Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify correlation between sexual autonomy and self-efficacy and provide preliminary information for use in development of a sex education program for university students. Method: This study employed a descriptive research design. Data were collected from 357 university students. Subjects completed questionnaires on the following: demographics, sexual autonomy, and self-efficacy. Results: A total of 112 subjects (31.3.%) had experienced sexual intercourse and 126 subjects (35.3%) regarded it as an acceptable level of sexual behavior. The mean of sexual autonomy was 3.49 and significant differences were observed in gender, grade, department, and acceptable level of sexual behavior. The mean of self-efficacy was 4.08 and significant differences were observed in gender, department, and acceptable level of sexual behavior. In addition, significant correlation was observed between sexual autonomy and self-efficacy. Conclusion: Development of a sex education program for university students, which includes information on reinforcement of sexual autonomy and self-efficacy, is needed.

The study attempted to explain the differences among the willingness of companies to accept the self-regulation. The study exemplified the $CO_2$ emissions record labelling program, as a self-regulation program which is considered as a concrete action for corporate social responsibility and substantiality management movement. The study investigated how companies respond to the request from a government to accept the program, which may be potentially contributed to both higher social and financial performance. It is hypothesized that first the company may decide whether the acceptance decision is strategic or non-strategic issues. when considered as non-strategic, the decision will be made on the basis of short term expected returns and costs comparison. It is hypothesized that when considered as strategic, the decision will be strongly influenced by the type of corporate perceptions toward environmental regulations, which has been accumulated by past experiences. Also, the study investigated the good management theory and the slack resources theory which differently predict the direction between social performances and financial performances. The results identified the significant relationships among most variables and supported the slack resources theory. Further, the ethical perception positively influenced the willingness to accept the self-regulation.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of a sexual violence counselor program on knowledge toward sexual violence, sexual autonomy and rape myths. Method: One group, pretest-posttest design was used. The program was delivered to thirty-three persons during 10 weeks for a total of 65 hours. Results: After the program, knowledge toward sexual violence increased significantly from 11.6 to 12.5(t=-2.10, p<.05), and sexual autonomy increased significantly from 50.6 to 53.7(t=-2.35, p<.05). After the program, rape myths decreased significantly from 42.4 to 29.0(t=7.80, p<.001). Conclusion: A sexual violence counselor program was effective to increase knowledge toward sexual violence and sexual autonomy and to diminish rape myths.
Little is known about sexual autonomy in the light of human sexual health or sexual behavior. The purpose of this study was to increase understanding of sexual autonomy by developing a scale to measure sexual autonomy in college students. The measure was based on the perspective of human beings as having autonomy. A methodological developmental design was used. The study was done in three steps and included concept development through content analysis of relevant literature individual interviews using open-ended questions with 19 college students, item analysis of data from self report questionnaires for item to total correlation, content validity index by professionals and college students, and factor analysis with principal component analysis. Three groups participated in testing the measurement scale; Group A in 1998, a nationwide convenience sample of college students (n=1,163), Group B, college students in 1999 (n=233), and Group C, college students in 2000 who responded to the measurement scale before and after a sex education program (n=216). A series of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to test validity. For analysis of the questionnaires, statistical methods including reliability (test-retest), item to total analysis, content validity, factor analysis for construct validity and t-test for mean difference according to gender, sexual coitus, previous sex education, and pre-post experiment sex education were used with SPSS 10.0. Results: 1. Two stable factors were extracted and these contributed 48.05% of the variance in the total score. All 13 items loaded above .40 on each factor. 2. Factor I with 10 items was named 'control' and factor II with 3 items and was named 'coping'. 3. Differences in sexual autonomy scores for college students according to their experience showed that there were significantly higher scores for sexual autonomy in the post sex education group(t=-10.841, p=.000), but there were no differences according to whether or not they had previous sex education. Female college students had higher sexual autonomy scores than male college students in A or B group (t=-5.933, p=.000/ t=-1.992, p=.048). 4. Cronbach's $\alpha$ was .8603 for the total 13 items with 1,632 college students, .8739 with 232 students, .8333$\sim$.7647 with pre-post sex education with 216 students. This measurement was found to have a high validity and reliability for measuring sexual autonomy in college students. Therefore, the author recommends that it be used to measure the effects of sex education. It is suggested that further study is needed to analyze the relationship between sexual autonomy and sexual behavior.
As medical practices and procedures become more specialized and information technology develops in clinical settings, health organizations need medical personnel with special skills, knowledge and competency. But the lack of practical experience in clinical settings may impair competency in basic nursing skills among nursing students. This study used a cross-sectional survey to analyze factors related to nursing competency among nursing students in order to establish effective teaching methods to increase the clinical competency of nursing students. The data were collected from a questionnaire distributed in several universities among 106 nursing students who expressed a willingness to participate in the study during December 2011 in order to measure self-directedness, professional self-concepts, communication ability, learning satisfaction. The data were analyzed using the SPSS window program. There were differences regarding competency in basic nursing skills according to interpersonal relationships, grades, existence of an open lab. The level of learning satisfaction, communication skills and self-directedness were deemed influencing factors regarding competency in basic nursing skills. These 3 elements account for 49.9% of competency with regard to basic nursing skills. According to existing research, blended learning methods which consist of problem based learning, cyber education or case centered education should be considered as effective teaching methods for developing clinical nursing skills.
