Small Angle X-ray Scattering Studies on Deformation Behavior of Rubber Toughened Polycarbonate (소각 X-선 산란을 이용한 고무입자로 강인화된 폴리카보네이트의 변형에 관한 연구)

  • In order to study the toughening mechanism of rubber modified polycarbonate, the sequence of development of micro-voids was investigated by real-time small angle X-ray scattering with Synchrotron radiation (SR-SAXS). The used test method was wedge test. The scattering intensity increases with increasing penetration depth of wedge, i.e. applied strain. The increase is due to the micro-void formation during deformation. This micro-void was uniformly developed in matrix and was different from large-void due to internal cavitation of rubber particle and/or debonding between rubber particle and polycarbonate matrix. The micro-void was developed at the critical strain and the radius of micro-void is around $600{\AA}$. Above the critical strain the size of micro-void remains almost constant with increasing applied strain. However, the population of micro-void increased with applied strain.

  • 아세트알데히드는 석유화학관련시설에서 많이 배출되는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 환경부 고시(제2001-36호)에 이를 포함한 37개 VOC 규제제품 및 물질로 명시되어 있다. 또한, 현재의 8개 악취물질에도 포함되어 있어 강력히 규제하고 있는 물질이다. 아세트알데히드의 주요 특성으로서 최소감지농도는 0.21ppm, LEL(Lower Explosive Limit)은 4%로 반응성이 매우 크며, 액상 및 증기상에서 가연성이 매우 큰 물질이다. 이러한 물질을 처리하기 위해 직접연소법과 촉매연소법을 이용하여 처리하고 있으나, 직접연소법을 이용하는 소각로의 경우 산업폐기물을 소각하는 과정에서 아세트알데히드가 배출되고 있어 아세트알데히드의 주 배출원 이며 고온처리로 인한 비용부담의 단점이 있다.   • In these days, the pollution of marine environment near island at Korean coastal zone caused by the trash human waste and livestocks excreata become intensified. One of the most economic and efficient way to prevent this pollution problem is to set up island circulating incineration system. In this paper, the result of feasibility study on the application of turtle boat hull form to the incinerating vessel has been summarized especially for the resistance and course keeping point of view.

Characteristics of Household Wastes from Fishing Village in Small Island (소규모 도서지역 어촌의 생활계 쓰레기 발생특성에 관한 연구)

  • Characteristics of household wastes production from fishing village in small island was investigated. Investigation was conducted in August and December to represent seasonal characteristics of summer and winter, respectively. Amount of household wastes production was 0.65 kg/capita·day and this is relatively low value compared with nationwide average. Food wastes, papers, vinyl and plastics are major part of combustible portion in household wastes. Composting is inappropriate method as a final disposal method in terms of C/N ratio calculated from elemental analysis. It is recommended that incineration can be appropriate way as a final disposal method of household wastes because low heating value of household wastes is equivalent to that of crude oil. The fraction of food wastes in household is considerably higher than the values obtained from other residential areas in nationwide. Thus, it is evaluated that household composting devices and vermicomposting facilities are necessary to reduce the amount of food wastes. It also can be evaluated that incineration is optimal method as disposal method of household wastes from fishing village except food wastes.

  • Inorganic elemental content of bottom ash generated from municipal solid waste incinerator was determined by neutron activation analysis. Bottom ash samples were collected monthly from incinerator located in city D, strained out by the 5 mm sieve, dried by oven and pulverized by agate mortar. The samples were irradiated at NAA #1 irradiation hole in HANARO research reactor of Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute and the irradiated samples were measured by HPGe-gamma-ray spectrometer. From the activity of measured nuclides, 33 elements including As, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Sb and Zn were determined applying activity creation formula and nuclear data. The quality control was conducted by simultaneous analysis with NIST standard reference materials.
