Development of a Collecting System for Jujube Harvester (대추수확기의 집과시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Jujube is one of korean most favorite fruits. Harvesting operations of the jujube farming, however, completely depend on hand labor. Especially, collecting operation requires about three times of hand labor compared with separate operation by impacting or shaking of twigs in the hand-harvesting system of jujube fruits. Consequently, jujube farmers sincerely demand the mechanization of the collecting operation of jujube fruits in the harvesting operation. A new collecting system was designed and constructed five parts-collecting pad, guide ring system, sorting system, frame with driving system, and handle with operation levers, which performed collecting operation of jujube fruits without missing fruits in five part functions, however, an extra future more deliberate study would need how to handle conveniently the collecting pad of the prototype in the narrow space of row of the jujube farm.

A Study on Failure Characteristics and Reliability Prediction of the Rice Combine Harvester (콤바인 수확기(收穫機)의 고장특성(故障特性) 및 신뢰성(信賴性) 예측(豫測)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • This study was intended to examine the failure characteristics and breakdowns of the head-fed type combines generally used on farms. The failure distribution was assumed to follow Weibull distribution function and the Weibull parameters of the major parts, units and combine as whole were estimated by using the data collected in a survey. A computer program for the estimation of the Weibull parameter was developed. Monte Carlo method was used in predicting the time between failures. The results of study may be summarized as follows: 1. The number of failures per combine was 4.83 times per year and 0.3 times per hectare of combines of different ages. 2. According to the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test method, it was proved that the Weibull distribution function is well fitted to the characteristics of the failure and breakdowns of combines. 3. Weibull parameters of failure distribution of the combine as a whole were estimated to give the shape parameter ${\beta}$=1.3089 and the scale parameter ${\alpha}$=105.2409. The combining area with 80% reliability was 1.1 ha, and the probability of operating the combine without any failure for a year, was $2.76{\times}10^{-4}$. 4. The mean time between failures (MTBF) of the combines was predicted to be 3.2 ha of operation, which corresponds to 32 hours of operation.

A Study on Ergonomics Design of Wheelbarrow for Melon Farm on Protected Horticulture (시설참외의 수확운반차량에 대한 작업분석 및 인간공학적 설계에 관한 연구)

  • Protected horticulture is labor-intensive. It necessitates great amount of labor in many tasks including grafting, pollination and harvesting. Particularly, carrying crops involves the most intensive labor which leads to a high risk of musculoskeletal disorder. Thus, this study aims at developing an ergonomic vehicle to reduce this intensity of labor and ergonomic evaluation by applying the newly developed vehicles to REBA. 5 healthy male subjects with no records of any musculoskeletal disorder were participated in this study. The experimental units were divided into three categories: lifting, lowering and pushing tasks. The results showed that the developed vehicle received less loads in group B (arms and wrists) than in group A (trunk, neck and legs). Especially, the developed vehicle scored $1.0{\sim}4.4$ in group C on REBA while the conventional wheelbarrow got $3.0{\sim}7.6$, regardless of working postures. In conclusion, the developed ergonomic vehicle provided less loads for human bodies compared to the conventional one.

Development of Tele-image Processing Algorithm for Automatic Harvesting of House Melon (하우스멜론 수확자동화를 위한 원격영상 처리알고리즘 개발)

  • Hybrid robust image processing algorithm to extract visual features of melon during the cultivation was developed based on a wireless tele-operative interface. Features of a melon such as size and shape including position were crucial to successful task automation and future development of cultivation data base. An algorithm was developed based on the concept of hybrid decision-making which shares a task between the computer and the operator utilizing man-computer interactive interface. A hybrid decision-making system was composed of three modules such as wireless image transmission, task specification and identification, and man-computer interface modules. Computing burden and the instability of the image processing results caused by the variation of illumination and the complexity of the environment caused by the irregular stem and shapes of leaves and shades were overcome using the proposed algorithm. With utilizing operator's teaching via LCD touch screen of the display monitor, the complexity and instability of the melon identification process has been avoided. Hough transform was modified for the image obtained from the locally specified window to extract the geometric shape and position of the melon. It took less than 200 milliseconds processing time.

