  • Full-board position evaluation in Go is a measurement of judging the advantages and disadvantages between black and white players during a game playing, and through this, the proper tactics and strategies would be undertaken in the near future. In this paper, we tried to evaluate the full-board positions of the 50 AlphaGo vs AlphaGo games using influence function that halved according to the distance. According to the experimental results, there is a limit to making accurate evaluation when the full-board position is assessed only by influence function. In order to overcome this, it is necessary to solve life-and-death problems to deal with dead stones, and it showed that if this is reinforced, we can precisely evaluate the full-board position in Go.

  • Life-and-death problem in Go is a fundamental problem to be overcome for implementing a computer Go. To solve it, an important consideration is to find out who surrounds or is surrounded between black and white players. To figure out the boundary between black and white groups, we applied an influence function and a contour tracing algorithm. We found that applying the Moore-neighbor tracing among various contour tracing algorithms can create boundaries, and also suggested the possibility of tremendously reducing the search space of a game tree.

  • China Coastal Waters (CCW) usually appears in the seas surrounding Jeju Island annually(June to October) and is very pronounced in August. Generally, low-salinity water appears to the western seas of Jeju Island from June through October and gradually propagates to the eastern seas, where CCW meets the Tsushima Current. Empirical orthogonal function (EOF) analysis of SLAs and SSTs indicated that the variance in SLAs and SSTs was $95.01\%$(the first mode to third mode) and $98.09\%$(the first mode), respectively. The PSD of the western waters for the first mode of EOF analysis of SLAs was stronger than that of the eastern waters because of the influence of CCW. The PSD for the EOF analysis of SSTs was similar in all areas (the Yangtze Estuary and the seas to the west and east of Jeju Island), with a period of approximately 260 days.

  • Bare-topped thufur is called as frost scars, implying the rupturing stage of vegetated mounds, Field observations and measurements provide empirical information on the process and factors of thufur disintegration in Mt. Halla, Initial bare patches on mound apexes are scaled up by continuous removal of soil and vegetation, resulting in the formation of crater-like thufur, Frost action plays a primary role in thufur disintegration, In particular, pipkrake loosens soil particles within the bare patches and subsequently accelerates the degradation of vegetated mounds during periods with frequent diurnal freeze-thaw cycle and high soil moisture, Deflation also has an impact on thufur breakup in that the bare patches usually lack upper dark brown soil and are covered with granules, Withered shrubs such as Juniperus chinensis var. sargentii are frequently observed in frost scars and disrupted mounds, indicating that thufur disintegration has been probably influenced by global warming.
