Numerical Analysis on Temperature Characteristics of the Voice-Coil for Woofer Speaker Using Ferrofluid (자성유체를 이용한 우퍼 스피커의 보이스 코일 온도 특성에 관한 수치적 연구)

  • This article is to numerically investigate the temperature and heat transfer characteristics of the voice coil in the woofer speaker using ferrofluid with the input currents. The temperature and heat transfer of the major components of the woofer speakers with and without ferrofluid are calculated and analyzed with the increase of the input currents from 10 W to 50 W at an interval of 10W. As results, the temperature of voice coil is linearly increased with an increase of input currents. The temperature of the woofer speaker with ferrofluid is lower 51.0 % than that of the woofer speaker without ferrofluid at the condition of input current 40W and the required input current of the woofer speaker with ferrofluid is lower 42.5 % than that of the woofer speaker without ferrofluid at the condition of voice coil temperature 490 K. In addition, the heat transfer from voice coil to other components for woofer speaker with ferrofluid is higher 51.7 % than that for woofer speaker without ferrofluid.

Subjective Evaluation of Loudspeaker Layouts for a Large Dome (대공간 스피커 배치 방식의 주관적 평가 연구)

  • The present study tried to provide useful data for the acoustic design of sound amplification system with measuring and analyzing subjective preference and intelligibility by varying the number of speakers and their directivity. The results suggest that the room absorption plays a key role in subjective responses of listeners and the large sound absorption of ceiling contributes to the increase of intelligibility. Also, larger number of speakers with narrow directivity improves perceived intelligibility when speakers were installed at the lower height. However, the highest degree of intelligibility and preference were obtained when speakers were installed close enough to the sound absorptive ceiling. The highest intelligibility and preference were observed when 8 to 10 speakers with the directivity of 60 degree were used.

A Study on the Factors Affecting the Intention to Use Artificial Intelligence Speakers of the People with Physical Disability (지체장애인의 인공지능 스피커 사용 의도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the impact of cognitive and emotional factors on artificial intelligence speakers on the intention of using artificial intelligence speakers. The method for this study was online surveys of people with physical disability. The recognition and necessity of artificial intelligence speakers were also identified, the perceived intimacy, joy, and intention to use them, and a multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to check the influence of each variable on the intention of the disabled to use artificial intelligence speakers. This study have shown that the perceived enjoyment of AI speakers in people with disabilities has shown a significant static effect on their intended use. However, the recognition and necessity of artificial intelligence speakers of the physically handicapped, as well as the perceived intimacy, do not have a statistically significant impact on the intention of using artificial intelligence speakers, according to the analysis. The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to strengthen the elements of enjoyment in order to improve the intention of the disabled to use artificial intelligence speakers, and it is meaningful in that it provides basic data to develop artificial intelligence products and customized services for people with disabilities.

Development of the hybrid-type ultrasound speaker (하이브리드형 초음파 스피커 개발)

  • Directional ultrasonic speakers that are used to hear sound only in a specific area have been continuously researched on various improvements in terms of sound quality and cost compared to general speakers. In this paper, we propose a DSP based hybrid-type ultrasonic speaker that can be heard at the same time as a general speaker in order to compensate for the sound in the low-band range, considering that it is difficult to hear the low-band sound below 500 Hz due to the sensor characteristics of the ultrasonic speaker. In the case of the system that is implemented by simply connecting a general speaker and an ultrasonic speaker, there are issues of high cost and difficulties of control as two amplifiers are used to playback ultrasonic and general sound sources. In addition, sound quality deteriorates due to the difference in playback time between ultrasonic and general sound sources. In order to improve issues of cost, control and sound quality, we developed hybrid-type ultrasonic speaker with a DSP based amplifier that can simultaneously playback by synchronizing the general sound source with the regenerated ultrasonic sound source, in addition to implement the existing CODEC functions such as Dynamic Range Control (DRC) and Equalizer (EQ).

Compensation of low Frequency Resonance in Current Driven Loudspeakers using DSP (DSP를 이용한 전류구동 스피커의 저주파 공진 보상)

  • The impedance of the speaker is likely to be recognized as a fixed value. However, speaker impedance continues to vary with frequency variation, especially larger in resonant frequency region. The sound pressure level of loudspeakers is determined by the current flowing throughout the coil that consists loudspeakers. If loudspeakers are driven by voltage, sound pressure level of the loudspeaker is distorted by the variation of loudspeaker impedance. Current-drive of loudspeakers can solve this problem, but distortion of sound pressure level occurs in low frequencies due to resonance. The distortion can degrade the sound quality of the sound system. So to solve this problem, In this paper, we propose a resonance compensation circuit using DSP. we simulates audio systems using an equivalent model of loudspeakers to verify distortion of sound pressure level due to impedance variation and propose a circuit to compensate it. The proposed circuit is configured using a state variable filter and it can adjust the center frequency and output, so it will be used various sound systems.

