Nonlinear System Estimation Using Higher Order Spectra of I.I.D. Signals (I.I.D. 신호의 고차 스펙트럼을 이용한 비선형 시스템 추정)

  • i.i.d 신호의고차 모멘트와 스펙트럼의 성질에 대하여 4차까지 고찰하였으며 이의 결과를 이용하 여 2차 Volterra 급수로 표시되고, i.i.d. 입력 신호를 갖는 시불변 비선형 시스테므이 파라메타들을 추정 하는 알고리즘을 시간 영역과 주파수 영역에서 각각 제안하였다. 비록 2차 Volterra 급수가 i.i.d. 입력 신호에 대하여 orthogonal 모델이 아닐지라도 입력 신호의 각종 시간지연에 대한 모멘트나 역행렬의 계 산등이 요구되지 않으며 선형 전달함수와 2차 전달함수를 추정할 수 있는 알고리즘이 존재하는 것을 보 았다.

Design of Uplink Initial Ranging Algorithm for Large-Cell Coverage Fixed Wireless Communication System (광범위 고정형 무선 통신 시스템을 위한 상향 링크 초기 레인징 기법 설계)

  • In this paper, an enhanced initial ranging algorithm for large-cell coverage fixed wireless communication system is proposed. In typical wireless communication system such as WiBro, because a round-trip delay between a transmitter and a receiver is within one OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) symbol duration, a frequency-domain differential correlation method is generally used. However, the conventional method cannot be applied due to an increase of a maximum time delay in large-cell system. In case of an accumulative differential method, estimation errors can occur because of frequent sign transitions. In this paper, therefore, we propose an algorithm which can estimate a total timing offset in a ranging channel structure for 15 km cell. The proposed method can improve performance by sign comparison based sign error correction rule between the estimated values and using a weighting scheme based on channel correlation, the number of accumulations, and the noise reduction effect in normalization process. Also, it can estimate the integer timing offset of symbol duration by comparing peak-powers after compensating for the fractional timing offset of symbol duration.

New Methods for Estimation of Time Delay and Time-Frequency Delay in Impulsive NOise Environment Using FNOM and MD Criterion (임펄스 잡음 환경 하에서 FNOM와 MD를 이용한 새로운 시지연 및 시간-주파수 지연 복합 추정 방법)

  • In this paper, we proposed new methods for estimation of time delay and time-frequency delay in impulsive noise environment. The proposed methods are developed using the theory of ${\alpha}-stable$ distribution, including the fractional negative order moment(FNOM) and minimum dispersion(MD), which are formulated for the time delay estimation and the fractional negative order ambiguity function and complex minimum dispersion, which are difined for the joint estimation of time delay and frequency delay. Through simulation work, its performance was compared with various other algorithms. As a result, while the conventional approaches based on second-order statistics are only verified in Gaussian noise environent ($S{\alpha}S$ noise with ${\alpha}$=2) and also the recently proposed robust methods by Nikias[7] are verified only in limited impulse noise ($S{\alpha}S$ noise with the range of $1<{\alpha}{\le}2$), the methods proposed are able to estimate the time delay in Gaussian and any impulsive noise environments($S{\alpha}S$ noise with the range of $0<{\alpha}{\le}2$).

  • This study describes the accuracy improvement of the estimated angle using phase averaging in phase-comparison monopulse algorithm. In addition, to compensate the time-delay due to the phase averaging, we propose the time-delay compensation algorithm which uses the derivative of the estimated angle. These derivative is calculated by the curve fitting method. Using the real radar interferometer, we have verified that the phase averaging and time-delay compensation algorithms are effective in real-time signal processing application.

  • 최근 기후변화와 도시화로 인해 국지성 집중호우 및 불투수면적이 증가하고 있는 실정이며, 도시 지역 내의 첨두유량, 도달시간, 지체시간 등과 같은 수문학적 인자가 변화함에 따라 재산피해, 인명피해가 발생하고 있다. 저영향개발(Low Impact Development, LID) 기법은 수리수문학적 및 환경생태학적 문제를 저감하는 방안 중 하나로써 도시지역에서 수환경을 자연상태로 복원하는 대안으로 제시되고 있다. LID 기법 중 하나인 옥상녹화는 도시 내의 불투수면 증가로 인한 초과 지표면유출을 저감시켜 물관리를 하는 기술이다. 본 연구는 경남 양산시 부산대학교 제 2 캠퍼스에 조성된 옥상녹화 장치를 이용하여 정량적으로 유출량을 분석하였다. 비식생구와 식생구를 설치하고 실험의 시나리오는 강우강도를 25, 50, 75, 100 mm/hr로 설정하여 측정된 데이터 값을 바탕으로 SWMM(Storm Water Management Model) 모델링을 수행하였다. 유출량 값은 SWMM 5의 매개변수 추정지원 시스템인 SWMM-SCE를 이용하여 모형을 자동보정하였다. 보정된 모의유량은 실측유량과 0.28~3.81% 만큼의 오차를 보였고 각 시나리오에 따라 검증한 결과 상관계수가 0.82 이상으로서 실측값과 높은 상관성을 나타내었다. 옥상녹화 실험의 경우, 강우강도 75mm/hr일 때 첨두유출저감율과 지연시간은 각각 15.45% 감소, 15초 지연으로 최적의 효율이 나타났으며 강우강도 25mm/hr일 때 첨두유출저감율과 지연시간은 각각 1.36% 감소, 4초 지연으로 최저의 효율이 나타났다. SWMM 모의 결과는 강우강도 75mm/hr일 때 첨두유출저감율과 지연시간은 각각 15.45% 감소, 16초 지연으로 최적의 효율이 나타났으며 강우강도 25mm/hr일 때 첨두유출저감율과 지연시간은 각각 2.73% 감소, 4초 지연으로 최저의 효율이 나타났다.

