Type Analysis and Countermeasures of Side Effects of using Smart Phone (스마트폰 이용의 부작용 유형 분석 및 대응 방안)

  • The emergence of smart phones has brought about a revolution in introducing a computer into the palm of a hand, and this revolution has lead to a smart society that offers comfort and joy in life; however, some side effects including a smart phone syndrome have been identified on a wider and more varied scale compared with any other IT devices of the past. This paper deduced side effect types and key issues according to type focusing on risk factors in accordance with the purpose of the use of smart phones, and diagnosed social effects based on them. In addition, based on the diagnosed results, the study proposed solutions to minimize side effects in order to produce social understanding and sympathy concerning the desirable utilization of smart phones. The proposed solutions should be able to cope with visible and potential side effects systematically by helping people to utilize smart phones, which are a platform of creativity, cooperation, communications, and entertainments, in a desirable way.

  • 어린이들의 휴대폰 보유율이 2010년 14%에서 2011년에는 29.5%로 2배 넘게 늘어났다. 현재 어린이 6명 중 1명은 스마트폰을 가지고 있다고 한다. 웅크린 채로 스마트폰을 장시간 사용하게 되면 한창 발육중인 아이들에게 정신적으로 또 신체적으로 심각한 부작용이 일어날 수 있다.

  • This study was conducted to examine the relationships among smartphone use, mental health and physical health by focusing smartphone users' attitudes. For this purpose, 129 college students were asked to complete the questionnaires which contained measures of smartphone use, mental health and physical health. The results of data analysis showed that the positive correlations among smartphone use scores, physical and mental symptoms were significant. The importance of adaptive using smartphone for health was emphasized. Finally, limitations and suggestions of this study were discussed.

  • As smart phone became popular, a word smart phone syndrome is also commonly used among us. Its excessive uses cause adverse effects on daily lives such as mental and physical health education and individual relationships. This paper targeted to undergraduate students who are mostly using smart phones to analyze on their perception of smart phone syndrome and a reality of typical syndrome such as digital forgetfulness, smart phone addiction and dependence on Kakaotalk. It also suggested basic countermeasures for preventing smart phone syndrome. The perception on smart phone syndrome of undergraduate students using over the average 5 hours a day was resulted to be very low, and it is analyzed smart phone syndrome including digital forgetfulness, smart phone addiction and dependence on Kakaotalk is quite serious, so that proper countermeasures and the actions are required.

  • The spread of smartphone in Korea causes several side effects and raises concerns. Especially, recently the addiction to smartphone of elementary school children has been paid attention to by their parents, teachers, and so on. After literature review, this research presented hypotheses that depression would affect children's addiction to smartphone positively and school life satisfaction (SLS) negatively, in turn their addiction to smartphone would affect SLS negatively. We employed Partial Least Square (PLS) path modeling to test the hypotheses. We found that all hypotheses were supported. The findings of this study suggest that their families and school authorities should make valid measures to lessen children's depression for preventing addicting to smartphone and, in turn, increasing SLS.

The Influence of Smartphone Use on Marine Traffic Safety (스마트폰 사용이 선박통항안전에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Lately, Internet-based vessels have begun to appear at sea with the development of ICT. Thereby crews have gained easy Internet access through increased smartphone portability. However, the side effects of smartphone use while on watch, have not been studied seriously despite being a reality. In this study, simulation experiments were carried out using a Ship Handling Simulator in order to distinguish the risks of using a smartphone while on watch. Proximity Evaluation, Control Evaluation, Subjective Evaluation and Situation Awareness to the dangerous situation were used to quantify risk during simulation, and analysis results were compared with cases when using and not using a smartphone. It was found that the degree of risk increased between 1.3 to 3 times given smartphone use. Consequently, this paper represents foundation for the restriction of smartphone use and proposes smartphone usage guideline for ship navigation.

  • Information subject in the revision educational curriculum actually devoted a good deal of space to increase problem-solving ability through programming learning. However, it is not easy for learners to be immersed in the programming teaching by using only computers, which leads to the heavy logical burden in learning. Therefore, many studies are being carried out on the programming teaching by using robots. Moreover, smartphones have been rapidly widespread in the past few years; as a result, the present immersion situation in smartphones and the side effect problems are on the rise. This study tried to develop a programming teaching model to have a significant synergy effect in programming teaching by using robots with the immersion effect in smartphones. This paper attempts to improve programming teaching effectively by introducing the special feature of smartphones: the immersion greatly needed to programming teaching.

Relation between Motivations of Using Smartphone and Its Overuse in Health College Students (보건계열 대학생의 스마트폰 이용 동기와 과다사용 간의 관계)

  • This study was to examine the influential factors of smartphone overuse in health college students. The subjects of this study were randomly selected from the departments of Emergency Medical Technology, Physical Therapy and Health Administration at G College in G metropolitan city and 250 subjects were sampled. After explaining the purposes of the research from Oct. 22 to 25, 2012 and obtaining their consent to take part in the research, structured self-administered questionnaire was given and examined. Final 223 data were collected and used for analysis with SPSS 12.0 for Window. To sum up the results of the research, it was confirmed that the motives of using smartphone were highest in entertainment and leisure on withdrawal of overuse sub-factors, ostentation and trend on tolerance, entertainment and leisure on compulsion and obsession, ostentation and trend on life inconvenience and side-effects, and entertainment and leisure throughout its overuse motives. Therefore, development and application of preventive education programs on overuse smartphone use with health college students are urgently required and practical personal counseling and management for overuse smartphone users should be conducted.

  • 인공지능과 로봇을 중심으로 하는 4차 산업혁명은 더 이상 미래의 일이 아닌 현실로 받아들여지고 있다. 영국, 미국, 일본 등의 주요 선진국을 중심으로 4차 산업혁명을 선도할 수 있는 소프트웨어 전문가 양성에 국가적 사활을 걸고 교육과정을 개편하여 운영 중에 있고, 우리나라도 2018년, 올해부터 소프트웨어 교육 중심의 '정보'교과를 중학교에서 34시간 이상 필수로 이수하도록 하였다. 본 논문에서는 교구 중심의 사교육 기반으로 이루어지고 있는 국내의 유아대상 소프트웨어 교육을 진단하기 위해 국내외 유아 소프트웨어 교육의 현황을 분석하고, 향후의 접근 방향에 대해 제안하였다. 유아대상 소프트웨어 교육은 소프트웨어 교육 전문가 뿐만 아니라 유아교육 전문가, 교육학 및 교육공학 전문가 등 관련 전문가들의 종합적으로 논의하여 프로그램을 개발하여야만 인터넷, 스마트폰, 게임 과의존 등 부작용을 최소화할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 스마트폰의 등장과 함께 한국의 모바일 게임 시장은 급속도로 성장하기 시작했다. 그러나 이러한 성장은 애플리케이션의 표절, 독창성 부족, 미완성 등의 부작용을 가져왔다. 본 논문에서는 모바일 게임의 특성과 모바일 게임 시장의 현황을 알아보고, 현 시장에서 경쟁력을 가질 수 있는 기술로써 실시간으로 상대방의 게임판을 확인하여 상대와 동시에 할 수 있는 기술을 제시하고 실제로 PC 버전으로 모바일 게임을 응용하여 구현하여 보았다.