  • 다이나믹 스피커의 진동판과 보이스코일을 지지하는 댐퍼는 스피커 진동부에 복원력을 공급하는 탄성체로서만 고려되어 왔다. 즉, 음파발생 장치로서 스피커를 고려할 때, 음파발생부로서 진동판과 부가적 음파발생부로서 에지에 의한 영향만이 고려되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 진동판과 에지를 제거한 후, 댐퍼와 보이스코일 만으로 진동하는 다이나믹 스피커를 제작하여 댐퍼에 의해 발생된 음파의 특성을 측정하였다. 다음으로 댐퍼를 개별적인 음원으로 가정하여 댐퍼에 의해 발생된 음파를 계산하여 측정치와 비교하였다. 결론적으로 댐퍼는 스피커 진동계 복원력을 제공하는 요소로저 만이 아닌 진동판 이외의 부가적인 음원이 됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

Next-generation loudspeaker layout for Ultra High Definition (UHD) Digital TV (초고선명 디지털 TV 를 위한 차세대 라우드스피커 레이아웃)

  • 본 논문에서는 초고선명 디지털 TV 를 위한 차세대 멀티채널 사운드 시스템의 최적의 라우드스피커 레이아웃을 도출하기 위해 다양한 라우드스피커 배치 환경에서 인지 관점의 오디오 음질 주관평가를 실시하였다. NHK 22.2 채널 시스템, ITU-R BS.775-2 표준의 7.1 채널 시스템과, 실감 음향에 가장 중요한 역할을 하는 Top Layer 라우드스피커에 중점을 두고 다양한 신규 레이아웃 구성들을 비교하였으며, 스튜디오에서 믹싱된 컨텐츠와 B-format 레코딩을 멀티채널로 생성한 컨텐츠를 이용하여 주관 평가를 실시하였다. 주관 평가 결과, Top Layer 에 3 개의 라우드스피커를 가지는 10.2 채널 라우드스피커 레이아웃이 평가에서 사용된 전체적인 오디오 음질의 등급에서 NHK 22.2 채널 시스템과 차이를 인지하기 어렵다는 결과를 도출하였다.

Thiele Small Parameters Estimation for Pseudo Loudspeaker within 10 mm Grade Circular-type Microspeaker (10 mm급 원형 마이크로스피커의 가상 스피커 TS 매개변수 규명)

  • It was discussed to identify Thiele Small Parameters for Pseudo loudspeaker within 10mm grade microspeaker attached to closed-box using known dynamic mass of moving parts. Also, enhanced circuit model for vented-box micro speaker system was used to more accurately simulate electrical impedance curves for real vented-box microspeaker system and compared to test results. Consequently, it showed that micro speaker could be modeled by pseudo loudspeaker TS parameters similar to general loudspeaker. Vented-box microspeaker model with pseudo loudspeaker TS parameters was well suited to describe real microspeaker. Also, it was proposed to estimate volume of rear closed-box of microspeaker without design specifications.

  • 본 연구에서는 최적 빔포머 (optimal beamformer)를 이용하여, 높은 지향특성을 갖는 라우드스피커 어레이를 구성하였다. 센서 어레이 시스템에 널리 적용되는 빔포밍 방법은 상반성 (reciprocity)의 원리에 의하여 라우드스피커 시스템에도 적용이 가능하다. 음원의 개수 및 배치 간격과 같은 최적 빔포머의 설계 변수와 지향성과의 관계를 살펴보고, 잡음 증폭을 억제하기 위해 적용되는 안정화 계수 (stability factor)도 유용한 설계 변수로 활용하였다. 또한 라우드스피커 자체가 갖는 지향성과 반사와 산란 등을 고려하여 빔포머를 최적화하는 방법을 제안하였고, 이 방법을 통해 예측치와 실제 시스템과의 차이를 줄였다. 실행 예제로 실제 어레이 시스템을 구성하고, 모의 실험과 실제 측정을 수행하여 성능을 확인하였다.

Interactions between AI Speaker and Children : A Field Study on the Success/Failure Cases by Types of Interactions (인공지능 스피커와 아동들의 상호작용 :유형별 성공/실패 사례 도출을 위한 현장 연구)

  • As the AI speaker market is growing rapidly in recent years, the competition for the preoccupation of children who are the main users and the future prospective customers of the related companies is very intense. However, there is a lack of empirical research on how children interact with AI speakers. Therefore, this research examines the interactions between children and AI speakers, primarily through field studies, to extract what functions they use and what features they have. For this purpose, 799 conversations were collected and analyzed using the log data of the AI speaker recorded in real time. As a result, children were more likely to use children's songs, fairy tales, emotional conversations, and personification compared to adults. In addition, content analysis by specific types resulted in success/failure cases of interaction between children and AI speakers and proposed improvements by failure type. This study is meaningful in that it identifies children's AI speaker preferences, content, and major conversation patterns, and provides guidelines for developing services that meet children's eye level.
