A Development Plan for Co-creation-based Smart City through the Trend Analysis of Internet of Things (사물인터넷 동향분석을 통한 Co-creation기반 스마트시티 구축 방안)

  • Recently many countries around the world are actively promoting smart city projects to address various urban problems such as traffic congestion, housing shortage, and energy scarcity. Due to development of the Internet of Things (IoT), the development of a smart city with sustainability, convenience, and environment-friendliness was enabled through the effective control and reuse of urban resources. The purpose of this study is to analyze the technical trends of IoT and present a development plan for smart city which is one of the applications of the IoT. To this end, the news articles of the Electronic Times between 2013 and 2015were analyzed using the text mining technique and smart city development cases of other countries were investigated. The analysis results revealed the close relationships of big data, cloud, platforms, and sensors with smart city. For the successful development of a smart city, first, all the interested parties in the city must work together to create new values throughout the entire process of value chain. Second, they must utilize big data and disclose public data more actively than they are doing now. This study has made academic contribution in that it has presented a big data analysis method and stimulated follow-up studies. For the practical contribution, the results of this study provided useful data for the policy making of local governments and administrative agencies for smart city development. This study may have limitations in the incorporation of the total trends because only the news articles of the Electronic Times were selected to analyze the technical trends of the IoT.

  • Over the next decade, there are estimated to be 250 billion IoT devices in the future, and a variety of new services and device markets are expected to be created via a new network connection. However, it is difficult to accommodate various sensors and IoT devices, such as product and installation environments, for existing IP/SIP/IMS cameras and video door phone. Additionally, recently, sensors and actuators that can accommodate IoT technology and standards are continually updated. In addition, this paper has developed an SIP/IMS intelligent gateway to flexibly accommodate IoT related equipments and to interface with ZigBee/Z-Wave/NFC endpoints in addition to the gateway basic functions. This intelligent gateway will contribute to the development of the IMS system to replace the VoIP system with the IMS equipment due to the growth of the IMS market.

A Study on the Development and Testing of Ringer Injection IoT System (링거 주입 IoT 시스템 개발 및 시험에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose the design and test measure of Ringer injection IoT system for controling the ringer injection status and notifying the server system of the collected status informations such as the completion of injection, the remaining liquid, the injection status, and the emergency alarming of the urgent patients. We design the circuit diagrams composed of linger injection sensors, switches, status indicators, wireless communication functionalities, and propose the controlling and monitoring algorithms for sensing the linger injection status and notifying the collected status informations to a server system. Furthermore, we derive the testing criteria, such as linger liquid sensing time, sensing distance, operating temperature, input power, power consumption, and wireless communication speed, and analyze the test results.

  • Manufacturing methods have been changed from labor-intensive methods to technological intensive methods centered on manufacturing facilities. As manufacturing facilities replace human labour, the importance of monitoring and managing manufacturing facilities is emphasized. In addition, Big Data technology has recently emerged as an important technology to discover new value from limited data. Therefore, changes in manufacturing industries have increased the need for smart factory that combines IoT, information and communication technologies, sensor data, and big data. In this paper, we present strategies for existing domestic manufacturing factory to becom big data based smart-factory through technologies for distributed storage and processing of manufacturing facility data in MongoDB in real time and visualization using R programming.

  • The tourism industry has a great influence on national economy activation. The development of IT technology has enabled the collection and analysis of personal profile information, location information and activity information based on the characteristics, behavior, purchase propensity and interest of tourists. In order to realize this, the implementation of convergence smart tourism information service platform is completed by developing business model, IoT & Big Data integration management system, big data algorithm development and analysis platform in three stages. The underlying technology of the platform and algorithm needs a process of adopting open source, expanding the service element on the basis of it, and then complementing the problem through the test-bed demonstration test that connects the area. Using this platform, it is possible to develop a smart tourism environment that can provide customized services for each tourist by analyzing various information in an integrated manner. Also, it will be possible to improve the life of tourist destination residents and contribute to regional revitalization and job creation through the creation of smart tourism ecosystem focused on the region.

Implementation of Smart Umbrella Stand Based on IoT (사물인터넷 기반의 스마트 우산꽂이 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose a smart umbrella stand based on the Internet of Things (IoT) that helps people to pack their umbrellas more easily. The proposed smart umbrella stand offers three functions. First, it receives weather information, and a hidden umbrella handle will automatically become visible when it rains, making it easier to grab. Second, the smart umbrella stand is equipped with a heated air system, allowing it to effectively dry umbrellas that have become wet due to rain. This makes it more convenient for users to dry and store their rain-soaked umbrellas. Third, the smart umbrella stand enables users to monitor its current status, track weather conditions, and monitor the water level in the rain gutter through a dedicated application. The proposed smart umbrella stand aims to bring convenience to daily life by making it more convenient to carry an umbrella on rainy days or days with a high probability of rain.

