Near-Net-Shape Forming and Green Properties of Silicon Nitride by Direct Coagulation Casting Technique (직응집성형법을 이용한 질화규소의 실형상 성형공정 및 성형특성)

  • In this proposed study, a new emerging shape forming technique Direct Coagulation Casting(DCC) which enables to fabricate complex-shaped ceramic parts has been investigated using colloid surface chemistry. Various process variables affected by dispersant, coagulation agent and sintering additives, have been evaluated in order to achieve highly concentrated stabilized silicon nitride suspensions. A high solid loading of 51 vol% in the dispersed silicon nitride suspension was prepared with 1.0wt% Tetraethylammonium Hydroxide (TEAH), which obtained a stable silicon nitride suspension with sintering additives $(Al_2O_3\;and\;Y_2O_3)$ in alkaline regions. The addition of hydroxyaluminium diacetate into the suspension, which decomposed at elevated temperatures, led to coagulate of a silicon nitride suspension. In a basic medium, aluminum ions precipitated to aluminum hydroxide $(Al(OH)_3)$, leading to decreased $OH^-$ concentration and, thus, coagulated suspension.

  • The Ru-based thick film resistor(TFR) for sintering at 90$0^{\circ}C$ was synthesized to prepare the LCR net-work. These compositions of pyrochlore could be prepared by decreasing the amount of PbO and increasing alumina and silica contents of glass frit. In this study, the sheet resistances of the TFTs. which sint-ered at 90$0^{\circ}C$ after printing on alumina substrate, the sheet resistances of the TFRs on inductor and capa-citor substrate and the interphase between TFR and substrate were observed. And the changes of the sheet resistance were obtained with the contents of RuO2. In case of the TFR sintered at 90$0^{\circ}C$, the sheet resis-tances on alumina substrates were in the range of 103~106$\Omega$/$\square$, but the sheet resistances of TFR on in-ductor and capacitor substrate were not obtained.

  • Pyrochlore was known as one of the most promising materials for the immobilization of radioactive actinide. This study includes the synthesis, phase relation and characteristics of pyrochlores (CaCeH$f_xTi_{2-x}O_7$=0.2, 0.6, 1.0, 1.4, 1.8, 2.0) in the system of Ca-Ce-Hf-Ti-O. The samples were prepared from high purity of starting materials under the pressure of 400kg/cm$^2$ at room temperature, and were sintered at 1200∼1$600^{\circ}C$ The synthesized samples were analyzed and identified with XRD. The optimal formation conditions of pyrochlores were at 1300∼150$0^{\circ}C$ under $O_2$ atmosphere with batch compositions. During synthesis, pyrochlore, perovskite and $A_{2}BO_{5}$ oxide were formed. The characteristics of this system is that parameter of pyrochlore was increased with the content of hafnium. This phenomenon was due to the difference of ionic size between hafnium and titanium in six coordinated site.

