굴패각으로부터 제조된 $\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$-CaO내화물의 특성 (Characteristics of $\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$-CaO Refractory Prepared from Oyster Shells)

  • 알루미나와 하소된 귤껍질의 소결반응에 의해 A $I_{2}$ $O_{3}$-CaO내화물이 제조되었다. 치밀화과정에서의 CaO의 영향과 A $I_{2}$ $O_{3}$-CaO 소결체의 특성을 고찰하였다. 소결체의 미세구조와 EDS 결과로 A $I_{2}$ $O_{3}$-CaO화합물을 확인하였다. 145$0^{\circ}C$에서 열처리한 소결체는 2.87/㎤의 부피비중과 12.03%의 겉보기 기공율을 가지며 압축강도는 312kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$이였다. 140$0^{\circ}C$에서 서결체의 열팽창 계수는 6.55Kx10$_{-6}$ $K_{-1}$이였다.

토양 슬러리내에 수착된 phenanthrene의 생물학적 이용성 (Bioavailability of sorbed phenanthrene in soil slurries)

  • Bioavailability study was conducted to elucidate the relationship between sorption/desorption and biodegradation of sorbed phenanthrene in seven different soils. Mineralization kinetics was determined for phenanthrene-sorbed soil slurries inoculated with Pseudomonas putida (ATCC strain 17484). Two biodegradation models were used to fit mineralization kinetics; (i) a first-order degradation model and (ii) a coupled degradation-desorption model. The biodegradation rates were in order of vermicompost >Bion peat > 50% organoclay > Pahokee > blank (no soil, medium only) > montmorillonite > Ohio shale. The mineralization rate constants increased as desorption-resistance of phenanthrene increased. Among the tested sorbents, active biodegradation of phenanthrene was observed in vermicompost and Bion peat. Biodegradation in these two sorbents exhibited little lag time and a high maximum mineralized capacity. The role of sorption/desorption in bioavailability of phenanthrene sorbed in soils was discussed.

수산화아파타이트(HAp)를 이용한 치아 수복제에 관한 연구 (Study on the Tooth Recovery Material Using with Hydroxyapatite)

  • Hydroxyapatite powder was injected into the tooth after decayed tooth clinic. The microstructure of tooth was observed after a tooth extraction in the body. The hydroxyapatite powder was stiffened and the junction of hydroxyapatite powder and tooth was observed. The Ca/P atomic ratio of hydroxyapatite-tooth boundary was higher than hydroxyapatite matrix. And microhardness of hydroxyapatite matrix was 92.4 Hv. The junction of hydroxyapatite powder and tooth was due to the $Ca^{2+}$ ion shift of hydroxyapatite or the firm waxy body was due to setting of hydroxyapatite powder.

매립지 근처에서 산성오염물로 인한 토양오염의 지연에 대한 수치적 연구

  • 산성침출수에 의한 광산폐기물 매립지 근처의 지하 환경의 오염 및 대처 방안의 효과를 수치적으로 예측하였다. 이를 위하여 지하토양에서 Darcy 법칙을 사용한 침출수의 흐름과 이산-분산에 의한 오염물질의 이동현상을 예측하기 위하여 Galerkin 유한요소법을 활용하였다. 토양오염의 지연을 위하여 석회석 차수막을 연직형과 수평형을 도입하여 그 효과를 조사하였다. 수평차수막에서의 수착이 오염물질의 이동을 지연시키는데 상당한 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 반면에 연직차수막은 지하수의 우회유동으로 인한 오염물질의 확산이 가중되고 있는 것으로 예측되었다. 전반적으로 침출수의 흐름은 광산매립지 제방 근처에서 강하게 일어나는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 근거로 차수막의 효과적인 설치방안이 고안되어야 할 것으로 보인다.

PMMA를 결합제로 한 수산화아파타이트 성형체의 제조 (Fabrication of Hydroxyapatite Compacts with Polymethyl Methacrylate)

  • In order to evaluate the possibility of Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) as a binder on hydroxyapatite (HAp) which has good biocompatibility, the properties of HAp compacts with PMMA were examined. When adding 50 wt% of PMMA on HAp and pressed, the compression strength and the hardness of the compacting body were 168MPa and 55 Hv, respectively, and the strength of compacts was higher than that of cortical bone and the hardness was similar to the value of molar. We demonstrated that HAp ceramics can be obtained without additional heat treatment and machining of the ceramic was feasible. Therefore, the HAp compacts have potential to apply to implant or artificial bone after the clinical trials guarantees biocompatibility of it.

반응소결 물라이트-스프넬-지르코니아 복합체에 관한 연구 (Reaction Sintered Mullite-Spinel-Zirconia Composites)

  • Mullite-spinel-zirconia composites were prepared by reaction sintering of calcined alumina and magnesia, and zircon powders. The influence of calcining temperature on densification processes and on mechaical properties of subsequently sintered compacts was investigated. The mullite was formed by the reaction of $\alpha$-Al2O3 and amorphous SiO2 at firing temperatures over 141$0^{\circ}C$. The mullitization proceeded more rapidly in the specimen calcined at 110$0^{\circ}C$ than at either 120$0^{\circ}C$ or 130$0^{\circ}C$. Microstructures before and after the mullitization (or mullite dissociation) showed different morphologies, and their effects on mechanical properties were significant. The flexural strength and fracture toughness of the specimen calcined at 130$0^{\circ}C$ and subsequently fired at 145$0^{\circ}C$ were 316 MPa and 4.2Mpa.m1/2, respectively.

유기용매의 사용없이 알콕사이드로부터 코디어라이트 분말제조 (Cordierite Powder Preparation from Alkoxides without Using Organic Solvents)

  • Cordierite powders were prepared by controlled hydrolysis of metal alkoxides with catalysts in water medium without using organic solvents. Water was adjusted to a certain pH by HC1 and NH4OH. $\alpha$-Cordierite powder was prepared from aluminum isopropoxide, tetraethyl orthosilicate and magnesium ethoxide mixed with water adjusted to pH of 3. At water pH of 11, $\alpha$-cordierite, mullite and $\beta$-quartz phases were coexisted. The powders were freeze dried, calcined and then fired at different temperatures. The characteristics of powders were examined by means of DTA, X-ray diffraction, FT-IR, and electron microscopy. It was found that $\alpha$-cordierite could be synthesized at temperature of 120$0^{\circ}C$ from the powders prepared by alkoxides with water medium without organic solvents.

굴패각과 인산으로부터 수산화아파타이트 분말 합성에 관한 연구 (A Study on The Synthesis of Hydroxyapatite Powders Using Oyster Shells and H3PO4)

  • Hydroxyapatite powders were prepared after heating at $1250^{\circ}C$ by the direct reaction using oyster shells and $H_3$$PO_4$. Properties of hydroxyapatite powders were investigated as XRF, XRD, DTA, FT-IR, SEM. Only hydroxyapatite was observed in XRD powders which was heated at $1250^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours and there was no remained CaO in that sample. And the results of FT-IR of sample was confirmed hydroxyapatite. Sample was agglomerated together, but needle shape morphology was observed in powders heated at $1250^{\circ}C$.
