  • Continuous fiber ceramic composites(CPCCs) having the advantages of ceramics resistance to heat, eroson can be applied in chemical reactors and engine. CFCCs has relatively high stiffness in spite of low weight. In particular, it exhibits greatly increased toughness, which serves to decrease its inherent damage characteristics of the brittle nature of monolithic ceramics. In this wort, tensile and flexural test for SCS6 fiber/ $Si_3N_4$ matrix composites were studied. An objective of this study is to obtain the basic quantities of mechanical properties for tension and flexural test and link these to the fracture resistance behavior. Then, we showed that wok of fracture concept was useful as a method for describing fracture restance behavior of CFCCs.

  • 본, 논문에서는 카본/에폭시, PZT 세라믹 박판, 글래스/에폭시 층으로 이루어진 곡면형 복합재료 작동기(LIPCA)의 설계, 제작 및 성능실험에 대한 연구 성과를 제시하고 있다. LIPCA의 큰 요점은 기존 THUNDER의 성능을 유지하면서 이를 경량화 하기 위하여 THUNDER의 금속 층을 상대적으로 가벼운 섬유 강화 복합재료로 대체하는 것이다. 이러한 경량화 작업으로 LIPCA는 기존 THUNDER 보다 약 $30{\sim}40%$ 정도의 무게를 감소시킬 수 있으며, 복합재료의 특성에 따라 설계의 유연성을 가질 수 있는 장점이 있다. 또한, 에폭시 수지를 사용함으로써 접착제 없이 평판 몰드에서 오토클레이브에서 $177^{\circ}C$로 경화되어, 탈형된 후 충분한 곡률을 형성하였다. 작동 성능 실험에서, LIPCA는 기존 THUNDER보다 작동변위가 향상됨을 보였다.

  • 고온, 고압의 추진제 연소가스로부터 노즐 구조물을 보호하기 위해 사용되는 열 차폐용 삭마성 내열재료(ablative material)의 종류와 재료선정을 위한 시험방법, 설계 및 제작기법, 성능평가 기준 등에 관한 연구동향을 검토하고 본 연구팀의 연구결과를 제시하였습니다 고체추진제 연소 환경하에서의 노즐 보호재료로서는 고분자계 삭마성 내열재가 주로 사용되는데, 이 ablative material에는 여러 종류가 있으나 높은 heat flux와 빠른 mass flow에 대한 내열을 위해서는 페놀, 폴리이미드 등 열경화성 수지인 charring material이 모재로 주로 사용되며 강도향상을 위해서 탄소, 실리카, 석면, 유리등의 강화섬유가 보강재로 사용됩니다 현재는 모재로서 고분자계 수지외에도 세라믹과 같은 무기재료, 금속재료등과 강화섬유를 조합하여 내열성과 강도가 향상된 재료를 개발하는 연구도 진행되고 있습니다

Development of Lightweight Piezo-composite Curved Actuator (곡면형 압전 복합재료 작동기 LIPCA 개발)

  • This paper is concerned with the development, and performance test of LIPCA (Lightweight Piezo-composite Curved Actuator) that is lighter than other conventional piezo-composite type actuators. LIPCA is composed of top fiber composite layers with a high modulus and low CTE (Coefficient of Thermal Expansion), a middle PZT cermaic wafer, and base layers with a high modulus and high CTE. The performance of each actuator was evaluated using an actuator test system consisting of an actuator supporting jig, a high voltage actuating power supplier, and a non-contact laser measuring system. The simply supported condition actuator was excited by the power supplier with 1.0Hz cycle and up to $100\sim400V_{pp}$. The displacement at the center point of actuator was measured with non-contact laser displacement measuring system, It has been shown that the LIPCA-C2 can 34% decrease in mass and 13% increase in displacement compared to THUNDER.