Compensation of Time Delay Using Predictive Controller (예측제어기를 이용한 시간지연 보상)

  • A predictive controller is designed based upon stochastic methods for compensation time-delay effect on a system which has inherent time-delay caused by the spatial separation between controllers and actuators. The predictive controller estimates current outputs through linear prediction methods and probability functions utilizing previous outputs, and minimizes the malicious phenomena caused by the time-delay in precision control systems. To demonstrate effectiveness of this control methodology, we applied this algorithm for the control of a tele-operated DC servomotor. The experimental results show that this predictive controller is superior to the PID controller in terms of convergence-characteristics, and show that this controller expands the maximum allowable time-delay for a system maintaining the stability. Since the proposed predictor does not require models of plants - it requires only stochastic information for outputs --, it is a general scheme which can be applied for the control of systems which are difficult to model or the compensator of PID control.

  • This paper proposes the Focused beamforming to estimate the location of target residing near to the observation platform in the underwater environment. The Focused beamforming technique provides the location of target by the coherent summation of a series of incident spherical waveforms considering distinct propagation delay times at the sensor array. But due to the movement of the observation platform and the variation of the underwater environment, the shape of the sensor array is no longer to be linear but it becomes distorted as the platform moves. Thus the Focused beamforming should be peformed regarding to the geometric shape variation at each time. To estimate the target location, the artificial image plane comprised of cells is constructed, and the delays are calculated from each cell where the target could be proximity to sensors for the coherent summation. After the coherent combining, the beam pattern can be obtained through the Focused beamforming on the image plane. Futhermore to compensate the variation of the shape of the sensor array, the paper utilizes the Nth-order polynomial approximation to estimate the shape of the sensor array obeying the water pulley modeling. Simulation results show the performance of the Focused beamforming for different frequency bands of the radiated signal.

  • In this paper, a new signal processing technique is proposed for calibrating gain, phase, delay offsets in array antenna based anti-jamming minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) global-positioning-system (GPS) receivers. The proposed technique estimates gain, phase and delay offsets across the antennas, and compensates for the offsets based on the estimates. A pilot signal with good correlation characteristics is used for accurate estimation of the gain, phase and delay offsets. Based on the cross-correlation, the delay offset is first estimated and then gain/phase offsets are estimated. For fine delay offset estimation and compensation, an interpolation technique is used, and specifically, the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) is employed for the interpolation technique to reduce the computational complexity. The proposed technique is verified through computer simulation using MATLAB. According to the simulation results, the proposed technique can reduce the gain, phaes and delay offset to 0.01 dB, 0.05 degree, and 0.5 ns, respectively.

  • In this paper, we propose a beamformer adequate for the nested away that is generally used for multiple frequency band signal processing. The nonisotropic beam pattern of channel in this array causes two problems: the bearing-estimate error of mainlobe and the difference between design and output in sidelobe level. By separating the time delay among channel signals and the time delay among sensor signals in channel, we can remove the effects of the nonisotropic beam pattern of channel in the beamformer output. Through this process, a method to correct simultaneously these problems is proposed.

  • In this paper, Time Delay Control(TDC) for robot manipulators is analyzed and its problems are founded. In order to remedy the problems, the enhanced controller is proposed and analyzed. The effect of friction associated with TDC is reported and its cause is presented. Through the analysis, simulation and experiment, it is shown that the friction effect causes serious degradation in control performance and that it is a result of the error of Time Delay Estimation(TDE) in TDC. In order to remedy the problems, TDC combined with Internal Model Control(IMC) concept is proposed. The proposed compensator is effective enough to handle the bad effect of friction, and is so simple and efficient as to match positive attribute of TDC. The simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of proposed controller against the friction of the robot manipulators.
