Hydrodynamic Evaluation Method for Developing the Inflatable Kayak (인플래터블 카약 개발을 위한 유체역학적 성능평가 기법)

  • This study includes results of basin test for hydrodynamic performance evaluation with a developed inflatable kayak. Inclining experiment and turning trial experiment of the developed inflatable kayak and an abroad product were carried out in the Ocean engineering Basin. Resistance test was carried out by using downscale model in the circulating water channel. Through method of following performance evaluation, advantage and disadvantage of the developed inflatable kayak were compared with those of the abroad product.

  • 예부선 운항시 부선의 전방에 위치한 예선에 의한 유동 변화가 부선에 작용하는 동유체력 변화에 미치는 영향을 회류수조 모형시험을 통하여 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 예선에 의한 간섭영향계수를 예부선의 상태변수와 간격 거리 등의 함수로 모델링하고, 모형시험 조건을 도출하였다. 회류수조 모형시험을 수행하여 예부선 상태에 따른 간섭력 계측, 파형 변화 현상 해석, 예선 간섭 유체력 분석을 수행하였다.

  • William Froude(1810-1879)는 현대 시험수조의 창시자이다. 그는 19세기 영국의 조선공학자로서 비교법칙을 정립하고, 예인식 시험수조를 지어 정확한 모형시험을 처음 수행함으로서 시험수조의 역할을 확립한 사람이다. W.Froude의 생활, 그 당시의 기술현황, 그가 고민하며 찾아 나간 실험 및 해석 기법 그리고 현재 해석법과의 연관등을 찾아 이 소고를 작성하였다.

  • 현재 모형선을 이용한 선형성능 검증방법에는 크게 2가지 방법이 있다. 첫째는 예인수조에서 예인전차를 이용하여 정수중에 배를 예인시켜 그에 따른 저항을 시험하는 방법이 있고, 둘째는 회류수조에서 배를 고정하여 물을 회전시켜 모형선의 저항을 측정하는 방법이 있다. 이와 같은 방법은 저속 및 대형선박을 검증하기 위해 계발된 방법들로 소형 고속어선 및 고속레저선박의 저항성능 평가를 수행하기 어려운 것이 현실이다. 예인전차의 예인속도와 회류수조 물의 유속이 소형 고속어선 및 고속레저선박의 속력에 미치지 못하기 때문이다. 따라서 고속을 요하는 선박의 저항성능 평가를 위해 새로운 방법 연구가 필요하다. 이에 고속선의 저항성능 시험을 위해 실 해상에서 일반 선박을 이용하여 예인하는 방법을 적용하여 저항시험을 수행하였으며 그에 맞는 시스템을 설계하였다.

  • We have been noticing the unstable phenomena of measured data which may give a bad influence on the prediction of powering performance characteristics. In this paper, ununiformity of water temperature according to the water depth in towing tank, variation of water temperature between summer and winter, effect of turbulence stimulator and double line phenomena in the resistance test are investigated. And circulating the tank water, heating the towing tank, degassing the tank water and improving the turbulence stimulator are proposed as it's solutions.

  • Fire-resistant boom is one of the most important facilities in in situ homing of spilled oil. Thermal response of a fire-resistant boom to turning is experimentally investigated in this paper by using an electric furnace and a burning test facility. This test facility is composed of a test tank, a fire boom, a hood for inhaling smoke, an incinerator for burning up gases and thermocouples, etc. Thereby a systematic method of approach in small laboratory scale is developed to study the performance of a fire-resistant boom. Burning test is carried out for the fire boom model which has been developed through the present study. It is shown that the present fire boom model has capability to withstand the high temperature around 800℃ and high rate of heat flux on it due to homing. For more realistic experimental environments, larger dimensions in devices and longer time in experiments are recommended in near future.

A Design Experience of Propeller Open Water Testing Dynamometer (소형 프로펠러 단독시험기 설계)

  • A new propeller open water testing device is developed and tested in a tow tank. The devised dynamometer consists of a torque measuring part, a thrust measuring part and a driving motor with an RPM counter. Torque is designed to be measured directly from the torsion of the structure holding the motor by using strain gauges and, consequently, conventional slip ring is removed. Also, in order to make the device fit in relatively small model ships, the weight and the size of the whole integrated structure are reduced in various ways. The developed tester is proved to be easily utilized in small circulating water channel experiments and is believed to have provided us with essential information for future design of various types of conventional or object oriented force measuring device.

  • This study was to evaluate hydrodynamic performance evaluation between an abroad product, a developed inflatable kayak and new developed kayaks. In order to test, inclining and turning trial test were carried out in the Ocean engineering Basin. Also, resistance test was carried out using a reduced scale model in the circulating water channel. In conclusion, stability of KONA was evaluated was the most greatest, the coefficient of resistance and center of gravity from RD-FK-12 were considerable, and turning performance of RD-FK-11 was greater than this of KONA and RD-FK-12.

Experiment Correlation Analysis of Popeller Open-water Characteristics at Towing Tank and Caviaion Tunnel (예인수조와 캐비테이션 터널에서 프로펠러 단독특성의 실험적 상호관계 해석)

  • This paper presents the influence of Reynolds number on propeller open-water performance at the towing tank and the cavitation tunnel for series propellers(No. of blade=4, $0.3{\leq}A_E/A_O{\leq}0.75,\;0.5{\leq}P/D{\leq}1.1$). It is shown that the Reynolds number recommanded by 15th and 17th ITTC is not large enough to obtain reliable P.O.W. test results and then the suitable test conditions for the both facilities is suggested. The correlation of the propeller open-water characteristics at the cavitation tunnel and the towing tank is described and a correlation factor $\kappa$ is deduced from those test results. The viscous effect of the flow around the propeller shaft on the propeller characteristics is investigated from the velocity measurement by Laser Doppler Velocitimetry(L.D.V.). The measured velocity distribution shows that viscous flow effect is not negligible.

공학수조 자유항주시험 시스템 구성 및 파도 중 선박 선회성능 기초 분석

  • 파 중 선박 조종운동시험을 위하여 선박해양플랜트연구소 공학수조 내 자유항주시험 시스템을 구성하였다. 모형선 내에 제어계측 장비와 PC를 탑재하고 육상 관제 PC에서 원격 통제, 모니터링하며, 레이저 추적 방식으로 모형선 실시간 위치를 계측하였다. 준비된 시스템으로 KVLCC2 1/100 축소모형선의 규칙파 중 선회시험을 수행하였다. 파 중 선회성능은 초반의 전진거리, 전술직경, 정상선회 시의 궤적밀림 거리, 각도 등으로 지수화할 수 있다. 각 지수를 추출하여 분석하였고, 동일한 파장 조건에 대한 궤적밀림 경향은 유사함을 보였다.
