Expansion of Operating Range and Reduction of Engine out Emission in Low Temperature Diesel Combustion with Boosting (과급을 이용한 저온 디젤 연소의 운전영역 확장 및 배기 배출물 저감)

  • Supercharging system was adopted to investigate the influence of boost pressure on operating range and exhaust emissions by using a supercharger at low temperature diesel combustion (LTC) condition in a 5-cylinder 2.7 L direct injection diesel engine. The experimental parameters such as injection quantity, injection timing, injection pressure and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) rate were varied to find maximum operating range in LTC condition. As a result of adopting increased boost pressure in LTC, wider operating range was achieved compared with naturally aspirated condition due to increased mixing intensity. Increased boost pressure resulted in lower hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions due to increased swirl rate and mixing intensity, which induced complete combustion. Moreover, increased boost pressure in LTC resulted in much lower soot emissions compared with high speed direct injection (HSDI) condition.

A study on the pintle-tip shapes effect of nozzle flow using cold-flow test (핀틀 형상이 노즐 유동에 미치는 영향에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • The objective of this work was to investigate the pintle-tip shape effect on nozzle flow and thrust by cold flow test. When nozzle throat area was decreased by pintle movement, chamber pressure was increased monotonously but thrust was increased differently according to every pintle-tip shape. At the same chamber pressure and nozzle throat area, thrust of convex pintle-tip shape was mostly larger than that of concave one. Nozzle wall pressure distribution and magnitude of pintle-tip load depended on the pintle-tip shape, pintle position and nozzle throat area.

  • SWAT 모형에서는 중간유출, 침루, 토양 증발, 식물에 의한 증산 등의 수문과정을 모사하기 위해서 토양 수대를 토양의 물리적 특성에 따라 몇 개의 층으로 구분하고, 각 층별로 순차적으로 각 성분량을 계산한다. 이 때 지표유출로 인한 영양물질 이송이 기작되는 영역을 설정하기 위해서 사용자가 입력한 첫 번째 토양층을 강제적으로 둘로 구분하여 상부 10mm의 새로운 토양층이 자동 생성되도록 알고리즘화되어 있다. 그러나, 동일한 토양 특성을 가진 층을 임의적으로 둘로 구분하는 것은 토양 물리적 관점에서 보면 적절하지 않으며, 또한 생성된 매우 얇은 상부 10 mm 토양층으로 인해서 포장용수량을 초과하는 과잉수가 커서 경사가 급한 유역이나 토양층의 투수성이 매우 큰 지역에 모형을 적용할 경우에는 중간유출량이 비현실적으로 크게 계산되는 문제를 수반한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 중간유출이 크게 계산되는 문제점을 해결하고 토양층내의 수분 거동을 보다 현실적으로 모사하기 위해서 합체-분리 (combining-partitioning) 방식의 토양층 구조화 기법을 고안하고 SWAT의 지표하 유출 계산 모듈에 새롭게 추가하였다. 모형 개선이 수문 및 수질 성분 모의에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위해서 충주댐 상류유역을 대상으로 모델링을 수행하고 상대비교를 한 결과, 토양수분, 중간 및 지하수유출, 인 순환에 미치는 영향이 가장 큰 것으로 분석되었다.

The Effect of the Distance Between $CO_2$ Agent Nozzle and Wall ($CO_2$소화제 노즐과 벽간 거리의 영향)

  • We have conducted a numerical simulation under three-dimensional unsteady conditions in order to analyze the effect of flow and CO₂ mass transfer according to the distance between the CO₂ nozzle of CO₂ fire fighting system and the rear wall in a protection space. Flow fields and CO₂ concentration fields were measured. The different recirculation flow form and wall jet was developed according to increasing the distance between CO₂ nozzles and rear wall. In all the case, CO₂ mass transfer was generated toward the center of a protection space from each walls, but the CO₂ mass fraction of front and rear areas based on CO₂ nozzles showed higher or lower by increasing the distance between CO₂ nozzle and rear wall.

