A Numerical Method for Determining Surface Tension of Sessile Drop (Sessile Drop의 형상으로부터 수치계산에 의한 표면장력 측정)

  • A new numerical method for determining the surface tension of a liquid drop by experimental measurement of the contour of the sessile drop is explained. in the present method a very simple and short computer program enables the calculation of surface tension in a few seconds even by a low speed personal computer. It need not the use of any other numerical tables or complex techniques. X and Z-corrdinates at one point on the contour of a sessile drop and the tangential angle at that point are all the data needed when the density of the drop is known. The results were compared with the values derived by a conventional method. This method can be used for the confirmation of measuring accuracy. Also the same concepts can be applied for the pendant drop method by changing only the sign of Z-coordinate from "+" to "-"ot; to "-"ot;-"quot.

Leakage Current of Capacitive BST Thin Films (BST 축전박막의 누설전류 평가)

  • Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3 thin films were deposited by RF magnetron sputliring method in order to clarify the anneal condition and doping effect on loakage current Nb and Al were selected as electron donor and acceptor dopants respectively, in the BST films because they have been known to have nearly same ionic radii as Ti and thought to substitute Ti sites to influence the charge carrier and the acceptor state adjacent to the gram boundary. BST thin films prepared in-situ at elevated temperature showed selatively high leakage current density and low breakdown voltage. In order to achieve smooth surface and to improve electrical properties, BST thin films were deposited at room temperature and annealed at elevated temperature. Post-annealed BST thin films showed smoother surface morphology and lower leakage current density than in-situ prepared thin films. The leakage current density of Al doped thin films was measured to be around 10-8A/cm2, which is much lower than those of undoped and Nb doped BST films. The result clearly demonstrates that higher Schottky barrier and lower mobile charge carrier concentration achieved by annealing in the oxygen atmosphere and by Al doping are desirable for reducing leakage current density in BST thin films.

Weibull Statistical Analysis on the Mechanical Properties of SiC by Immersion in Acidic and Alkaline Solutions (산 및 알칼리 용액에 부식된 SiC의 기계적 특성에 대한 와이블 통계 해석)

  • A Weibull statistical analysis of the mechanical properties of SiC ceramics was carried out by immersion in acidic and alkaline solutions. The heat treatment was carried out at 1373 K. The corrosion of SiC was carried out in acidic and alkaline solutions under KSL1607. The bending strength of corroded crack-healed specimens decreased 47% and 70% compared to those of uncorroded specimens in acidic and alkaline solutions, respectively. The corrosion of SiC ceramics is faster in alkaline solution than in acid solution. The scale and shape parameters were evaluated for the as-received and corroded materials, respectively. The shape parameter of the as-received material corroded in acidic and alkaline solutions was significantly more apparent in the acidic solution. Further, the heat-treated material was large in acidic solution but small in alkaline solution. The shape parameters of the as-received and heat-treated materials were smaller in both acidic and alkaline solutions.

  • lanthanum chromite(LaCrO3) powder was synthesized by the combustion of a solution of metal nitrates La(NO3).6H2O and Cr(NO3)3.9H2O and urea. The pH of solution affected a yield of the combustion products but did not influence the morphology of the products. When the pH of the solution was in the range of 0.7-4, the yield of the combustion products was more than 90% The morphology of the combustion products was af-fected by heating methods for the solution. The hot-plate induced heating of the solution yielded powders hav-ing two-dimensionally interconnected agglomerates whereas microwave-induced heating produced a fine and non-agglomerated powders. The specific surface area(BET) of the combustion products using microwave-in-non-agglomerated powders. The specific surface area(BET) of the combustion products using microwave-in-duced heating method were larger(25~32m2/g) than that of hot plate heating method(10-14m2/g)

  • The etching characteristics of a LiNbO$_3$ single crystal have been investigated using helicon wave plasma source with bias power and the mixture of CF$_4$, HBr, SF$_{6}$ gas parameters. The etching rate of LiNbO$_3$ with etching parameters was evaluated by surface profiler. The etching surface was evaluated by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). The surface morphology of the etched LiNbO$_3$ changed with bias power and the mixture of CF$_4$/Ar/Cl$_2$, HBr/Ar/Cl$_2$, and SF$_{6}$/Ar/Cl$_2$ parameters. Optimum etching conditions, considering both the surface flatness and etch rate were determined.

