수의학강좌-토끼에서 심혈관계 질병의 진단과 치료

  • 임상수의사들의 일상적 보고에 의하면 토끼에서 심혈관계 질환의 발생이 점차적으로 증가하고 있는 것을 알 수 있다. 애완동물로서 특히, 실내 애완동물로서의 토끼를 기른 인구의 증가와 더불어 보호자들이 질병의 포착하기 힘든 증상들을 발견하고. 이 글은 체계적인 진단적 접근이 어떻게 향상된 질병관리로 이를 수 있는지 그럼으로써 이런 환축들에게 좀 더 나은 예후를 보장할 수 있는지를 기술하고 있다. 토끼에서 심혈관계 질병의 치료 및 관리에 있어서 초기 단계에서 인식하여 적절한 진단과정을 밟는 것이 매우 중요하다. 이에 토끼에서 발생할 수 있는 심장질병 진단과 치료법 중 수의사가 참고해야할 사항들을 아래 저널에서 번역하여 (In Practice, (2005) 27, 418-425) 기고하는 바 이다.

  • 자연적인 서식지에서 토끼는 번번히 육식 동물의 먹이가 된다. 이들의 일차적이고 우선적인 생존 반응은 발견을 피하기 위한 노력으로 조용히 있는 것이다. 토끼는 폭발적인 속도를 빠르게 낼 수 있고 짧은 거리에서 즉시 방향을 바꿀 수 있도록 가벼운 뼈, 작은 앞다리, 강력하고 잘 발달된 뒷다리를 가졌을 뿐만 아니라, 예민한 청각과 즉각적인 후각을 발달시킴으로써 'fight or flight(적자생존)'로 적응해왔다. 이런 생존 반응은 욕구가 없어진 것으로 나타나는 대부분의 집토끼에도 여전히 존재하지만, 이런 토끼들은 장애에 대해 반응이 불완전하고 변화에 쉽게 스트레스를 받는다. 스트레스를 받은 동물은 일차적으로 anorexia와 용변의 빈도와 일관성에 변화를 유발하는 건강, 생식, 행동적인 문제에 더욱 민감하다.

Establishment of Embryonic Stem Cells Derived from Rabbit Embryos (토끼수정란으로부터 배아세포의 분리)

  • To establish rabbit Embryonic Stem (ES) cells, rabbit one-cell embryos were collected and cultured in vitro to blastocysts. Blastocysts were co-cultured with mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEF), rabbit embryonic fibroblasts (REF) or 570 cells expressing LIF (SNL). Although rabbit ES cells were isolated with low efficiencies, total 8 ES cell lines were kept in vitro with normal colony shape. The MEF was the best feeder for rabbit ES cell isolation in regard to growth rate and undifferentiated morphology. The doubling time of rabbit ES cells in MEF was about 84 hours and the undifferentiated morphology was maintained following passing and freezing processes. These rabbit ES cells were differentiated into embryoid body following the culture in the uncoated dishes, indicating that they were undifferentiated stem cells.

Studies on the Production of Transgenic Rabbits with Growth Hormone Receptor and IGF-1 Receptor Genes (성장관련 유전자를 이용한 형질전환토끼의 생산에 관한 연구)

  • Transgenic rabbits were produced by DNA microinjection using growth hormone receptor (GHR) and IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R) genes fused to metallothionein(MT) promoter. The overall efficiencies for production of transgenic rabbits were 3.2% and 3.1% for GHR and IGF-lR genes, respectively. Founder rabbits transmitted transgenes to their progenies through medelian fashion. Growth rate of GHR and IGF-lR transgenic rabbits was significantly faster than that of non-transgenic rabbits. Transgenic rabbits grew large. (25% and 15% increase in body weight of GHR and IGF-lR transgenic rabbits, respectively) than non-transgenic rabbits and organ weight of transgenic rabbits increased, suggesting that GHR and IGF-1R genes affects growth rates in transgenic rabbits.

  • Nine hundred and eighty fungal strains were isolated from lesions of Trifolium repens L. and various weeds. Among them, F40362, F40496, F40497 strains were selected by the screening of herbicidal activity on Trifolium repens L. and Zoysia japonica. Selected three strains showed selective activity between Trifolium repens L. and Zoysia japonica, and were identified as Penicillium sp.

