Study of biochemical factors and stress in Korean Adults (한국인 성인에서 스트레스에 대한 생화학적 요인 분석 연구)

  • Stress is a common risk factor for health and is associated with the endocrine gland and immune system. Studies on the association between stress and biochemical factors have been conducted worldwide, but studies on the association have been rare in South Korea. Therefore, the aims of this study are to analyze the relationship of stress with demographic information and biochemical factors for domestic adults and derive risk factors for stress. For data analysis, stress and normal groups were analyzed using binary logistic regression. In both men and women, age and average daily sleep time during the weekday were highly associated with stress, and the depression score (Patient Health Questionnaire-9) was also highly related with stress. In women, white blood cell levels were highly associated with stress, and in men, red blood cell levels were highly related with stress. These findings will contribute to the prevention of stress and the national health in the future.

  • 소방공무원은 가장 위험한 직업중 하나로 과로사부터 훈련이나 화재진압 현장에서의 사망에 이르기까지 생명의 위험에 노출되어 있다. 이러한 위험성은 소방공무원을 기타 다른 분야의 공무원들과 근본적으로 차이를 가지게 하는 특성으로 작용한다. 소방공무원을 둘러싼 위험을 유발하는 요소들은 치명적 사고로 이어질 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 스트레스를 증가시키고 있다. 위험 유발 요소들은 제도적 요인, 문화적 요인, 그리고 개인적 경험으로 분류될 수 있고 다시 하위 항목으로 나뉠 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 소방공무원과 관련한 위험유발요인들이 스트레스라는 매개변수를 통해 소방공무원들의 조직몰입에 주는 영향을 고찰하였다.

The Change of Traffic Accident Risk Degree by Driving Stress Coping Patterns (운전스트레스 대처방식에 따른 교통사고 위험의 변화)

  • This study was intended to validate and develop the driving stress coping behavior scale. In a preliminary investigation, literature studies on the driving stress and open questionnaire were administered and examined in four regions in Korea. As a result, 64 items driving stress questionnaire were developed. In the study, this Driving Stress Coping Behavior Scale(DS-CBS) was examined to 372 drivers located seven regions in Korea. The factors analysis revealed 2 meaningful factors[(Good Coping: GC), (Bad Coping: BC) with 24 items. When internal consistency for each 2 factor was calculated, all sub-scale revealed a satisfactory level of Cronbach's α. Also, correlations with Driver Coping Questionnaire(DCQ) and risk driving behaviors(speed driving, drunken driving, traffic violation, offence accident, defence accident) supported consistently validity of the Driving Stress Coping Behavior Scale(DS-CBS). Also, We investigated the influences of 'Good Coping', 'Bad Coping' consisting of driving stress coping behavior, on traffic accidents risk. As a result, 'Good Coping' and 'Bad Coping' influenced traffic accidents risk. 'Good Coping' had decreased effects, the other side 'Bad Coping' had increased effects on traffic accidents risk(TARI).

Social Support, Acculturative Stress, and Parenting Stress as Factors Influencing Child Abuse Among Married Immigrant Women in Korea (결혼이주여성의 아동학대 발생위험성에 영향을 미치는 요인 -양육스트레스, 문화적응스트레스, 사회적지지의 구조적 관계-)

  • This study was designed to explore the structural relationship of social support, acculturative stress and parenting stress which influenced child abuse among married immigrant women in Korea. For study 195 married immigrant women participated and structured questionnaire was used. This study identified that the variable of parenting stress directly affected child abuse and the variable of acculturation stress indirectly affected child abuse with a variable of parenting stress as a mediator variable. In addition, the variable of social support indirectly affected parenting stress with a variable of acculturation stress as a mediator variable. Also, the variable of social support did not directly affect child abuse, but it was verified as a protective factor to reduce the risk of child abuse. This study suggested the social interventions to prevent child abuse among multi-cultural families based on the study results.

Health Risk Behavior and Oral Symptoms in Adolescents in Multicultural Families (다문화 가정 청소년의 건강 위험 행동과 구강 증상에 관한 연구)

  • This study used the raw data of the 15th (2019) Korean Youth Health Risk Behavior Survey to investigate the risk factors of the health-risk behaviors of Korean multicultural adolescents on the subjective oral symptoms. The scope of the multicultural family was limited to children of immigrant women's families married to Korean men and immigrant male families married to Korean women, and 572 were selected as the final study subjects. The sociodemographic variables were surveyed as gender, grade, economic level, and school performance. The health risk behaviors included drinking, smoking, medication, stress, sleep satisfaction, suicidal thoughts, depression, and brushing before bedtime. The oral symptoms examined were toothache, gum pain, and halitosis. As a result, toothache was related to drinking, toothbrushing before sleep, stress, sleep satisfaction, suicidal thoughts, and depression. Gum pain was associated with drug use, sleep satisfaction, suicidal thoughts, and depression. Halitosis was associated with medication, brushing before sleep, stress, suicidal thoughts, and depression. In terms of health risk factors, drinking, stress, and sleep satisfaction were risk factors for toothache. Smoking, sleep satisfaction, and suicidal thoughts were risk factors for gum pain. The presence of toothbrushing and stress were risk factors for halitosis. In conclusion, a policy system is needed to support oral health education programs nationally at times, such as after-school activities or club activities, to promote oral health for teenagers.