  • SOFC 발전시스템의 상용화를 위해 선행되어야 할 것은 스택의 안정적 출력 및 신뢰성 확보이다. 이를 이루기 위해서는 스택을 구성하는 구성요소의 신뢰성 있는 규격 및 검수가 필요하다. 즉, 셀, 밀봉재, 분리판 및 집전체로 대변되는 구성요소들이 스택에 장착되었을 때 그 기능을 최대한 발휘하면서도 점진적 또는 급격한 품질저하가 발생되지 말아야 한다. 특히, 셀의 경우 스택의 성능에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 구성요소로서 품질에 대한 명확한 검수기준이 필요하다. SOFC용 셀은 다공성 anode, 치밀한 전해질, 그리고 다공성 cathode로 구성된 세라믹 소결체이다. 이 때 치밀한 전해질에 결함이 내재되어 있거나 물리적 힘에 의해 신규로 발생할 경우, 연료로 사용되는 수소와 공기가 만나는 cross-over가 발생하게 된다. Cross-over는 연료가 소모되는 문제도 있지만 발열로 인한 Hot spot을 형성시켜서 주변과의 온도구배를 유발하고, 이로 인해 고체 전해질의 균열전파를 일으킬 수 있고 나아가 급격한 셀의 파괴를 야기할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 SOFC에 사용되는 셀의 형상측정, 물리적 강도 및 결함 검출을 위한 검수기법을 개발하여 스택의 신뢰성 향상과 향후 규격표준화를 위한 기반을 제공하고자, 평판형 셀의 3차원 형상을 정밀하게 측정하는 장치와 일정 면압을 인가하여 특정 형상을 갖고 있는 셀의 물리적 파괴여부를 판단할 수 있는 장치, 그리고 셀의 전해질에 내재된 결함을 검출할 수 있는 장치를 제작하였다. 본 장치들은 $1,000cm^2$급 평판형 셀까지 검수할 수 있도록 고안하여 양산시스템에 접목시킬 수 있도록 고안된 것이다. 본 장치들을 이용한 검수결과, 현재 $700cm^2$급 평판형 셀의 경우 최대 camber가 4mm 이하, 전해질의 He leak rate는 $5{\times}10^{-5}mbar.l/s.cm^2$ 이하라는 검수규격을 본 연구소에서 운전하는 스택에 1차적으로 적용하였으며 현재 검수규격의 신뢰성 및 강화를 위한 연구를 수행 중에 있다.

Convergence Technique Study through Simulation Thermal Analysis due to the Shape of Electric Heater (전기 히터의 형상에 따른 시뮬레이션 열 해석 연구를 통한 융합 기술 연구)

  • In cold winter season, the apparatuses of heating and heater which warm up the interior of a room are necessary element and the used amount of these apparatuses from the year 2000 has been increased abruptly. But, the fire accident and the danger of fire are also increased. Therefore, 3D modelling is done by referring three kinds of the electric heaters as the heaters of ceramic, carbon and near infrared ray sold in the city for the design of more safe heating apparatuses in this study. The thermal analyses with these models are carried out and the durabilities due to the thermal deformation and stress are studied. By the background of the study results derived in this study ultimately, the durabilities of electric heater models due to each shape can be anticipated and contributed to the development of new heating apparatus with more safe resistance to fire. And it is possible to be grafted onto the convergence technique at design and show the esthetic sense.

