To effectively manage research information in the field of national defense, metadata about the information should be managed systematically, and an integrated system to help convergence and management of the information should be implemented based on the metadata. In addition, the system should provide the users with effective integrated search services in a mobile environment, because searching via the use of mobile devices is increasing. The objective of this paper is to suggest a MSISS (Mobile Semantic Integrated Search System), which satisfies the requirements for effective management of the national defense research information. Specifically, we defined national defense research ontologies and national defense research rules after analyzing the Dublin Core metadata and database information of the major military research institutions. We implemented a prototype system for MSISS to demonstrate the use of the ontologies and rules for semantic integrated searching of the military research information. We also presented a triple-based search service to support semantic integrated search in a mobile environment and suggested future mobile semantic integrated search services.

Many biomedical research groups have been trying to share their outputs to increase the efficiency of research. As part of their efforts, a common ontology named Gene Ontology(GO), which comprises controlled vocabulary for the functions of genes, was built. However, data from many research groups are distributed and most systems don't support integrated semantic queries on them. Furthermore, the semantics of the associations between concepts from external classification systems and GO are still not clarified, which makes integrated semantic query infeasible. In this paper we present an ontology matching and integration system, called AutoGOA, which first resolves the semantics of the associations between concepts semi-automatically, and then constructs integrated ontology containing concepts from GO and external classification systems. Also we describe a web-based application, named GOGuide II, which allows the user to browse, query and visualize integrated data.

기존의 웹 서비스는 않은 애플리케이션으로 개발되었고, 다양한 분야에서 잘 활용되어 왔다. 하지만, HTML을 기반 한 기존의 웹은 더 이상의 기능적 성장은 어렵게 되어 기존 웹 서비스의 성장에도 제악을 가져왔다. 이런 문제점을 극복하기 위해 시맨틱 웹이 대두되었다. 시맨틱 웹은 자원의 공유, 통합, 자동생성의 특징을 가진 기존 웹의 확장이다. 최근 기존의 웹 서비스는 시맨틱 웹의 이런 특성들을 받아들이려는 시도가 있었다. DAML-S가 대표적인 예이다. 본 논문은 기존 웹 서비스 검색처럼 일반 사용자도 편리하게 시맨틱 웹 서비스를 검색할 수 있도록 대화형 사용자 질의 인터페이스를 제시한다. 또, 사용자가 선택한 질의가 시맨틱 질의어(ROQL)로 자동 변환할 수 있는 시맨틱 질의어 자동 생성기 모듈을 제시한다.

언제 어디서나 자유롭게 인터넷을 사용할 수 있는 다가오는 유비쿼터스 환경에서 원하는 정보를 빠르고 정확하게 찾고자 하는 사용자들의 요구는 중요한 이슈가 되었다. 대량의 정보에 대한 정확하고 의미있는 검색의 해결책으로 제시된 한 분야가 바로 시맨틱 웹이다. 우리는 본 논문에서 시맨틱 웹의 핵심 기술인 차세대 데이터베이스라 불리는 온톨로지를 통합하고 이를 확장해 나아가는 방법에 대해 제안한다. 본 논문에서 온톨로지 통합에 사용되는 기법은 맵핑을 이용한 온톨로지 병합(merging) 기법이고, 이를 바탕으로 하는 상위 온톨로지 확장은 통합된 온톨로지를 메타레벨과 언어레벨로 나누는 작업을 통해 이루어진다. 제안된 방법은 중복되는 온톨로지들을 최소화하여 재사용성을 높이는데 기여한다. 또한 온톨로지들 사이의 개념들 간의 관계를 효율적으로 만들고, 시맨틱 웹뿐만 아니라 나아가 유비쿼터스 웹 환경에서 사용자들이 원하는 정보의 공유를 용이하게 한다.

한국의 문화유산정보 포탈을 통합하여 시맨틱 웹을 조성하기 위한 기반 구축을 목표로 한다. 세계박물관협의회가 문화유산정보의 시맨틱 활용을 위해 개발한 CIDOC CRM 온톨로지를 적용, 시맨틱 포탈구축에 필요한 사전 조건 및 환경 조사를 내용으로 한다.

웹 서비스는 소프트웨어 컴포넌트의 재사용 및 상호 운용을 지원하여 서비스의 통합을 가능케 하는 기술이다. 웹 서비스를 이용하기 위해서는 웹 서비스 탐색 과정이 필수적이다. 최근에는 웹 서비스의 정확한 탐색을 위해 온톨로지를 이용한 시맨틱 웹 서비스 탐색 방법이 제안된다. 그러나 기존 연구는 온톨로지 해석 시 개념 모델에 따라 발생하는 의미적 차이를 고려하지 않는다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 일관된 온톨로지 해석을 통해 탐색 결과의 정확성을 향상시키는 통합 개념 모델에 기반한 시맨틱 웹 서비스 탐색 방법을 제안한다.

