  • While the hydrogen refueling station is rapidly expanded and installed, the safety inspection of the hydrogen pressure vessel in the station should be very important. Of these, according to ASME, hydrogen embrittlement tests must be performed for hydrogen vessel that store hydrogen above a certain pressure. The main test method for hydrogen embrittlement inspection is to carry out fracture tests and fatigue fracture tests in a high pressure hydrogen atmosphere, which allows the durability limit of the pressure vessel to be measured and the endurable limit to be determined in the hydrogen atmosphere. In detail, the critical crack depth can be calculated by the stress intensity factor(K), and the service life can be determined by da/dN (fatigue growth rate). API579-1/ ASME FFS-1 part 9 exemplifies the calculation method according to the mode of crack-like flaws, but for various shapes such as plates and cylinders, there are about 55 modes according to the shape and location of the crack. Due to the fairly complex formula, it is not easily accessible. In this study, we will show you how to calculate fracture mechanics numerically via Excel and VBA. In addition, this was applied to analyze the effects of the thickness and inner diameter of the pressure vessel on the service life.

  • We have concentrated on the performance improvement of each part for durability, safety and cost of high pressure storage system for fuel cell vehicle so far. But for the mass production of fuel cell vehicle, it is necessary to evaluate durability and safety in system module. We built the standard to evaluate and collision safety of high pressure storage system for fuel cell vehicle, and could verify reliability of high pressure storage system.

Electrode Fabrication and Electrochemical Characterization of a Sealed Ni-MH Battery for Industrial Use (산업용 밀폐형 니켈수소전지의 전극 제조 및 전기화학적 특성)

  • Electrochemical studies were performed by a half-cell test for the nickel hydroxide (cathode) and hydrogen storage alloy(anode) electrodes for the sealed Ni-MH batteries applicable to industrial use. The electrodes were fabricated and checked a charge efficiency and an internal pressure of the battery during charge-discharge cycling. In order to reduce the internal pressure of the sealed Ni-MH battery, cyclic voltammetry (CV) were performed on the electrodes of nickel hydroxide(cathode) and hydrogen storage alloy(anode), respectively. The results of the test showed clearly the oxidation/reduction and oxygen evolution reaction in a nickel hydroxide electrode and the hydrogenation behavior of a hydrogen storage electrode. The sealed Ni-MH battery of 130Ah was fabricated by using nickel hydroxide of a high over-voltage for an oxygen gas evolution and hydrogen storage alloy of a good performance for activation The battery showed a good characteristics such as a high charge efficiency of 98% at 1 C charge current, a low level internal pressure of 4 atm on a continuous over-charging and a large preservation capacity of 95% at 400 cycle.

  • The test method on the Type II high-pressure hydrogen storage tanks made of the metal wire hoop winding is a complex and high risk. Also closeup on the tank being test is difficult. In this study, we studied a mechanical test method for a high-pressure hydrogen tanks. This method must be simple, risk-free and possible to observe the change in microscopic behavior of a metal wire on a liner. As the results, it was possible to observe the microscopic behavior on the metal wire by the mechanical test method. Also, a simple and risk-free test was possible compared to the conventional test method for high pressure hydrogen tanks.

  • 수소의 소규모 분산 생산 기술은 본격 적 인 수소 인프라가 도입되기 전에 연료전지 자동차의 수소 충전용이나 분산 발전형 연료전지의 수소 공급을 위해 필요하다. 생산 용량은 수소 기준으로 $20{\sim}100 Nm^3/hr$ 정도로 현재로선 천연가스의 수증기 개 질법이 가장 경제적인 공정으로 알려져 있다. 소규모 생산에 따른 열효율 저하를 줄이 기 위해 단위 공정들이 통합된 컴팩트 개질 시스템의 개발이 필요하다. 연료전지 자동차용 수소 인프라 조기 구축을 위하여 수소충전소 구축과 국산화 천연가스 수증기 개질기 개발을 병행하여 진행하였다. 수소 충전소 구축 부분은 충전소 부지 확보, 건물 건축, 각종 유틸리 티 설치의 토목 부분과 천연가스 개질형 수소 제조 유닛 설치, 수소 압축, 저장, 디스펜싱 시스템 설치를 포함하고 있으며 고압 설비에 대한 인허가 대응 및 안전대책 작업도 진행하였다. 구축된 수소충전소는 향후 연료전지 자동차 연계 실증 프로그램에 활용할 수 있다. 국산화 핵심 기술 개발을 위하여 열 및 시스템 통합 설계에 의 해 천연가스 수증기 개질기를 제작하고 내부 열교환 구조에 따른 개질기의 성능을 평가하였다. 개발된 개질기는 개질온도 $720^{\circ}C$, 수증기 대 카본 비 2.7의 운전조건에서 $23Nm^3/h$ 이상의 수소 생산이 가능하였으며 73% 이상의 개질 효율을 나타내었다. 개발된 천연가스 수증기 개질기는 향후 수소 정제용 PSA(Pressure Swing Adsorption) 시스템과 연계하여 수소충전소 국산화 엔지니어링 설계 패키지 개발의 핵심 기 술로 사용할 계획이다.시간 정도 운전한 후 시스템을 정지하였다 메탄 전환율과 일산화 탄소 농도, 열효율을 모니터링 하고 있으며, 현재까지 초기 성능을 그대로 유지하고 있다. 앞으로 일일시동-정지 운전 시험을 지속하면서 초기 시동 특성 및 부하 변동에 따른 응답 특성 개선, 그리고 연료전지와의 연계 운전을 실시할 예정이다 한다. 단위 전지 운전 온도 $130^{\circ}C$, 상대습도 37%의 운전 조건에서도 상당히 우수한 전지 성능을 보임에 따라 고온/저가습 조건에서 상용 Nafion 112 막보다 우수한 막 특성을 나타냄을 확인하였다.소/배후방사능비는 각각 $2.18{\pm}0.03,\;2.56{\pm}0.11,\;3.08{\pm}0.18,\;3.77{\pm}0.17,\;4.70{\pm}0.45$ 그리고 $5.59{\pm}0.40$이었고, $^{67}Ga$-citrate의 경우 2시간, 24시간, 48시간에 $3.06{\pm}0.84,\;4.12{\pm}0.54\;4.55{\pm}0.74 $이었다. 결론 : Transferrin에 $^{99m}Tc$을 이용한 방사성표지가 성공적으로 이루어졌고, $^{99m}Tc$-transferrin의 표지효율은 8시간까지 95% 이상의 안정된 방사성표지효율을 보였다. $^{99m}Tc$-transferrin을 이용한 감염영상을 성공적으로 얻을 수 있었으며, $^{67}Ga$-citrate 영상과 비교하여 더 빠른 시간 안에 우수한 영상을 얻을 수 있었다. 그러므로 $^{

