Photochemical Degradation of Polymers (고분자 물질의 광화학적 분해)

  • The photodegradation of polystyrene and polyethylene was studied utilizing several additives to promote photooxidation. Polymer films with small amount of additives were irradiated with ultraviolet lamps in Rayonet Photochemical Reactor. The progress of photodegradation was followed by measuring the intensities of carbonyl and hydroxyl stretching bands in infrared spectra as well as the viscosity changes. It was found that the increase of carbonyl or hydroxyl peaks was proportional to the decrease of the molecular weight of polymers under study. Iron(II, III) complexes of dithiocarbamate and their analogs showed good results.

  • The sensor to determine ATPase activities was consisted of an immobilized enzyme membrane(purine nucloside phosphoryrase and xanthine oxidase) and an oxygen electrode. The proposed sensor was used for the determination of $K^+-, Ca^{2}+- and Mg^{2+}-$ATPase activities in several fish muscle proteins such as Thunnus albacares(Yellowfin tuna), Tetrapturus audax(Striped marlin), Prognichthys agoo(Japanese flyingfish), and Cypvinus carpio(Carp). $K^+-, Ca^{2}-$ATPase activities measured by the proposed sensor system were in good agreement with the results obtained by a conventional colorimetric assay. One cycle of assay could be completed within 3mlnutes.

  • The studies on the non-destructive testing methods of the composite materials are very important for improving their reliability and safety. AE(Acoustic Emission) can evaluate the defects by detecting the emitting strain energy when elastic waves are generated by the generation and growth of a crack, plastic deformation, fiber breakage, matrix cleavage or delamination. In this paper, the AE signals of the filament wound composite cylinder and sandwich cylinder during the pressure test were measured and analyzed. The signal characteristics of PVDF sensors were measured, and an AE signal analyzer which had the band-pass filter and L-C resonance filter were designed and fabricated. Also, the crack detection capability of the fabricated AE signal analyzer wes evaluated during the pressure tests of the filament wound composite cylinder and the sandwich cylinder.

Hemodynamic Evaluation of St. Jude Medical Prosthesis (센 쥬드 판막의 혈류 역학적 고찰)

  • One hundred eighty-eight patients[August.23,1988,through July.30,1994 underwent aortic[AVR , mitral[MVR , or double [DVR valve replacement with the St.Jude Medical prosthesis. The author analyzed 100 patients with valvular heart disease,who underwent valve replacement with the St.Jude Medical prothesis from 1990 to 1994, at Hanyang University hospital Cardiovascular department. Information on volume and functional change of the heart chamber can be obtained by cardiac echocardiography and cartheterization. Out of 100 patients, 40 patients were male[40% and 60 patients were female [60% . Age ranged from 13 years to 68 years, with mean age of 42.6 years. Mean height was 160.3cm and mean body weight was 54.9Kg. According to NYHA functional classification, class III is most frequent and 60 patients could be classfied under it. MVR [involved Redo MVR was performed in 40 patients, AVR [involved Redo AVR was performed in 18 patients, and DVR [involved Redo DVR was performed in 42 patients. Warfarin [Coumadin anticoagulation was recommended for all patients. Life long warfarin anticoagulation was necessary to all patients who underwent valve replacement with St.Jude Medical prosthesis. Ideal prothrombin time was maintained about 30% during warfarinization. There were no case of mechanical failure. It followed a comparison of echocardiography before and after valve replacement at Hanyang University hospital [30 patients and a preoperative evaluation of cardiac catheterization and angiography [64 patients . The St.Jude Medical cardiac valve is a viable alternative in the surgical therapy of valvular heart disease.

Stuctural Characteristics on Drilling Center Column made of Epoxy-granite Material (드릴링 센타용 에폭시-그래나이트재 컬럼의 구조물 특성 연구)

  • A new fungible materal named Epoxy-Granite composite is applied to the column structure of drilling center in order to investigate the advanced dynamic chatateristics comparing with a conventional cast iron material. The dimensions of new colum structure are adjusted to keep the same stiffness (El value) and the manufacturing conditions are formulated based on the preceeding research experience about the development of Epoxy-Granite structural material. The two kinds of experiments are set up. one of which is for the measurement of natural mode and frequency using experimental modal analysis and the other one is for the measurement of vibration amplitude during idling operation of a machine fool. The comparison of maximum, accelerance values at each natural frequency of bending mode shows a Epoxy-Granite column have larger modal damping ratios(over 2times) than a cast iron column. The vibration amplitude of Epoxy-Granite column measued on the bed motor base and top of column are also much smaller (up to 12%) than the case of cast iron column. It is therefore confirmed that a Epoxy-Granite materal exhibits a good anti-vibrational property even if it is used under the actual operational environments of machine eool as a practical structural element.

