  • This paper is on the high perfonnance propulsion IGBT VVVF inverter adopted new technique for railways. To prove the high performance and stabilit~r of traction, running tests are carried out under the simulated condition alike real field. The tests are perfonned on not only a steady states but also a transient states such a as input voltage variation using inertia load equivalent to 160tons train. The vector control technique is a adopted to improve traction for 4 motors. The low switching synchronous PW1\l method based on a space v voltage vector modulation is pro\XlSed as the optimal method for propulsion system railway. The output voltage l is controlled continuously to six step by prolxlsed ovennodu]ation technique without sudden torque variation.

  • The technique to design high performance small motors has been based on experimental data, which results from lots of cost, experience and time in manufacturing. Recently, as high-performance computer appears, many engineers use numerical methods to design and analyze electric machine. Since, the step motor which has very small air gap(0.02-0.05mm) is different from other electric machine in its structure. The shape of rotor teeth and stator teeth influence seriously on the torque characteristics. And it is operated over magnetic saturation point. Therefore, the design of step motor needs to solve nonlinear problem and to calculate magnetic field precisely. In this paper, we solve nonlinear problem by employing Finite Element Method and obtain torque-displacement characteristics for the design of step motor. We also manufacture VR step motor according to the obtained results, and measure some torque characteristics. Through comparing calculated results with experimental results, it is verified that FEM is very useful to design step motor, and the motor designed by our technique is improved in its step accuracy.

  • The last target of this study is to develop ship's Digital Compass that can be substitute with conventional ship's Magnetic Compass. At first, new Digital Compass system was developed with three-axis high accuracy Flux-gate sensors and small sized step motor. Then after, new deviation correction theory without ship's swinging procedures was proposed to provide automatic deviation analysis, correction and renewal. Throughout the performance evaluation tests on the training ship 'SAE-NU-RI', the effectiveness of developed Digital Compass and proposed deviation correction theory are verified.

  • This paper proposes a simultaneous hardware resource allocation and binding algorithm for VLSI design. The proposed algorithm works on scheduled input graph and simultaneously allocates binds functional units, interconnections and registers by considering interdependency between operations and storage elements in each control step, in order to share registers and interconnections connected to functional units, as much as possible. Also, the register allocation is especially executes the allocation optima us-ing graph coloring techniques. Therefore the overall resource is reduced. This paper shows the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm by comparing experiments to determine number of functional unit in advance or to separate executing allocation and binding of existing system.

  • An international standard for the product model data, STEP, and a standard for the distributed object technology, CORBA, will play a very important role in the future manufacturing environment. These two technologies provide background for the sharing of product data and the integration of applications on the network. This paper describes a prototype CAD/CAE environment that is integrated on the network by STEP and CORBA. Several application servers and client software were developed to verify the proposed concept. The present CAD/CAE environments are composed of several individual software components which are not tightly integrated. They also do not utilize the rapidly expanding network and object technologies for the collaboration in the product design process. In the design process in a large organization, sharing of application resources, design data and analysis data through the network will greatly enhance the productivity. The integration between applications can be supported by two key technologies, CORBA(Common Object Request Broker Architecture) and STEP(Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Bata). The CORBA provides interoperability between applications on different machines in heterogeneous distributed environments and seamlessly interconnects distributed object systems. Moreover, if all the data in the CAD/CAE environment are based on the STEP, then we can exclude all the data conversion problems between the application systems.

  • The maximum feedrate generated from the hardware DDA is closely related to its calculation efficiency. The smaller interpolation span results in the lower calculation efficiency. This paper presents the method to improve the calculation efficiency for the smaller interpolation span. For the linear interpolation the higher calculation efficiency can be achieved by putting biggest value that the interpolation DDA can hold. for the circular interpolation, however, the scheme used for linear interpolation does not work since arbitrary change of value in the interpolation DDA changes the radius of the circle. The bit length of the hardware DDA is adjusted instead of adjusting the value in DDA, which results in the every same effect on calculation efficiency for the circular interpolation. The hardware circuit and supporting software are designed, and tested by two axis step motor driven milling machine. The experimental results show that the proposed method drastically increases the maximum feedrate even for the smaller interpolation span.

  • Least mean square(LMS) algorithm one of the most popular algorithm in adaptive signal processing because of the simplicity and the small computation. But the convergence speed of time domain adaptive algorithm is slow when the spread width of eigen values is wide. Moreover we have to choose the step size well for convergency. in this paper, ie use adaptive algorithm of wavelet transform. And we propose a new wavelet based adaptive algorithm of wavelet transform. And we propose a high speed wavelet based adaptive algorithm with variable step size, which is linear to absolute value of error signal. We applied this algorithm to adaptive noise canceler. Simulation results are presented to compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with the usual algorithms.

  • This study, is aimed to support the valve design engineer by a CAE simulation on the body of a PFA-lined plug valve, and focuses on static stress analysis, location of the weak point on bending and stiffness of the valve body. To determine whether the valve body can resist being transformed by loads, 1 simulated the stress distribution using CAD/CAE softwares. The 'step' file converted by CAD software after solid modeling is imported to the CAE software. Through simulation procedure, it is shown that the designed-solid-model fur a valve body has stiffness on bending and torsion but has weakness for side bending moment. Also, it is expected that the valve design engineer will understand the basic process of CAE and will be able to apply on his task.

  • Hybrid rockets have many advantages over solid and liquid rockets. Hybrid rockets put forth high $I_{sp}$ like liquid rockets in spite of simple structure and low cost. As oxidizer flow rate is increased, thrust of hybrid rocket is increased accordingly. In this study, lab-scale hybrid rocket is designed, fabricated and tested. This system consists of lab-scale hybrid rocket motor, ignition system, flow system and data aquisition system. In order to control oxidizer flow rate, we construct flow rate control system by using needle valve and stepping motor.

  • Wearable devices and IoT are being utilized in various fields, where all systems are developing in the direction of multi-functionality, low power consumption, and high speed. In this paper, we propose a DC -DC Step-down C onverter for IoT smart devices. The proposed DC -DC Step-down converter is composed of a control block of the power supply stage. It also consists of an overheat protection circuit, under-voltage protection circuit, an overvoltage protection circuit, a soft start circuit, a reference voltage circuit, a lamp generator, an error amplifier, and a hysteresis comparator. The proposed DC-DC converter was designed and fabricated using a Magnachip / Hynix 180nm CMOS process, 1-poly 6-metal, the measured results showed a good match with the simulation results.