  • According to South Korea's policy of supplying eco-friendly hydrogen vehicles, related industries are actively conducting research on the development of hydrogen cars and hydrogen charging station infrastructure. On the other hand, there is a lack of empirical research and assessment of the risk of non-metallic materials (such as liners, seals, gaskets) for classified materials that directly affect the durability and reliability of hydrogen vehicles and hydrogen charging stations. In this study, the risk factors for liners and seals of non-metallic parts used in high-pressure hydrogen installations were derived using FMEA, and the RPN values were calculated by converting the severity, frequency of occurrence and degree of detection into scores. The maximum value of the RPN 600, minimum value 63, average value 278.5 was calculated and periodic control of the liner and seal was identified as important. In addition, through hydrogen soakage and oxygen aging tests for non-metallic rubber products, physical test values that can be used as basic data were presented.

  • A direct cooling equipment for hydrogen liquefaction has been developed and tested. A direct cooling equipment consists of a liquefaction vessel, a radiation shield, a cryostat and a GM refrigerator. The cool-down and warm-up characteristics of the liquefaction apparatus have been investigated in detail. It is found that the hydrogen starts to be liquefied in the liquefaction vessel after 45 minutes of cool-down. The cool-down and warm-up tests of helium gas are also performed. The cool-down and warm-up characteristics of helium gas are found to be very different from those of hydrogen gas, since helium is not liquefied under the present operating conditions. When the liquefaction vessel is evacuated, natural convection phenomena of charged gas in liquefaction vessel can be removed. It is seen that the cool-down time of liquefaction vessel is substantially increased in vacuum environment.

  • Due to the climate changing, the world's countries are tightening regulations on CO2 and air pollutants emission to solve them. In addition, eco friendly vehicles is increasing to replace automobiles in internal combustion engine. Recently, the government is supporting the expansion of hydrogen refueling infrastructure and localization of core equipment in refueling facilities according to the hydrogen economy road map. In this study, design of the Excess flow limiting device in FCEV cylinder valve using by finite element analysis and performed performance tests on prototype. Major test results as hydrostatic strength, continued operation, operation, pressure impulse, leakage showed that the excess flow limiting device meets the performance requirements according to ISO 12619-2 and ISO 12619-11.

A Comparison of the Fuel Economy Test Method on Electric Vehicles (EVs) (전기자동차 연비시험 방법 비교)

  • EVs manufacturers typically target a range of 300 km on a fully charged battery. Many studies have been conducted to improve these disadvantages. As a results, the mileage of EVs is expected to increase significantly. However, as the distance traveled by EVs increases, current test method (SCT) have many difficulties. The biggest problem is that it takes a lot of time to test an EVs and greatly increases the error rate during the test period. In order to solve these problems, this paper discusses the fuel economy test method of EVs for energy efficiency and mileage. The comparison of test methods was achieved by chassis dynamometer test about EVs. These review of test methods are intended to both improve testing efficiency and provide a practical testing methodology that can be easily adapted to accommodate future testing enhancements. In conclusion, the results of MCT mode and SCT mode comparison show similar results within 3 %, confirming that the test method is appropriate. Also, as the CSCM distance becomes shorter in the MCT mode, the mileage becomes longer and the fuel economy becomes lower. As a result, the error from the SCT test results is expected to increase. In order to minimize the error of SCT measurement fuel economy, it is recommended to maximize the CSCM driving distance. However, since the timing of the EOT is not clearly known, it is reasonable to define the allowable range of the CSCE to be within 20 % of the MCT total mileage.
