A Study on CSS3 Stylesheet Extension and Emulator for Representation of Stereo Web Content in 3DTV (3DTV에서 스테레오 웹 콘텐츠 표현을 위한 CSS3 사양 확장 및 에뮬레이터 연구)

  • In this paper, we represented the HTML5 webpage in 3D space for the 3D stereoscopic display by using CSS3 stylesheet; browser-based declarative contents, and proposed CSS Stereo 3DTV Profile. First, we suggested various webpage separation methods for reconstructing webpages in the 3D space effectively. Next, we suggested 3D view volume setting method by using extended CSS3 modules. And then, pre-processor converts sample contents which is written extended CSS stylesheet into the present CSS stylesheet for displaying in the webkit based browser. For the resulting stereoscopic images, we developed a rendering engine emulator which is implemented in JavaScript for simple display in the web browser, which produced dual images from virtual left and right-eyed cameras. And we have checked the sample contents displayed on the 3DTV.

  • 본 논문은 스테레오 3D 비디오 시청 시 나타날 수 있는 불편감이나 어지러움 증상을 유발하는 요인들을 찾아내어 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 그 방법으로 2가지의 스테레오 3D 콘텐츠를 피험자들이 시청을 하고, 시청하는 동안 불편감이나 어지러움 증상이 나타나면 키를 누르게 하여 측정을 하였다. 콘텐츠에 대해서는 관심영역(ROI, Region of Interest)에 대하여 변위의 크기와 변화정도에 대한 데이터 정보를 도출하였다. 그래서 각 콘텐츠에 대해서 도출한 정보를 가지고 피험자들이 콘텐츠를 시청하면서 느낀 불편감과 어지러움에 대한 원인들을 분석하였다.

Analysis of Stereo 3D Content Factors Causing Viewer's Discomfort (시청자의 불편감을 유발하는 스테레오 3D 영상 콘텐츠 요소 분석)

  • This paper qualitatively analyzes the stereo 3D content factors causing viewer's discomfort. For this, we perform a subjective test that each subject strokes a specific key whenever he or she feels discomfort during watching stereo 3D contents. Also we extract the quantitative values of the factors in the 3D contents to obtain the temporal changes of the factors. Those two sets of data are used to analyze the contents to find the content factors which cause viewer's discomfort. The factors to be considered are the amount and the frequency of the disparity change, story of the contents, situation or environments of a scene, movement and position of the image or camera, color and luminance information as well as disparities themselves. Most researches have dealt with each factor causing viewer's discomfort but this paper focuses on the composite factors rather than each of them. That is, this paper deals with the various strong and weak factors and their composites causing viewer's discomfort in addition to the big disparities which have been mostly so far.

  • 3D 콘텐츠들은 과거 입체영화 '아바타' 이후로 꾸준히 증가하고 있다. 그리고 인터넷 등을 포함한 사이버 공간의 모든 환경이 제공자 위주에서 사용자 중으로 급격하게 변화하고 있는 상황이다. 이에 사용자들은 원하는 높은 현실감을 바탕으로 디지털 콘텐츠의 입체영상 서비스를 제공받기를 원한다. 그렇기에 3D 콘텐츠의 증가에 따른 Stereoscopic 기술의 필요성이 증대 되었다. 따라서 본 논문은 3차원 입체영상 기술의 기저 기술 중에 하나인 Anaglyph 영상을 연구하기로 하였다. 최종적으로 일반 영상 및 입체 사진을 이용한 스테레오 영상 변환 연구를 진행한다. 세부적으로는 입체 사진(Anaglyph)을 이용한 스테레오 영상 분할, 일반 영상을 이용한 스테레오 영상 편집 연구로 나누어 진행 하였다.

2D-3D Conversion Method Based on Scene Space Reconstruction (장면의 공간 재구성 기법을 이용한 2D-3D 변환 방법)

  • Previous 2D-3D conversion methods to generate 3D stereo images from 2D sequence consist of labor-intensive procedures in their production pipelines. This paper presents an efficient 2D-3D conversion system based on scene structure reconstruction from image sequence. The proposed system reconstructs a scene space and produces 3D stereo images with texture re-projection. Experimental results show that the proposed method can generate precise 3D contents based on scene structure information. By using the proposed reconstruction tool, the stereographer can collaborate efficiently with workers in production pipeline for 3D contents production.