Evaluation Research on Smart Mirror UX for Efficient Communication of the IoT Generation (IoT 시대 효과적인 커뮤니케이션을 위한 스마트미러 UX 평가 연구)

  • IoT utilized network vitalization between objects are being rapidly established within current IT communication environment. Therefore the worth of smart mirrors is rising for it is a tool to allow online network between objects to be possible in human communication environment. For effective IoT generation's communication, this research intends to evaluate the smart mirror's value for practical uses based on the users' experiences. For the UX evaluation according to the locations where it will be used, Peter Morville's Honeycomb model and Jocob Nielsen's usage evaluation principles were referred to analyze effectiveness of 4 factors, utilization convenience, communication effectiveness, mass interest and space adequateness on households, public places and work places. Hence, we have were led to an objective result through statistical analysis method based on survey. As a result, we have confirmed the smart mirror's positive influence on the users' effective communication in all places. Especially in households, utilization convenience and space adequateness appeared to be high that confirmed sufficient users' need for the home-automation services. In public places, the communication effectiveness and space adequateness ranked high to confirm that the smart mirror utilization is adequate to provide location information. Also, in work places, the mass adequateness was high that we were able to confirm that supply of work place-specific service contents would bring meaningful results to the users. The smart mirrors are the adequate method to provide effective communication in IoT generation with high possibilities in further development.

  • 최근 UHDTV 방송의 대두와 함께 방송 부가 서비스에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. ATSC 3.0, HbbTV, IBB 등 각 방송 표준 기구로부터 부가서비스에 대한 표준이 공표되고 있으며, 이 표준들은 공히 Companion Screen에 대한 내용을 포함하고 있다. Companion Screen은 사용자가 TV를 통하여 시청하고 있는 컨텐츠에 대한 부가 정보를 사용자의 스마트폰/태블릿으로 표시할 수 있어 방송 기반의 개인화 서비스 구현방법으로 각광받고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 Companion Screen과 IoT 기기의 연동을 통한 서비스 구성 방법을 제시한다. IoT는 최근 급격한 발전을 거듭하고 있으며 다양한 제품군의 출시도 지속적으로 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 IoT를 Companion Screen과 연계하여 활용함으로써, 방송과 통신을 연계하는 신규 서비스의 구성이 가능할 것으로 예상된다. 본 논문에서 제시하는 서비스 구성 기법은 방송에 내제된 부가 정보 기반의 IoT 제어를 Companion Screen을 통하여 구성할 수 있도록 한다.

  • 증강현실로 날씨, 뉴스 요약 등이 제공되거나 AI 비서 기능을 제공하는 스마트 미러(smart mirror)가 개발되고 있다. 본 작품에서는 IoT 통합제어, 뉴스 요약 및 날씨 정보 제공 등의 서비스를 하나의 웹 플랫폼으로 구축하고 이를 손가락 제스쳐 및 음성 명령으로 제어하는 것을 제안하고 구현하였다. 본 작품에서는 음성 인식을 통해 IoT 서비스를 직관적으로 이용할 수 있게끔 설계하여 사용자의 편의성을 높였으며, 디바이스를 직접 터치하는 방식이 아닌 finger gesture로 제어하는 방식을 채택해, 디바이스 유지 보수 및 위생 문제를 해결하였다. 단순 IoT 통합 제어 기능뿐만 아니라 다양한 컨텐츠 및 기능을 제공함으로써 통합 플랫폼의 기능을 수행할 수 있도록 하였다. 뉴스 홈페이지에서 Crawling한 뉴스를 text rank 알고리즘을 이용. 자동으로 요약하는 기능과, 사용자의 IP를 기반으로 위도와 경도를 추론, 해당 지역의 일기 예보 정보를 표현해 주는 등 단순 IoT 제어 플랫폼이 아닌, 통합 플랫폼의 기능을 다하도록 설계하였다. 이처럼 다양한 정보를 압축해서 사용자가 편하게 볼 수 있도록 제공하며, 직관적인 two track 제어 방식을 채택. 사용 대상의 편의성을 증대시켜 본 프로젝트는 기존 프로젝트보다 사용자에게 더 나은 사용 경험을 제공할 것이다.

  • Internet of Media Things (IoMT)는 Internet of Things (IoT) 기술을 기반으로 미디어 기반 제어를 지원하고자 하는 표준으로 진행되고 있으며, 다양한 미디어 관련 기기를 크게 네 종류의 카테고리로 구분하여 미디어 기반 서비스를 제공하기 위한 인터페이스 표준을 정의하고 있다. 또한 미디어 기반 서비스 제공을 위한 다양한 유즈 케이스를 제공하고 있으며 이는 서비스 구성 및 활용에 대한 레퍼런스로 제공되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 IoMT 기술을 활용하여 정밀 농업 서비스를 제공하는 구성 기술을 제안한다. 정밀 농업 기술은 영상을 포함한 센서 기술들을 사용하여 농업 환경을 분석하고 이를 기반으로 사용자에게 의사결정을 지원하는 도구로 제시되고 있으며, 기존 온도 습도 등 센서 기반의 환경으로부터 영상 정보를 포함한 분석 기술을 활용하는 형상으로 확장되고 있다. 이는 기존의 IoT 기술에 대한 미디어 기술의 접목이 반드시 요구되는 부분으로, 정밀 농업을 위한 분석 기술의 활용에 대한 IoMT 기술의 새로운 사용 시나리오를 제시할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 딸기 작물을 대상으로 스마트팜에서의 영상 정보를 활용한 분석 기법을 제안한다.
