사각탱크의 벽면에 설치된 배플 주위 비정상유동의 속도계측에 관한 연구

  • 횡요동을 하는 13.5도의 모서리 경사각을 갖는 사각탱크 내에서 발생하는 유체의 슬로싱에 대해 비정상 현상 규명이 가능한 PIV기법을 적용하여 실험적으로 고찰하였다. 내부 액체의 유통현상을 계측한 결과, 0.6Hz와 l.2Hz의 주기를 갖는 실제 운동 상황을 모사한 운동 중의 속도분포를 계측 할 수 있는 기술을 확보하였으며 바닥중앙에 설치된 배플 주위 유동장을 해석하였다.

On the Prediction of Inner Pressure for the Tank in Rolling Motion (동요하는 탱크의 내부 변동압력 추정에 관한 연구)

  • The inner liquid pressure of an airtight tank in rolling motions is investigated by means of forced oscillation tests, and the simple method to estimate the inner liquid pressure is proposed. A rectangular solid tank, which is fully filled with water, was used in the forced oscillation test of rolling motion. The inner pressure variations in time were measured at several points on the inner walls of tank. Measured pressures are compared with the calculated ones, and estimation methods of the inner liquid pressure of the tank in rolling motion are studied based on the considerations of the origin of pressure.

An Experimental Study on Rectangular Box Sloshing (박스형 모델에 의한 슬로싱 하중에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • This study presents experimental results of sloshing phenomenon done on rectangular box. A simple harmonic excitation was done on the box. Two kinds of filling ratio, 20% and 30% of height, were tested. A total of 15 pressure sensors were installed to monitor the impact pressure. Each test was repeated for 20 times to ensure the repeatability. The high speed camera captured the flaw filed and the corresponding pressure were synchronize with video signal so that the video image can help the interpretation of the impact pressure. The two filling ratio made difference in the flaw characteristic and impact pressure. The use of high speed camera made it possible to understand the bubble generation mechanism. The pressure time histories were presented.

An Experimental Study on the Moonpool Characteristics of a Cleaning Ship for Ocean Environment Purification (해양환경정화용 선박의 중앙개구부 특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Moonpool characteristics of a cleaning skip related with the performance of a skip are experimentally investigated. Resistance performances of the ship and flow patterns in the moonpool are observed, in order to determine the effect of different shaped moonpool. The ways to reduce ship pithing motion caused by force in the moonpool are examined. Experimental results, using a scale model of cleaning ship with moonpool, show that the step arranged in tier under water leads to significant improvements in performance, such us resistance and ship pithing motion. Depending upon the shape of step in the moonpool, the results indicate that the increment of resistance performance may be up to 35%, especially in the case of no step or high step.

  • 방역 차량의 약액탱크, 차량의 연료, 워셔액 등의 탱크 내부에는 잔존량을 측정하기 위해 기둥과 floating box로 이루어진 부력식 수위레벨센서가 사용되고 있으나 액체레벨에 따라 float이 상하로 움직이는 측정원리상 차량 주행 중 정확성이 매우 떨어진다(Park et al. 2016). 방역차량이 주행 중 분사할 때, 슬로싱 현상과 방역소독기의 노즐과 펌프에서 발생하는 진동으로 인해 기존의 부력식 센서를 이용한 약제 살포량 측정방법은 정확성이 매우 떨어지는 경향이 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 방역차량이 주행하면서 분사할 때, 수위레벨 센서를 이용한 약제살포량 측정의 정확성을 개선하는 것으로 디지털 칼만필터, Low pass filter와 댐퍼를 제작하여 이용했다. 본 연구에서는 압력식 레벨센서를 이용해 약액탱크의 높이당 단면적과 수위를 측정하여 약제살포량을 계산했다. Python 2.7을 이용해 디지털 칼만필터와 Low pass filter(LPF)를 구현하였으며 3D프린터를 이용해 댐퍼를 제작했다. 실내에서 슬로싱 현상을 인공적으로 만들어 필터와 댐퍼의 수위 측정 정확성 개선효과를 확인 후 실제 방역차량에 부착하여 비포장도로에서 주행하면서 분사할 때 필터와 댐퍼의 효과를 확인하였다. 댐퍼의 공극률(p)을 바꿔가며 수위 측정 정확성 개선효과를 확인하였다. 실내, 현장 실험 결과, 칼만필터가 LPF보다 개선효과가 더 크지만 데이터 50개 처리에 1.71초의 시간지연이 발생했다. 댐퍼는 수위센서를 고정시키고 유체의 운동을 방해하여 이상치와 큰 오차제거에 효과적이었다. 칼만필터와 댐퍼를 동시에 이용할 경우, 수위 측정정확성 $R^2$는 0.9985, 0.9981로 ${\pm}4.3cm$의 범위내에서 수위를 측정할 수 있었다. 필터의 시간지연과 수위 측정정확성을 고려하여 데이터 기록간격을 3초로 설정하면 ${\pm}3cm$이내에서 약탱크 내 수위를 측정할 수 있었다. 공극률(p)가 0.294, 0.291, 0.17에서 측정정확성 $R^2$는 각각 0.9897, 0.9858, 0.9872 로 p가 0.294에서 개선효과가 가장 좋았으나 개선효과의 차이는 크지 않았다.