Stereo Matching Algorithm Based on Fast Guided Image Filtering for 3-Dimensional Video Service (3차원 비디오 서비스를 위한 고속 유도 영상 필터링 기반 스테레오 매칭 알고리즘)

  • Stereo matching algorithm is an essential part in computer vision and photography. Accuracy and computational complexity are challenges of stereo matching algorithm. Much research has been devoted to stereo matching based on cost volume filtering of matching costs. Local stereo matching based guided image filtering (GIF) has a computational complexity of O(N), but is still not enough to provide real-time 3-dimensional (3-D) video services. The proposed algorithm concentrates reduction of computational complexity using the concept of fast guided image filter, which increase the speed up to $O(N/\small{s}^2)$ with a sub-sampling ratio $\small{s}$. Experimental results indicated that the proposed algorithm achieves effective local stereo matching as well as a fast execution time for 3-D video service.

Real-Time Augmented Reality on 3-D Mobile Display using Stereo Camera Tracking (스테레오 카메라 추적을 이용한 모바일 3차원 디스플레이 상의 실시간 증강현실)

  • This paper presents a framework of real-time augmented reality on 3-D mobile display with stereo camera tracking. In the framework, camera poses are jointly estimated with the geometric relationship between stereoscopic images, which is based on model-based tracking. With the estimated camera poses, the virtual contents are correctly augmented on stereoscopic images through image rectification. For real-time performance, stereo camera tracking and image rectification are efficiently performed using multiple threads. Image rectification and color conversion are accelerated with a GPU processing. The proposed framework is tested and demonstrated on a commercial smartphone, which is equipped with a stereoscopic camera and a parallax barrier 3-D display.

  • Volumetric image system has many applications recently in education, 3D movie, medical images but these applications have several problems that need to be overcome. Volumetric display may process a amount of visual data and design the high efficient vision system for realtime display. In case of stereo system for volumetric display motion vectors, disparity vectors from the stereoscopic sequences and residual images with the reference images has been transmitted, and the stereoscopic sequences have been reconstructed at the receiver for volumetric display. So central issue for the design of efficient volumetric image system lies in selecting an appropriate stereo matching and robust vision system. In this paper, we proposed high efficient vision system, which design vision stage with rotating and moving horizontally, and match the successive stereo image efficiently. In experimental results with volumetric image system, the proposed method represents high efficiency with minimizing error and low computational load for volumetric display.

  • 최근 3DTV 의 급격한 활성화로 스테레오 영상 콘텐츠 제작이 크게 증가하고 있다. 스테레오 영상은 일반 2D 영상과 달리 깊이(depth)가 존재하므로 자막과 같은 그래픽의 삽입에서 그 깊이를 반드시 고려해야 한다. 또한 시각피로를 줄이기 위해 스테레오 촬영 시 영상의 변이맵(disparity map)을 실시간 관찰할 필요성도 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 최신의 그래픽 하드웨어를 이용하여 듀얼스트림 HD 영상을 실시간으로 스테레오 정합하는 방법을 제안한다.

3D Stereoscopic Navigation of Buildings Considering Visual Perception (시각적 인지를 고려한 건축물의 3D 스테레오 내비게이션)

  • As BIM(Building Information Modeling) is widely used in the construction process the need for exploring building models realistically is also growing. In this paper, we present a 3D stereoscopic navigation method for virtual buildings considering virtual perception. We first find out factors that may cause virtual discomfort while navigating stereoscopic building models, and then develop a method for automatically adjusting the range of virtual camera separation. In addition, we measure each user's JND(Just Noticeable Difference) in depth to adjust virtual camera separation and movement. The presented method can be used for various architectural applications by creating user-customized 3D stereoscopic contents.
