The purpose of this study is to investigate 1) the perception of special school teachers on the significant skills required by students with intellectual disabilities(ID) for gaining and maintaining employment. For this study, a mixed method design including quantitative survey method and qualitative in-depth interview were utilized. First, through quantitative survey method, the perception on significant skills of students with ID for gaining and maintaining employment was investigated. At the same time, to overcome the limitation of a quantitative survey study, in-depth interviews with special school teachers were implemented. Through in-depth interviews, difficulties keeping students with ID from maintaining employment and significant skills for gaining & maintaining employment were investigated. Many students with ID have had difficulties in maintaining their employment for reasons such as behavioral problems, lack of social skills, or lack of diligence. Thus, many special teachers perceived the importance of educating the significant skills for maintaining their employment as well as gaining employment. For successful vocational transition, daily living skills, occupational skills, and personnel-social skills are significant. However, students' personal-social skills are more important than daily living skills and occupational skills. Among personal-social skills, students' sincerity, diligence, good-hearted personality, social skills, and ability for following directions of a supervisor are significant characteristics for gaining and maintaining employment.

This study was conducted by surveying users' perception about the public libraries' current public relations, which can contribute to developing the most appropriate public relations strategies for persons with disabilities(PWDs). This study concluded, first, PWDs' experience with the PR of the library services was a very low 32.4%. Intellectual disabilities, especially, were reported to have no experience in public relations. Second, the library public relations media which PWDs utilized the most were the Internet, library bulletin boards, banners, ARS services, and podcasting, in that order. However, satisfaction with promotions appeared below average(3 points or less). On the other hand, interest in public relations media was very high. Third, it appeared that library users with disabilities most frequently use the websites of their school library, the National Library of Korea, and public libraries in that order. However, the usage rate of services and users' satisfaction with them were very low. Finally, a high demand for facilities with accessibility to PWD users emerged as a result of this study. Therefore, this study recommends greater accessibility, convenience, and ease of facility use for persons with disabilities.

Among the employer-supported subscribers to the National Health Insurance Service, 6,797 people with mild disabilities with western ages of 20 and up and who received health checkups were investigated. Of these 6,797 people, 3,186 and 3,611 received health checkups in 2009 and 2013, respectively. Those people who were diagnosed with physical handicaps, brain lesions, visual impairment, hearing impairment, intellectual disabilities, mental disorders, kidney disorders or other disorders according to the classification standard for people with disabilities were classified into disability groups of the 3rd through 6th degrees. The purpose of this study was to examine the dangerous influence of obesity of people with mild disabilities on their hyperglycemia, hypertension and high cholesterol. The items measured in this study were abdominal obesity, body mass index, fasting glucose, total cholesterol, systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure. To look for connections between the obesity level and at-risk groups for each disease, cross tabulation and multinomial logistic regression analyses were utilized. Higher levels of abdominal obesity and BMI were found among those who were male, were younger and had higher incomes. The risks of abdominal obesity and BMI were higher in the abnormal groups for each disease. In 2009, the obesity group whose BMI was higher had a 1.51-fold higher risk of hypertension than the normal group. The abdominal obesity group had a 1.59-fold higher risk of high cholesterol, a 1.26-fold higher risk of hypertension and a 1.54-fold higher risk of hyperglycemia than the normal group. In 2013, the obesity group whose BMI was higher had a 1.72-fold higher risk of high cholesterol and a 1.43-fold higher risk of hypertension than the normal group. Those with abdominal obesity had a 1.59-fold higher risk of hyperglycemia than the normal subjects. As the risk of obesity was higher in those with disabilities than in those without disabilities, the former should be encouraged to undergo health checkups on a regular basis, and the coverage of the health checkups should be extended to keep track of their illness. In addition, appropriate education and concern are both required to prevent obesity.

In order to create an organizational culture that prevents women's career breaks and promotes economic activities, this study aimed at developing educational content for workplace culture improvement for both male and female workers working at small and medium-sized enterprises in Jeollanam-do. The core content composition and content design specifically consider the characteristics of Jeollanam-do based on an advisory meeting of the field experts and researchers to ensure the on-site utilization of the content and the validity and consistency of the teaching content. The educational content is divided into three areas: understanding, effectiveness, and the implementation of a gender-sensitive work-life balance organizational culture. The aim of the content is for all employees to understand the meaning of work-life balance and to improve the organizational culture of their company from the perspective of individuals, families, companies, and society. In particular, the intention was to personally identify and implement measures to improve a gender-equal work-life balance, not only at work, but also with regard to domestic labor and leisure time. Furthermore, the content is presented from a gender-sensitive perspective that encompasses diversity, systems, and programs targeting women, men, single people, married people, young people, the elderly, and people with disabilities - all these groups are explained as examples. The content emphasizes that we should all actively participate in improving the organizational culture of our companies. In addition, the Women's New Work Center should seek ways to increase the motivation for the voluntary participation by companies and strengthen the expertise of instructors in work-life balance education.

