A Survey of the Preference for Korean Kimchi by Spanish Natives (한국전통 김치의 다양화 및 세계화를 위한 스페인인의 기호도 조사연구)

  • This study was conducted to develop methods of promoting traditional Korean Kimchi globally. To accomplish this, 99 Spanish natives were surveyed for their sensory evaluation and awareness of Kimchi. The results revealed that a relatively high number (46.9%) of the respondents had eaten Korean Kimchi. After eating the Kimchi, women tended to provide a slightly higher overall acceptability than men. Furthermore, when the overall sensory evaluation was conducted, the characteristics of Kimchi that were most recognized were its red color, spicy smell and hot taste. In addition, 93.9% of the respondents said that Korean Kimchi was a suitable food based on its spicy flavor>chewing force>appearance>red color>fermented smell. However, 6.1 percent of the subjects responded that they did not find Kimchi appetizing due to its hot taste>fermented smell>chewing force. Interestingly, the hot taste was a common selection for the reason that individuals liked or disliked Kimchi. When ranked among traditional Spanish foods, Kimchi was reportedly similar to cooked cabbage, cooked bell peppers, cooked red peppers and Moheu ppikan, pickles, Spanish lettuce, chiseutora and oil pickled cheese, or to various vegetables pickled in vinegar. Taken together, the results of this study should facilitate the globalization of Kimchi. In addition, the findings of this study provide fundamental data that should assist in the development of a local style of Kimchi for Spain.

  • In this paper, high reliable trench formation technique and a novel fabrication techniques for trench gate MOSFET is proposed which is a key to expend application of power MOSFET in the future. Trench structure has been employed device to improve Ron characteristics by shrinkage cell pitch size in DMOSFET and to isolate power device part from another CMOS device part in some power integrated circuit. A new process method for fabricating very high density trench MOSFETs using mask layers with oxide spacers and self-align technique is realized. This technique reduces the process steps, trench width and source and p=body region with a resulting increase in cell density and current driving capability and decrease in on resistance.

First-and Second-Order Statistics of Washita'92 Soil Moisture Data (Washita '92 토양수분 자료의 1차원 및 2차원 통계특성)

  • In this paper the first- and second order statistics of soil moisture are derived using the Washita '92 data. Also the possible correlations among the soil texture, the brightness temperature, the NDVI and the soil moisture are investigated based in the linear regression study. Only the correlation between the soil moisture and the brightness temperature shows significant values. The soil moisture decay coefficients in time were estimated for each soil type and cross-checked by calculating the last rainfall time before the observation to be about 20days in all different soil types. The second-order statistics of soil moisture based on the correlogram and the spectrum was analyzed to derive the data characteristics and compared with those of the NDVI and the soil texture. This analysis shows that the soil moisture within the highly correlated soil texture field is affected much by the relatively less correlated vegetation field in the Washita area, where the effect of topography is known to be small. The soil moisture media was derived and its parameters were estimated successfully using the first - and sedcond -order statistics.

Thermotropic Liquid Crystalline Behavior of Poly(1-cholesteryloxycarbonyloxy]ethylene] and Poly[1-(cholesteryloxycarbonylheptanoyloxy)ethylene] (폴리[1-(콜레스테릴옥시카보닐옥시)에틸렌]과 폴리[1-(콜레스테릴옥시카보닐헵타노일옥시)에틸렌]의 열방성 액정 거동)

  • Poly[1-(cholesteryloxycarbonyloxy)ethylene](PCOE) and poly[1-(cholesteryloxycarbonylheptanoyloxy)ethylene] (PCOSE) were prepared by reacting poly(vinyl alcohol) with cholesteryl chloroformate or 8-cholesteryloxycarbonylheptanoly] chloride (CH8C), and their thermal and optical properties were investigated. CH8C formed a monotropic cholesteric phase whereas PCOE and PCOSE exihibited enantiotropic cholesteric phases. Like in the case of CH8C, the optical pitch $(\lambda_m)$ of PCOSE decreased with increasing temperature. PCOE, contrast with PCOSE, did not display reflection colors, suggesting that the helical twisting power or the cholesteryl group highly depends on the length or the spacer joining the cholesteryl group to the main chain. The mesophase properties of PCOE and PCOSE were entirely different from those of poly $(cholesteryl-\omega-acryloyloxyalkanoates)$. The results indicate that the mode of chemical linkage of the side chain group with the main chain plays an important role in the formation, stabilization, and temperature dependence of $\lambda_m$ of the cholesteric mesophase.

