  • This paper is analyzing the situation of the electric vehicle Industry and draw the policy implications to promote electric vehicle industry. Major automobile makers as GM, BMW, Nissan, Audi produce various electric vehicles. But in recent times, only few electric vehicle sold in the world. So, many automobile makers gave up the production of electric vehicles. and the fuel-cell vehicle will replace the electric vehicle as a environment car in the future. We should take the build up of eco system between vehicle makers and the small parts companies, construction of battery charging infrastructure, promotion of standardization activities, and the government's support to revive the electric vehicle industry.

The electrochemical properties of Zr-Ti-V-Ni-Mn hydrogen storage alloys with various compositions for an electrode of Ni-MH secondary battery (Ni-MH 2차 전기 전극용 Zr-Ti-V-Ni-Mn계 수소저장합금의 조성에 따른 전기화학적 특성)

  • Effects of alloy modification for the $Zr_{0.7}Ti_{0.3}V_{0.4}Ni_{1.2}Mn_{0.4}$ alloy as an electrode materials have been investigated. When Ti in the alloy was partially substituted by Zr, the hydrogen storage capacity and subsequently the discharge capacity increased significantly, however, the activation characteristic and rate capability decreased. By substituting Mn with other elements (Cr, Co and Fe) in the alloy, discharge capacity decreased but the cycle life and rate capability were improved. Considering both the discharge capacity, the high rate discharge property and cycle life, the $Zr_{0.7}Ti_{0.3}V_{0.4}Ni_{1.2}Mn_{0.3}Cr_{0.1}$ alloy among the alloys subjected to the test was found to be a prominent alloy for a practical usage.

  • Since the government announced the roadmap to revitalize the hydrogen economy, we are constantly making the effort to expand the use of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) and hydrogen charging stations. There is however a significant issue to build and operate the hydrogen charging station due to the lack of the profit model. Many researchers believe that the supply of FCEV will be increased in the near future and finally ensure the economy of hydrogen charging stations. This study shows that the sales changes of hydrogen gas and consumption patterns by the operation of the hydrogen charging station in Changwon City. The results will be used as the evidence to support for operating the hydrogen charging station by private businesses and the validity of additional establishment of hydrogen charging stations.

Study of a Method for Measuring Hydrogen Gas Concentration Using a Photon-counting Raman Lidar System (광 계수 방식의 라만 라이다 시스템을 이용한 원격 수소 가스 농도 계측 방법에 대한 연구)

  • This paper discusses the development of a Raman lidar system for remote detection and measurement of hydrogen gas by using a photon counter. The Raman signal of the hydrogen gas is very weak and has a very low signal-to-noise ratio. The photon counter has the advantage of improving the signal-to-noise ratio, because it has a discriminator to eliminate the background noise from the Raman signal of the hydrogen gas. Therefore, a small and portable Raman lidar system was developed using a low-power pulsed laser and a photon-counter system to measure the hydrogen gas concentration remotely. To verify the capability of measuring hydrogen gas using the developed photon-counting Raman lidar system, experiments were carried out using a gas chamber in which it is possible to adjust the hydrogen gas concentration. As a result, our photon-counting Raman lidar system is seen to measure a minimum concentration of 0.65 vol.% hydrogen gas at a distance of 10 m.

A Study on Safety Impact Assessment of a Multiple Hydrogen Refueling Station (다차종 동시 충전을 위한 수소 스테이션의 안전 영향 평가 연구)

  • As the proliferation of hydrogen electric vehicles accelerates, there is observed diversification in hydrogen refueling station models. This diversification raises safety concerns for different types of stations. This study conducted a quantitative risk assessment of a multi-vehicle hydrogen station, capable of simultaneously refueling cars, buses, and trucks. Utilizing Gexcon's Effects&Riskcurves Software, scenarios of fire and explosion due to hydrogen leaks were assessed. The study calculated the impact distances from radiative heat and explosion overpressure, and measured risks to nearby buildings and populations. The largest impact distance was from fires and explosions at dispensers and high-pressure storage units. High-pressure storage contributes most significantly to personal and societal risk. The study suggests that conservative safety distances and proper protective measures for these facilities can minimize human and material damage in the event of a hydrogen leak.

  • Because of environmental pollution problem, interests in hydrogen energy has been concentrating sharply. Especially in Korea, the market related with fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen refueling stations is increasing actively under the government-led. However, the actual contributions to environmental improvement effect of hydrogen energy is required to be evaluated with representing reality. In this sense, lots of conventional analyzing tools have some limitations to adapt in Korea's situation directly. It is caused by the differences of raw energy market between the US and Korea. That is, most of analytic tools are developed by representing energy market of the US, where can produce variety of raw feed energy sources. Therefore, in this paper, we propose mass balance based numerical analyzing method, which is suitable for the actual hydrogen production process in Korea for exact evaluation of $CO_2$ emission amount in this country. Using proposed method, we has demonstrated reformed hydrogen from natural gas, LPG and naphtha, electrolysis-based hydrogen, and COG-based hydrogen. Furthermore, with the comparison of GREET program analysis results, robustness of numerical analysis method is demonstrated.