  • 본 논문에서는 열팽창계수(CTE)가 거의 없는 카본게폭시, PZT 세라믹 박판, 그리고 열팽창계수가 큰 글래스/에폭시 층으로 이루어진 곡면형 복합재료 작동기(LIPCA)의 설계, 제작 및 성능실험에 대한 연구성과를 제시하고 있다. LIPCA의 른 요점은 기존 THUNDER의 성능을 유지하면서 이를 경량화 하기 위하여 THUNDER의 금속 층을 상대적으로 가벼운 섬유 강화 복합재료로 대체하는 것이다. 이러한 경량화 작업으로 LIPCA는 기존 THUNDER 보다 약 30~40% 정도의 무게를 감소시킬 수 있으며, 복합재료의 특성에 따라 설계의 유연성을 가질 수 있는 장점이 있다. 또한, 에폭시 수지를 사용함으로써 접착제 없이 평판 몰드에서 오토클레이브에서 177$^{\circ}C$로 경화되어, 탈형된 후 충분한 곡률을 형성하였다. 작동 성능 실험에서, LIPCA는 기존 THUNDER보다 작동변위가 향상됨을 보였다.

Effect of Interlayer Thickness on Mechanical Properties of Nicalon-Fiber-Reinfored SiC Composites (Nicalon 섬유강화 SiC 복합재료에서 섬유 Coating층의 두께가 기계적 성질에 미치는 영향)

  • Interfacial shear strength plays an important role in determining the mechanical properties of a fiber-reinforced ceramic composites. In this study, the effect ofinterlayer thickness on mechanical properties of Nicalon-fiber-reinforced SiC composites fabricated via polymer solution infiltration/chemical vapor infiltration (PSI/CVI) was studied. It was found that the flexural strength and fracture toughness of the composites were increased with the interlayer thickness and showed maximum value at the interlayer thickness of 0.66${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Typical flexural strength and fracture toughness of Nicalon-fiber-reinforced SiC composites with interlayer thickness of 0.66${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were 391.7$\pm$34.6MPa and 15.1$\pm$1.8MPa.m1/2, respectively.

Mechanical Properties of NBR Rubber Composites Filled with Reinforced Fiber and Ceramics (강화섬유와 세라믹이 충진된 NBR 고무 복합체의 기계적 물성 특성)

  • In this study, the mechanical properties of vulcanized rubber were evaluated through compounding by controlling filler content to improve the mechanical properties of NBR rubber. Aramid and glass fibers with excellent heat resistance were used as fillers, and ceramics were additionally used in anticipation of a complementary effect, and as for the ceramic materials, needle-shaped and plate-shaped ceramics were used. Each filler was used in an amount of 5.0, 10.0, 15.0, and 20.0 phr in order to investigate the basic properties according to the amount of filler. To confirm the complementary effect through ceramic application, each 10.0 phr fiber and ceramic were mixed with 1:1 ratio to evaluate mechanical properties. As a result, it was confirmed that the decreasing ratio of tensile strength after heat aging was small in the order of aramid fiber, acicular ceramic, glass fiber, and plate ceramic in the case of applying the filler alone. In addition, the mechanical characteristics of vulcanized rubber using composite filler based on fibers and ceramics were evaluated, and it was confirmed that the composite filler had a complementary effect on thermal aging.

Liquid Silicon Infiltrated SiCf/SiC Composites with Various Types of SiC Fiber (다양한 SiC 섬유를 적용한 실리콘 용융 침투 공정 SiCf/SiC 복합재료의 제조 및 특성 변화 연구)

  • Liquid silicon infiltration, which is one of the methods of producing fiber reinforced ceramic composites, has several advantages such as low fabrication cost and good shape formability. In order to confirm LSI process feasibility of SiC fiber, $SiC_f/SiC$ composites were fabricated using three types of SiC fibers (Tyranno SA, LoxM, Tyranno S) which have different crystallinity and oxygen content. Composites that were fabricated with LSI process were well densified by less than 2% of porosity, but showed an obvious difference in 3-point bending strength according to crystallinity and oxygen content. When composites in LSI process was exposed to a high temperature, crystallization and micro structural changes were occurred in amorphous SiOC phase in SiC fiber. Fiber shrinkage also observed during LSI process that caused from reaction in fiber and between fiber and matrix. These were confirmed with changes of process temperature by SEM, XRD and TEM analysis.