Development of a Robotic Manipulator for a Cucumber Harvester (오이 수확용 로봇 매니퓰레이터 개발)

  • This study developed a manipulator for robotic harvester to harvest cucumber. The manipulator was designed and built fur transferring an end-effecter from a fixed point to a specified cucumber. Its development involved the integration of a manipulating system with a PC compatible, DC motors, geared boxes, timing belts, and a motor controller board. Software, written in Quick basic. combined the functions of motor control with various circumstances. In order to move smoothly and rapidly the manipulator, it's shoulder link and elbow link were minimized by using rotational inertial moment without a motor and a geared box. After 30 replications of exercising the manipulator, it was concluded that the precision values of the X, Y and Z axes were less than 0.5mm, 7.25mm and 0.35mm, respectively. The precision data indicated the manipulator was not missing any steps fur the harvester to reach a target cucumber.

Development of Prediction Model to Estimate the Storage Days of Tomato Using Transmittance Spectrum (투과 스펙트럼을 이용한 토마토 수확 후 저장일자 예측모형 개발)

  • The goal of this study was to develop prediction models to estimate the storage days of tomato. The transmittance spectral data measured on tomato were preprocessed through normalization, SNV, Savitzky-Golay, and Norris Gap and then were used to build the prediction models using partial least square (PLS) method. For the experiments, the tomato samples of different varieties were collected at different harvest time. The samples were taken right after harvest from the field and then were stored in a low-temperature storage room in which room temperature was maintained at $10^{\circ}C$. The transmittance spectral data of the tomato samples were measured at three-day intervals for 16 days. The performance of the prediction models was affected by the preprocessing techniques as well as the varieties and harvest time of the tomato. The best model was found when SNV was applied. The accuracy of the best model was 90.2%. It can be concluded that the transmittance spectra are useful information for predicting the period of storage of tomato.

원산지별 순무 동치미의 품질 특성 비교

  • 중국, 유럽, 한국산 순무를 국내에서 파종.수확한 후 동치미를 담그어 발효 특성을 비교해 보고 김치 제조에 알맞은 품종을 알아보고자 하였다. 신선한 순무의 특성으로 중국산 순무는 가용성 고형물 함량, 경도 및 파쇄성이 가장 높았다. 한국산 순무는 안토시아닌 함량이가장 많았다. 원산지별 순무로 담근 동치미를 $0^{\circ}C$에서 70일까지 경시적으로 이화학적, 관능적 특성을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 중국산 순무 동치미는 숙성 전 기간동안 산도, 가용성 고형물 함량, 탁도, 유산균수가 유럽산에 비하여 높아 발효속도가 가장 컸으며, 한국산 순무 동치미는 중간의 발효 속도를 나타내었다. 이같은 특성은 관능 검사 결과에서도 유사한 경향을 보여주었다. 안토시아닌 함량 및 적색도 a값은 한국산 순무 동치미가 가장 높았고 중국산 순무 동치미가 가장 낮았다. 조직감중 경도는 기계적 분석 결과와 관능 검사 결과 모두에서 한국산 순무 동치미와 중국산 순무 동치미가 숙성전 기간동안 높게 유지되었고 유럽산 순무 동치미는 낮았다. 그러나 전반적인 기호도는 숙성적기인 숙성 40 일에 한국산 순무 동치미가 6.7 점으로 가장 높았고, 그 다음이 중국산 동치미로 5.9 점이었고, 유럽산 동치미는 3.5 점으로 가장 낮았는데, 이 같은 경향은 숙성 전 기간 동안 유사한 경향을 나타내었다(p<0.05). 이상의 결과로부터 맛있는 동치미 제조를 위한 순무는 강화도 고유의 자색순무에 중국산 청색 순무가 지닌 높은 당도와 단단한 조직감을 나타내는 특성을 지닌 품종이 적합하다고 생각된다.

