The Effect of Corporate Social Responsibility Activities and Corporate Advertising of Korean Companies in China on the Chinese Consumers' Korean Products Evaluation (재중 한국기업의 사회적 책임활동과 기업광고가 중국 소비자들의 한국제품 평가에 미치는 영향)

  • Korean companies currently operating in China have made active efforts to undertake corporate social responsibility activities and corporate advertising to improve their image, as well as marketing activities directly related to their products. In this context, this study aims to analyze how corporate social responsibility activities and corporate advertising influence a company's image from the perspective of Chinese consumers. This study also analyzes corporate image, consumer-company identification, and the structural relationship between the consumers' behavioral responses and their evaluation of Korean products. Based on theoretical discussions and previous studies, the study tests five research hypotheses for the development of a theoretical research model. In order to empirically test the research model, data were collected by enlisting and observing MBA students from major universities in China. The results obtained by actual analysis are as follows. First, corporate social responsibility activities and corporate advertising were found to be positively influential on corporate image. Second, corporate image is positively influential on consumer-company identification. The consumer-company identification of Chinese consumers' evaluation of Korean products, and positive evaluation of Korean products in turn induce positive influences on Chinese consumers' behavioral responses. These results suggest that the Korean companies already established in China not only need to enhance a positive corporate image but also have to make efforts to undertake corporate social responsibility activities and corporate advertising activities in order to improve their continuous and long-term relationship with Chinese consumers.

  • Consumers have been increasing their interests in firms' ethicality as well as in the features of the firms' products when they decide to purchase a certain product. Recently, fair trade is considered to be a type of ethical marketing in the business-to-consumer market. In this regard, the effects of fair trade-based marketing on firm performance have become the center of academic and managerial concerns. Despite this importance, few studies have investigated whether fair-trade is a source of competitive advantage or just a cost of doing business. The present research attempts to provide evidence of how fair trade-based marketing influences competitive advantage. Two experimental studies were conducted to explore consumers' purchase intention, which can be a proxy of competitive advantage, in a foreign product-consumption context. Drawing on the stakeholder theory, the first study was performed to examine the effects of fair trade marketing on consumers' purchase intention through a within-subjects design. In addition, building on the signal theory, the second study was executed to test the effects of a fair trade mark on consumers' purchase intention. The findings of the current research reveal that consumers prefer fair trade-based products to others and that when it comes to fair trade-certified products, consumers are more likely to purchase products with that certification than otherwise, even when those products are sold at higher costs than rival products. Interestingly, the results of this research present that there is a significant difference of consumers' purchase intention of a fair trade-based product between two different marketers. This implies that fair trade-based products should be differentially distributed and targeted at a certain type of consumers.

  • 인터넷 및 전자상거래의 급속한 발전에 따라, 전자상거래를 위한 수많은 상품정보가 생성, 수정, 삭제되고 있는 상황에서 소비자들을 위한 맞춤형 정보서비스 및 개별화된 상품추천 시스템에 대한 필요성이 증가되고 있고 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 이러한 요구를 수용할 수 있는 소비자 지향형 상품추천 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 사용자행위의 모니터 링을 통해 사용자의 관심분야 및 다수의 사용자가 관심을 가지는 상품정보를 추출하며 이를 기반으로 사용자에게 추천함으로써 양질의 정보 및 서비스의 제공에 있다.

