Optimized Implementation of Block Cipher PIPO in Parallel-Way on 64-bit ARM Processors (64-bit ARM 프로세서 상에서의 블록암호 PIPO 병렬 최적 구현)

  • The lightweight block cipher PIPO announced at ICISC'20 has been effectively implemented by applying the bit slice technique. In this paper, we propose a parallel optimal implementation of PIPO for ARM processors. The proposed implementation enables parallel encryption of 8-plaintexts and 16-plaintexts. The implementation targets the A10x fusion processor. On the target processor, the existing reference PIPO code has performance of 34.6 cpb and 44.7 cpb in 64/128 and 64/256 standards. Among the proposed methods, the general implementation has a performance of 12.0 cpb and 15.6 cpb in the 8-plaintexts 64/128 and 64/256 standards, and 6.3 cpb and 8.1 cpb in the 16-plaintexts 64/128 and 64/256 standards. Compared to the existing reference code implementation, the 8-plaintexts parallel implementation for each standard has about 65.3%, 66.4%, and the 16-plaintexts parallel implementation, about 81.8%, and 82.1% better performance. The register minimum alignment implementation shows performance of 8.2 cpb and 10.2 cpb in the 8-plaintexts 64/128 and 64/256 specifications, and 3.9 cpb and 4.8 cpb in the 16-plaintexts 64/128 and 64/256 specifications. Compared to the existing reference code implementation, the 8-plaintexts parallel implementation has improved performance by about 76.3% and 77.2%, and the 16-plaintext parallel implementation is about 88.7% and 89.3% higher for each standard.

Effect of Edible Coating on Hygroscopicity and Quality Characteristics of Freeze-Dried Korean Traditional Actinidia (Actinidia arguta) Cultivars Snack (가식성 코팅처리가 토종다래(Actinidia arguta) 동결건조 스낵의 흡습과 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of edible coating on hygroscopicity and quality characteristics of a freeze-dried Actinidia arguta snack. Freeze-dried A. arguta snacks were coated with various edible coating materials such as albumin, dextrin, and whole soy flour. There were no significant effects of coating on major quality properties such as moisture content, water activity, yield, water soluble index, water absorption index, and rehydration properties of all samples. Compared with non-coated samples, edible coated samples effectively inhibited hygroscopicity as a function of hygroscopic time. The samples coated with dextrin showed lower hygroscopicity than the other coated samples. In addition, the effects of edible coating treatment on hardness, total phenolic content, and antioxidant activity measured by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity were investigated. Edible coated samples had higher hardness, total phenolic content, and antioxidant activity than the non-coated samples as a function of hygroscopic time. Among edible coating materials, dextrin was the most effective coating material. Dextrin as an edible coating material for freeze-dried A. arguta snack may help to prevent hygroscopicity and extend market quality and shelf-life during storage.

Functional Properties of Muskmelon Vinegars Manufactured with Traditional Fermentation Methods (전통적인 발효 방법으로 제조된 참외식초의 기능적 특성)

  • This study investigated the physiochemical properties, the anti-oxidant and alcohol metabolism enzyme activities, and the anti-inflammatory effects of three muskmelon vinegars prepared under different fermentation conditions, namely MV-1, MV-2, and MV-3. The total acidity of each vinegar was 4.00%, 4.32%, and 4.35%, respectively. Organic acid analysis showed that malic acid (58.37 mg/ml) was the most prevalent in MV-1 and that acetic acid was most prevalent in both MV-2 (46.95 mg/ml) and MV-3 (66.70 mg/ml). The total phenolic content of the muskmelon vinegars was highest at $129.74{\mu}g$ tannic acid equivalents (TAE)/ml in MV-3. The DPPH radical scavenging activity of the vinegars increased in a dose-dependent manner (p<0.05) and was 89.28% at MV-3 40% concentration. Similarly, SOD activitity increased in a concentration-dependent manner (p<0.05) so that levels for MV-1, MV-2, and MV-3 at 60% concentrations were 40.84%, 52.17% and 72.55%, respectively (p<0.05). Moreover, the ADH and ALDH activities of muskmelon vinegar were seen to increase in a concentration-dependent manner; ADH activity at 60% concentration was highest at 136.58% in MV-1 and ALDH activity at 60% concentration was highest at 100.25% in MV-2. The nitrite scavenging activities of MV-1, MV-2, and MV-3 at pH 1.2 were found to be 81.58%, 94.72%, and 87.75%, respectively. Anti-inflammatory effects were also examined, using LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells, and nitric oxide production was reduced to 25.93%, 10.01%, and 79.75% by addition of MV-1, MV-2, and MV-3 at 1% concentration, respectively (p<0.05). These results suggest that the MV-3 muskmelon vinegar has great potential as an ingredient for high quality functional health beverages.

Truncation Artifact Reduction Using Weighted Normalization Method in Prototype R/F Chest Digital Tomosynthesis (CDT) System (프로토타입 R/F 흉부 디지털 단층영상합성장치 시스템에서 잘림 아티팩트 감소를 위한 가중 정규화 접근법에 대한 연구)

  • Chest digital tomosynthesis has become a practical imaging modality because it can solve the problem of anatomy overlapping in conventional chest radiography. However, because of both limited scan angle and finite-size detector, a portion of chest cannot be represented in some or all of the projection. These bring a discontinuity in intensity across the field of view boundaries in the reconstructed slices, which we refer to as the truncation artifacts. The purpose of this study was to reduce truncation artifacts using a weighted normalization approach and to investigate the performance of this approach for our prototype chest digital tomosynthesis system. The system source-to-image distance was 1100 mm, and the center of rotation of X-ray source was located on 100 mm above the detector surface. After obtaining 41 projection views with ${\pm}20^{\circ}$ degrees, tomosynthesis slices were reconstructed with the filtered back projection algorithm. For quantitative evaluation, peak signal to noise ratio and structure similarity index values were evaluated after reconstructing reference image using simulation, and mean value of specific direction values was evaluated using real data. Simulation results showed that the peak signal to noise ratio and structure similarity index was improved respectively. In the case of the experimental results showed that the effect of artifact in the mean value of specific direction of the reconstructed image was reduced. In conclusion, the weighted normalization method improves the quality of image by reducing truncation artifacts. These results suggested that weighted normalization method could improve the image quality of chest digital tomosynthesis.