  • 국제적으로 에너지 고갈에 대한 문제점과 환경적은 측면에서 대체 에너지 개발에 대한 관심이 뜨거워 지고 있는 지금 그중에서 에너지 하베스팅에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다 에너지 하베스팅 이란 "자연에서 버려지는 에너지를 수확하여 저장하는 기술" 이며 에너지 하베스팅 방법으로는 태양광을 이용한 태양광발전, 기계적인 운동과 전자기적 현상을 이용한 발전 등이 있다. 태양광발전 같은 경우에 흐린날 이나 실내에서는 사용 할 수 없는 반면 날씨와 관계없는 진동의 기계적 에너지를 전기적 에너지로 변환 할 수 있는 압전 세라믹스를 이용한 에너지 하베스팅의 연구가 이루어 지고 있다. 에너지 하베스팅을 하기 위한 여러 가지 type의 소자가 있지만, 본 논문에서는 무연 압전 세라믹스를 이용한 cantilever type의 실험을 진행하였으며 에너지 하베스팅 시스템에서 핵심이 되는 것은 압전 세라믹스의 성능이므로 비교적 높은 $d_{33}$$g_{33}$를 가진 소자를 선정하였다. 압전 세라믹스를 이용한 에너지 하베스팅의 장점으로 소형 경량으로 이용할 수 있는 범의가 넓으며 진동 또는 충격을 효과적인 방법으로 에너지로 변환할수 있다. 실험 과정으로 KNNS에 CuO를 첨가하여 1차 밀링후 $Ag_2O$를 첨가하여 2차밀링 하여 $900^{\circ}C$ 하소 cantilever type으로 성형 후 $1080^{\circ}C$ 소성을 하여 세라믹스를 제작하여 그에대한 발전 특성을 조사하였다.

Mechanical Characteristics of Garlic Scapes for Developing Mechanical Garlic Bulbils Harvester (마늘 주아 수확기 개발을 위한 마늘종의 역학적 특성 분석)

  • Mechanical characteristics of flower stalks (scapes) of garlic such as shear forces, cutting forces, and modulus of elasticities were investigated as a preliminary research to develop a mechanical harvester of garlic bulbils. The average shear forces of garlic scapes was 0.642 N and the maximum and minimum shear forces were 1.42 and 0.25 N, respectively. The shear forces generally increased as the diameter of garlic scapes increased. There was no correlation between the modulus of elasticity and the diameter of garlic scapes and the average modulus of elasticity of garlic scapes was around $2.40\times10^7\;N/m^2$ There was also no correlation between the cutting force and the diameter of garlic scapes. As the downward speed of blade increased, the cutting force of garlic scapes decreased and reversed to increase. The cutting forces of the lower part garlic scapes were lower than those of the upper part. The range of cutting forces of the lower and the upper part of garlic scapes were 3.88-4.04 N and 4.29-4.93 N, respectively.

Development of a Gripper and a Cutter for the Automatic Harvest of Green Perilla Leaves (식용 들깻잎 수확 자동화 시스템의 그리퍼 및 절단 컷터 개발)

  • The objectives of this study were to develop a harvesting gripper for perilla leaves and test its performance, which was a partial work of the automated perilla leaves harvesting system development. The results of this study could be summarized as the followings: The shear forces for harvesting the perilla were measured. The measured results showed that the average shear force required was 12.13N for cutting the petioles attached to the perilla stalks, and the maximum of 17.42N. The inner diameter of air cylinder used was 6mm and the air pressure was maintained as 0.7㎫ during the tests. The time required for cutting perilla leaves could be adjusted by the control program and cutting operation could be done within 1- 10 seconds. The performance tests were conducted to harvest the perilla leaves by the gripper developed. The average success rates of cutting were 72.2% for the first test, 78.5% for the second, and 74.2% for the last. The perilla leaves were not damaged by the gripper The whole system operation could be finished within three seconds except the delay time for dropping harvested leaves.