  • 해상교통관제 업무는 선박사고 발생 위험에 대한 부담감 및 교대근무 등 불규칙한 근무형태로 인해 스트레스가 많은 직종이다. 특히나 관제 업무는 고도의 주의와 예측능력을 요구하는 업무로 이를 저해하는 인적요인 분석 및 관리 필요성이 절실한 분야지만 관제사의 직무스트레스에 관한 연구가 전무한 실정이다. 관제사의 스트레스로 인한 피로증상은 관제업무수행에 필요한 인지능력이나 의사결정 능력을 저하시킬 수 있고 이로 인해 업무수행에 차질을 빚을 경우 안전사고로 이어질 수 있는 위험이 존재한다. 그러므로 안전과 직결된 관제사의 스트레스는 과학적으로 연구되어야 하며 제도적 마련과 더불어 체계적 관리가 필요할 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 한국인 직무스트레스 측정도구를 이용하여 관제사의 직무 스트레스 수준을 파악하고 직무스트레스 관리의 필요성에 대하여 제고해보고자 한다.

Relationship between Stress and Job Satisfaction of Fire-fighters (소방공무원의 스트레스 요인과 직무만족간의 관계)

  • Most of previous studies on civil servants' stress factors and job satisfaction have been focused on low job satisfaction caused by stress from role relations and human relations. In case of fire officers, however, their stress is expected to be influenced by their unique job characteristics such as risk, urgency, stand-by, and shift. Thus, this study divided fire officers'stress factors into job-related factors (risk, urgency, stand-by, alternation) and role-related factors (role conflict, role ambiguity, role overload), and empirically analyzed how these factors affect their job satisfaction. According to the results of this study, fire officers' job characteristics and their roles in the organization had a significant effect on their job satisfaction. Particularly, among the job-related factors, urgency and stand-by had a positive effect on job satisfaction, and among role-related factors, role conflict and role overload had a negative effect on job satisfaction. In addition, fire officers' stress and job satisfaction were significantly different according to their job (fire fighting, rescue and first aid, fire administration, others), and according to their workplace (fire fighting headquarters, fire station, 119 safety center).

  • This study was conducted to investigate the association between breast cancer-related risk factors including socio-demographic characteristics and the lifestyle-related factors and the development of breast cancer. The study was comparative analysis of cancer patients group and control group. 102 breast cancer patients visited in J university hospital and 110 randomly-selected community controls were recruited from October 2011 to June 2012. Eating vegetables, physical activity and stress coping reduce breast cancer risk. Therefore, this study highlights the importance of eating vegetables, physical activity, and stress management in preventing breast cancer.

  • 세계적으로 선박 교통량 증가와 함께 선박 사고 원인의 90% 이상을 차지하는 인적요인에 대한 심층적인 연구의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 해상교통관제 업무는 고도의 주의와 예측능력을 요구하며 이를 저해하는 인적요인 분석 및 관리 필요성이 절실한 분야이다. 특히 관제업무는 교대근무 등의 불규칙한 근무형태로 인해 발생되는 피로와 업무 집중력 저하, 스트레스가 많은 업무이다. 무엇보다 관제 업무는 해상안전에 핵심적인 역할을 하는데, 관제사의 피로와 스트레스로 인한 업무 차질은 자칫 안전사고로까지 이어질 수 있는 위험이 존재한다. 이렇듯 인적요인이 중요한 영역임에도 불구하고 관제사들의 체계적인 스트레스 관리에 대한 방안은 미비한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 직무스트레스 유발요인, 유발결과 및 설문조사를 통하여 관제사들의 직무스트레스 현 실태를 파악하고자 한다. 그리고 연구결과를 바탕으로 관제사의 피로, 스트레스를 관리하기 위한 방안과 더 나아가 효율적인 인적요인 안전관리 방안을 모색하고자 한다.

  • 소방공무원은 한국에서 가장 위험한 직업군중 하나로 분류될 수 있으며, 이들 소방공무원이 현장에서 동료들의 부상이나 사망을 목격하게 되거나, 개인이 견딜 수 없는 조직문화나 불합리한 제도 등 문화적 요인이나 제도적 요인등도 스트레스를 매우 위험한 수준까지 발전시킬 수 있으며, 또한 위험을 유발하는 직간접적인 요인들이 결국 소방공무원의 스트레스를 높이고 조직몰입을 떨어뜨려 조직의 효과성을 저해함으로서 소방공무원의 스트레스는 조직몰입도에 상당한 영향을 미칠 수 있으므로, 보다 효과적으로 소방조직문화를 향상시킬 수 있는 방안에 대해 집중적으로 검토하고 연구하고자 하였다.