  • 고체산화물 연료전지(SOFC)에서 사용되는 연결재의 주 기능은 각 단위 셀의 연료극과 다음 셀의 공기극을 전기적으로 연결하여, 공기와 사용연료의 분리역할을 하기 위하여 사용된다. SOFC용 연결재는 다른 구성요소 소재보다, 높은 전자 전도성, 낮은 이온전도성, 우수한 기계 적강도가 요구되며, SOFC는 고온에서 작동되기 때문에, 상온에서 작동온도까지 다른 요소 소재들과 유사한 열팽창계수와 물리, 화학적으로 안정성이 요구된다. 현재 연결재 제조기술은 EVD, CVD, plasma spraying, tape casting 등 다양하게 연구되고 있으며, 본 연구는 세라믹 연결재 증착방법 중 저렴한 비용으로 대량 생산이 용이한 습식법(dip coaling)을 적용하여, 연료극 지지체식 flat-tube형 고체산화물 연료전지의 지지체를 위해 세라믹 연결재를 제조하고, 그 특성을 연구하였다. 세라믹 연결재로써 선정한 합성조성은 LaCr $O_3$에 Ca이 치환 고용된 L $a_{0.6}$C $a_{0.41}$Cr $O_3$으로 pechini법으로 합성하였다. 합성된 조성은 100$0^{\circ}C$에서 5시간 하소후 가속 Ball Milling하여 0.5$\mu\textrm{m}$의 평균입자크기를 얻을 수 있었다. XRD 상분석결과 perovskite상 (L $a_{1-x}$ Ca/x/Cr $O_3$)과 CaCr $O_4$를 얻을 수 있었다. slurry를 제조하여 막의 밀착성을 증진시키기 위해 sand blasting시킨 flat tube지지체에 진공펌프를 이용하여 소재내부와 외부의 압력차로 dip coating한 후, 140$0^{\circ}C$로 소결 하였다. coating 결과 박리현상은 없었으나, 표면과 단면의 SEM분석결과 다소 porous한 박막층이 형성되었으며, Ca이온이 지지체로 permeation되는 현상이 발생하였다. 이와 같은 결과로부터 보다 치밀한 박막생성을 위해, slurry 제조조건을 변화시켰으며, Ca이온의 migration을 막기 위해 barrier layer를 이용하였다 완전 소결된 지지체는 가스투과도와 전기전도도측정을 통하여 특성을 평가하였다.였다.다.

  • 경제적 효율의 발전을 원칙으로 하는 종래의 틀을 넘어서서 환경공생형의 새로운 에너지 시스템의 개발에 대한 요구가 증대되어 지고 있다. 이러한 시대적 흐름에 부응하는 여러 가지 신재료의 개발에 관한 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 그 중에서 전기를 열로 열을 전기로 변환 시킬 수 있어서 폐열의 이용 및 전자냉각기술 등에 이용 가능한 열전변환재료가 커다란 기대를 모으고 있다. 열전재료는 사용온도 영역에 따라 여러 가지 재료가 개발되어 지고 있으며, 현재 상온부근 및 저온영역에서 응용 가능한 재료로써 Bi$_2$Te$_3$계 고용체에 관한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 예를 들어, Bi$_2$Te$_3$ 고용체에서 Bi를 Sb으로 치환한 p-type의 (Bi,Sb)$_2$Te$_3$ 고용체와 Te을 Se으로 치환한 n-type의 Bi$_2$(Te,Se)$_3$ 고용체에 관한 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 최근 들어 Kutasov등은 종래에 P-type의 열전재료로써 높은 특성을 나타내는 것으로 알려진(Bi,Sb)$_2$Te$_3$ 고용체가 Sb의 치환량과 Te의 도핑량을 잘 조절하면 n-type의 높은 열전 특성을 나타낸다고 보고하였다. 본 연구에서는 과잉으로 첨가된 Te이 n-type (Bi,Sb)$_2$Te$_3$ 고용체에 미치는 영향을 보다 체계적으로 조사하기 위한 기초단계의 연구로써 Te을 0-0.9at.%로 과잉 첨가하여 제조한 고용체 및 소결체의 미세구조에 관하여 조사하였다.

Effects of $TiB_{2},ZrB_{2}$ and Sintering Temperature on SiC Composites Manufactured by Pressureless Sintering (상압소결법에 의해 제조한 SiC 복합체의 특성에 미치는 $TiB_{2},ZrB_{2}$와 소결온도의 영향)