In this paper, we propose and design an NCS-based job matching system for individuals with disabilities. This system allows users with disabilities to access it, input basic information (personal and disability-related details), and take a simple test related to job performance. The system then provides NCS job-related information appropriate to their type and degree of disability. To effectively link various NCS-based jobs, it is essential to consider the degree of disability for each type of disability. However, most evaluation tools target specific types of disabilities or assess the vocational abilities of individuals with disabilities in a limited manner, focusing only on cognitive levels or certain physical functions. This makes it challenging to apply these tools to an NCS-based job matching system for individuals with disabilities. Therefore, in this paper, we utilize the ICF coresets for VR to assess the cognitive levels or physical functions required for performing specific jobs. Additionally, we use the NCS vocational competency evaluation tools to determine the levels of vocational competencies required for performing specific jobs. By doing so, we match NCS-based jobs according to the type and degree of disability. The proposed NCS-based job matching system relies on the user's interaction with the system, which may pose challenges for visually impaired individuals or those with intellectual and autism spectrum disabilities who have low literacy levels. Enhancing the accessibility of this system could enable individuals with disabilities to receive recommendations for NCS-based jobs that suit their vocational abilities.
People with class I intellectual disability need lifelong assistance and protection from their surroundings due to impaired adaptive functioning. They have poor oral health and show higher prevalence of dental caries, periapical inflammation and tooth loss that require proper prosthetic restoration. Because removable prostheses for intellectually disabled patients often lack stability, retention, and maintenance, fixed prostheses are essential and the only available option is dental implants. In this case, a 45 year-old male patient with class I intellectual disability had poor oral hygiene with most of his teeth missing and visited the clinic to recover his masticatory function. Due to such systemic conditions, the definitive restoration of choice was the implant-supported fixed dental prosthesis made of biocompatible and highly strong monolithic zirconia. In consequence of the treatment process, the patient was able to improve his oral environment aesthetically and functionally.
This study is to develop an oral healthcare program for students with intellectual disabilities, who were in high-school grades in Special School C located in North Chungcheong Province, and to examine its effect after applying the program. The program effect was the index of oral environment care ability and the score of dental caries risk per each session. In addition, images were taken for phase-contrast microscopy. The PHP index before and after the oral healthcare program and the risk of dental caries decreased but showed no significant difference. An observation on phase-contrast microscopy revealed that the number of cocci decreased at the third session compared to that in the first session, and almost no bacillus was observed. The oral healthcare program, would be able to improve the oral environment care ability of students with intellectual disabilities and lower the risk of dental caries.

Recent research has been mostly focused on the differences of prenatal sex hormone could affect the ratio of the lengths of the second to fourth digits (2D:4D) as well as the rate of several physiological characteristics. It has been suggested that digit ratios are thought to be associated with either higher prenatal testosterone levels or greater sensitivity to androgens, or both. However, a study of person with disabilities are rare in Korea. The purpose of this study was to compare patterns of the ratio (2D:4D) of the lengths of the second and fourth digits in persons with disabilities and students without disabilities. Also, we empirically analyze the characteristics of persons with disabilities. We found that finger length ratio (2D:4D) of men with disabilities and student without disabilities were lower than women with disabilities and student without disabilities. Therefore, it could be confirmed that finger length ratio (2D:4D) is sexually dimorphic trait. There were no correlations between finger length ratio (2D:4D) and age group in persons with disabilities. Therefore, as with person without disabilities, the 2D:4D ratio was negatively associated with a growth process of persons with disabilities. Finally, There was no difference correlations between finger length ratio (2D:4D) and level of disability in persons with intellectual disabilities. From this, one possible explanation for this is that if finger length ratio (2D:4D) is related to person with disability then current classification of the level of disability deserves further investigation.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the literature on music interventions for youth with intellectual disability. Characteristics of the music intervention, target goal domains, and the quality of statements on intervention contents and rationale were explored. What type of intervention was applied in each target goal domain and how studies differed in terms of the quality of stated rationales depending on the authors' field of study were also analyzed. A total of 20 articles published in KCI journals were identified. The analysis showed the differences in intervention contents depending on the authors' research field and target goal areas. In addition, it was found that only two studies stated an appropriate rationale based on the theory of music therapy and relevant research. Discrepancies on the quality of rationale between researchers with music therapy majors and with non-music therapy majors indicated the importance of the music therapy professionalism in expecting and interpreting the intervention outcomes. These findings highlight the ways in which music intervention studies could be improved to further the field and contribute to the rigor of these interventions for youth with intellectual disability.

The health care services are the most basic social institutions that are provided to citizen including disabled persons for improvement of health. However, the study of the difference of health care services according to the speech therapy use in the people with speech-language disorders was insufficient. The aim of this investigation was to compare the awareness of health care services and characteristics of people with speech-language disorders according to speech therapy use. The researchers selected 229 people with language disorder using raw data of National Survey of the Disabled Person (2017). We compared the characteristics and health care services of people with speech-language disorders by distinguishing between speech therapy non-users and speech therapy users. Among the 229 people with language disorder, speech therapy users were 37 persons (16.2%). In comparison with non-users, users were younger, more preschoolers, more family incomes, and intellectual disabilities and autistic disorder were the most common types of disability enrollment. Users had a lower proportion of unmet medical needs than non-users. For the reasons of unmet medical need, there were 6.8% and 6.3% of the "economic reasons" and "communication difficulties" Both users and non-users responded that "disability management services" need to be strengthened by the government. In conclusion, we suggest that access to health care services needs to be increased to lower the barriers of speech therapy use.