  • 흔히 사람이 살아가면서 없어선 안 될 요소로 의식주를 손꼽곤 한다. 그런데 이 3가지 요소 중에서 의류가 맨 앞에 포진함은 의미심장하다. 먹고 자는 행위보다 입는 행위가 더 중요해서 일까. 아마 잠시라도 사람의 곁을 떠나지 않으면 안 되는 필수적인 요소이기 때문에 의류를 제일 앞에 포진시킨 것이 아닐 까 한다. 사실 인간이 옷을 입지 않고 존재하는 시간은 얼마 되지 않는다. 은밀한 사적인 공간에서 아니면 인간은 입어야 하는 게 숙명이다. 반면 삶에 있어 반드시 필요한 입는 행위의 이면에는 빠는 행위, 즉 세탁의 행위가 숙명처럼 존재한다. 한번 입고 옷을 버리지 않은 이상 세탁은 삶에 있어 필수 불가결한 요소이다. 이러한 행위를 가장 편하게 만드는 이기가 세탁기이다. 세탁은 가정에서 하는 게 일반적이기만 상업용 세탁용 시장도 존재한다. 돈 주고 세탁을 맡기는 세탁소가 대표적인 업종이다. 그런데 최근 상업용 세탁 시장의 틈새시장으로 셀프 빨래방이 확대되고 있다. 셀프 빨래방은 말 그대도 소비자가 혼자 세탁기 및 건조기를 이용해 세탁을 하는 업태이다. 셀프세탁 문화의 확대가 전제되어야 하는 이 신업태가 과연 얼마만큼의 시장 파급력을 형성할 수 있을 까. 이 신업태의 중심에 있는 코인업사는 셀프 빨래방의 급속 확산과 성공을 자신하고 있다. 무인매장으로 24시간, 365일 운영을 할 수 있다는 사업 본연의 장점에다 최근 매장 경쟁력을 강화할 야심에 찬 제품군까지 준비했다. 바야흐로 셀프 빨래방의 전성시대를 열어가려하는 코인업의 신사업 추진 현황을 따라가 봤다.

  • Every purchase involves both the cost of the item and the monetary and nonmonetary secondary costs of shopping, arranging the purchase and getting the purchased item home. Along with the cost of the item secondary costs in time, money and effort can be important determinants of shopper's behavior. Studies of shopper's movements within urban areas suggest there are important differences between shoppers in their willingness to incur the secondary costs of shopping downtown or in distance sections of the city. The purpose of this paper is identifies difference purchase activities between inshoppers and outshoppers. and This paper has two major objectives. (1) It seeks to provide answers to the reasons of the outshbpping based on the findings of a study undertaken in a medium-sized city. (2) It seeks to provide information to the outshopper's characteristics. based on the analysis of the data for consumer's demographic, life style characteristics.

  • This study attempted to explore how online game is endowed new meaning and function and changed into totally different product in result by recognition and consuming behavior(game activity) of game users. The subjects of this study are famous Internet based online games called 'Lineage' and 'EverQuest'. These two online games are physically similar games. Both are MMORPG and community-based games. While Lineage became a cyber world as a part of the real world, EverQuest was a game product. This study explored the recognition of garners about game world and different consuming behavior pattern(game activity pattern) in game world made by different recognition of online game. The result from exploring the differences in the recognition of game world showed Lineage garners regarded Lineage world as another living space or a part of real world they can explore and express psychological need and self-identity or self-image and live through diverse activities. But EverQuest garners regarded EverQuest as a product for experience of fantasy world. The result from comparing the game consuming behaviors showed that different recognition of game world made the differences in the game consuming behavior. The results of the present study supported that the recognition of consumers about digital images or content poducts like online game can be different by the value and experience of consumer, and the different recognition make the different consuming behavior of similar or same products. The results supported that the meaning and value of digital images or digital content are endowed by consumers.

  • We investigated the consumer behavior of store choice using consumer panel data. The NBD-Dirichlet model known to be predictive of the consumer's brand choice was also found to be well fitted for the store choice behavior. Understanding the regularity in the store choice will provide both manufacturers and sistributors with the necessary guidelines for their competitive strategies.

  • The evolution of the IT facilitated the social actions of the consumers by supporting social communication of the online users. At the same time it help for the consumer to post malicious comments on the Internet or to spread the unproven news for distorting the public opinion in the SNSs. Although the number of the consumer unethical behaviors and the estimated damage of the innocent companies have been increased, a few studies had investigate on this issue. Based on the Literature on the consumer unethical behaviors and the institution based trust, we had developed the defense strategies against the consumer unethical behaviors. This study would introduce the new perspective that the consumer could always not be innocent. Also, the defense strategy developed in this study could contribute to make the guideline for consumer service manual.
