Mitigating Hate Speech in Korean Open-domain Chatbot using CTRL (한국어 오픈 도메인 대화 모델의 CTRL을 활용한 혐오 표현 생성 완화)

  • 대형 코퍼스로 학습한 언어 모델은 코퍼스 안의 사회적 편견이나 혐오 표현까지 학습한다. 본 연구에서는 한국어 오픈 도메인 대화 모델에서 혐오 표현 생성을 완화하는 방법을 제시한다. Seq2seq 구조인 BART [1]를 기반으로 하여 컨트롤 코드을 추가해 혐오 표현 생성 조절을 수행하였다. 컨트롤 코드를 사용하지 않은 기준 모델(Baseline)과 비교한 결과, 컨트롤 코드를 추가해 학습한 모델에서 혐오 표현 생성이 완화되었고 대화 품질에도 변화가 없음을 확인하였다.

Analysis of Korean Spontaneous Speech Characteristics for Spoken Dialogue Recognition (대화체 연속음성 인식을 위한 한국어 대화음성 특성 분석)

  • Spontaneous speech is ungrammatical as well as serious phonological variations, which make recognition extremely difficult, compared with read speech. In this paper, for conversational speech recognition, we analyze the transcriptions of the real conversational speech, and then classify the characteristics of conversational speech in the speech recognition aspect. Reflecting these features, we obtain the baseline system for conversational speech recognition. The classification consists of long duration of silence, disfluencies and phonological variations; each of them is classified with similar features. To deal with these characteristics, first, we update silence model and append a filled pause model, a garbage model; second, we append multiple phonetic transcriptions to lexicon for most frequent phonological variations. In our experiments, our baseline morpheme error rate (WER) is 31.65%; we obtain MER reductions such as 2.08% for silence and garbage model, 0.73% for filled pause model, and 0.73% for phonological variations. Finally, we obtain 27.92% MER for conversational speech recognition, which will be used as a baseline for further study.

The Impact of Gesture and Facial Expression on Learning Comprehension and Persona Effect of Pedagogical Agent (학습용 에이전트의 제스처와 얼굴표정이 학습이해도 및 의인화 효과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of gesture and facial expression on persona effects. Fifty-six college students were recruited for this study, and non-verbal communication skills were applied to a pedagogical agent with gesture (conversational vs. deictic) and facial expression. The conversational gesture may have relationship with social interaction hypothesis of pedagogical agent while the deictic gesture may have relationship with attentional guidance hypothesis. The facial expression can be assumed to facilitate the social interaction between the pedagogical agent and learners. Interestingly, the conversational gesture group showed a tendency of outperforming the deictic gesture group. It may imply that the social interaction theory has a strong impact on cognitive support as well as social interaction for learners. There was a significant interaction effect on the engagement when both of facial expression and conversational gesture were applied. This result has two implications. First, facial expression can facilitate the persona effect for engagement.

  • In this paper, a database interface system with natural language dialogue is designed and implemented. The system is made up of language analysis, context processing, dialogue processing and DB processing unit. The method for classifying and processing an undefined word in language analysis is proposed. It reduces the dictionary size, which gives difficulties in DB Interface. And the current DB Interfaces dealt with an input utterance independently. But the system in this paper provides a user with the interface environment in which he or she can have a continuous conversation with the system and retrieve DB information. Thus in this paper, speech acts which include user's inattentions well as propositional contents are defined, and user action hierarchical model for library DB retrieval is constructed. And the system uses the defined knowledge to recognize-user's plan, effectively understanding and managing the ongoing dialogue. And the system is implemented in the domain of library database in order to prove the proposed methods in this paper.

  • 원만한 인간관계를 유지하기 위해 대화는 필수적인 요소이며 대화를 할 때 대체로 상대방의 눈이나 입을 주시하게 된다. 사람들은 대화를 할 때 상대방이 무슨 생각을 하는지를 눈빛, 입모양 등을 통해서 직감적으로 파악하는 방법에 의존한다. 그러나 제스처를 취하는 경우는 드물고 눈빛은 보더라도 상대방의 의도를 잘 파악하지 못하는 경우가 대부분이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 입술 형태를 추출하고 이를 분석하여 5대 성격과의 상관관계를 연구하는 실험을 수행하였다. 이를 위해 측면 얼굴 영상을 입력자료로 사용하여 입술의 형태에 따른 피실험자 집단을 분류하고 5대 성격을 분석하기 위한 표준 설문지를 통해 무표정 상태의 입술 모양에 따른 성격을 파악하는 연구를 수행하였다.

