Damage Curves of the Fixed Ends Beam with the Rigid-Plastic Model (강-소성 모델을 이용한 양단 고정보의 손상곡선)

  • The fixed ends beam is analyzed by the s d 0 f system with the rigid-plastic model. And the safety criteria of the fixed ends beam to the Impulsive loads are established with the peak-load ratio to the static collapse load and impulse ratio to the ideal impulse producing the critical displacement. It is shown that the impulse and the peak-load of the impulsive loads are the important factors for the damage of the structures. It is also shown that the damage curves with the peak-load and impulse ratio are useful method to estimate the damage of the structures due to the emphasis on the equivalent dynamic loads rather than the equivalent static loads in the process of deriving the curve.

  • In this paper, a numerical study on the evaluation of the redundancy according to the dimension and spacing of cross beams in the composite twin steel plate girder bridges that are generally recognized as a non-redundant load path structures, has been performed. Specifically, a two-lane three-span continuous (40+50+40m) bridge with I-section cross beams which serve as cross bracing, and without a lateral bracing were considered. The material and geometric nonlinear analyses were conducted to evaluate the ultimate loading capacity of the intact and damaged bridge in which one of the two girders is seriously fractured. Through the numerical analyses, it was recognized that there is little difference in redundancy according to the variation of the dimension and spacing of the cross beams for both intact and damaged bridges.

  • 반복하중을 받는 무근 및 철근 콘크리트 부재는 하중의 반복작용에 의해 과도한 균열 및 처짐을 유발하고 결과적으로 전체 구조요소의 파괴를 일으킨다. 따라서 하중반복에 의한 누적손상의 진행과정을 정량적으로 평가하여 철근콘크리트 보의 사용성과 안전성을 평가하는 것이 중요하고 특히 취성적 거동 특성을 갖는 전단거동의 경우에 더욱 의미가 있다. 본 연구에서는 반복전단하중에 의한 누적손상의 정량적 분석을 위하여 평균변형도 및 평균응력개념에 기초한 수정압축장이론(modified compression field theory)에 의하여 누적손상 모델을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 제안된 모델을 통하여 반복전단하중에 의한 처짐과 변형도의 변화를 평가하는데 유용하게 이용될 것으로 사료된다.

  • Recently, there is a growing interest on sustainable connection system that makes it possible to reuse of main structural members by concentrating most of the damage in the frame caused by strong horizontal force, such as earthquake, to damper. In this study proposed a new type of damage-controlled connection system applying these concepts and analysed the major structural performance of the proposed system through the full-scale cyclic loading test and nonlinear finite element analyses. According to the result, it derived the optimal damper/beam strength ratio that minimize the damage of main members and satisfy at least the fully plastic moment of the beam. And it was to verify the possibility of applying as seismic connection details.

  • Especially, when orthotropic material such as uni-dierectionally woven Carbon Fiber Sheet, resisting only the unidirectional tension, is used to strengthening bridge deck, the direction and width of the strengthening material should be considered very carefully. Thus, analysis of the failure characteristics and the premature failure mechanism of the strengthened decks based on the test results are required. In this study, the premature failure due to the interface debonding of strengthening material of the strengthened deck slab are inquired into failure mechanism through both experiments results and analyses with prototype strengthened deck specimens using carbon fiber sheet.   • In this study, static displacement sensors using lead switches are bonded on concrete beams and RC beams, and monitoring systems to crack damages are studied using radio frequency. If load is received on the center of flexible specimens, bonded static displacement sensors will be destroyed, and these become to send signals of damages at radio frequency system connected with static displacement sensors. Study of these functional building elements will be protected from external factors by unusual weather, earthquake, etc, in RC buildings and structures.

  • A variety of techniques for strengthening have been developed, including pate bonding, external prestressing and overslabbing. Expecially, a strengthening technique for reinforced concrete beams using external unbonded reinforcement offers advantages in speed and simplicity of installation. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the capabilities of a new retrofitting technique, namely external prestressing(out-cable), for flexural strengthening of beams. Results of 2 physical tests (external Post-tension and out-cable system specimen) on strengthened reinforced concrete continuous beams are reported and compared. It is shown that the out-cable system can provide strength enhancement.

The Results of Primary Repair in Acute Injuries of the Posterior Cruciate Ligament (후방 십자 인대 급성 손상에서 일차 복원술의 결과)

  • Background: We analyze the functional evaluation, posterior stability after surgery of acute injuries in the femoral detachment and tibial avulsion fracture of posterior cruciate ligament. Materials and Methods: Twenty two patients who underwent primary repair were followed more than one year after operation (mean follow-up 33.7 months). The patients were evaluated with KT 2000 arthrometer and posterior stress test for posterior stability. Lysholm knee score was used for knee function. Results: Lysholm score revealed 85.3 in femoral detachment group and 91.1 in tibial avulsion fracture group (P<0.05). Posterior displacement of the posterior stress test showed 17.2 mm at initial injury and 8.6 mm at last follow up in femoral detachment group, 16.8 mm at initial injury and 7.1 mm at last follow up in tibial avulsion fracture group. There revealed the tendency of the improved posterior stability of the tibial avulsion group compared with femoral detachment group, but there showed no statistical significance in KT 2000 arthrometer and posterior stress x-ray. Conclusion: Functional results of tibial avulsion fracture group revealed the better outcome compared with femoral detachment group, but the degree of posterior stability in tibial avulsion fracture group showed no statistical significance in posterior stability.

  • A CFRP (Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Plastic) strengthening method being widely used to increase the load-carrying capacity of structures is very suitable for existing bridge structures. However, not only flexure and shear failures but also debonding failure might be additionally occured in reinforced concrete(RC) beams strengthened with the CFRP plates. The CFRP debonding failure would cause a brittle fracture of the beam. Therefore, health monitoring for the CFRP bonding condition is strongly required. In this study, a feasibility of the impedance-based damage detection method using PZT sensors was investigated through a series of experimental studies for realtime structural health monitoring(SHM) for the CFRP laminated concrete structures.

  • Bridge decks are directly exposed to traffic loads and environmental conditions like rainfall water and de-icing chemicals. In this reason, there are often observed the deteriorations of asphalt overlay and concrete deck. In this study, 32 concrete decks were evaluated by the road inspection vehicle and the GPR mounted on the vehicle. The GPR could detect the deteriorations of concrete decks under asphalt overlay, even though the asphalt overlay looks like soundness. Therefore, for the efficient maintenance of concrete bridge decks, GPR examination should be performed with visual inspection.