  • The $\beta$-SiC+ZrB$_2$ and $\beta$-SiC+TiB$_2$ceramic electroconductive composites were pressureless-sintered and annealed by adding l2wt% A1$_2$ $O_3$+Y$_2$ $O_3$(6 : 4wt%) powder as a function of sintering temperature. The relative density showed highest value of 84.92% of the theoretical density for SiC-TiB$_2$ at 190$0^{\circ}C$ sintering temperature. The phase analysis of the composites by XRD revealed of $\alpha$-SiC(6H), TiB$_2$, $Al_{5}$Y$_2$ $O_{12}$ and $\beta$-SiC(15R). Flexural strength showed the highest of 230 MPa for SiC-ZrB$_2$ composites sintered at 190$0^{\circ}C$. The vicker's hardness increased with increasing sintering temperature and showed the highest for SiC-ZrB$_2$ composites sintered at 190$0^{\circ}C$. Owing to YAG, the fracture toughness showed the highest of 6.50 MPa . m$^{1}$2/ for SiC-ZrB$_2$ composites at 190$0^{\circ}C$. The electrical resistivity was measured by the Rauw method from $25^{\circ}C$ to $700^{\circ}C$. The electrical resistivity of the composites showed the PTCR(Positive Temperature Coefficient Resistivity).).

  • Tin doped $In_2O_3$ sputtering target is widely used to produce a various kinds of flat panel display because of high transmittance in visible region and high electrical conductivity. In2O3 and SnO2 powders were prepared by a homogeneous precipitation method using metal source, respectively, the calcining and sintering behavior of the indium-tin oxide(In2O3-SnO2) composite powders were studied. The tin oxide(SnO2) dispersion condition in ITO sputtering target was improved by increasing calcining temperature. And the tin oxide dispersion was also improved by reducing the tin oxide contents in the ITO target from 30 to 5wt%. SnO2 dispersion and densification of ITO target is very difficult to control due to sublimation of SnO2 at over 1150C.

  • The $SrTi0_3$:Al, Pr red phosphors were prepared by solid state reaction method. Phosphor preparation parameters such as sintering temperature and time were optimized for the photoluminescence(PU intensity and the cathodoluminescence(CL) intensity. Powder samples showed the characteristic X-ray diffraction patterns of the perovskite structure and the average particle size of 3~5/$\mu\textrm{m}$ for particle size distribution(PSD) analysis. Also, scanning electron microscopy for the powder samples showed that the particles are reasonably crystallized with spherical shape. Especially, higher low voltage CL properties of $SrTi0_3$:Al, Pr phosphors than commercial $Y_2O_3$:Eu phosphors are expected to be applied for a low voltage field emission display(FED).

  • In this study, BNT($BaO-Nd_{2}O_3-TiO_2$) and $70P_{2}O_5-5B_{2}O_3-(25-x)BaO-xNa_{2}O$ glass-ceramic composites were fabricated and investigated in order to apply for low temperature cofired ceramic. The prepared BNT based glass-ceramic composites were sintered at $800{\sim}950^{\circ}C$ with the glass fit contents ranging from 10 to $15\;wt\%$. The properties such as sintering and dielectric property were investigated in the ceramic compositions according to the phosphate glass frit. The dielectric constant was varied between 10 to 40 and shrinkage rate was increased according to increasing glass frit.

Properties of Liquid Phase Sintered SiC Materials Containing $Al_2O_3$ and $Y_2O_3$ Particles ($Al_2O_3$$Y_2O_3$ 입자를 함유한 액상소결 SiC 재료의 특성)

  • The mechanical properties of liquid phase sintered (LPS) SiC materials, with the addition of oxide powder, were investigated, in conjunction with a detailed analysis of their microstructures. LPS-SiC materials were fabricated at a temperature of 1820 $^{\circ}C$ under an argon atmosphere, using three different starting sizes of SiC particles. The sintering additive for the fabrication of the LPS-SiC materials was an $Al_2O_3-Y_2O_3$ mixture with a constant composition ratio ($Al_2O_3/Y_2O_3$: 1.5). The particle sizes of the commercial SiC powderswere 30 nm, 0.3 $\mu$m, and 3.0 $\mu$m. The flexural strength of the LPS-SiC materials was also examined at elevated temperatures. A decrease in the starting size of the SiC particles led to an increase in the flexural strength of the LPS-SiC materials, accompanying a highly dense morphology with the creation of a secondary phase. Such a secondary phase was identified as $Y_3Al_2(AlO_4)2$. The flexural strength of the LPS-SiC materials greatly decreased with an increase in the test temperature, due to the creation of a large amount of pores.
