Among the biometrics, signature shows more larger variation than the other biometrics such as fingerprint and iris. In order to overcome this problem, we propose a robust offline signature verification method based on PCA and LDA. Signature is projected to vertical and horizontal axes by new grid partition method. And then feature extraction and decision is performed by PCA and LDA. Experimental results show that the proposed offline signature verification has lower False Reject Rate(FRR) and False Acceptance Rate(FAR) which are 1.45% and 2.1%, respectively.

In this paper we embody a system that recognizes the printed alphabet of two font types (Batang, Dodum) inputted by a black-and-white CCD camera and converts it into an editable text form. The image of the inputted printed sentences is binarized, then the rows of each sentence are separated through the vertical projection using the Histogram method, and the height of the characters are normalized to 48 pixels. With the reverse application of the basic principle of the Nonogram puzzle to the individual normalized character, the character is covered with the pixel-based squares, representing the characteristics of the character as the numerical information of the Nonogram puzzle in order to recognize the character through the comparison with the standard pattern information. The test of 2609 characters of font type Batang and 1475 characters of font type Dodum yielded a 100% recognition rate.
To analyze lateral displacement of excavation walls exposed during the construction of Subway Line 1 in the Daegu region, inclinometer measurement data for sites D4, D5, and Y6 are investigated from the perspective of engineering geology. The study area, in the Banyawol Formation, Hayang Group, Gyeongsang Supergroup, is in the lower part of bedrock of andesitic volcanics, calcareous shale, sandstone, hornfels, and felsite dykes that are unconformably overlain by soil. The rock mass around the D4 site is classified as RMR-V grade and the maximum lateral displacement of 101.39 mm, toward N34W, was measured at a bedding-parallel fault, at a depth of 12 m. The rock mass around the D5 site is classified as RMR-IV grade and the maximum lateral displacement of 55.17 mm, toward the south, was measured at a lithologic contact between shale and felsite, at a depth of 14 m. The rock mass around the Y6 site is classified as RMR-III grade and the maximum lateral displacement of 12.65 mm, toward S52W, was measured at an unconformity between the soil and underlying bedrocks, at a depth of 7 m. The directions of lateral displacement in the excavation walls are vector sums of the directions perpendicular to the excavation wall and horizontally parallel to the excavation wall. Lateral displacement graphs according to depth in the soil profile show curvilinear trajectories, whereas those in bedrock show straight and rapid-displacement trajectories.
This paper proposes a method for line and word segmentation for machine-printed text blocks. To separate a text region into the unit of lines, it analyses the horizontal projection profile and performs a recursive projection profile cut method. In the word segmentation, between-word gaps are identified by a hierarchical clustering method after finding gaps in the text line by using a connected component analysis. In addition, a special symbol detection technique is applied to find two types of special symbols tying between words using their morphologic features. An experiment with 84 text regions from English and Korean documents shows that the proposed method achieves 99.92% accuracy of word segmentation, while a commercial OCR software named Armi 6.0 Pro$^{TM}$ has 97.58% accuracy.y.

Purpose: Measurement of the horizontal and vertical prism diopter was investigated which was occurred due to distance differences between the optical inter-centeral distance (OC) and the interpupillary distance (PD) of the prescribed glasses. Methods: We surveyed 96 subjects (192 eyes) at the average age of 21.56 years old. The PD was measured by using the PD measurement system (DONGYANG PD-85, Korea), and the OC of the glasses was measured by using the projective peak refractive power measurement system (TOPCON CL-200, Japan). The OH value was measured by using Penlight and the PD ruler. Results: The PD which had been measured by the PD system and the OC of the glasses revealed 78.1% of differences. 62.5% of the objects were base-in value prescribed glasses; 58.3% were out of permissible error. Only 8 subject showed concurrence between the prescribed glasses and the OH value, and 82.3% of the objects were induced vertical prism of over 1 (prism diopter). Conclusions: In order to improve the vision function of people who wear glasses, it is necessary to advance the accuracy of PD, OH measurement and making glasses as well.

In this paper, We Propose the automobile license plate extraction method using Discrete Cosin Transform and Correlation fem automobile image obtained through digital camera. The automobile license plate is consisted of the character and rectangle background of it. We extracted the automobile edge image by the DCT processing of automobile image and Obtained the automobile license plate from the automobile edge image by Correlation processing. We separated characters from automobile license plate using the projection histogram. Compare to the previous methods, we obtained the good result from extracting the automobile license plate at night, very strong light and bad weather.
Abstract Perspective views provide a powerful depth cue and thus aid the interpretation of complicated images. The main drawback of current perspective volume rendering is the long execution time. In this paper, we present an efficient perspective volume rendering algorithm based on coherency between rays. Two sets of templates are built for the rays cast from horizontal and vertical scanlines in the intermediate image which is parallel to one of volume faces. Each sample along a ray is calculated by interpolating neighboring voxels with the pre-computed weights in the templates. We also solve the problem of uneven sampling rate due to perspective ray divergence by building more templates for the regions far away from a viewpoint. Since our algorithm operates in object-order, it can avoid redundant access to each voxel and exploit spatial data coherency by using run-length encoded volume. Experimental results show that the use of templates and the object-order processing with run-length encoded volume provide speedups, compared to the other approaches. Additionally, the image quality of our algorithm improves by solving uneven sampling rate due to perspective ray di vergence.

In this paper, we propose an iterative algorithm for reducing the blocking artifact in block transform-coded images by using a wavelet transform. In the proposed method, an image is considered as a set of one-dimensional horizontal and vertical signals and one-dimensional wavelet transform is utilized in which the mother wavelet is the first order derivative of a Gaussian like function. The blocking artifact is reduced by removing the blocking component, that causes the variance at the block boundary position in the first scale wavelet domain to be abnormally higher than those at the other positions, using a minimum mean square error (MMSE) filter in the wavelet domain. This filter minimizes the MSE between the ideal blocking component-free signal and the restored signal in the neighborhood of block boundaries in the wavelet domain. It also uses local variance in the wavelet domain for pixel adaptive processing. The filtering and the projection onto a convex set of quantization constraint are iteratively performed in alternating fashion. Experimental results show that the proposed method yields not only a PSNR improvement of about 0.56-1.07 dB, but also subjective quality nearly free of the blocking artifact and edge blur.
Due to diversification and popularization of devices that use rapid transmission, there are many security issues related to radio waves. As the disturbance and interference of the radio wave can cause a direct inconvenience to a life, it is a very important issue. In this paper, as a means to prevent radio disturbance and interference, the projected image of the reference grid and the deformed grid is obtained by measuring the projected $moir{\acute{e}}$ using the white light source, projecting grid and the light source, and a $moir{\acute{e}}$ pattern is generated with an image processing algorithm by applying a phase diagram algorithm, and generated $moir{\acute{e}}$ pattern phase diagram creates a three-dimensional shape. By making an encrypted token using this measured face shape, the transmission of the information through token ring is determined in order to transmit the horizontal transmission having the dynamic security characteristics which includes authentication strength and caller information, etc. And by confirming the uniqueness of the token and by sending and receiving the horizontal transmission using java serialization and deserialization function, a problem solving method is suggested.