Residual Metal Evolution with Pattern Density in Cobalt Nickel Composite Silicide Process (코발트 니켈 복합 실리사이드 공정에서 하부 형상에 따른 잔류 금속의 형상 변화)

  • We prepared $0.25\~l.5um$ poly silicon gate array test group with $SiO_2$ spacers in order to employ NiCo composite salicide process from 15nm Ni/15nm Co/poly structure. We investigate the residual metal shape evolution by varying the rapid thermal silicide anneal temperature from $700^{\circ}C\;to\;1100^{\circ}C$. We observed the residual metals agglomerated into maze type and line type on $SiO_2$ field and silicide gate, respectively as temperature increased. We propose that lower silicide temperature would be favorable in newly proposed NiCo salicide in order to lessen the agglomeration causing the leakage and scum formation.

  • The reduction of the energy consumption in papermaking process become more important issue because of the regulation of green house gas (GHG) emission. Since more than half of energy for papermaking process is consumed during drying process, the increase of the drying efficiency would be very important solution for saving energy and reduction of GHG emission. The improvement of drying efficiency could be very difficult for the liner board mill because the liner board are usually made of recycled paper, OCC (old corrugated container). The short fiber and fines originated the OCC lead to compact sheet structure and delay the water flow out during wet pressing process and drying process. The application of lignocellulose spacer could provide more loose wet sheet structure and result in the higher drainage rate and the improved drying efficiency. In this study, the effects of the application of lignocellulose spacer to the liner board mill were evaluated based on the mill trial. In order to overcome the common disadvantage of the spacer, the loss of strength properties, the spacer was pretreated with amphoteric polyelectrolyte during mill trial. The results showed the application of pretreated spacer improved the drying efficiency by reducing steam consumption. And the loss in the strength properties by the spacer could be supplemented by the pretreatment.

  • Zara and Limited Brands in the fashion industry are two leading companies that satisfy the clients' needs and the trend of fashion. The agile organizations which response to the change of business environment or adaptive enterprises which monitor the customer's desires have been studied over the long time in the academic world. Recently these management concepts have been extended to the Real-Time Enterprise. In this paper how to implement the RTE in the fashion industry is suggested. To implement the RTE, the end-to-end process should be continuously operated without delays. Also, the three main attributes of RTE, -visibility, intelligence, and agility-should be achieved. Further more based on the cyclone model and the RTE attributes, important issues to be considered for the successful RTE implementation are discussed.