The purpose of this paper is to examine learning motivational process models, based on Self-Determination Theory(SDT) in academic settings. I examined if SDT's assumptions would fit for Korean adolescents, using a learning motivation scale(LMS), Basic Needs-autonomy, competence, and relatedness-Satisfaction Scale(BNSS), academic grades and life-quality scales, and also tried to search for the adequate motivational process models for Korean adolescents through regression analysis and structural equation model analysis. The results of this study are as follows. Basic needs satisfaction influences positively on the development of self-determinative motivation, which influences positively on academic achievement. But academic achievement and self-determinative motivation doesn't always influence on subjective well-being positively. And Korean adolescents who study autonomously or achieve good grades, are not better in a dimension of subjective well-being than others. Basic needs satisfaction while growing is more important than any other variables to improve adolescents' autonomous motivation, academic achievement and subjective life qualities.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to measure knowledge, attitude, experience of sex, sexual autonomy and the need of sex education of college students in order to provide sex information. Method: The subjects of this study were 356 college students. The data were collected from October 26 to December 5, 2003 by using a structured questionnaire. Result: The respondents' score of sexual knowledge was relatively low as 53.7 mean score on the basis of 100. However, the scores of sexual knowledge related to masturbation, induced abortion, and contraception were relatively high. The respondents' score of sexual attitude was 3.09. The respondents' score of sexual autonomy was 3.89. The percentage of subjects that experienced sexual intercourse was 41.6% and there was a difference between the gender. There was a positive correlation between sexual knowledge and sexual autonomy and between sexual knowledge and sexual attitude. There were significant differences in the sexual knowledge, sexual attitude and sexual autonomy depending upon the experience of coitus. The respondents expressed the need of sex education in college. Conclusion: An integrated sex education program should be developed and contents must have a concrete and honest education which is appropriate to college students.
Purpose: This study was designed to identify nurses' perceptions and educational intentions regarding natural childbirth control (NCC) methods. Method: The participants were 313 nurses working at three general hospitals in Seoul. They were asked to complete a questionnaire composed of scales measuring knowledge and perceptions childbirth control methods, awareness of bodily changes in ovulation phase, perceptions of fetal life, which were developed by the author. Also, Chang's (2002) Sexual Autonomy Inventory was utilized. The data were analyzed by the SAS program. Results : Methods of condom and rhythm were considered to be more useful for childbirth control than other methods. Only 34-54% of them knew exactly about the NCC methods using menstrual cycle, body temperature, and mucus. The mean scores of sexual autonomy and awareness of bodily changes in ovulation phase were 3.8 and 3.4 out of 5, in respect. Educational intention was different statistically by the age, marital status, future intention to use NCC methods, and perception of educational need for NCC methods. Conclusion : Nurses' perceptions and educational intentions regarding NCC were low, especially in nurses who were married. It is recommended to encourage nurses to learn NCC methods for clients education.
This study set out to analyze the learning types that most students were engaged in after school, to review the efficiency of private education through academic institutions or tutoring, and to examine the directions in the after-school learning in math under the current system. It also aimed to analyze the impacts of those after-school learning activities on school classes and to suggest some plans to help public education get back on the track. In the study the after-school learning activities in the math subject were categorized into taking classes at academic institutions, tutoring, and autonomous learning. The grades of the subject students were compared and analyzed for three semesters to find the directions right for the school classes.

This study is a quasi-experimental study to find out the effect of school library-assisted instruction on middle school students' self-directed learning ability in Home Economics Education. For this purpose, the following research questions were established. 14 hours of school library-assisted instruction and traditional lecture were carried out to 164 9th grade female students(82 of experimental group, 82 of comparison group) of a girls' middle school in Jinju, Gyeongnam. To verify the instructional effect, a pre-test and a post-test for self-directed learning ability were carried out. SPSS 12.0 was used for statistical analysis. For statistical analysis, reliability analysis, frequency analysis, x2-test, t-test, repeated measures-ANOVA, and bivariate analysis were used. The results of this research were as follows: First, there was a statistically significant difference between experimental group and comparison group in the self-directed learning ability in all the subordinate items. Second, the change of self-directed learning ability by grade within the experimental group showed no interactional effect in all the sub-items except problem solving ability. Problem solving ability showed a meaningful difference in the rate of grade rising in accordance with academic achievement level and a higher synergy effect was shown in the low academic achievement group. Third, the experimental group showed a higher rate of rising in the self-directed learning ability than the comparison group, and the low academic achievement group showed a higher rising rate of grade than the high academic achievement group. Based on the results of this research, we concluded that the school library-assisted instruction was effective in enhancing middle school students' self-directed learning ability especially for the low academic achievement group.