  • 2011년 3월 11일 일본 혼슈 센타이 부근 해역에서 발생한 규모 9.0의 지진에 의한 쓰나미로 동북부 지역에 엄청난 피해가 발생함에 따라 우리나라에서도 지진을 비롯한 각종 대규모 자연재해 대비를 위해 재난방송에 대한 체계를 전반적으로 재점검해야 한다는 의견이 나오고 있다. 지금까지 우리는 재난이 발생하면 TV나 라디오 등 전통적인 매체에 의존하고 있으며 실제 이러한 매체는 지금까지 국민들에게 신속하게 재난정보를 알리는 중요하고도 충실한 역할을 담당해 오고 있다. 그러나 지난해 일본의 쓰나미와 같이 인간의 능력으로 감당하기 힘든 대규모 재난이 발생하였을 경우 이러한 전통적인 재난 방송 매체만으론 역 부족이 될 수 있고, 실제로 일본에서 효과를 나타낸 것은 인터넷 전화(VoIP)와 SNS(Social Network Service) 등 뉴미디어로 구글, 페이스 북과 국내의 NHN, 다음 등은 실종자 정보와 피난처 정보를 제공하고 피해자의 안위를 확인할 수 있는 서비스 하는 등 필요한 정보를 실시간으로 알리는 새로운 매체로 큰 역할을 했다는 평가를 받았다. 본 논문에서는 뉴미디어를 재난방송 전달 매체로 활용하기 위해 현재 운영되고 있는 재난방송 체계 및 시스템의 조사를 통해 개선되어야 할 사항을 도출한다.

  • A thinning stage of fingerprint algorithm occupies 39% cycle of microprocessor system for identification processing of image from fingerprint sensor. Hardware block processing is more effective than software one in speed and power consumption, because a thinning algorithm is iteration of simple instructions without a transcendental function. This paper describes an effective hardware scheme for thinning stage processing using Verilog-HDL in $64{\times}64$ Pixel Array. The hardware scheme is designed and simulated in RTL. The logic is also synthesized by XST in FPGA environment and tested. Experimental results show the performance of the proposed scheme and possibility of application for a soft microprocessor and thinning processor embedded fingerprint SoC.

  • Mobile cloud computing uses cloud service to solve the resource constraint problem of mobile devices. Offloading means that a task executed on the mobile device commits to cloud and many studies related to the energy consumption have been researched. In this paper, we designed a response time model considering sensing data synchronization to estimate the efficiency of the offloading scheme in terms of the response time. The proposed model considers synchronization of required sensing data to improve the accuracy of response time estimation when cloud processes the task requested from a mobile device. We found that the response time is effected by new sensing data generation rate and synchronization period through simulation results.

  • Lenstra-Lenstra-Lovasz (LLL) algorithm, which is one of the lattice reduction (LR) techniques, has been extensively used to obtain better bases of the channel matrix. In this paper, we jointly apply Seysen's lattice reduction Algorithm (SA), instead of LLL, with the conventional linear precoding algorithms. Since SA obtains more orthogonal lattice bases compared to those obtained by LLL, lattice reduction aided (LRA) precoding based on SA algorithm outperforms the LRA precoding with LLL. Simulation results demonstrate that a gain of 0.5dB at target BER of $10^{-5}$ is achieved when SA is used instead of LLL or the LR stage.

  • The ultimate purpose of cities is 'the enhancement of quality of life in city'. In order to achieve this, it is required to optimize the Ontology-driven ubiquitous services included in the U-City and UIS of regions and communities and so on. Almost U-Service's contents are related to spatial or temporal extent. So it is important to design Spatio-temporal event schema for efficient access to U-City. There is a rapid change into an urban society in the shape of Ontology-driven ubiquitous services in which a content on a region or an incident is newly reconstructed through various ideas with the influence of the ubiquitous environment.
