This study was conducted to investigate the quality characteristics and antioxidant activity of Kochujang following the addition of deodeok (Condonopsis lanceolata) powder. To accomplish this, 1%, 3% and 5% deodeok powder was added to Kochujang and the samples were then incubated at $30^{\circ}C$. during which time the general ingredients, water content, acidity, salinity, reducing sugar content, amino-nitrogen content and DPPH were analyzed at intervals of about two weeks. The water crude protein, crude fat and ash content were 3.61%, 8.44%, 4.62% and 8.85%, respectively. The initial acidity was 3.23~3.97%, and this increased to 4.39~44.86%. highlight please clarify this, I cannot infer your intended meaning; however, this can likely be deleted. The salinity was 7.42~7.73%, and 5% with deodeok powder producing the lowest content and showing a tendency to decrease during the storage period. The early amino-nitrogen content was 274.0~333.1%, with higher nitrogen contents being associated with large amounts of deodeok powder. The amino-nitrogen content during the storage period increased to the 4th week, then decreased. Additionally, the a value decreased sharply during the 4-week storage period. Addition of large amount of deodeok powder significantly improved the free radical scavenging activity. The free radical scavenging activity of 1%, 3% and 5% deodeok powder was higher than that of Kochujang throughout the maturation period. Overall, the results of this study indicate that there is the potential to develop functional foods by the addition of deodeok.
This study investigated the washing efficiency of electrolyzed water for the removal of microorganisms and pesticide residues from Chinese cabbage. Initial total bacteria and coliform counts were 6.64 and 3.56 log cfu/g respectively. After washing, total bacteria count of tap water (TW) were 5.97 log cfu/g and low alkaline electrolyzed water (LAlEW) and strong acidic electrolyzed water (SAcEW) were 1.63-4.67 log cfu/g. Especially SAcEW-100 was found to the most effective method of washing the cabbages. After washing, the coliform count was dramatically reduced. The removal rate of pesticide residues by NaClO treatment (36.93-50.13%) was greater than that of TW treatment (32.28-38.46%). The removal rate of LAlEW-100 and SAcEW-100 was 63.79 and 78.30% respectively, and was higher than those of TW and NaClO treatments. The vitamin C content of the Chinese cabbages after all treatments did not differ significantly. Consequentially, the electrolyzed water was found to be effective to remove bacteria and pesticide residues from Chinese cabbage without affecting quality.

One of the most important parameters that limit maximum output power of transistor is breakdown. InAlAs/InGaAs/GaAs Metamorphic HEMTs (MHEMTs) have some advantages, especially for cost, compared with InP-based ones. However, GaAs-based MHEMTs and InP-based HEMTs are limited by lower breakdown voltage for output power even though they have good microwave and millimeter-wave frequency performance with lower minimum noise figure. In this paper, InAlAs/$In_xGa_{1-x}As$/GaAs MHEMTs are simulated and analyzed for breakdown. The parameters affecting breakdown are investigated in the fabricated 0.1-${\mu}m$${\Gamma}$-gate MHEMT device having the modulation-doped $In_{0.52}Al_{0.48}As/In_{0.53}Ga_{0.47}As$ heterostructure on the GaAs wafer using the hydrodynamic transport model of a 2D commercial device simulator. The impact ionization and gate field effect in the fabricated device including deep-level traps are analyzed for breakdown. In addition, Indium mole-fraction-dependent impact ionization rates are proposed empirically for $In_{0.52}Al_{0.48}As/In_xGa_{1-x}As$/GaAs MHEMTs.

Medium to large post structures installed along the roadside without proper protection can lead to serious vehicle damage and occupant injury at the impact. In North America and Europe, splitting systems such as slip base or breakaway device are used to reduce impacts. But the system has the risk of secondary accident when the splitted post falls down to the traffic or pedestrian. Sliding Post have been proposed as a way to solve this problem. By studying the crash test results of the 1.3ton and 0.9ton vehicle with 60 km/h and 80 km/h to a Rigidly Fixed Post (RFP) and Sliding Post (SP), danger of the conventional RFP and crashworthiness of the SP have been proven. While collision analysis only from the acceleration measured at the center of the vehicle assumes the motion of the post is the same as that of the vehicle, in this paper, by adding high speed film data to the analysis with vehicle acceleration could have separate the post motion from the vehicle motion. It gives better explanations on the movement of post and vehicle in each distinctive time step and provides basics to the crashworthy post design.
This study aimed to explore negative experiences of unwed mothers in interaction with medical professionals, government officials and nursery teachers who have negative stereotypes about the unwed mothers and to seek ways of improving awareness and attitudes of the professionals. Researchers conducted individual and focus groups interviews with 15 unwed mothers. The results showed that unwed mothers experienced the violation of their maternal and privacy rights and inhospitable services in the interaction with medical professionals. They also had similar experiences with government officials who often had overbearing and discriminatory attitudes toward these mothers, and hardly received useful information. Last, unwed mothers had deep concerns about possibilities and experiences of discrimination against their children by nursery teachers and other parents in day care centers. In conclusion, this study discussed ways of improving awareness and attitudes toward unwed mothers through various medias and supplementary educations.

