Effects of Calcium Injection and Chitosan Coating on Shelf Life and Quality of Pork (칼슘 주입과 키토산 코팅 처리가 돈육의 저장성 및 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • Effects of calcium and chitosan treatments on storage and quality of pork were investigated. Porks were coated with 1% each of 30 and 120 kDa chitosans in 3% gelatin solution. Self-life and antioxidation increased significantly in all samples. In contrast with non-treated group, pH of the chitosan-treated group was very stable. Moisture content and water activity (Aw) were similar among all samples. Water-holding capacity decreased slightly, whereas cooking loss increased, during storage in all samples. Value of redness increased in chitosan-coated pork. Tenderness of pork injected with calcium was the highest among all samples. These results showed that preservation and quality of pork were improved by the treatment of calcium and 30 kDa of chitosan.

  • This study dealts with the penetration of methyl methacrylate(MMA) monomer-solvent system into five Korean major tree species, especially the Pinus koraiensis S. et Z., Pinus densiflora S. et Z., Larix leptoiepis Gordon, Quercus serrata Thunb. and Betula platyphylla var japonica Hara. In this report I described the results of the interaction between wood and polymer loading by catalyst-heat polymerization. On the other hand the influence of penetration of polymer loading on dimensional stabilization on WPC of Pinus koraiensis by catalyst-heat polymerization was also investigated.

The Dye Penetration into the Xylem of Robinia pseudoacacia and Pyrus ussuriensis through Water Flow Path (아까시나무와 산돌배나무의 목부(木部)에 있어서 수분이동경로(水分移動經路)에 따른 색소침투(色素浸透))

  • To understand water flow path in the cells of Robinia pseudoacacia and Pyrus ussuriensis and obtain color wood from them, this experiment was performed by penetrating 0.5% acidic fuchsin and 0.5% fast green solution into the living wood of them. A comparison was made of the wood structure and water flow path from Robinia pseudoacacia containing the ring-porous wood with tyloses, and Pyrus ussuriensis including solitary diffuse-porous wood with distinct fiber pits. The dye penetrated into vessel elements in the early wood of two growth rings from bark in Robinia pseudoacacia, but permeated all xylem in fonts ussuriensis. In Robinia pseudoacacia, the vessels of heart wood and intermediate wood were not stained because of tyloses.

  • Rapid screening method for the determination of the emissions of pollutants from vehicle interior parts and materials have been developed as ISO 12219-2 which is using bag and based on a static condition. The method was not controlled humidity in the test bag, so it is not suitable test method for formaldehyde emission test which is highly related to humidity condition. In this study, possibility of control humidity in the static test bag by adding extra water and the effect of humidity condition for formaldehyde emissions have been investigated. The relative humidity in the test bag was affected not only amount of water added also material of test bag and test specimen. The emission intensity of formaldehyde was increased according to increasing relative humidity in test bag. But excessively supplied water was condensed on the inner surface of test bag and surface of sample specimen that were sorption formaldehyde and were reduced its emission intensity.

Effects of Feed Moisture and Barrel Temperature on Physical and Pasting Properties of Cassava Starch Extrudate (수분주입량과 배럴온도에 따른 카사바 전분 압출성형물의 물리적 특성)

  • Considering the importance of cassava as food crops in humid tropics, the effect of feed moisture (20, 25%) and barrel temperature (110, $130^{\circ}C$) on physical properties (piece density, expansion, mechanical properties, color, water solubility index, water absorption index) and pasting properties of extruded cassava starch was investigated. The feed moisture used during extrusion processing had a significant effect on extrudates SME input, specific length and piece density at (p<0.05) while effect on cross-sectional expansion index, apparent elastic modulus and breaking strength in bending shown significantly at p<0.1. Furthermore, the interaction effect of feed moisture and barrel temperature gave a significantly affected the SME input and piece density (p<0.1), specific length (p<0.05) and on redness (p<0.01). The increase in water injection rate led to increase in piece density, apparent elastic modulus, breaking strength in bending, cold peak viscosity, breakdown and final viscosity and decrease in cross-sectional expansion index and specific length. It was found that the extrusion cooking process did not affect the value of color L, color b, water solubility index and water absorption index. Thus, the results of this study can be useful to some extent in developing extruded cassava starch as human and animal feeds.

