A Study on the Design of Office Filing System Furniture (사무용 수납가구의 디자인 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Against the projection that the volume of filing would be drastically cut in the Information Age, the needs for filing in this age increases gradually. In this respect, it is critical to study the design of office filing system furniture. Through this study, we could find out what shall be the major requirements for office lijillg system furniture. This study would also provide important raw data for developing more efficient and more satisfactory office filing system furniture. Subject for this study includes 6 representative filing system furniture including a lateral file cabinet. For the design analysis, we used catalogues of foreign and domestic office furniture, particularly filing system furniture. The analysis is classified into the following six categories such as size, shape, color, material, handle, and filing method, mobility, flexibility, and so on. According to the analysis of office furniture in the market, requirements of furniture fit for office environment are found to be as follows. -Instead of the fixed-type furniture, movable furniture is more adaptable to the ever-evolving office environment. -Design the office furniture in accordance with a standardized module would provide a more unity and diversity of arrangement in space particularly when it is arranged with other furniture. -Development of more diverse color, which ranges from achromatic color to wooden color to other various colors, is more favored in the ever-changing office environment. -As the grip provides a variety of image to the furniture let alone its function, its development is required to be more diverse and more conforming 10 the design of Ihe furniture. -The filing methods in general are with drawer and shelf, among which the drawers design is usually fixed. However, under the evolving office furniture environment, the design of Ihe drawer, bolh inlerior and exterior, shall be more diverse and flexible.

The Design and Decoration of Danish Folk Storage Furniture -In Reference to painting Decoration- (덴마크 민속 수납가구의 디자인과 장식 -채색장식기법을 중심으로-)

  • This study aimed to identify characteristics of design and decoration of Danish peasant furniture especially painted storage furniture used during the 18-19th century before modern design movement of Internationalism prevailed all over the world. Owing to the fact that Danish peasant furniture were made of available conifer around the farms painting method was preferred to carving. Remoted from main land of western and southern Europe Scandinavian countries longed to imitate their Baroque style architecture and furniture made of marble of hard woods. Painting method was adopted to disguise cheap wood so that it looked like expensive or exotic materials such as marble oak metal granite etc. what they could not afford to buy. Eventually they evolved unique materials equipments and methods for imitation painting in order to decorate folk storage furnitures as well as formal architecture : palaces churches and other official buildings,. Marbling clouds marbling graining stencil spatter painting trompe-I'oeil were common to imitate stones or hard woods. Strong and bright colors had good combination together with dull colors on the Danish peasant painted furniture.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop living room storage furniture with multiple functions and for analyzing living room system furniture that can correspond with lifestyles in the living room. Literature survey was used by collecting data on interior design books and magazines. System furniture is very functional depending on the purpose and spaces, and can be modified effectively with the development of design based on the resident's demand. Living room furniture was mostly arranged by two types. One was lower and slimmer in order to use the space effectively, the other totally occupied one side of the living room wall. Furniture combined with multiple functions of lights and electronics can increase the satisfaction and convenience of users. And furniture maximizes storage space and is systemized so that mixture and arrangement are diversified. Flexible and active way furniture that accept various electronic fixtures and performances in the living room. Furniture forms, materials, and colors will be designed for the functions and atmosphere of living rooms. This results will contribute to develop furniture that has additional features such as lighting and electronic appliances hereafter.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the furniture use pattern and needs for built-in furniture of apartment residents. The subjects were 289 housewives who live in apartment houses in Haeundae, Busan. The size of apartments was 60 $m^2$ or 85 $m^2$.The self-administered questionnaire was used. There was no any furniture pattern which can be categorized as the specific one. That is, each family has different kinds of furniture pattern in living room and master bedroom. Also, some subjects wanted to have builted-in furniture in master bedroom.