  • 데마슘과 사상균의 일종인 Curvularia lunata가 식물파편으로 오염된 흙에 의해 눈에 외상을 입은 젊은 수토끼(Orytolaggus cunuculis)에서 각막궤양을 일으킨 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이 토끼는 직경 1.5 mm의 각막궤양, 각막부종, 전방축농, 눈물 등을 나타내었다. 각막 소파시료의 KOH 표본과 진균배지에서의 분리를 통해 진균이 확인되었다. 눈의 외상은 진균성각막염의 발생소인이었다. 토끼장의 흙은 Curvularia lunata의 집락을 많이 형성하였으며, 이것이 감염원으로 추정되었다. 이것은 애완용 토끼에서 Curvularia lunata에 의한 안진균증의 최초의 보고인 것으로 판단된다. 외상의 병력이 있는 동물임상의 다양한 상황에서 Curvularia lunata의 병인론적 역할이 연구되어야 함을 강조하였다.

Use of a Combination Imidacloprid and Permethrin for Psoroptic Mite Infestation in Three Pet Rabbits (세 마리 애완 토끼의 귀진드기 감염증에 imidacloprid와 permethrin 합제의 이용)

  • Psoroptic mites can cause severe pruritic otitis externa with crusts in rabbits. In this case report, three rabbits with a psoroptic mite infestation were treated with a formulation containing 10% imidacloprid and 50% permethrin at a dose of 0.4 ml regardless of body weight. One week after treatment, the rabbits showed mild pruritus with no crusts, mites or eggs. Four weeks after treatment, there were no clinical signs, mites or eggs observed in the rabbits. The rabbits were treated successfully with this combination without adverse reactions for 8 weeks after treatment. This case report suggests that a single topical application of a combination of imidacloprid and permethrin may be an effective and practical treatment for psoroptic mite infestations in pet rabbits.

  • The causative virus causing rabbit hepatitis has been further characterized by evaluating viral proteins and viral nucleic acids of purified viruses from the liver of the experimentally infected rabbits. Rabbit hepatitis virus has one major structural protein of 54 kilodaltons and some minor proteins. Vrial RNA was resistant to DNAse I. The size of viral nucleic acid of this virus was calculated to be about 7.5 kilobases. These findings indicate that rabbit hepatitis virus belongs to the family Caliciviridae.

  • In the [Samguk sagi], is the origin story of , a Pansori novel from the late Joseon period. is derived from an Indian folktale. This article examines the narrative changes from the Indian folktale. Through this, I attempt to examine how the short fable developed into a fascinating story with numerous variants like . The five kinds of stories that I have observed all indicate the development of a common narrative. They also have a common character: terrestrial animals, deputy, and aquatic animals. However, in the original story, the more the character is brought up, the greater the persuasiveness of the action. In addition, the scale of the conflict expands due to the reorganization of the incident. Moreover, the theme of the narrative has diversified by utilizing the space as a contrast. Discussions reveal that a single story or storyteller does not create a fascinating story. The implication being that several narratives and numerous people together make the narrative changes.

Single-Dose Oral Toxicity of the Gardenia Yellow Pigment in Rate and Rabbits (랫드 및 토끼에 대한 치자 황색색소에 관한 단회 투여 경구 독성 시험)

  • This study was performed to evaluate single-dose toxicity of the gardenia yellow pigment in Sprague-Dawley rats and New-Zealand White rabbits via oral routes. The yellow pigment was administered in rats at does levels of 5,000, 2,500, 1,250, 625, 312.5mg/kg and 9mg/kg. And also yellow pigment was administered in rabbits at does levels of 5,000, 2,500, 1,250mg/kg 0 unit /kg. The rats and rabbits of both sexes were observed daily for 14 days after single oral administration. Yellow pigment treated rats and rabbits did not induce any mortalities and abnormal signs in clinical findings, body weights, gross findings and histopathological finding. Based on these results, it is impossible to estimate LD50 values in rats and rabbits. Therefore, it was concluded that gardenia yellow pigment have no effect on acute toxicity and side effect in rats and rabbit.