허리통증유발 탈출 수핵의 대용량제거를 위한 플라즈마발생 전극개발에 관한 연구

  • 최근들어 저온플라즈마를 이용한 생물학적 응용분야가 각광을 받고 있다. 특히 전기전도도를 가진 전해질 내에서 형성된 액상 플라즈마는 열손상없이 암, 세균 및 비정상 장기조직의 제거가 가능하다는 점에서 기존 시술들이 가지는 문제를 해결할 수 있다. 허리통증을 유발하는 탈출 수핵을 대용량으로 제거하기위한 플라즈마발생 전극에 관한 연구가 수행되었다. 수핵 분해량을 늘리기 위해서는 플라즈마를 통하여 다량의 수산화기 라디컬을 형성, 수핵표면에 조사해야 한다. 이를 위하여 6개의 텅스텐 전극표면에서 기포를 발생시켜 플라즈마 발생면적을 넓힐 수 있었다. 텅스텐 전극들은 캡톤코딩과 세라믹 스페이서를 통하여 분리되었고, 전극의 후방에는 SUS 재질의 환형 접지전극을 배치하여 6개의 텅스텐 전극표면에서 모두 기포가 발생할 수 있도록 하였다. 시술적용시 플라즈마 및 전극이 가지는 제한 조건은 단백질 변성을 막기위한 섭씨 45도 이하의 온도 상승과 조직에 대한 기계적인 손상 방지를 위한 2.5 mm 이하의 전체 전극 굵기이다. 이를 만족하는 가운데 수산화기 라디컬 형성을 증대할 수 있는 전극의 구조를 결정하기 위하여 1-D 전기 열유체 모델 도입하였다. 모델에서 도출된 기포의 두께를 바탕으로 다중전극간의 거리 조절을 통하여 플라즈마 방전구조를 전극 - 전극 (기포두께${\times}2$ > 전극간 거리)과 전극 - 기포표면 (기포두께${\times}2$ < 전극간 거리)으로 통제하였다. 형성된 플라즈마의 소모전력, 전자 밀도및 수산화기 라디컬의 회전온도를 분석하기 위하여 0.9% 염화나트륨 수용액, 1.6 S/m, 전해질에서 플라즈마 형성를 형성하고 전기신호 및 광학신호를 관측하였다. 전극에 인가된 전압은 340 VRMS이며 운전주파수는 380 kHz이다. 실험 결과, 전극 - 기포표면 방전구조는 전극 -전극 방전구조에 비하여 전해질의 저항역할로 인하여 방전전류가 3.4 Ipp에서 1.6 Ipp로 감소하였으나, 기포표면에서의 물분자의 분해로 인하여 수산화기 라디컬에서의 발광세기는 약 4배 증가하였다. 또한 수산화기의 회전온도 분포상에서도 전극 - 기포표면 방전은 주변 물분자의 열교환으로 인하여 전극 -전극간 방전의 1500K 에 비하여 낮은 400K를 보였다. 이는 전극-기포표면 방전구조의 전극이 낮은 온도의 수산화기를 다량으로 형성할 수 있음을 시사하며, 카데바를 이용한 실험에서 220초에 걸쳐 약 87%의 수핵을 기계적 손상 및 단백질 변형없이 효과적으로 제거함을 확인하였다.

A Numerical and Experimental Study of Heat Transfer through a Double Pane Window to Enhance Thermal Insulation of Building (건물 에너지 절약을 위한 수치해석적/실험적 이중창 열전달 연구)

  • The performance of heat transfer through double pane window has been investigated using experimental and numerical methods. The range of the gap distance between glasses are 0.5-10 cm. The convection heat transfer plays the dominant role for the case of the wide gap distance together with the large Rayleigh number and thereby, reduces the enhanced thermal resistance due to the increased air gap, while the conduction heat transfer does the major role for the case of small gap distance. In order to enhance the thermal insulation of the double pane window, the heat transfer of triple pane window, which is constructed to put one more glass at the middle of the double pane, is investigated to check the reduction of the convection heat transfer together with the effect of the radiation shield due to the presence of the additional glass. Further, a spacer is installed at the middle height of the double pane, and the effect of which on the suppression of the convective heat transfer is analyzed carefully, using experimental and numerical methods. For the case of the spacer-installation, the amount of energy saving is considered about 10%, but the energy saving increases a lot to 30-50% for the case of triple pane window, due to the substantial radiation shield effect of the presence of the additional glass.

Reduction of Deposits on the Electrode by the Cell Modification in Direct Sea Water Electrolysis System (해수전해장치 전해조 개선에 의한 전극 부착물 저감)

  • In a direct sea water electrolysis system, deposits on the electrode cause decrease in the performance and increase in electrode damage. To reduce the deposition on the electrode, the modified cells were developed, namely: replaced grating type anodes with plate type ones; reduced the number of anodes from 9 to 8; widened the electrode gap from 2.4 mm to 3.0 mm; and reduced the number of spacers. that maintained the electrode gap, from 27 to 10. The developed cells were installed and tested at a power plant. The modified cells reduced deposition by 36~60%. The current efficiency increased by 15~20%. The electricity consumption reduced by 20%. In each case, the comparisons were between the modified cells and standard cells.
