  • Computer is a modern day invention integrated with mathematics, engineering, and logics. The purpose of this study is to examine mathematicians' roles and influences on the invention, establishment, and developments of computers, particularly in the areas of hardware and software, and to emphasize the importance of mathematics on the computer sciences. To implement these purposes, this study firstly examines the mathematicians based on the period. Secondly from the mathematicians' roles in the development of programming, the correlation between mathematics and computers has been investigated. Finally, mathematicians who gave influence on establishing the current development of computer science are highlighted.

  • This paper examines a historical case- the French Revolution- of conceptual change in mathematics. The case that is a space of possibility gave birth to a new community of mathematical practitioners. Carnot and Monge shared the particular conceptions of the problems, aims, and methods of a field and contributed to found Ecole Polytechnique. I intend to show how Carnot's and Monge's mathematical endeavours responded to social, political and technological developments in French society.

  • In this paper we find the germ of geometric interpretation of complex number in the Euclid Element and try to show the evolution of geometric interpretation of complex number by through Descarte, Wallis, Vessel. As a result, relations and differences between them are found. They related line with complex number and interpreted complex number geometrically by generalizing the multiplication operation.

  • In the nineteenth century was Augustus De Morgan, British mathematician, a great mathematics teacher. Although his name is well known to everybody who is interested in set theory, his major mathematical legacy would arise from his novel research in logic. In this article, we first investigate De Morgan's life briefly; we then consider his precious philosophy of mathematics education based on his students' remarks and his works. Finally, by considering his teaching style, we highlight some of the ingredients that go into making a great mathematics teacher.
