A Finite Memory Structure Smoothing Filter and Its Equivalent Relationship with Existing Filters (유한기억구조 스무딩 필터와 기존 필터와의 등가 관계)

  • In this paper, an alternative finite memory structure(FMS) smoothing filter is developed for discrete-time state-space model with a control input. To obtain the FMS smoothing filter, unbiasedness will be required beforehand in addition to a performance criteria of minimum variance. The FMS smoothing filter is obtained by directly solving an optimization problem with the unbiasedness constraint using only finite measurements and inputs on the most recent window. The proposed FMS smoothing filter is shown to have intrinsic good properties such as deadbeat and time-invariance. In addition, the proposed FMS smoothing filter is shown to be equivalent to existing FMS filters according to the delay length between the measurement and the availability of its estimate. Finally, to verify intrinsic robustness of the proposed FMS smoothing filter, computer simulations are performed for a temporary model uncertainty. Simulation results show that the proposed FMS smoothing filter can be better than the standard FMS filter and Kalman filter.

Noise Elimination of Speckle Fringe Phasemap (반점 간섭무늬 위상단면도의 잡음제거)

  • The combination of both phase-shifting convolution and 2-bit quantization smoothing filter was used to reduce speckle noise from saw-tooth speckle fringes phase map, obtained in phase-shifting speckle interferometer. The phase-shifting convolution showed the noise reduction capability of speckle fringe without destroying edge information across 271 jump. Also, it was shown that the 2-bit quantization smoothing filter was superior to average, low-pass filter and median filter in speeding up smoothing process and enhancing SIN ratio. Finally, a path dependent unwrapping algorithm was used to unwrap a noise reduced 271 modulo speckle phasemap. semap.

Estimation of Moving Target Trajectory using Optimal Smoothing Filter based on Beamforming Data (최적 스무딩 필터를 이용한 빔형성 정보 기반 이동 목표물 궤적 추정)

  • This paper presents an application of an optimal smoothing filter for moving target tracking problem based on measured noise source. In order to measure distance and velocity for the moving target, a beamforming method is applied to use the noise source by using microphone array. Also a Kalman filter and an optimal smoothing algorithm are adopted to improve accuracy of trajectory estimation by using a Singer target model. The simulation is conducted with a missile dynamics to verify performance of the optimal smoothing filter, and a model rocket is used for experiment environment to compare the trajectory estimation results between the beamforming, the Kalman filter, and the smoother. The Kalman filter results show better tracking performance than the beamforming technique, and the estimation results of the optimal smoother outperform the Kalman filter in terms of trajectory accuracy in the experiment results.

Context-adaptive Smoothing for Speech Synthesis (음성 합성기를 위한 문맥 적응 스무딩 필터의 구현)

  • One of the problems that should be solved in Text-To-Speech (TTS) is discontinuities at unit-joining points. To cope with this problem, a smoothing method using a low-pass filter is employed in this paper, In the proposed soothing method, a filter coefficient that controls the amount of smoothing is determined according to contort information to be synthesized. This method efficiently reduces both discontinuities at unit-joining points and artifacts caused by undesired smoothing. The amount of smoothing is determined with discontinuities around unit-joins points in the current synthesized speech and discontinuities predicted from context. The discontinuity predictor is implemented by CART that has context feature variables. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, a corpus-based concatenative TTS was used as a baseline system. More than 6075 of listeners realized that the quality of the synthesized speech through the proposed smoothing is superior to that of non-smoothing synthesized speech in both naturalness and intelligibility.

  • AT-DMB의 향상계층은 DQPSK 신호에 BPSK 또는 QPSK 신호를 더하여 변조하는 계층변조 방식을 사용하였기 때문에 수신기에서 채널 왜곡을 보상해야 신호의 복조가 가능하다. 다중 경로가 많은 지역에서는 주파수 선택적 페이딩이 발생하기 때문에 페이딩을 정확하게 추정하지 못하면 AT-DMB 향상계층 수신 성능이 저하되게 된다. 채널왜곡 추정을 위하여 AT-DMB 수신기에서는 채널추정 값을 스무딩하는 대역제한 필터를 사용한다. AT-DMB의 향상 계층 성능은 이 스무딩 필터의 대역폭에 따라 결정이 되며 적절한 필터 대역을 채널의 지연에 따라 설정해야 한다. 특히 SFN 환경에서는 수신 전력이 큰 둘 이상의 서로 다른 지연시간을 가지면서 수신이 되기 때문에 고정 대역폭 스무딩 필터를 사용한 채널왜곡 추정은 성능의 저하를 가져올 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 채널 지연 값을 추정하고 필터의 대역폭을 가변적으로 결정하는 방법에 대하여 설명하고 실험 결과를 보여준다.

