  • Timestamp-Ordering Prltocol among trancaction scheduling alforithms can cause the priority teversion that a transaction with higher priority is processed after the teansaction the trancaction withe lower priority by assigning timestamp to transactions entering system and scheduling them based on the timestamp. To prevent this reversion,we suggest a data priority-based timestamp ordering prioity within the same timestamp group after grouping teansactions into constant time interval based on entering points. To evaluate the performance of this protocol,we compared the performance of this protocol with that of others after constructing the simulation environment with real time database system. We verified that the performance of proposed protocol is supweior to that of timestamp ordering protocol under the comdition of high load and high data conflicts.

  • This study explores the basis for determining priority among the four arithmetical operations in order to provide useful pedagogical content knowledge for teaching the order of operations. The study also discusses the perspective for viewing the order of operations. It presents the following five suggestions based on the results of the discussion. First, teachers should be made to realize that the same result can be obtained on calculation even when subtraction and division are performed first in mixed operations of addition and subtraction and mixed operations of multiplication and division. Second, teachers should understand why the rule of calculating sequentially from the left side of an equation has become customary. Third, teachers should be offered an explanation for the driver of the rule setting that multiplication takes precedence over addition in mixed operations of multiplication and addition. Fourth, the significance of the quantity within parenthesis must be emphasized to teachers. Fifth, teachers must gain an in-depth understanding about the order of operations by getting a description of all the customary and conceptual perspectives on the order of operations when describing the same in the teacher's guide.

  • The preferences of customers change over time. However, existing collaborative filtering (CF) systems are static, since they only incorporate information regarding whether a customer buys a product during a certain period and do not make use of the purchase sequences of customers. Therefore, the quality of the recommendations of the typical CF could be improved through the use of information on such sequences. In this study, we propose a new methodology for enhancing the quality of CF recommendation that uses customer purchase sequences. The proposed methodology is applied to a large department store in Korea and compared to existing CF techniques. Various experiments using real-world data demonstrate that the proposed methodology provides higher quality recommendations than do typical CF techniques with better performance.

  • This paper presents a process routing (PR) algorithm with multiple objectives. PR determines the optimum sequence of operations for transforming a raw material into a completed part within the available machining resources. In any computer aided process planning (CAPP) system, selection of the machining operation sequence is one of the most critical activities for manufacturing a part and for the technical specification in the part drawing. Here, the goal could be to generate the sequence that optimizes production time, production cost, machine utilization or with multiple these criteria. The Pareto Stratum Niche Cubicle (PS NC) GA has been adopted to find the optimum sequence of operations that optimize two conflicting criteria; production cost and production quality. The numerical analysis shows that the proposed PS NC GA is both effective and efficient to the PR problem.

  • Objective : The purpose of this technical research is to determine decline of episodic memory by normal aging focucing on object, spatial location, and temporal order memory. Methods : We allocated seventy-seven of healthy adults from twenty to eighty years old, and performed computer-based cognitive tasks which were consisted of the object, spatial location, and temporal order memory. We used OpenSesame(OpenSesame Inc, OR), put ten pictures people normally see in their daily life, and evaluated those aspects through asking the objects types, object spatial locations, and picture temporal orders from 10 sheets of the picture. Results : Object and spatial location memory were not affected by normal aging whereas, temporal order memory significantly decreased with normal aging. Specifically, temporal order memory for in their age of forty was significantly decreased compared with their age of twenty and object memory at their age of eighty was relatively high compared to spatial location and temporal order memory. We found out that temporal order memory worse fastest and object memory lasted longest. Conclusion : In this study, we confirmed characteristics of declines of episodic memory consisting of object, spatial location, and temporal order memory. Notably, we could specifically identify declines of spatial location and temporal order memory with normal aging previous studies investigated on a limited basis using conventional neuropsychological assessments. These findings would be helpful to screen impairment in episodic memory by normal aging and provide an evidence that cognitive intervention for healthy older adults needs to include spatial and temporal aspect of memory.

  • When video service is performed in simulation using NS-2(Network Simulation-2), the video replay is performed as the received frame order. In the existing video replay method based on the received frame order, as the frame orders of receiver and transmitter are different, the receiver buffer does not have the effect that the packets between the frames of transmitter buffer holds a regular size and packet dense and sparsity phenomenon in the receiver buffer is made by the irregular packet size due to the unpredictable reversed order of received partial frames. The above dense and sparsity phenomenon increases the probability of buffer overflow and underflow generation. To prevent these problems, the proposed frame receive order relocation method adds an extra replay buffer which rearranges the order of receive frame as the order of transmit frame, so it has the effect that the packets between the transmit frames keeps a regular size. Through the simulation using NS-2 and JSVM(Joint Scalable Video Model), the generation number of buffer overflow and underflow, and PSNR(Required Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) performance between the existing method and proposed method were compared. As a result, it was found that the proposed method would have better performance than the existing method.

  • Today's microprocessor normally includes several processing cores to reduce the energy consumption without losing performance. In this paper, data transfer ordering mechanism can be efficiently used for cache coherence solution in unidirectional ring interconnect. RING-DATA ORDER combines the simplicity of GREEDY-ORDER and the performance of RING-ORDER. RING-DATA ORDER can be easily applicable to multicore processor with unidirectional ring interconnect.