  • During the past five decades or so, the characteristics of turbulent swirling flow have been studied extensively because of its great technological and scientific importance. It is well known that the swirling flow improves heat transfer in duct flow. The reason for this is due to the effect of streamline curvature associated with the tangential velocity component. Although many studies have been carried out to investigate the characteristics of the swirling flow in a circular tube. The experimental methods for measuring the velocity components are by hot-wire or LDV (Laser-Doppler-Velocimetry) measuring single point velocity so far. The present study was aimed to analyse the flow characteristics of swirling flow such as time-mean velocity vector, local velocity turbulence intensity and turbulence kinetic energy by using PIV(Particle-Image Velocimetry). The experiment was carried out for four Reynold numbers $1.0\times10^{4}$, $1.5\times10^{4}$, $2.0\times10^{4}$ and $2.5\times10^{4}$ of the measuring area.

  • Turbulent flow characteristics and heat transfer in a three-dimensional room with a desk-type heat generating obstacle have been investigated numerically by the k-$\varepsilon$ two equation turbulence model. The room mole has one supply opening on the ceiling and two exhaust openings on the side walls. Th results of the flow structure and heat transfer have been represented for air for the inlet velocities in the range 0.1-10.0m/s. As the results of the three dimensional simulations, the relationships between mean Nusselt number and Reynolds number are clarified.

  • 본 논문에서는 열분해 및 촉매반응의 의한 Hydrazine의 Ammonia 전환율을 연구하였다. 원자력발전소 2차 계통은 물/증기 순환계통으로 기기 및 배관의 부식을 억제하고, 증기발생기(Steam Generator, SG)의 부식생성물 유입을 최소하기 위해 전휘발성처리법(All Volatile Treatment, AVT)을 적용하여 계통수의 pH를 약염기성으로 유지하고 있다. 또한 Hydrazine을 이용하여 계통수의 용존산소제거 및 환원성 분위기를 유지하고 있다. 현재 사용되는 AVT는 대부분 단일 아민(Ammine)으로 계통 전 영역에서 pHt를 약염기성으로 유지하기 어렵다. 따라서 복합 아민을 이용하여 단일 아민의 상호단점을 보완한 수처리법을 적용해야한다. 하지만 복합 아민을 적용할 경우 추가 아민 주입설비, 설치부지, 시설유지보수 및 관리가 요구되므로 기존 주입약품을 이용하여 아민을 공급할 수 있는 연구가 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Hydrazine의 열분해 및 촉매반응을 이용한 Ammonia 전환율을 조사하였다.

  • The electrochemical impedance spectra of polyaniline film coated on tungsten electrodes by cyclic voltammetry have been measured in 0.1 M aqueous sulfuric acid solution. An electrochemical cell composed of large redox capacitance and low resistance of PANI-film in series was in agreement with the conductive behavior reported at these potentials. When the PANI was coated on bare tungsten, the electrolytic resistance was only observed. However, on the oxidized tungsten instead of bare tungsten, the resistance of tungsten oxide and the contact resistance between PANI and tungsten oxide were additionally observed. Equivalent electrical circuits have been deduced from the impedance data. It was therfore possible to obtain the parameters of the ionic mass transport within the film.

  • This paper describes numerical efforts to investigate combustion characteristics of HyShot scramjet engine. The corresponding altitude, angle of attack, and equivalence ratio are 28 km, $0^{\circ}$, and 0.426 respectively. $H_2$ and OH mass fraction show that the upstream recirculation zone of injector has flame-holding effects and main combustion begins at 15 cm downstream from cowl. Two-dimensional simulation reasonably predicts combustor inner pressure and also reveals periodic combustion characteristics of HyShot scramjet engine.

Temporal Filter for Image Data Compression (영상 데이터 압축을 위한 Temporal Filter의 구성)

  • Unlike a noise removal recursive temporal filter, this paper presents a temporal filter which improves visual quality and data compression efficiency. In general, for the temporal band-limitation, temporal aliasing should be considered. Since most of a video signal has temporally aliased components, it is desirable to consider them. From a signal processing point of view, it is impossible to realize the filtering not afeced by the aliasings. However, in this paper, efficient filtering with de-aliasing characteristics is proposed. Considering the location of a video signal, temporal filtering can be accomplished by the spatial filtering along the motion vector trajectory (Motion Adaptive Spatial Filter). This filtered result dose not include the aliasings. Besides the efficient band-limitation, temporal noise is also reduced. For the evaluation of the MASF, its realization and filtering characteristics will be discussed in ditail.