  • 자연 상태에서의 가스하이드레이트의 존재는 물의 빙점보다 높은 온도에서 가스 수송관이 막히는 사고가 관내에 생성된 하이드레이트에 의한 것으로 규명된 이후영구동토지역이나 심해저에 부존되어 있는 막대한 매장량으로 인해 매우 활발한 연구가 최근에 진행되고 있다. 가스하이드레이트는 수분의 량에 비해 대량의 가스를 함유하므로 인위적인 가스하이드레이트를 제조하기 위하여 여러 가지 연구 중 하이드레이트 반응을 촉진하는 촉진제(promoter)와 생성을 억제하는 억제제(inhibitor)를 찾는 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 계면활성제와 고분자물질이 이들의 다양한 첨가제로 현제 사용되고 있다. 이러한 연구에서 메탄가스하이드레이트 형성에 영향을 미치는 대상물질로 선택한 DME(Dimethane Ether)는 산소 함유율이 34.8wt%인 함산소연료로 최근 신에너지로 부상하고 있으며, 해외 가스전 개발과 맞물려서 상용화단계에 들어와 있다. DME의 물리화학적인 특성으로는 상온의 온도에서 약5기압의 압력으로 액화 시킬 수 있다. 마취성이 강한 디에틸에테르와는 달리 마취성이 없을 뿐만 아니라 인체에 무해한 무색기체로 세탄가가 60가까이되어 경유(세탄가 55) 대체연료로 내연기관의 실증사업이 진행되고 있다. 이러한 특성을 갖고 있는 DME가 메탄가스 하이드레이트 생성에는 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 본 연구에서는 실험을 통해서 분석을 수행하였다. 실험과정에는 세 단계로 구분하여 진행하였는데 첫 번째 단계에서는 메탄가스만으로 하이드레이트 생성조건을 실험분석하였고, 두 번째 단계에서는 DME가스를 먼저 주입한후 동일 온도에서 메탄가스를 주입시켜 하이드레이트 생성 압력을 실험측정하였다. 마지막 단계에서는 DME가스를 약 두 배 정도 많이 주입한 후 동일 온도에서 메탄가스를 주입하여 하이드레이트 생성 압력을 측정하였디. 이러한 단계별 과정을 다소 온화한 $-5^{\circ}C{\sim}4^{\circ}C$의 온도 범위에서 반복적으로 수행하였다. 실험결과에서는 메탄만의 하이드레이트 형성보다 빙점($0^{\circ}C$) 이하의 온도 범위에서는 DME가 메탄하이드레이트 형성에 촉진제 역할을 하였고, 빙점 이상의 온도에서는 억제제의 역할을 하는 것으로 측정되었다. 또한 첨가된 DME의 양에 따라 촉진제의 역할과 억제제의 역할에 확연한 차이를 보였다. 추후 실험에서는 좀더 넓은 농도, 온도 및 압력범위에서 재현성 실험을 추가로 수행할 것도 제안한다.

The In-Situ Ozone Oxidative Remediation Potential of Diesel Fuel-contaminated Soil (디젤오염토양에 대한 지중 오존산화처리 적용 가능성)

  • This paper includes the basic experimental results performed for developing an innovative and technologically feasible process wherein gaseous ozone, a powerful oxidant. is injected directly into vadose zone by which in-situ chemical degradation of semi- or, non-volatile petroleum product such as diesel fuel is derived. As ozone gas injected continuously(50mL/min, 119.0$\pm$6.1mg/L) into soil packed columns artificially contaminated with diesel fuel(initial concentration 1,485mg-DRO/kg/soil), the removal rates at the inlet and outlet point of 14hrs-operated column are 87.9% and 100.0%, respectively. On the other hand, soil vapor extraction system showed less than 30% of removal rates of residual diesel both at the inlet and outlet samples under the same experimental conditions which confirms the limited treatability of SVE in diesel contaminated soil.

  • In this stduy, the column experiments were carried out assuming the soil was contaminated by leakage of gasoline containing MTBE from USTs and pipes around gas stations. Then, characteristics of MTBE transport in the soil were investigated using CXTFIT program. The column experiments with different soil properties, moisture content, organic matter content and flow rate were carried out. Some parameters(D, R, $\beta$, $\omega$) used in two-site non-equilibrium adsorption model were obtained from measuring the MTBE concentration in injection-liquid and in effluent and using CXTFIT program. In addition, The characteristics of MTBE transport in the soil was found using BTCs and obtained parameters. Consequently, the advection decreased as the increase of the content of fine particle and organic, while the MTBE transport by advection was enhanced as increasing flow rate and moisture content.

  • Nuclear fuel $UO_{2+x}$ power was produced from concentrated $UF_6$ by the DCP(Dry Conversion Process). The characterstics of $UO_{2+x}$ powder, prepared with respect to steam flowing conditions and temperature variations in a rotary kiln reactor, have been investigated with a uranium analyzer, water vapor measurement, and SEM. Fluorine content of the powder could be reduced to 8ppm. The moisture content was found to be optimized.

  • 일일 최대 석탄처리 용략이 3톤인 건식 석탄가스화기를 사용하여 가스화에 미치는 주요 변수들중 산화제내 산소농도와 증기 주입량을 변경시켜 가스화성능을 조사하였고, IGCC용 대성석탄을 선정하는 입장에서의 주요 인자 및 고온고압 조건에서의 가스화기 운전상 특성과 문제점을 파악하여 운전상 문제에 대한 대책을 제시하였다. 사용한 석탄은 유연탄인 중국 대동탄과 아영청탄인 미국 알라스카의 유시벨리탄에었는데, 두 탄중 모두 건식 가스화기의 운전상에는 문제가 없었다. 가스화를 위한 산소의 농도는 90%까지 그리고 석탄시료 무게 대비 증가량 10∼12%까지는 가스화의 온도 유지와 가스조성 측면에서 무리 없이 적용할 수 있다고 판단되었다. 이들 가스화 시험을 통하여 생성된 슬랙은 가스화기 슬랙탭의 조업 온도와 대상석탄 회재의 용융특성에 따라 침상 또는 알갱이 형태로 배출되었으며, 슬랙으로부터 중금속 성분이 유출되는지를 분석해 본 결과 침출수에 의한 2차 오염은 없는 것으로 확인하였다. IGCC용 석탄을 선정하는 석탄특성에서는 미분탄의 수분함량, 회재함량, 회재용융온도, 발열량 측면에서 검토하였는데, 건식가스화기의 경우 미분탄의 표면수분의 제거가 중요하고 회재의 함량과 회재의 용융온도를 같이 고려하여 적정한 시료 석탄이 선정되어야 한다는 결론을 얻었다. 가스화기 운전측면에서는 여러 기계적인 문제점들이 발견되었는데 시료공급노즐의 막힘문제, 역화문제, 고온가스 누출문제, 추운 겨울 운전시 오링(O-ring)문제 등에 대한 논의와 대책을 제시하였다.