Motion and Sloshing Analysis for New Concept of Offshore Storage Unit

  • 본 논문에서는 선체 하부에 moonpool과 bilge step을 장착한 새로운 개념으의 LNG-FPSO를 운동감소와 cargo, operation tank의 슬로싱 현상의 관점에서 기술하였다. LNG-FPSO의 주요제원은$L\times B\times D\times t(design)=270.0\times51.0\times32.32\times13.7(m)$ 이고 적용조건은 total corgo capacity of 161KT at 98% loading condition 이다. LNG-FPSO의 운동감소의 목적으로 2개의 moonpool과 선체하부 bilge 부분에 사각 step을 장착하였다. LNG-FPSO의 운동해석을 위해 단순화된 경계조건을 만족하는 선형화된 3차원 diffraction theory를 사용하였고 LNG-FPSO의 연성된 6-자유도 운동응답을 계산하였다. LNG-FPSO의 정확한 Roll 운동을 추정하기 위해 점성효과는 Himeno(1981)가 제안한 경험식을 사용하였다. Moonpool의 크기에 따른 운동감소의 경향을 파악하기 위해 이론적 계산과 실험적 방법으로 수행하였다. Moonpool 크기와 bilge step의 효과를 최적화하기 위해 총9가지의 case를 설정하였다. 이론 및 실험 결과로부터 본 LNG-FPSO는 moonpool과 bilge step의 장착으로 인한 감쇠력의 증가로 운동성능이 우수하다. 본 LNG-FPSO의 운동 응답중, 특별히 roll 운동이 다른 drillship, shuttle tanker등의 선박과 비교하여 상당히 작았고 이는 moonpool과 blige step의 장착으로 인한 효과로 판단된다. Cargo tank와 operation tank 크기를 검토 하기 위해 불규칙 해상중 sloshing 해석을 chamfer를 갖는 LNG-FPSO의 No.2, No.5 tank 벽면의 압력 분포와 자유표면의 time history에 초점을 맞추어 수행하였다. 최종적으로 tank 크기를 최적화 하였고 최적화된 tank는 선수사파와 횡파상태의 모든 filling에서 공진현상과 충격압력이 발생하지 않음을 확인하였다.

  • As guidelines for exhaust gases of ship are reinforced by the International Maritime Organization, the necessity for LNG fuelled ship is emerging. The relevant research is actively progressing to develop technologies and promote commercialization. When the residual quantity of LNG fuel tank is less than 70% by consuming fuel during operation, sloshing should be considered. We applied the Type C LNG fuel tank because medium sized LNG fuelled ships are difficult to equip with re-liquefaction system. Structural integrity and thermal performance are very important, especially in LNG fuel tanks that apply to LNG fuelled ship. Through this study, we proposed evaluation procedure of thermal performance for the Type C LNG tank, and verified the validity and effectiveness of BOR(Boil-Off Rate) test Procedure by comparing and analyzing changes in temperature, pressure, BOG(Boil-Off Gas).

  • Recent growth in LNG market has led dramatic increase in new buildings of LNG carriers and several large LNG carriers are now being constructed by shipbuilders in Korea. Large size LNG carriers has brought keen concerns on the issue regarding safety of cargo containment systems and sloshing impact load which is the critical source of loads on the membrane type containment systems. Up to the present, the best way to properly assess sloshing impact pressures on surrounding walls is a model testing for wide-ranged excitation conditions. These impact pressures obtained from model tests sometimes need to be interpreted to full-scale values and in the near future this necessity will be strengthened for more rigorous and direct safety assessment of LNG cargo containment system. In this paper, a basic experimental study is carried out with two different sized, 2D identically shaped model tanks excited in simple translational motions. Relationships between pressures of different sized model tanks are investigated Model tanks are filled with fresh water and equipped with same sized pressure sensors.

Compression Dynamic Performance of Glass Bubble/Epoxy Resin Adhesion (글라스버블/에폭시 수지 접착부의 극저온 압축 동적 성능)

  • Sloshing impact loads on liquefied natural gas (LNG) carr iers are the main issue of damage to the insulation system in LNG cargo containment system (LNG CCS). The damage to the insulation system would be fatal in maintaining a temperature-savings environment in LNG CCS. The typical method is to enhance the insulation materials that can maintain a constant cryogenic temperature. Insulation materials consist of polyurethane foam and plywood, an adhesive for bonding these two materials. This study intends to improve the absorption energy of the material when the impact load is applied by creating a glass bubble/epoxy composite resin as part of the insulation. The experimental scenarios consider the effect of temperature ($20^{\circ}C$, $-163^{\circ}C$), glass bubble weight fraction in epoxy resin through free fall experiments. Experiments have shown that if the glass bubble additive reaches 20 wt.%, the cryogenic absorption energy is a maximum performance and that 0 wt.% has a maximum ambient absorption energy. However, the agglomeration has been occurred due to deterioration of the stirring performance if weight fraction was 20 wt.% and the result of 0 wt.% have been revealed that ambient absorption energy is significantly lower.

A study of feasibility of using compressed wood for LNG cargo containment system (압축목재를 사용한 LNG 화물창 단열시스템의 적합성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • When liquefied natural gas (LNG) is stored in a tank, it is necessary to maintain low temperature. It is very important that insulation techniques are applied to the LNG cargo because of this extreme environment. Hence, laminated wood, especially plywood, is widely used as the structural member and insulation material in LNG cargo containment systems (CCS). However, fracture of plywood has been reported recently, owing to sloshing effect. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the strength of the structural member for solving the problem. In this study, compressed wood, which is used as a support in LNG independent type B tanks, was considered as a substitute for plywood. Compression and bending tests were performed on compressed wood under ambient and cryogenic temperatures to estimate the mechanical behaviors and fracture characteristics. In addition, the direction normal to the laminates surface was considered as an experimental variable. Finally, the feasibility of using compressed wood for an LNG CCS was evaluated from the test results.
