Research on the Design and Evaluation of a Control Loading System for Flight Simulator (비행 시뮬레이터용 조종력 재현 장치 설계 및 시험연구)

  • This paper represents the development of a CLS(Control Loading System) for a target a airplane (KT-1) with mechanical linkage reversible flight control system. The system is composed of mechanical frame, controller, sensing part to measure the force from the stick, driving system generating the reaction forces. The DS1103 DSP(Digital Signal Processor) of the dSpace Corp. was used as the controller. The control algorithm of the CLS and the operational environment including monitoring software and evaluation tools are described. The evaluation of the system was conducted according to the requirement specification. The results of the test were analyzed by comparing with the actual data of the target airplane.

A Study on Mission Analysis in Consideration of Effectiveness Measurement of UAV System Operations (UAV 체계운용효과도를 고려한 임무분석 연구)

  • This paper deals with a study on mission analysis considering the effectiveness measurement of UAV system operations. This mission analysis process is composed of 5 steps; (1) creation of a base model in MANA, (2) design of input parameter set using experiment design, (3) mapping input parameter set to the MANA scenario file, (4) data farming and model run in batch process, and (5) statistical analysis of the simulation result. In the result of this study, the effect of input parameter to the dependent parameter was shown to decrease in the order classification range, sweep width, height, speed, FOV(Field of view), and classification probability. The study also shows that the operational effectiveness of an improved scenario proposed can increase 10.2% from the base scenario.

  • The advanced traffic management system of intelligent transport systems automates the related traffic tasks such as vehicle speed, traffic volume and traffic incidents through the improved infrastructures like high definition cameras, high-performance radar sensors. For the safety of road users, especially, the automated incident detection and secondary accident prevention system is required. Normally, CCTV based image object detection and radar based object detection is used in this system. In this paper, we proposed the algorithm for real time highway incident detection system using multi surveillance cameras to mosaic video and track accurately the moving object that taken from different angles by background modeling. We confirmed through experiments that the video detection can supplement the short-range shaded area and the long-range detection limit of radar. In addition, the video detection has better classification features in daytime detection excluding the bad weather condition.

  • The objective of the Intelligent Excavation System (IES) is to recognize the work environment and produce work plan and automatically control the excavator through integrating sensor and robot technologies. This paper discusses one of the core technologies of IES development project, development of 3D work environment modeling. 3D laser scanner is used for 3-dimensional mathematical model that can be visualized in virtual space in 3D. This paper describes (1) how the most appropriate 3D imaging system has been chosen; (2) the development of user interface and customization of the s/w to control the scanner for IES project; (3) the development of the mobile station for the scanner; (4) and the algorithm for the automatic registration of laser scan segments for IES project. The development system has been tested on the construction field and lessons learned and future development requirements are suggested.

Design of 6 DOF Mechanism with Flexure Joints for telecommunication mirror and Experimental Stiffness Modeling (탄성힌지를 이용한 초정밀 통신용 미러 구동 6축 메커니즘 구현과 실험적 강성 모델링)

  • Flexure joints are recently used in the ultra-precision mechanism for a telecommunication mirror stage. Flexure joints have several advantages coming from their monolithic characteristics. They can be used to reduce the size of manipulators or to increase the precision of motion. In our research, 6 dof(degree of freedom) mechanism is suggested for micrometer repeatability using a flexure mechanism. To design the 6-dof motion, the 2-dof planar mechanism are designed and assembled to make the 6-dof motion. To achieve a certain performance, it is necessary to define the performance of mechanism that quantifies the characteristics of flexure joints. This paper addresses the analysis and design of the 6-dof parallel manipulator with a flexure joint using a finite element analysis tool. To obtain experimental result, CCD laser displacement sensor is used for the total displacement and the stiffness for the 6-dof flexure mechanism.

  • The advancement in ubiquitous healthcare specifically in preventive healthcare can lead to longer life expectancy especially for the elderly patients. To aid in preventing premature loss of lives as well as lengthening life span, this research aims to implement the use of mobile and wireless sensor technology to improve the quality of life and lengthen life expectancy. The threats to privacy and security have received increasing attention as ubiquitous healthcare applications over the Internet become more prevalent, mobile and universal. Therefore, we propose Context-aware Service of U-Healthcare Application based Knowledge using Ontology in secure health information exchange. This research also applies ontology in secure information exchange to support knowledge base, context modeling, and context reasoning by applying the general application areas for ontologies to the domain of context in ubiquitous computing environments. This paper also demonstrates how knowledge base, context technologies, and mobile web services can help enhance the quality of services in preventive ubiquitous healthcare to elderly patients.

  • u-City is next generation city which can innovate functions of city. It can realize increase of convenience, improvement of life quality and safety guarantee by convergence of information technologies and ubiquitous service with urban space. Market of u-City is in range of rapid growth and u-City can make enormous synergy effects by accompanying construction technologies with spatial information, sensor technologies, communications network and related equipments. In this study, we analyzed the domestic/abroad status, researches and element technologies involved in u-City. And, we suggested overseas expansion strategy of u-City such as selection and analysis of target nations, packaging method of u-City service models and application of BIM/GIS connection technologies in terms of u-City construction and operation.

Kinetic Analyses on Thermal Degradation of Epoxy Based Adhesive for Packaging Application (센서 패키지용 고분자 접착제의 열화 거동 분석)

  • An analysis of thermal degradation of epoxy based adhesive performed by thermogravimetry tests are presented in this study. Six different heating rates were employed for the weight change measurements. Based on the data, an Arrhenius type modeling equation was developed by calculating activation energies and proportional constants, and $n^{th}$ polynomial function was adopted to predict the weight change rates. The prediction results by the modeling was compared with the data using the average activation energy. It was found that the activation energy at the each heating rate was not same due to the different degradation kinetics, especially at the high heating rate. To overcome this pitfall, a new approach using exponential function series was introduced and employed. The calculation results showed very good agreements with the test data regardless of the heating rates.

Three-dimensional Geometrical Scanning System Using Two Line Lasers (2-라인 레이저를 사용한 3차원 형상 복원기술 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose a three-dimensional (3D) scanning system based on two line lasers. This system uses two line lasers with different wavelengths as light sources. 532-nm and 630-nm line lasers can compensate for missing scan data generated by geometrical occlusion. It also can classify two laser planes by using the red and green channels. For automatic registration of scanning data, we control a stepping motor and divide the motor's rotational degree of freedom into micro-steps. To this end, we design a control printed circuit board for the laser and stepping motor, and use an image processing board. To compute a 3D point cloud, we obtain 200 and 400 images with laser lines and segment lines on the images at different degrees of rotation. The segmented lines are thinned for one-to-one matching of an image pixel with a 3D point.

3D-based Earthwork Planning and CO2 Emission Estimation for Automated Earthworks (자동화 토공을 위한 3D 토량배분과 탄소발생량 추정)

  • The former researches on earthwork automation were mainly focused on GPS and sensor application, environment modelling, equipment path planning, work information management, and remote control etc. Recently, reducing $CO_2$ emission becomes one of main focuses for an automation research. In the case of earthwork operations, many kinds of construction machines or robots are involved, which can cause high level of $CO_2$ in a construction site. An effective earthwork plan and construction machine operation can both increase productivity and safety and decrease $CO_2$ emission level. In this research, some automation concepts for green earthworks are suggested such as a 3D construction site model, a 3D earthwork distribution based on two different earthwork methods, and an earthwork package construction method. A excel-based simulator is developed to generate the 3D earthwork distribution and to estimate the level of $CO_2$ emission for the given earthwork.