  • 희토류 이온이 첨가된 형광체는 조명, 정보 디스플레이, 태양 에너지 변환 소자에 응용 가능하기 때문에 상당한 주목을 받고 있다. 특히, 결정 입자의 형상과 크기는 산업체 응용에 있어서 중요한 변수 중의 하나이다. 구형의 형광체 입자는 형광층의 광학 및 기하학적 구조를 최적화 시킬 수 있고, 결정 입자의 크기는 양질의 코팅을 위해 필요한 결정 입자의 양에 영향을 미친다. 본 연구에서는, $YVO_4$ 모체 결정에 Eu 이온의 농도를 선택적으로 주입하여 발광 효율이 높은 적색 형광체를 합성하고자 한다. 형광체 분말 시료는 활성체인 Eu의 함량을 0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20 mol로 변화시키면서 고상 반응법을 사용하여 합성하였다. 볼밀링 작업을 수행한 후에, 60$^{\circ}C$에서 20시간 건조하였고, 잘게 갈아서 체로 걸러낸 다음에 세라믹 도가니에 넣고 전기로에서 서서히 온도를 승온시켜 500$^{\circ}C$에서 10시간 동안 하소를 실시한 후에 1,100$^{\circ}C$에서 5시간 동안 소결하였다. Eu 이온의 함량비를 변화시켜 합성한 $YVO_4$ : Eu 형광체 분말 시료의 발광 세기의 변화, 결정 구조와 표면 형상을 각각 PL과 PLE, XRD, FE-SEM 장치를 사용하여 측정한 결과들을 종합해 볼 때, Eu 이온의 비가 0.15 mol일때 발광 세기가 최대값을 나타냄을 알 수 있었으며, 더욱 Eu의 함량을 증가시키자 농도 억제 현상에 의하여 발광 세기는 급격히 감소함을 보였다. SEM으로 촬영한 결정 입자의 형상의 경우에, Eu 이온의 함량비가 증가함에 따라 결정 입자들이 더욱 조밀하게 구형에 가까운 형상을 나타냄을 관측할 수 있었다(Fig. 1). 형광체 분말의 형광 스펙트럼의 경우에, 619 nm에 주 피크를 갖는 적색 형광 스펙트럼들이 관측되었으며, Eu 이온의 함량비에 따라 형광 세기는 상당한 의존성을 나타내었다(Fig. 2). Eu 함량에 따른 결정입자의 크기, 형광 세기와 회절 피크의 반치폭 사이의 상관 관계를 제시하고자 한다.

  • Purpose: The laser processability of dental prosthesis is investigated using two ceramic composites, including 3M, Lava Ultimate and Ivoclar vivadent, IPS e.max. Materials and methods: The $CO_2$ laser, picosecond laser and femtosecond laser are used to assess the processing power of dental prosthetic materials Lava Ultimate and IPS e.max and the line processing shape was measured using a confocal microscope. Results: The brittleness, carbonization and micro crack of the ceramic composite were influenced by heat accumulation of the material and could be controlled by the laser power and pulse time. Conclusion: In the case of $CO_2$ lasers, micro crack and carbonation occurred immediately, and in the picosecond laser processing, the micro cracks are partially improved, but the carbonization occurs continuously. Finally, we confirmed the high efficiency of laser processing with femtosecond laser. In particular, Lava Ultimate, a ceramic resin composite material, showed the best processability when processed using a femtosecond laser.

The Shape of Polymers Resulted Condensation in the Mixed Si(OC_2H_5)_4 and Zr(O-nC_3H_7)_4$4 Solutions (Si(OC_2H_5)_4와 Zr(O-nC_3H_7)_4$ 혼합용액의 중합반응에 따른 고분자의 형상)

  • The hydrolysis and condensation reactions in the mixed alkoxide solutions of Si(OC2H5)4 and Zr(O-nC3H7)4 with various water contents (1, 2, 4, and 8 in molar ratio to alkoxide, r) and catalysts were examined by rheological measurements and the number average molecular weight in order to explain the shape of the polymer in the mixed alkoxide solutions. It was found that fibers could be drawn in the viscosity range of 1∼100P from the acid-catalyzed solutions with lower water contents of the mole ratio H2O/alkoxide, r 2. On the other hand, crack free bulk gel was formed from the acid-catalyzed solutions including a large amount of water (r 4), and the base-catalyzed solutions. The relation between the intrinsic viscosity [{{{{ eta }}] and the number average molecular weight n, namely [{{{{ eta }}]=Knα, has shown that the acid-catalyzed spinnable solutions (r=1 and 2) have linear polymers and the exponent α's are about 0.56 and 0.81, whereas non-spinnable solutions (r=4 and 8) have three dimensional network polymers or spherical particles and the exponent α's are 0.41∼0.51 and 0.35.
