second study case was the Cultural Tourism Promotion Project(Hanmin traditional Market), which discussed revitalization through the development of local brands and SNS content. In the conclusion, the relationship between the six projects and commercial district revitalization methods was discussed, and policy recommendations were made, mentioning the importance of reflecting regional characteristics in design planning. We hope that this study will be used to positively evaluate the traditional market revitalization project, showing that stakeholders are working hard to produce positive results within institutional limitations.

  • This study aims to assess an effectiveness of the revitalization policy of traditional market which has been put in force since the late 1990's through a case study of Gyeongbuk province in Korea. According to a qualitative assessment of the improvement project of market facilities and the modernization project of marketing technique, each project has little effect. This seems to be caused by the existing revitalization policy without full considerations of reinforcing the spatial competitiveness of traditional markets. This study suggests an alternative of the revitalization policy of traditional markets concentrating on the spatial competitiveness of them.

  • This study is a study on ways to revitalize traditional markets in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, and a total of 188 of the 2021 Cheonan City traditional market and shopping district fact-finding data were used for research and analysis. In order to revitalize the environment improvement of traditional markets, it can be seen that environmental changes suitable for the times are primarily required. The traditional market is an underdeveloped space, and through the parking environment improvement project and facility modernization project (toilet, facility equipment, etc.), space is improved through a specialization and subdivision process to meet the needs of the times, thereby increasing operational convenience, increasing visitor use, and improving natural perception. can promote In addition, the efficiency and effectiveness of the traditional market vitalization project can be increased when differentiated management vitalization contents and facility modernization projects are organically harmonized. This study is meaningful in that it analyzes the environmental improvement of facilities among the traditional market vitalization factors for the vitalization of the traditional market, and proposes a plan that can be a practical alternative to the government support policy for the traditional market.

Influence of Merchandise Composition on the Competitiveness for the Korean Open Air Market (재래시장의 상품구성이 재래시장 활성화에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the strategic implication of the Korean open air market by examining the factors affecting their competitiveness. I have undertaken empirical research that uses the methodology of a mixture regression modeling, as a way to ascertain the determinants of competitiveness for the Korean open air market. I construct a mixture regression model which uses the proportions of merchandise categories as explanatory variables and the number of visitors as a dependent variable. The analysis of results show that competitive and non-competitive markets have different proportions of merchandise categories. The finding shows that stock farm products and home appliances are major influencers on the number of visitors in neighborhood markets. The finding also presents that stock farm products and processed foods are major influencers on the number of visitors in small & medium-sized city markets.

  • This study was tried for revitalization of the traditional markets, at which were located the same business district of grand supermarket of an urban area in Seoul. The Myung-Il Market, one of traditional markets near the Gang-Dong Homeplus was selected for this research. In our research including the survey from the 63 purchasers' samples of Myung-Il traditional Market, the policy to strengthen the traditional market's ability was suggested to use the price and hygiene factors which affecting on the customers' satisfaction significantly. And the other complementary stategic factors, service and geographical area factors, were induced which were significantly relating to the 100 samples of purchasers at Gang-Dong Homeplus as the grand modern market. Therefore this research suggests the maintaining and enhancement strategy related to price and the hygiene factors should be impressed on the preferential basis for revitalization the traditional markets. And the other strategy which including service and geographical area factors as from the grand modern market's survey result will be considerated complementarily.

  • Due to emergence of large discount mart and on-line shopping, and the resulting shrinkage of market share, traditional market that is typically having operational disadvantages is facing a predicament. However, considering the total sales volume and the consumer traffic, it is true that traditional market still plays an important role. In this context, traditional market should be vitalized through an improved management system as well as restructuring, and seek a balanced growth in the distribution industry. In order to provide competitiveness to the local traditional market of Jeung-Pyung Province and to vitalize the local economy, an analysis was preformed for the local market environment, and the vitalization plans, which can be referenced in determining the local economic policies, are suggested in this paper.