다공성 금속 합금 폼 표면의 향상된 촉매 분산을 위해 원자층 증착법을 이용한 inter-layer의 도입

  • 전 세계적으로 화석연료의 고갈 및 환경오염 문제를 해결하기 위해 신재생에너지에 대한 관심이 급증하고 있다. 이러한 신재생에너지에는 수소 에너지, 자연 에너지(태양열, 지열 등), 바이오 매스 에너지 등이 포함된다. 이 중 수소 에너지는 지구상에 풍부하게 존재하고 있는 물과 탄화수소로부터 얻어지며, 연소 시에도 다시 물을 형성하여 오염 물질을 배출하지 않는 차세대 무공해 에너지원으로써 주목을 받고 있다. 수소 제조를 위한 공정에는 수증기 개질 공정(steam reforming), 부분 산화(partial oxidation) 및 자열개질(autothermal reforming) 등이 있으며 실제로 생산되는 대부분의 수소는 탄소/수소비(1:4)가 높은 메탄($CH_4$) 가스를 이용한 메탄 수증기 개질 공정(steam methane reforming)을 통하여 제조된다. 이 때 수소 제조의 고효율화 및 저비용화를 위해서는 반응물에 대한 높은 선택도, 고활성도 및 높은 안정성을 갖는 촉매가 반드시 필요하며, 대표적으로 Ni, Pt, Ru 등이 보고되고 있다. 이러한 촉매들은 대부분 세라믹 pellet 형태로 제작되어 왔으나 열전도도가 낮고 물리적 충격에 취약하다는 단점이 존재한다. 따라서 우리는 이러한 단점을 극복하고, 촉매의 활성을 높이기 위하여 다공성 금속 합금 폼을 촉매 지지체로 도입하였다. 또한, 다공성 금속 합금 폼 표면에 촉매의 분산 및 안정성을 향상시키기 위해 지지체와 촉매 사이에 원자층 증착법을 이용하여 inter-layer를 도입하였다. 이들의 구조, 형태, 및 표면의 화학적 상태는 주사전자현미경, EDS (energy dispersive spectroscopy)가 탑재된 주사전자현미경, X-선 회절, 및 X-선 광전자 분광법을 이용하여 규명하였다. 더하여 정전압-전류 측정법 및 유도 결합 플라즈마 분광 분석기을 이용하여 전기 화학 반응을 유도하고, 반응 후 전해질의 성분분석을 통해 촉매와 지지체 간의 안정성을 평가하였다. 따라서 본 결과들은 한국진공학회 하계정기학술대회를 통해 좀 더 자세히 논의될 것이다.

A Study of Fluid Structure Interaction Analysis and Coating Characteristics of a Two-stage Pressure Reduction Hydrogen Regulator (2단 감압 수소레귤레이터의 연성해석 및 도금특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, shape design and material selection were carried out for a two-stage pressure-reducing regulator to compensate for the shortcomings of a one-stage mechanical decompression regulator. The shape of the contact surface of the depressurization unit was considered, material was selected, and the shape was designed to compensate for the pulsation and slow response through the two-stage decompression and to solve the problem of high pressure deviation. In terms of airtightness, the deformation amount of TPU showed a small amount of displacement of up to 15.82%. Considering the fact that it is applicable to various hydrogen fuel supply systems by securing universality by applying electronic solenoids to the second pressure reduction, magnetic materials were selected. The hydrogen embrittlement and corrosion resistance were evaluated to verify the plating process. Surface corrosion did not occur in only the case of Cr plating. The elongation during the corrosion process was compared using a tensile test, and there was a difference within 2%.

  • 친환경 선박의 연구개발을 위하여 LNG, 수소 등 신에너지 추진 선박을 활용하고자 신에너지 추진 선박의 전문 연구기관으로 발전시키고 4차 산업혁명에서의 스마트 선박을 선도하고자 본 선박의 설계를 추진하게 되었다. 또한, 해양관광산업과 연계하고자 친환경 유람선 및 친환경 에너지원을 사용하여 추진할 수 있는 적합한 선형 개발을 목표로 진행하고자 하며, 연안 유람선 기술 개발로 지역 기반산업 활성화에 기여하는데 목적이 있다.

ZnO Nanostructures for Photovoltaic Applications

  • 최근 신 재생 에너지에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있으며 특히 태양전지는 차세대 대체에너지로 많은 연구 개발이 이루어지고 있다. 현재 태양전지 시장은 벌크실리콘 태양전지가 주를 이루고 있으나, 박막형, 유기물, 염료감응형 등 다양한 차세대 태양전지가 개발되고 있다. 차세대 태양전지는 글래스나 폴리머 기판위에 형성된 전극을 바탕으로 하여 다양한 형태의 태양전지가 형성되기 때문에 태양전지용 투명도전성 산화물 전극에 대한 중요성이 증가하고 있다. 예를 들어 실리콘 박막형 태양전지의 경우 수소 플라즈마 분위기 안정성 때문에 ZnO:Al 전극이 개발, 적용되고 있다. 이밖에도 ZnO는 나노입자, 나노로드 등의 다양한 형태를 기반으로 유기물 및 염료감응형 태양전지 전극으로 적용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 전기화학적 방법을 이용해 나노입자, 나노로드, 나노 sheet 등 다양한 형태의 ZnO 나노구조를 형성한 후, 태양전지 적용을 위한 전기적, 광학적 특성을 분석하였다. 3차원 형태의 ZnO sheet 전극은 90% @ 550 nm 가 넘는 우수한 광특성 (Haze value)을 보였으며, 염료감응형 태양전지에 적용되었을 경우 2차원 형태의 ZnO 전극에 비해 Jsc 값이 2.5배 이상 향상되었다.
