Evaluation of Compression Molding Simulation with Compression Properties of Carbon Fiber Prepreg (탄소 섬유 프리프레그의 압축 물성을 고려한 복합재 고온 압축 성형 해석 평가)

  • In order to optimize the prepreg compression molding (PCM) process, the forming simulation is required to cope with any problems that may be raised during the process. For the improvement of simulation accuracy, the input data of material property should be measured accurately. However, most studies assume that the compressive properties of the prepreg are identical to the tensile properties without quantifying them separately. Therefore, in this study, the in - plane compressive properties of the prepreg are presented to improve the accuracy of the forming simulation. As a result, the compressive modulus of the fibers was measured to be about $10^{-2}$ times lower than the tensile modulus. Also we designed a square-cup mold with a tilting angle of $110^{\circ}$ to simulate the prepreg formability during the high temperature compression mold process. Shear angles were measured at each corner, which were compared with the simulation results. It was observed that the simulation results using the accurate compressive properties of the prepreg showed a similar trend with the experimental results. It was confirmed that the measured data of the in-plane compression property improved the accuracy of the forming simulation results.

Prediction of Mechanical Property of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polycarbonate and Evaluation of Warpage through Injection Molding (유리섬유로 강화된 폴리카보네이트의 기계적 물성예측 및 사출성형을 통한 휨의 평가)

  • Most plastics products are being produced by injection molding process. However, mold shrinkage is inevitable in injection molding process and it deteriorates dimensional quality through deflections and warpages. Mold shrinkage depends upon the material property of resin as well as injection molding condition. In this study, material property of resin has been predicted for glass fiber reinforced polycarbonate to control the warpage, and computer simulation of injection molding has been performed using predicted property. It was observed that the deflection of part decreased by the glass fiber reinforced resin. In order to verify the validity of this method and confidence of results, experiments of injection molding were performed. The results of experiments and computer simulations showed good agreement in their tendency of deflections. Consequently, it was concluded that the method of designing the material property of resin conducted in this study can be utilized to control the dimensional accuracy of injection molded products.

  • 일반적으로 사출성형법은 유동, 보압, 냉각과정등 크게 3단계로 나눌 수 있는 데 유동해석에 관한 수치해석은 Tadmor 등이 FAN(Flow Analysis Network) 방법을 도입하면서 실제 적용에 활발히 쓰이고있다. 그리고보압은 후충전 과정으로써 충전이 끝난후 수축된 부분을 보상하기 위해서 수행되는 단계이다. 본 연구에서는 실제 사출금형 제작 시 결정해야 될 냉각 채널의 위치, 크기, 수동에 대한 설계기준을 얻을 수 있는 냉각해석 프로그램을 개발하였다. 이를 위하여경계 요소법(Boundary Element Method)을 이용하였으며 일반적인 냉각 채널 즉, Annual, Baffle 및 Bubber등 에 대한 해석이 가능하도록 하였다.

  • This paper presents design methodology to determine the design parameters that affect the manufacture of aluminum forging piston using the FE simulation and the Taguchi method. Maximum forging load is used as the objective function, and preform, material temperature and draft angle are selected as the design parameters. Their combinations are implemented by orthogonal array, and forging load is evaluated through the simulation. From the analytic results of design parameters to minimize the load using signal to noise ratio, their optimal combinations are proposed. The proposed design methodology will be able to help in selecting proper preform among preforms and to be used in determining the optimal combination of the parameters in metal forming process.

  • 본 연구에서는 가상일 원리로 부터 유한 요소 수식화를 updated-Lagrangian 형태로 유도하였으며, 유도된 수식화를 연속체 유한 요소로 유한 근사화 하였다. 이 때 초소성 재료의 거동은 비압축성, 비선형 점성 유ㄷ옹으로 묘사하였다. 유한 요소 프로그램은 성형 기구 해석과 하중 압력을 제어하는 기법으로 구성되어 있으며 하중 압력의 제어는 성형 시간이 최소가 되게 하기 위하여 변형률 속도 민감 계수가 최대가 되고, 국부 변형에 의한 두께 감소를 방지하며 변형률 속도는 일정하게 유지되면서 성 형이 될 수 있도록 하였다. 즉 하중 압력 제어는 상당 변형률 속도가 최대가 되게하 여 성형 시간을 최소화하게 구성하였다.개발된 유한 요소 프로그램은 정수압 벌징 가공에 적용하였으며 최적 압력 시간 선도, 성형 형상, 두께 및 두께 변형률 분포, 상 당 변형률 분포 등을 구하였다.

  • Sheet metal forming is one of the most useful and important method in manufacturing of the autobody panels because of the excellent production rate. The objectives of sheet metal forming processes are getting a desired geometrical shape of products with good quality, low cost and reasonable lead time. In this paper, we examined the validity of finite element method analysis on the automobile FRT-PLR-L/R stamping process by using the lancing engineering method. Lancing is a press operation in which a single-line cut or slit is made on part way across the strip stock, without removing any metal. As a result, it has shown that the proper lancing engineering method could prevent fracturing by improving sheet metal flow.

  • This paper predicted deformation due to thermal residual stress in composites using finite element analysis. Temperature cycle, Model shape, Laminate angle, Stacking sequence, chemical shrinkage of resin, and thermal expansion are affect composite deformation. Compare the results of the analytical model with the actual model of the same shape. This paper suggests that the analytical results can be applied to actual Model.

  • In order to simulate the powder compaction process and to assess the effects of packing randomness and particle arrangement 2-dimensional model of rod array compaction using quasi-random multiparticle array is introduced. The elastic modulus of porous ceramics is computed by the homogenization method. With 3 Al₂O₃ and 3 Al particles the compaction processes associated with the porosities are simulated by the explicit finite element method, based on the elastic modulus found by the homogenization method. The simulation results are compared with both previous analytical ones and experimental measurements. Finally, in order to find the relationship between the friction coefficient of powder particles and the relative density, the sensitivity analysis is performed.

  • Powder metallurgy processes are used to form Net-Shape products and have been widely used in the production of automobile parts to improve its manufacture productivity. Powder-forging technology is being developed rapidly because of its economic merits and because of the possibility of reducing the weight of automobile parts by replacing steel parts with aluminum ones, in particular while manufacturing automotive parts. In the powder-forging process, the products manufactured by powder metallurgy are forged in order to remove any pores inside them. Powderforging technology can help expand the applications of powder metallurgy; this is possible because powder-forging technology enables the minimization of flashes, reduction of the number of stages, and possible grain refinement. At present, powder forging is widely used for manufacturing primary mechanical parts as in combination with the technology of powder forging of aluminum alloy pistons.

  • 본 연구는 fine blanking 프레스로부터 기능면으로 사용되는 100% clean cut 전단면을 얻는 fine blanking 공정에서 die roll을 최소화하기 위한 목적으로 성형 해석 및 실험적 방법을 통해 die chamfer 형상에 따라 성형되는 제품의 die roll size 변화를 검토한 것이다. fine blanking 과정을 묘사하기 위하여 deform 2D를 이용하여 성형 해석을 수행하여 die roll size를 예측하였으며, 실제 die chamfer가 다른 die insert를 제작하여 fine blanking 실험을 실시하여 die chamfer 형상에 따른 die roll size에 대한 해석 data와 실험 data를 비교 분석하여 die roll 길이 방향 size의 경향을 파악할 수 있었다. 이 연구 결과는 fine blanking 판재 성형에서 die roll을 최소화하기 위한 die chamfer 설계에 유용하게 적용될 것으로 판단된다.