A Study on Disparity Correction of Occlusion using Occluding Patterns (가려짐 패턴을 이용한 가려짐 영역의 시차 교정에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose new smoothing filters, i.e., occluding patterns that can accurately correct disparities of occluded areas in the estimated disparity map. An image is composed of several layers and each layer presents similar disparity. Furthermore, the distribution of the estimated disparities has a specific direction around the boundary of the occlusion, and this distribution presents the different direction with respect to the left- and the right-based disparity map. However, typical smoothing filters, such as mean filter and median filter, did not take into account those characteristic. So, they can decrease some error, but they cannot guarantee the accuracy of the corrected disparity. On the contrary, occluding patterns can accurately correct disparities of occluded areas because they consider both the characteristic that occlusion occurs and the characteristic that disparities of the occlusion are ranged, from estimated disparity maps with respect to the left and the right images. We made experiments on occluding patterns with some real stereo image set, and as a result, we can correct disparities of occluded areas more accurately than typical smoothing filters did.

Noise filtering for Depth Images using Shape Smoothing and Z-buffer Rendering (형상 스무딩과 Z-buffer 렌더링을 이용한 깊이 영상의 노이즈 필터링)

  • 본 논문에서는 동적 객체의 3 차원 정보를 표현하는 깊이 영상의 노이즈 필터링 방법을 제안한다. 실제 객체의 동적인 3 차원 정보는 적외선 깊이 센서가 장착된 깊이 비디오 카메라를 이용하여 실시간으로 획득되며, 일련의 깊이 영상, 즉 깊이 비디오(depth video)로 표현될 수 있다. 하지만 측정환경의 조명조건, 객체의 반사속성, 카메라의 시스템 오차 등으로 인해 깊이 영상에는 고주파 성분의 노이즈가 발생하게 된다. 이를 효과적으로 제거하기 위해 깊이 영상기반의 모델링 기법(depth image-based modeling)을 이용한 3 차원 메쉬 모델링을 수행한다. 생성된 3 차원 메쉬 모델은 깊이 영상의 노이즈로 인해 경계 영역과 형상 내부 영역에 심각한 형상 오차를 가진다. 경계 영역의 오차를 제거하기 위해 깊이 영상으로부터 경계 영역을 추출하고, 가까운 순서로 정렬한 후 angular deviation 을 이용하여 불필요하게 중복된 점들을 제거한다. 그리고 나서 2 차원 가우시안 스무딩 기법을 적용하여 부드러운 경계영역을 생성한다. 형상 내부에 대해서는 경계영역에 제약조건을 주고 3 차원 가우시안 스무딩 기법을 적용하여 전체적으로 부드러운 형상을 생성한다. 최종적으로 스무딩된 3 차원 메쉬모델을 렌더링할 때, 깊이 버퍼에 있는 정규화된 깊이 값들을 추출하여 원래 깊이 영상과 동일한 깊이 영역을 가지도록 저장함으로서 전역적으로 연속적이면서 부드러운 깊이 영상을 생성할 수 있다. 제안된 방법에 의해 노이즈가 제거된 깊이 영상을 이용하여 고품질의 영상기반 렌더링이나 깊이 비디오 기반의 햅틱 렌더링에 적용할 수 있다.

  • This paper proposes an observation probability smoothing technique for the robustness of a discrete hidden Markov(DHMM) model based speech recognizer. Also, an appropriate noise robust processing in car environment is suggested from experimental results. The noisy speech is often mislabeled during the vector quantization process. To reduce the effects of such mislabelings, the proposed technique increases the observation probability of similar codewords. For the noise robust processing in car environment, the liftering on the distance measure of feature vectors, the high pass filtering, and the spectral subtraction methods are examined. Recognition experiments on the 14-isolated words consists of the Korean digits and command words were performed. The database was recorded in a stopping car and a running car environments. The recognition rates of the baseline recognizer were 97.4% in a stopping situation and 59.1% in a running situation. Using the proposed observation probability smoothing technique, the liftering, the high pass filtering, and the spectral subtraction the recognition rates were enhanced to 98.3% in a stopping situation and to 88.6% in a running situation.

A Study on the Noise Removal Performance of SAMED Filters (SAMED 필터의 잡음제거 성능에 대한 연구)

  • The SAMED filter is introduced as a wide class of multi-stage filters which encompass linear FIR and nonlinear order statistic filters. The output of SAMED filter is linear combination of sub-median outputs. In this paper, optimal SAMED filter is designed for images corrupted by various noise, and performance is analogized. The experimental result shows that the efficiency of each order of SAMED filters is depends on type of noise. It is shown that low order filters are effective in Gaussian environments but high order filters are effective in impulsive case. This result may be used to follow-up research on successive SAMED filters.

  • Lately, at an epock of full-scale satellite ranching plan of Korea, T.T.C (Tracking, Telemetery & Command) is a indispensable part. In this paper, particular attention is given to orbit determination problem of role of T.T.C. Orbit determination, which is applied to Kalman Filter and Smoothing Filter, use the observation data which is given by satellite tracking radar system, and then the simulation is accomplished. As a result, it shows effectiveness.