최근 웹 2.0과 시맨틱 웹의 대중화와 더불어 Open API와 링크드 데이터를 이용한 시맨틱 웹 융복합(매쉬업) 서비스가 주목을 받고 있다. 다양한 링크드 데이터와 Open API들을 조합함으로써 새로운 서비스들을 쉽고 빠르게 만드는 것이 가능하기 때문이다. 하지만 사용자가 링크드 데이터와 Open API 서비스를 사용하기 위해서는 서비스 입력 값이나 출력값 등의 해당 정보를 얻어야 하며 이를 위해 링크드 데이터와 Open API를 제공해 주는 사이트를 직접 방문해야만 하는 불편함을 가지게 된다. 본 논문에서는 시맨틱 웹 매쉬업 서비스를 위한 통합 링크드 데이터 및 Open API 관리 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다. 제안한 시스템에서 사용자는 사전 지식 없이 통합 관리 시스템을 통해 원하는 링크드 데이터와 Open API 서비스를 검색하고 실행할 수 있다. 또한 실행된 결과는 XML 형태로 저장되어 추후 매쉬업 시 재사용이 가능하도록 한다.

Continual attempts to accumulate and apply information eventually gave birth to the concept of the "Semantic Web". Thus, the "Semantic Web" can be defined as a product of mankind's desire to standardize information. At the same time, the term provides "a method that standardizes mankind's concept of linguistical expression", and can be noted as an effort to combine such methods into a standard web environment that may materialize to form a catalogue. This study introduced RDF schema, ontology languages for the semantic web, and ontology-based systems. The purpose of the study was to construct a system based on the semantic web environment's ontology by utilizing the ontology schema derived from the facettype Art and Architecture Thesaurus(AAT). The aforementioned ontology schema is based on the Web Ontology Language(OWL), which is being widely considered the standard ontology language for the W3C-centered semantic web environment.

컴퓨터 통신기술이 급격히 발달하고 인터넷이 광범위하게 사용됨에 따라서 웹은 다양하며 무한한 용량의 데이터 원천으로 부각되었다. 그러나 웹의 사용이 지수적으로 증가함에 따라 웹 상에서 원하는 유용한 데이터를 찾고 구성하며 통합하는 일들이 매우 어렵게 되었다. 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위해 1990년 말에 시맨틱 웹 기술이 소개되었다. 시맨틱 웹은 정보를 온톨로지로 구성함으로써 정보의 재사용성을 높여 주고 컴퓨터가 정보를 이해할 수 있도록 하여 이기종 간의 상호운용성을 보장한다. 더 나아가서는 에이전트에서 온톨로지를 판단, 재조합 함으로써 사용자가 원하는 서비스의 자동적인 실행과 추론을 할 수 있는 환경을 제공한다. 이와 같은 기능을 수행하는 시맨틱 웹을 위해 RDF(S), OIL, DAML SHOE와 같은 마크업 언어가 제안되었다. 그러나 이 언어들은 지식표현을 위한 프레임 시스템과 기술 로직 등에 기반을 두고 있기 때문에 몇 가지 문제점을 지니고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 시맨틱 웹을 위한 마크업 언어의 문제점을 알아보고 효과적인 시맨틱 웹의 구현을 위해 필요한 마크업 언어의 요건을 연구ㆍ제안한다.

컴퓨터 통신기술이 급속히 발달하고 인터넷이 광범위하게 사용됨에 따라서 웹은 다양하며 무한한 용량의 데이터 원천으로 부각되었다. 그러나 웹의 사용이 지수적으로 증가함에 따라 웹상에서 사용자가 원하는 정보의 검색, 구성 및 통합하는 작업이 매우 어렵게 되었다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 1990년대 말에 W3C(World Wide Web Consortium)에서는 차세대 웹으로써 시맨틱 웹을 제시하였다. 시맨틱 웹은 웹 데이터에 의미(meaning)을 부여하여 컴퓨터와 같은 기계가 이해할 수 있는 언어로 만들어 정보의 재사용성을 향상시키고, 컴퓨터가 정보를 이해할 수 있도록 하여 이기종 간의 상호운용성을 보장한다. 그러나, 현재 시맨틱 웹에 대한 시스템 아키텍처는 제안되어져 있지 않으며, 시맨틱 웹의 응응 분야 개발에 있어서 개별적인 도메인에 맞는 시스템의 아키텍처만이 제안 및 개발되어져 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 시맨틱 웹의 전체적인 아키텍처에 앞서 시맨틱 웹의 중요 기술인 온톨로지에 대한 시스템 아키덱처를 제안한다. 이는 시맨틱 웹의 개발과 연구에 있어서 청사진을 제공하기 위해 필요하며, 시맨틱 웹의 응용 프로그램 개발에 있어서 효율적이고 유기적인 시스템 개발에 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다.