This study began with the question: "what influence would the width of river surface have on visual preference, provided that the environment surrounding the river does not change?" to evaluate the visual preference factors of the river scenery which could vary according to the change of water level. To estimate the minimum flow needed for river sceneries, field survey of Youngsan river was carried out to collect the field data and evaluated the visual preference factors to obtain a most preferred W/B ratio. At Youngsan bridge location, the feeling of open space factors, physical characteristic factors and complexity factors appeared to have significant relations to visual preferences. At Imgok bridge location, complexity factors, aesthetic factors and physical characteristic factors have significance to visual preferences. As a result of multi regression modeling, it was found that physical factors affected visual preferences the most at urban river locations and complexity factors affected the most visual preferences at rural river locations. As a results of this study, the most preferred W/B ratio was estimated as which vary from 0.5 to 0.7 and this results can contribute to the field of river landscape design to maximize the users' satisfaction level.
The studies were conducted to know the relationship between $\beta$-amlyase activities and hardiness for the germinated seedlings of, winter wheat varieties which were classified with eye estimated cold resistance in field as, susceptible, moderate and resistant. These varieties were tested in continued five days from germination in four replicated split plot design. For the measurement of $\beta$-amylase, improved A. K. Balls method (2) was employed. Result obtained will be summarized as follows. 1. Tested varieties showed highly significant differences in $\beta$-amylase activity, while no differences were obtained between dates after germination. 2. Winter hardy varieties, Yukseung #3, Chin Kwang and Suwon#85 showed higher amylase activities than the moderate hardy varieties, Jukdalma, Kangdosinryuk and Norin #4, while lower activities were measured in susceptible varieties, Norin #6, Kangdo and Norin#12. 3. With measurement of $\beta$-amylase activity, rurther detail classification to cold resistance is seemed available than eye-estimating in the field condition. 4. In accordance with testing dates, amylase activities were not so clear on 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th days from germination, while clear differences were found on 3rd day from germination. 5. Amylase activity obtained on 3rd day after germination is considered easy and effective method to estimate cold resistance of wheat varieties with a classification standard.
Purpose : This study examined the non-toxic and the anti-oxidative effect of Dioscoreae Rhizoma on PC12 cells. Sanyak(Dioscoreae Rhizoma; chinese yam, shan yao) is well-known for its curing power for kidney, lung, spleen. Tonifies and augments the spleen and stomach. Tonifies the lung gi and augments the kidney yin. Tonifies the kidneys and also stabilizes and binds. it also binds the essence and treats spermatorrhea, frequent urination, and vaginal discharge. We are therefore interested in whether Dioscoreae Rhizoma is capable of causing abnormal apoptosis processes, and whether this condition can be rectified through Dioscoreae Rhizoma herb treatment. Methods : We used aqueous extract to treat PC12 cells with different concentrations treated with a water or a MeOH extract of Dioscoreae Rhizoma (0, x10, x20, x40, x80). The MTT (3, (4, 5-dimethyl-thiazol) 2, 5-diphenyl-tetraxolium bromide) reduction assay was employed to quantify the differences in cell activity and viability. The Bax expression level was monitored using western-blotting techniques. The patterns of the changes in expression were scanned and analyzed. Results : Bax and GSK-3${\beta}$ promotes cell death and down-regulated during the development of the PC12 cells. This is indicated that Dioscoreae Rhizoma is capable of inducing apoptosis in PC12 cells. The induced cell death and significantly inhibited by Dioscoreae Rhizoma, which can be explained by the increase in the inhibition of Bax and GSK-3${\beta}$ expression. It was also shown that Dioscoreae Rhizoma inhibits the release of $H_2O_2$ and prevents lipid peroxidation. Furthermore, the accumulation of wild type Bax protein significantly downregulated in a dose-dependent manner upon treatment with Dioscoreae Rhizoma. Conclusion : In conclusion, Dioscoreae Rhizoma can induce apoptosis via a Bax-dependent pathway or GSK-3${\beta}$ dependent pathway in PC12 cells into anti-oxidant and protective effect.
