  • This study is about the effect on the user's cognitive stress by font size when they read on PDA(Personal Digital Assistant). The evaluation was done through both subjective evaluation and physiological one, which is brain wave test, while the research and analysis were focused on the relationship between the user's cognitive stress and font size. The two final results were found out as follows. 1) Font sizes, which were tested, were 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 points. Among theses, font size 14 was the least stressful for the users, while the most stressful size was found out 8 points. 2) The cerebral cortex reaction according to the font size activated occipital lobe, parietal lobe of occipital visual area. Here we could come to a very Important conclusion that the smaller font size on mobile information appliances made users the more stressed.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the perception of medical institution certification evaluation, job stress, turnover intention, safety management cognition of a general hospital nurse before and after the medical institution certification system. Data were collected from June 1, 2016 to July 17, 2016. The collected data were analyzed by mean, standard deviation, and paired t-test using SPSS 21.0. The results of this study showed that there was no significant difference between before and after certification of medical institution recognition, turnover intention, and safety management awareness, but mean score was high and job stress showed significant difference before and after certification.(t = 2.825, p = <. 005). That is, the job stress was higher than that after the authentication. Therefore, in order to reduce job stress of nurses preparing for certification, active and diverse human and physical support of medical institutions that can reduce work burden is needed.

  • This study aims to present the effects that a bibliotherapy program based on picture books and paper craft art activities had on middle school students' stress recognition and the changes in their reactions. To this end, we adopted an experimental research design model with pre/post-test measurements of stress recognition and reactions using first grade middle school students with emotional difficulties. The results show that a bibliotherapy program based on picture books and paper craft art activities does have significant effects on the stress recognition and reactions of middle school students. The 5 of 5 sub-domains of the stress recognition had significant difference. The sub-domains are: family environment, friends, study, teacher/school. The 6 of 7 sub-domains of the stress reactions except fatigue had significant difference. The sub-domains are: tention, frustration, anger, depression, somatization, aggression.

  • The present study examined the mediating effects of parent-child stress on the relationship between perceived neighborhood disorder and problem behaviors. The research hypotheses were based on Pearlin's(1999) stress process model and findings from previous literature. The data from the $4^{th}$-wave of the Korea Youth Panel Survey (KYPS; a panel survey of $8^{th}$-grade students) were analyzed to identify the relationships between the study variables. The sample included 2,301 adolescents (16 to 18 years old). Findings showed that parent-child stress partially mediated the relationship between perceived neighborhood disorder and problem behaviors in adolescents. As adolescents perceived more neighborhood disorder, they were more likely to experience anxiety/depression and aggression. In addition, greater neighborhood disorder were found to be associated with the higher levels of the parent-child stress. Furthermore, when controlling for perceived neighborhood disorder, the higher levels of the parent-child stress were found to be associated with the higher levels of anxiety/depression and aggression. The Sobel test and bootstrapping results showed that parent-child stress partially mediates the relationship between perceived neighborhood disorder and anxiety/depression, as well as the relationship between perceived neighborhood disorder and aggression. Based on the results, we discussed social welfare implications of the study findings to prevent adolescent problem behavior as well as the limitations of the study.

  • This study aimed to investigate the relationship between mental health and health risk behaviors of college students and to verify that depression has mediating effects in the relation between perceived stress and health risk behaviors. Data were obtained from the 2015 Community Health Survey conducted nationally, and the subjects of this study were 8,422 college students ranging in age from 19 to 29. Rao-Scott Chi-square test, logistic regression analysis, and Sobel test were used for data analysis. The results of the study showed that perceived stress, depression, present smoking, binge drinking, and high risk drinking of college students were associated with sex, age, and monthly household income. Smoking, binge drinking and high-risk drinking were affected by perceived stress, and depression was an influence factor of current smoking and binge drinking. Depression showed partial mediating effect between perceived stress and current smoking and between perceived stress and binge drinking. Such results suggest that a comprehensive behavioral health intervention strategy that covers mental health care of college students is necessary.

  • Purpose: This study was performed to identify the level of stress perceived by nurses who attend dying patients in the cancer care unit; their understanding regarding end-of-life care and related training needs. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with 151 nurses stationed at the cancer care units of four general hospitals located in Seoul and Gyeonggi province in Korea. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires and the response rate was 96%. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation analysis. SPSS 12.0 was used for data analysis. Results: Nurses experienced a high level of stress in the end-of-life care settings. Their understanding of end-of-life care was above the mid-point of the scale while their training needs for end-of-life care was relatively high. The more experienced the nurses were, the more stressed they were, particularly due to excessive workload. Nurses who served longer in the cancer unit tended to show greater needs for end-of-life care training. Conclusion: This study found nurses perform end-of-life care with a high level of stress but with insufficient understanding, and thus, showed great needs for related training. Such findings can be useful to develop an end-of-life care training program for nurses.
