  • Coupling beams have been used in bearing wall system during last decades. Practically their sectional effects are fully considered in analysis stage to control lateral displacement because they have good contribution to the stiffness of bearing wall system. But the high resultant forces of coupling beam are not fully satisfied in design stage because coupling beams are restricted in sectional size. In this paper the performance of bearing wall system with coupling beam has been evaluated based on improved equivalent linearization procedure of FEMA 440. 15 storied building is selected for analysis. Variables for performance evaluation are natural period, degree of coupling and soil site. To evaluate performance, demand capacity spectrum is calculated based on KBC 2005. As a result, for the most of the cases the life safety limit of chord rotation of coupling beam is less than the performance point of system for soil site $S_D$. That means that the coupling beam can be severly damaged before the system reaches at performance point.

  • A survey of small-size contractors in Jeju was conducted to investigate college graduate's CAD (computer aided design) competence. Most of small-size contractors use CAD softwares to review and update drawings submitted from an architect. This research analyzed the curriculum of the architectural engineering in several national universities. The CAD classes have 4 or 6 hours per week and use AutoCAD primarily. This research proposes that a CAD class needs at least 6 hours per week, 2D drawing is the main theme in the curriculum, and exercises to make 3D models are also included in the CAD class. The improved methods, Internet cafe and real time feedbacks using a smartphone, to evaluate the reports and exercise results are necessary.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of gradually decreasing action observation training on the upper extremity function and Activities of daily living in chronic stroke patients. For patients with chronic stroke, the groups were divided into experimental group undergoing gradually decreasing action observation training(n=4), control group receiving existing action observation training(n=3) and the study was conducted 6 times a week, 30 minutes per session for a total of 2 weeks. The results of the comparison between the groups before and after intervention and the comparison between the two groups did not show statistically significant differences in BBT, FMA, K-MBI, and MAL, but the experimental group showed a greater difference in terms of average score than the control group. As a result, it was confirmed that gradually decreasing action observation training can have a more positive effect than the existing action observation training.

  • This space is for the of your study in English. If simple menu item changes or the addition of check items are necessary on GUI menu of existing test equipments for military facilities that are programmed by using RAD tools such as Visual C++, they should go through complex steps, such as numerous conducting steps, coding, flash design modification, recompiling and distribution. It is cumbersome process and waste much time. Also, on implementing them, it was worried about leaking secrets because a number of military security considerations were included. To solve such as the above problem, we proposed commercial RIA technologies and a COTS fault diagnostic knowledge-based system that implemented by the XML data design technique in this research. The proposed approach solves the problem of existing methods, reduced inspection time, and improved performance, usability, and maintainability.

  • This study is designed to help pre-service teachers to improve their teaching skills in elementary math class. For this, the consulting program with 5-steps was planned and applied to three elementary pre-service teachers. Each class the teachers performed was analyzed by both Flanders's Interaction Analysis Category System and participant observation. As results of consulting, the common characteristics of three pre-service teachers are shown. Firstly their teaching style is non directive, but they fail to induce their students spontaneously respond. They often ignore or don't use their students' respond they think incorrect to develop the next ideas. Simply saying, their classes are typically teacher-oriented but they are not authoritative. It is proved that consulting program is effective for improving developing non directive teaching skills, but is not much effective decreasing teachers' comment and increasing students' rolls in a math class.

  • The task of author name disambiguation involves identifying an author with different names or different authors with the same name. The author name disambiguation is important for correctly assessing authors' research achievements and finding experts in given areas as well as for the effective operation of scholarly information services such as citation indexes. In the study, we performed error correction and normalization of data and applied rules-based author name disambiguation to compare with baseline machine learning disambiguation in order to see if human intervention could improve the machine learning performance. The improvement of over 0.1 in F-measure by the corrected and normalized email-based author name disambiguation over machine learning demonstrates the potential of human pattern identification and inference, which enabled data correction and normalization process as well as the formation of the rule-based diambiguation, to complement the machine learning's weaknesses to improve the author name disambiguation results.

  • When thousands of hypotheses are tested simultaneously, the probability of rejecting any true hypotheses increases, and large multiplicity problems are generated. To solve these problems, researchers have proposed different approaches to multiple testing methods, considering family-wise error rate (FWER), false discovery rate (FDR) or false nondiscovery rate (FNR) as a type I error and some test statistics. In this article, we discuss Bonferroni (1960), Holm (1979), Benjamini and Hochberg (1995) and Benjamini and Yekutieli (2001) procedures based on T statistics, modified T statistics or local-pooled-error (LPE) statistics. We also consider Sun and Cai (2007) procedure based on Z statistics. These procedures are compared in the simulation and applied to Arabidopsis microarray gene expression data to identify differentially expressed genes.

  • This study was carried out to obtain the basic informations on the characteristics of gametophytes formation and microspore germination in Astragalus membranaceus Bunge. Pollen mother cells passed through meiosis when the flower bud length reaches around 3.5 mm, thus creating the tetrad when it is 4.0 mm long. Pollen attains full growth when the bud is about 10.0 mm long and the anther is found to dehisce when the length of tate bud reach around 12.0 mm. Embryo sac develops at a similar speed as pollen did and it attains its full growth when the bud is about 10-12 mm long. After being stored at 4$^{\circ}C$ or -4$^{\circ}C$, the pollen maintained its germination ability to almost full extent by the 30th day after store. However, the germination rate at room temperature (23~28$^{\circ}C$) decreased below 3% by the 3rd day of storage and so did the germination speed.

  • Most of wearable platforms(i. e. Samsung Gear, Android Wear) are using most of Tizen mobile platform features without any changes. However wearable devices have unique characteristics due to wearable type, small battery, screen shape, poor network and relative short but frequent user interfaces. In general, a wearable device has a process to be paired with the mobile device, which includes capability exchange that includes information such as device model name, network capability (3G, LTE, Wi-Fi and so on), manufacturer and supported languages. In other word, a wearable device depends heavily on the companion device (i. e. phone, tablet), so wearable platform should consider this. In this paper, we provide the effective application management mechanism using these characteristics of wearable platform to enhance user experience and to reduce sluggish of wearable platform.

  • The objective of the PKL III A 4.4 experiment is to examine that the plant could be controlled by manually operative actions "after Steam Generator Tube Rupture under Offsite Power Available without Safety Injection". In order to verify the limitation and ability of the system code NLOOP in the expeiment simulation, the behaviors of the PKL III facility obtained in the experiment are compared with the results of NLOOP code. NLOOP code, which is originally developed to simulate the transients of the Westinghouse type PWRs by KAERI/SIEMENS, modified properly to simulate the PKL III facility. Particular attention is given to the RCS mass How rate of the natural circulation in loops and the termination behavior of the natural circulation in the isolated loop. The comparisons between the experimental and calculational results show the simulation ability and problems of the code. the code.