  • 이제까지 부활된 정기시장인 원주시 쌍다리 풍물시장의 현황을 관찰, 면담, 설문지를 통하여 많은 문제점과 나름대로의 대안을 살펴보았다. 여러 가지 문제해결의 요소들이 복잡하게 얽혀 있는 쌍다리 풍물시장의 활성화 방안을 살펴보기에 앞서 풍물시장의 이해 관계자들을 살펴보기로 하자. 쌍다리 풍물시장의 이해관계자는 크게 4가지 부류로 나눌 수 있다. 첫째로, 상설상인들을 들 수 있다. 이들은 거리에서 노점상을 했던 도시빈민들이 대부분이며, 설문지에서 나타나듯이 낮은 학력, 소자본 그리고 노령인구층과 여자의 비율이 높다. 이들은 두 가지에 큰 관심을 가지고 있는데, 매장의 소유권과 5일장이다. 매장의 소유권은 이들에게 있어서 큰 희망이며, 5일 장날의 매상은 평소의 $5{\sim}6$배를 웃돌고 있기 때문이다. 또한 풍물시장 번영회라는 그들의 이익을 대변할 수 있는 단체를 구성하고 있으며 이러한 풍물시장 번영회는 상설상인들의 이익을 도모할 수 있는 여러 노력들을 하고 있다. 둘째로는 이동상인들을 들 수 있다. 이들은 장터를 떠돌아 다니며 상행위를 하는 부류로서 상설상인에 비해 상대적으로 고학력과 장년층이 많다. 이들은 5일장의 성쇄와 깊은 관련이 있으나, 5일장이 열리는 상설시장의 발전에는 아무런 흥미가 없다. 즉, 이동상인이 많이 모여드는 곳은 5일장이 크게 번창하지만, 그곳의 장이 패할 기미가 보이면 미련 없이 떠난다. 따라서 보다 많은 이동상인의 유치는 도시 5일장의 성쇄와 깊은 관련이 있다. 셋째로는 시당국을 들 수 있다. 시당국에 의해서 쌍다리 풍물시장은 노점단속에 반발하는 노점상들에 대응하기 위하여 생겨났으며, 5일장 역시 시당국에 의해서 부활된 것이다. 그러나 단기적인 측면만을 고려한 듯한 인상을 풍기는 쌍다리 풍물시장에 대한 행정은 대단히 아쉬운 부분이며 앞으로도 여러 가지 구조적인 문제점의 해결은 시당국에 달려있다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 즉, 풍물시장에 관련된 이해관계자들 중 유일하게 조직과 행정력을 가지고 문제해결을 할 수 있는 주체인 것이다. 넷째로는 풍물시장을 이용하는 소비자를 들 수 있다. 이들은 주로 원주에 살고 있는 사람들이 대다수이며 쌍다리 풍물시장을 이용하는 이유는 저렴한 가격에도 원인이 있지만 민족의 정서가 어려있는 시골장터에 대한 향수 역시 큰 원인으로 꼽을 수 있다. 이러한 점은 소비자 설문에서 구경거리를 위하여 장에 오는 소비자의 비율이 생각 외로 높게 나타남으로써 알 수 있다. 미국을 위시한 선진국들의 시장개방 압력과 우루과이라운드의 등장으로 우리나라는 경제, 사회문화적인 위기에 봉착해 있다. 1960년대 이후 계속되어 온 경제 제일주의 정책으로 우리 민족의 정서와 문화를 보존하는 일에 등한시하여 왔다. 이 때문에 우리 민족 고유의 뿌리를 점차 잃어가고 있다. 이러한 시점에서 도시노점상을 정리하기 위한 목적으로 정부에서 도시 5일장을 개장한 것은 역사의 아이러니라 아니할 수 없다. 이렇게 정부주도로 개장된 5일장이 운영되어 온 지 2년이 되어가고 있다. 개장 초기에는 시에서의 지원도 적극적이고 소비자들의 호응도 좋았으나, 최근에 들어 활성화의 속도가 둔화되면서 도시 5일장의 개념을 재정립할 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 정부의 주도로 시작된 5일장이므로 정부의 적극적인 추진하에 풍물시장 번영회와 활성화 방안을 모색해야 한다. 쌍다리 풍물시장의 5일장을 활성화하기 위하여 도시 5일장의 개념을 ${\ulcorner}$국민들의 생활수준이 향상되고 여가를 즐길 수 있는 여건이 형성되고 있으므로 전통문화(향토문화)를 유지하고 시민들의 정서함양에 기여할 수 있는 여가공간 조성${\lrcorner}$으로 규정해야 한다. 이러한 개념 하에 5일장의 주체를 명확히 하기 위해 시청 지역경제과를 중심으로 지자제의 실시에 발맞춰 지역특색에 맞게 5일장을 활성화하기 위한 전학을 수립해야 한다. 서울대형백화점인 롯데 슈퍼백화점이 송파 큰장터나 그랜드 백화점의 향토물산전의 성공은 도시 5일장의 활성화 가능성을 미루어 짐작할 수 있다.