Survey on Out-Of-Domain Detection for Dialog Systems (대화시스템 미지원 도메인 검출에 관한 조사)

  • A dialog system becomes a new way of communication between human and computer. The dialog system takes human voice as an input, and gives a proper response in voice or perform an action. Although there are several well-known products of dialog system (e.g., Amazon Echo, Naver Wave), they commonly suffer from a problem of out-of-domain utterances. If it poorly detects out-of-domain utterances, then it will significantly harm the user satisfactory. There have been some studies aimed at solving this problem, but it is still necessary to study about this intensively. In this paper, we give an overview of the previous studies of out-of-domain detection in terms of three point of view: dataset, feature, and method. As there were relatively smaller studies of this topic due to the lack of datasets, we believe that the most important next research step is to construct and share a large dataset for dialog system, and thereafter try state-of-the-art techniques upon the dataset.

Effects of Conversational Agent's Self-Repair Strategy On User Experience - Focused on Task Criticality and Conversational Error (대화형 에이전트의 자기발화수정 전략이 사용자 경험에 미치는 영향 - 과업 중요도와 대화 오류 여부를 중심으로)

  • Despite the development of technology and the increase in the spread of smart speakers, user satisfaction keeps decreasing due to conversational errors. This study aims to examine the effect of the self-repair strategy on user experience in the context of conversational agents of smart speakers. Scenarios were designed based on error situations, and participants were divided into two groups by task criticality. The results revealed that the agent's self-repair strategy has a negative effect on trust and perceived ease of use compared with performance without error. It also influenced adoption intention through interaction with task criticality. This study is significant in that it empirically investigated the effects of the self-repair strategy and the user experience factors related to the actual acceptance of the self-repair strategy.

Effect of a Novel App-based Listener Responsiveness Conversation Training Program on Enhancing Conversational Skills in Children with High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder (App-기반 청자 반응 대화훈련 프로그램이 고기능 자폐스펙트럼 아동의 대화기술 향상에 미치는 효과)

  • This study examines the effects of a new app-based intervention program for conversational skills of children with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Participants in this study comprised 26 children diagnosed with autism, Asperger's syndrome, or pervasive developmental disorder-not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS). Participants were randomly assigned into a treatment group or a control group according to their ages, IQ, SCQ, and ASSQ scores. The treatment group met with teachers once a week for a single non-face-to-face class for nine weeks, along with conversation training at home using an app. The control group did not participate in any specific programs for conversational skills. Conversation data of all participants were collected before and after the intervention to compare the two groups based on changes in the conversational turn-taking and topic manipulation skills. When analyzed with respect to a Group X Period analysis of variance (ANOVA), the data indicated maintenance on the rate of appropriate listener's verbal responses in the treatment group, whereas the rate of inappropriate listener's verbal response significantly declined in the control group. In addition, the rate of conversation initiation and maintenance and the rate of appropriate initiation improved in the treatment group, whereas the rate of inappropriate initiation declined in this group. Overall, the study demonstrates promising effects of the novel App-based digital intervention on verbal conversational skills in children with high function ASD.

A Natural Language Conversation Method for Intelligent NPC Implementation in Games (게임에서의 지능적 NPC 구현을 위한 자연어 대화 처리 기법)

  • Recently, there are many researches about natural language processing programs using artificial intelligence methods. But the researches mostly concentrate on Korean morphological analyses and there are few researches about application of the results of Korean morphological analyses. In this paper, we implemented a natural language conversation program that NPC in games can talk with users by natural language sentences using the results of morphological analyses and a rule-based inference method. We proposed representation and implementation methods of rules suitable for the processing of natural language conversation using NEO, a rule-based inference engine. In the experiment using rules and facts about knowledge of conversation for diet counselor NPC, we could verify that natural conversation results were produced.

  • 이동로봇에 통신 기술을 결합하여 응용하려는 시도는 Tele-Robotics라는 학문의 한 분야로 이미 국내외적으로 정착되고 있다. 초기에 Tele-Robotics.Tele-Operation 기술은 극한작업을 위해서만 사용되었으나, 최근에는 일상생활과 밀접한 다양한 분야로 그 응용분야를 넓혀가고 있다. 본 논문에서는 대화식 무선통신 기능을 가진 이동로봇을 제작하고 그와 통신할 수 있는 호스트 시스템을 구성하여 이동 로봇의 원격 제어, 원거리에서의 지형 탐색, 데이터 수집 기능 등을 구현함으로써 본격적인 원격 탐색 시스템 구축을 위한 기초 연구를 수행하였다.