  • The purpose of this study is developing basic module of kitchen furniture design by considering the dimensions of work-surfaces, such as the size of worktable and the length of the kitchen furniture based on the physical size of a human scale and the behavior in the kitchen and the size of goods. In conclusion, this study develops a basic module of the kitchen furniture and suggests the new dimension for the kitchen based on the human scale and demand for the kitchen goods thus, it is expected to use it as a basic data for the kitchen space study and kitchen furniture industry.

A Study on the Demand of Storage Furniture for Residents in a One-room Studio - Focused on One-person Household's Lifestyle - (원룸 도시형 생활주택 거주자의 수납가구 사용 요구에 관한 연구 - 1인 가구의 라이프스타일 유형을 중심으로 -)

  • The number of one-person households has increased because of social and economic changes in Korea. The purpose of this study is to figure out the need for different types of furniture plans, based on life styles, that minimize undesired dead spaces for those individuals who live by themselves in a one-room studio. Residents of Busan, who are in their 20 to 40 s, answered questionnaires provided by the researchers. 156 questionnaires were analyzed through a statistical process by using SPSS Win 18.0K. The major findings are as follows: (1) The subject's lifestyles were classified into five lifestyle factors: the self-actualizing lifestyle factor, the well-being pursuing lifestyle factor, the open and sociable lifestyle factor, the stable and convenient lifestyle factor, and the information-oriented lifestyle factor. (2) These factors contributed to five lifestyle groups with common characteristic: the 'self-actualizing group' has a positive attitude about self-improvement and most subjects in this group are professionals. The 'well-being pursuing group' has a positive attitude about comfort living. The 'open and sociable lifestyle group' mostly consisted of students who are very positive in regards to accepting new trends. The 'stable and convenient lifestyle group' values stability and convenience in their life. The 'information-oriented group' pursues a lifestyle substantially depending on obtaining online and off-line information.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic information far planning Dinning-Kitchen storage space. The self-administered questionnaire method were used for this study. The result were analyzed SPSS package program. The major findings were summarized as follows: The size of apartment was related to satisfaction of Dinning-Kitchen storage furiture and was related to storage usage.

  • Space given at home, furniture is an important condition to determine its size. As a method for satisfying outer and functional human needs, ever changing, shaped form has also been developed. Modern people tend to decorate the beautiful living space to the needs of the beauty and space of living. In order to satisfy these requirements, the development of furniture to suit the taste of modern people is required. In this study, we add together the design and contemporary design of traditional Korean and use of raw wood can feel the natural and applied to furniture retro design. It is possible to have a motif characteristic of Hanok traditional to suggest a design where you can feel the sensitivity with retro in the direction of the current design change is large and diverse, and in harmony with the living space of modern it is an object that you study the production lighting and storage furniture with the complexity of the traditional and modern.

Comparative Analysis on Design Characteristics of Traditional Storage Furniture in Interior Context of Korea, China and Japan (실내공간 맥락에서 본 한${\cdot}$${\cdot}$일 전통수납가구 특성 비교연구)

  • The cultural identity of each nation has appeared as a major issue in this multi-cultural era, and needs to define It clearly through comparisons with other cultures have been raised. The purpose of this study is to figure out ‘similarity’ and ‘dissimilarity’ on design characteristics of traditional storage furniture in interior context of Korea, China and Japan. Comparative analysis of traditional furniture was conducted in two terms, in terms of inner space, first, spatial elevation and front patterns, second, flooring materials of the interior space and types of furniture legs. Result of first comparative analysis showed that composition of windows, one of the major decorative elements of interior space, positively influenced on furniture, and reflected unique patterns of each country. Second comparative analysis showed that structures and shapes of traditional furniture vary depending on flooring materials. As a result of it, Korean furniture has the structure of ‘punghyeol’ and Chinese furniture has the structure of ‘aja’ with ‘takni’ , a combination of legs. In contrast to the two countries, Japanese furniture has rarely legs. The result of analysis is expected to act a role of establishing the cultural identity of our own country.
